  5. western damma

learn about the jhanas I thought you might enjoy this extensive and controversial site. I am still exploring it. I discovered it at ayp forum in the discussion on Buddhism and Yoga. Bill
  6. Can anyone recommend good Tai Chi DVDs?

I was wondering if anyone in this forum could point me in the direction of good DVDs on Tai Chi. I live out in Colorado Springs, so there aren't many Tai Chi teachers around here. Is Terence Dunn a good resource? I would go for the dvds at classical tai chi If you take some time to read through the sight you may find inspiration for dvd learning. These dvds are unique. Bill
  7. Tai Chi and cultivation

You may enjoy this little paragraph on the relation of tai chi to chi gongclassical tai chi Scroll down to the question on the role of mind in tai chi. Bill
  8. Serious Offer

I think it was worth it just for Yen Hui's post with the Cleary translation above. It was quite entertaining and educational too. I was sucked in and engaged in the fantasy. More prima materia for the furnace. Bill
  9. Bill Mistele's long article that mentions Chia

I am pretty sure that I recognize that as Mistele's writning. Bill In fact I am absolutely sure Bill
  10. I think it was Yoda who brought up a scientific term to describe a situation where one thing that is constrained gives rise to a higher functioning. I think the example given was that of breath retention increasing the flow of chi and also the retention of ejacualtion gives rise to....... I have been searching Tao bums for this particular term and I can't find it. Anyone remember? Bill
  11. Retention, CCOs, Orbit, Sex, etc. etc.

Witch, I am enjoying the web link that you have provided. I could spend quiet a bit of time with this as well. Have you gotten to the emptiness phase of the sexual practice? There are certainly some unique approaches here. The reverse session, and upward moving focus. Great stuff. Welcome to taobums by the way.
  12. Body remodelling - knees?

Thank you for the suggestion on the elbows. I went to the doctor today resigned to the idea that he would suggest surgery for the knees. I have stretched ligaments at least possibly a ripped miniscus. But he suggested that I get physical therapy for the knees. I thought I'd ask about suggestions for the above problems and also what experienced RMAX practioners would suggest from Sonnon's exercises that would be good for the strengthening the knees. Furey's hindu squats didn't really fo my knees any good to put it politely, and I know I was doing them correctly.
  13. twenty five years of construction is catching up on me. Any suggestions? I know I need different work or at least stop the hands on stuff for a while, but herbs, acupuncture massage? I am doing qi gong which helps but I am not able stop the work. I may have to soon though. The pain is on the outside of the arm just onto the forearm. Thanks in advance Bill
  14. tendonitis in the elbow. suggestions?

Thanks again for your replies Owl, did you mean in point 3 to grip with the forearm muscles or literally grab them with the other hand? I have also put in a post for the knees, and I am hoping you all might chime in again. I am really into a major remodelling these days and I don't mean the house although I wish I could do that as well. Bill
  15. I thought all of you might enjoy this video. Billclassical tai chi
  16. square form and round form in Tai chi chuan

Thaddeus About the articulation of the dan tien area I think this video of Master Hwa might help better than my verbal explanation. Happy thanksgiving everyone. My favorite holiday!!!!!!!!!!!1
  17. square form and round form in Tai chi chuan

Thaddeus, You're right. I was thinking of the sabre, the curved sword that I have often heard of named as a large knife. I'd be interested to see your take on the Internal Discipline page at classical tai chi. I have been practicing this form for a few years now, and before that Yang style for twenty five. I have never seen anything like this other than Master Hwa's approach. In Master Hwa's classical tai chi the whole torso gets very articulated rotational development. Those Wu style spirals are driven deep into the core musculature. Ba gua uses this guando doesn't it?
  18. square form and round form in Tai chi chuan

Thaddeus, There are about four different schools of Wu. I had the privelage of meeting Dr Wen Zee in Tucson and he said that his favorite was the broadsword which I understand as the large knife. He was a student of the Shanghai Wu, Wu's son in law, Ma liang.
  19. Tigles?

The tigles or drops are the same as the bindus which melt in the awakening fire of tumo or in alchemical operations. The melting of the drops results in the realization of emptiness and bliss. See books like highest yoga tantra by daniel cozen I think his name is. Also The six yogas of Naropa commentaries by Tsongkapa might have something in it. Trunk's website might have something on it. I think lama Yeshes's book on innner heat has some good info. Bill
  20. Tao Bum Meetup

I'd be into it. With enough time for planning, anywhere in the west coast and Arizona, Nevada is also beautiful. That would be great to meet any who could make it. Bill
  21. tooth regeneration

For those of you advanced magicians there is a spirit in bardon's evocation book that says he can teach you how to grow a new set of teeth. How's that for a motive to learn magic?
  22. I am the Bill that has posted an observation the in this ayp thread and I wanted to get Yogani's further comments and asked him in an email if he would comment on my post. He did so in an email to me. I'll ask him if he minds if I post it here. I am sure he won't but just to observe the protocol I will ask. Bill
  23. Yogani's Meditation Book

I would get the big book if you are really into the practices but I like the booklets also. I have to say that after just doing yogani practices for a few months plus some tai chi, and stretches that yogani's approach has been the most palpably energetic and deep of practices that I have done in my many years of practice. For me it has come at the right time. I do the spinal breathing with enhancements and find that the deep meditation, while I don't favor it has been some of the most energetic of times. I even have the MO popping in during the meditation segement. In spinal breathing with the bhandas and mudhras I find it incredible how they unite into one whole body mudra. Maybe this is an aspect of maha mudra not spoken of too much. All of the physical components of the practice let you ease up on the imagination part of the qi gong. I find spinal breathing to be more like qi gong than yoga since the chakras take a back seat to the flow of energy up and down. Bill
  24. Hey Friends, Anyone have experience with both paulie zinks' yoga and Mantak chia's tao yin. They aim for the same or are they different in intent and effects? I am still thinking of going to paulie zinks workshop in LA in September. Anybody else.?
