Thanks , I didn't know till now just how much this subject would get to me, I am fine with hunters , fishing etc and all but this wasteful killing of harmless critters ... I don't like it one bit.

I guess , well , rene did ask

btw...which "righteous" path are you trying to stay on?

Keep my mouth shut more, for one

Do you think you can improve upon the Universe? I do not think it can be done. <--LZ said that somewhere.

It can be difficult, for some, to know when to 'interfere' with the natural course of things. Especially if one is stuck in 'either/or' thinking. I've spoken a lot over the decades about 'Both, same time' - but this last bit of conversation illustrates how the rubber meets the road in that idea.

First, though, Stosh - I seriously doubt your antipathy regarding wasteful killing exceeds mine. When coyotes kill it is for food. When I kill it is for food. IMO 'trophy' hunters should be mounted on walls.

So. How do we know if or when we should 'interfere' or not? My way, is to let things take their natural course - AND - when and if I'm strongly compelled (by my own instincts) to interfere then I do so... and whatever outcome, comes <--regardless of any personal preference of mine. <<<THAT is the 'Both, same time' here. I do what I sense is the right thing in the moment, AND, it's not possible for me to know if it was the right thing or not. (ala SaiOng). It's because it's not possible to know all outcomes of my choices - any angst or lament I may have after the fact is mitigated.

That's why I was asking about a 'righteous path'. I don't think there are any pre-prescribed paths that are 'righteous' in themselves - which leads back to the OP. While finding one's way up from the 'bottom' - listening to one's instincts, true heart, can be informative and helpful.

    That, and -

I was lucky Stosh, and where I grew up, while I was sheltered in a home, I was not seperated from nature, or it's birth, life and death cycles.

And it's taken me many years to try to form some understanding of what is meant by humans acting outside nature.

What understanding did you come to, sweet friend?

As a resident gay dude, I should probably hold off writing that technical manual I´ve been mulling over on heterosexual sex positions.  I am, however, a human being and don´t live on an all-male clothes-optional tropical island.  I was raised by a mother and women continue to play key roles in my life, so I´m not entirely ignorant of male-female dynamics.

I enjoy your words, luke, very much and they've inspired me. This is hardly the time, place or thread for that matter to reveal something about myself - therefore it's the perfect time, place and thread. (-:

Unexplainably - I was born with male and female energies in perfect balance. As a child, I never felt "like a girl" or "like a boy"; I was just always Rene. Growing up, and still as an adult, I've never felt "like a woman" or "like a man". Physically, I am female. I'm attracted primarily to males but there was this one Lakota woman that...well... Even that, though, was not so much a sexual attraction - it was purely energetic. Thinking on it now - all powerful sexual pulls for me are energy-based rather than gender-based. So...it might be that way for others? Which ever 'gender' their birth-energy is determines which gender they identify with and/or are attracted to.

Or, in my case of balanced male/female energies, it might be 'Both, same time' <---LOL now there's a new manifestation of that.

     :lol::lol:

well , sweetie pie , the fundamental problem with being true to your own nature is like this, either  1 )  we don't have one. or 2) we arent happy with the repercussions of being ourself.

    LOL sweetie pie

    Regarding your post -

    1) everyone has their own nature. How could they not?? It might be their own trueness has been covered up with years and/or layers of crap - and maybe it's easier for them to stay in other's expectations then break out... but even that is a choice, and they are doing what makes them happiest (even if that means they are miserable).

    2) see above

    oops.

I did like the two wolves pendant , but that may not be the right gimmick.

The right 'gimmick' imo is being true to your nature, following your own path.. instead of what others think your path should be. If you're a wolf, be the best wolf you can be. If you're a worm, be the best worm you can be. True te, and true virtue, is to thine own self be true. If pendants help as a reminder...kewl beans :D

    Good luck with that.

I'm not pretending, and delusion is not a pollutant, it is sometimes a dream/hope for a better life that people have when their lives are plighted. Do you remember Chenobyl or three mile Island? I am certainly not deluded, this is the last thing I would ever be. I am a very practical and skilled person who's feet are firmly placed on the ground. Currently, solar panels will last for up to 20-25 years. Not everyone has the chance to live in the countryside, so solar panels on house roofs offer a 20-25 year generating time that yes they have to be produced, but once up and running will save CO2 being produced else where and produce clean energy. Collectively, production may cause CO2,  and some destruction of the environment mining for silicon etc, but if enough are produced and used over an extended period, alot of CO2 can be saved from going into the atmosphere. There is no risk of Chenobyl! If you are deluded about Chenobyl and the terrible risks, do some reading. I know what I would prefer, we had nuclear fall out hit our country from another and many animals and crops had to be destroyed and certain areas could not be visited.

    Hi flowing hands (-:

I'm glad to read that you're aware of some of the environmental costs of 'going green'; for a minute you had me worried! LOL

The delusions I was referring to that are indeed polluting are the extremes of this debate - that all green is all good, and no green is all good - and the off-topic dueling charts and the off-topic takeover of your thread by ralis and drew (I have him on ignore but can easily guess) and the others sure polluted up your topic.

One of the first, and maybe most important step, in travelling light - is to not live in excess, nor to bring or let in the garbage of extremes in the first place; whether material or verbal. I know you cant block or delete the off-topic posts but a request to dawei or other mods could have assisted with this and the replies to your thread and good conversation may have had a better chance...and may have reduced your need to appear to land on an extreme.

You are being facetious,  I did not invent the technology, but I am using it to power this computer which comes from the sun. I use this energy to power my home. I am taking personal responsibility for my own energy needs. In this way I know I am not being part of a system that pollutes and leaves radioactive substances still dangerous for thousands of years;)

    Flowing hands, you surprise me!

I applaud your efforts and intentions, we are also off-grid and harness the sun for all our energy needs which are nominal, but we do not pretend there was no environmental cost to do so. There are many kinds of pollution; not the least of which is delusion. Are you okay? Oh wait! Perhaps you are playing the Uke with this thread? :D

used to work in the solar industry for a company that made the tooling  "machinery" sets used to "make" solar cells...

apparently you don't understand about efficiency rates of cells "their not there" ,  yet

the cost associated with making them or the environmental damage that is done mining the materials used to make them.

whats called green energy is not so green,

there are no free rides, its an illusion.

My favourite verse is the first verse.

The Dao that can be told is not the eternal Dao

The name that can be named is not the eternal name

The nameless is the Mother of Heaven and Earth

The named is the manifestations of the Ten Thousand things

Ever desireless one can feel ( heart) the mystery

Ever desiring one can see its manifestations

One appears as imperceptible, infinity upon infinity

Here lies the path of all mystery.

    It is just so complete

    Ditto (-:

Edit to add: A TTC's treatment of Ch 1 generally reveals the underlying 'starting point' of the renderer. Or so it seems to me.

I agree also, that its not a male vs female dichotomy.

Which one should be considered dominant , I consider to be a false argument

,since the principles are codependent joined as they are, in a complementary pairing,, neither of them should be considered as being greater.

Agree. And, whichever arises to the fore - the other is always there, unboundaried, in full support.

Neidan does not involve loads of rituals etc etc. True neidan involves quiet inward/outward looking, involves the cultivation of energy and of the self.

To me, rituals are adornments of natural simplicity... words and terms and even ideas seem extraneous.

For me, tao is easy and as natural as breathing; just living is ritual enough, lol.
