  1. Waysun Lao

I don't want to repeat what Kumar said to me in private. These vibration breath techniques are, in fact, from Fujian White Crane. I met the guy Kumar mentions in "Gates" book and his account was much scarier than even what Kumar wrote. Darin, I don't know if there is a thread here but I'd be happy to answer any question you might have (as long as I don't have to type too long). Understand that I am not a "master" or anything, just a regular guy who happened to get very lucky in meeting teachers. I know a bunch of interesting things and can vouch for Kumar's work from personal experience. BTW I am, at this writing, no longer connected to his organization. So you won't find my name on his website any longer but I assume he'd only have good things to say about me.

Because they are. Liao was a WC guy before taiji. Kumar sponsered him coming here, regrets it now. One of Kumar's students had extremely bad reactions to Liaos stuff. You won't find it in any other taiji style. So it's not "secret" temple stuff, it's WC.
  3. Tao is Crap without Qi

I'm with Darrin on this one. Tao is. While I enjoy neigong, Tao is already here. Why are special formulae and techniques needed for finding what is right here? Stuart, The statue is never a duck. It still won't swim. "With due respects Buddy all we have to know each other is the words we post." Well, as you see from Cam's response some know of me here, just not you. BTW I can only agree with your response.
  4. Waysun Lao

See BK Frantzis warning of these practices in Opening the Energy Gates of the Body. These are from Fukian White Crane, NOT from taiji, and are potentially very dangerous if not practiced under direct supervision from an expert. And even then...
  5. Tao is Crap without Qi

Stuart, Please don't explain to me the obvious. And certainly don't question my knowlege or skill without knowing me. Taijiquan is a particular thing. Taiji is just a concept. It seemed clear, in using the term Taiji, as taijiquan is commonly called, meant the martial art of taijiquan. Again, a rock is not a duck. And we're not friends yet so just call me Buddy.
  6. Tao is Crap without Qi

free, All Taiji is martial. Just not all tai chi is taiji. You can a rock a duck but that won't make it swim. I don't think mindless movement IS important. In fact I don't think mindless anything is important. If it's for you, great, but it's not taiji is all. Shen fa means body method. In IMA it means using whole body power with internal strength. Maybe you might like the whirling actions Sufi dervishes do?
  7. Tao is Crap without Qi

First of all, we're talking about taijiquan. This is a martial art that is sometimes used as a method of personal development. The way of moving (shenfa) in the Chinese internal martial arts is a very specific thing. It's what makes it so special for martial and health applications. No shenfa=no taiji. Soft flowing movement with happy thoughts is not taiji. No shenfa in Mr. Huang, that I see. But perhaps I am slow.
  8. Tao is Crap without Qi

Please. Al Huang? A joke. Where's the shen fa? First of all, Tao is everpresent and all pervasive. Qi is many things, as has been said. Digestive qi, earth qi, mental qi, etc.
  9. IMA vs. MMA

denty, You need to do some serious grounding in reality. Your posting of this fictitious account of Mike Tyson is disturbing. My own teacher is well known for his fighting ability but he real and can be met most nights of the week in Taipei. Yours exist in comic books. Buddy
  10. Second-hand Winn Material

No offence but it was second hand before you bought it.
  11. Pots call kettles black. Sheesh.

A fool and his money are some party.
  13. John Chang Video

Please. Tell me that you are not taken in by sideshow hucksterisms like the John Chang nonsense. Then there is one charletan replying about another's complex machinations. "I have tracked his teacher in the inner planes and found out that Dajen had cultivated himself alone, to a very high level, but never cultivated his heart spirit or sense of collective humanity. He got stuck in a certain high level because of this and is now trying to resolve it through David, who is an aspect of his collective oversoul. So David is working out his heart issues and abandonment issues here. Dajen is a case of someone who used only yin-yang practices, and did not balance the five phase cycles which restore full balance to humanity." Tracked on the inner planes? Come on. What is this, psychic Dragnet? Are any of you really this interested in snake oil?
  14. John Chang Video

Still and all, to use these hokey "magic" tricks" is pretty lame and should make you all question its source.
  15. What is the Most Important Thing?

Sincerity is the most important thing and once you can fake that...
  16. Help me find a martial art

Well that's fine. But remember taijiquan means yin/yang boxing, so only the yin/yang part are the same. Taiji is a fighting style that MAY be used for self development. But chopping wood and carrying water may be used for the same thing.
  17. Help me find a martial art

"And of course, your view is that Qi is not something you train or transform through cultivation, is that correct?" No, of course. "Are you familiar with Jing-Chi-Shen concept?" Of course. "If you say "Chi", what do you mean?" I expained that above. Energy or breath. "Fajin is used by Tai Chi and Chi Kung people a lot but it doesn't mean it's a different concept from Jing-Chi-Shen development through meditation." Of course it is. Why would you use it in qigong? It means to express trained power not qi. "The applications and training are different, the processes that are happening within the body are not." Perhaps you are thinking about the word jing meaning "essence", like sperm and ovum and other bodily fluids and secretions. The word jin or jing in fajin is a different word. BTW, you're mixing your transliterations. If you use the spelling "chi", then you want to use the spelling "ching".
  18. Help me find a martial art

No it has a particular meaning in martial arts. "Fa" means to express or emit. "Jin" or "jing" means specifically trained power. "Qi" is energy or breath. There is never any need to obfuscate the training methods of the IMA. That was done quite well in the past.
  19. Help me find a martial art

Fajin is the expression of "trained power" not qi.
  20. Help me find a martial art

I am familiar with Park Bok Nam.
  21. What should "qigong" be called?

    How about qigong?
  22. Help me find a martial art

Sure, why not. My senior Tim Cartmell has done so to great success. But he would diagree with me that the two are different.
  23. Help me find a martial art

Cam, No. IMA has a different body method. BJJ is great, all loosey-goosey and stuff. But no pengjin.
  24. Help me find a martial art

BTW Bjj is NOT taiji. CST seems ok but I'll stick to baguazhang.
  25. John Chang Video

I agree, and anyone who resorts to such obvious trickery as the newspaper thing is a fraud.
