  1. SFQ / SM Compatibility ?

Yeah, the 100 days thing I think is just so as to give a person the chance to get a flavor of what a system may do for them. Certainly not long enough to do more than that, but if less than that I think no way to get the flavor. Nothing majical about the figure of "100 days".
  2. SFQ / SM Compatibility ?

Seems to me when I read "...mental dabbling/visualization will only HINDER the process" there appears to be a bit of counter-production going on. What are you looking for in this question? Either do it or not. Either accept what either system has to say or not. In Stillness-Movement we use NO visualization and NO forced methods. EITHER one of those two things does hinder the process; in other words "counter productive". To put this is plain terms you would most likely progress faster doing just one of the systems. If you want to practice Stillness-Movement do so - it has more than enough to keep one busy and it is a very efficient system. Doing something else will only take away from you being able to do the entire Stillness-Movement system, which will take away from its inherent efficiency as well as take away the student getting the full benefit from the system. For an example, I was just asked yesterday by one student who asked me why another student (who we both like and respect) couldn't do a unique to the system specific technique. I replied that the student in question has never embraced the system. While he could do a lot of the techniques and was indeed very good at them, as long as he dabbled in all the other stuff he dabbles in he would never make that final leap into the higher level methods of the system. Too scattered. Again, do what you want.
  3. SFQ / SM Compatibility ?

Stillness-Movement is a complete and very large & deep system by itself. The MCO begins quickly, on its own, and mental dabbling/visualization will only hinder the process. Efficiency of practice includes the whole system. Do what you want. I don't think you will turn into a frog or anything like that.
  4. Filling up the lower Dan Tien- How and Why

"Mine was already there and yet my Qi gong practice has been extremely beneficial and useful. In fact all of the practice that I have done over the years has served to increase and exercise capacities that were latent and the capacities that need certain fuels/vibrations to grow or sprout. " Exactly my point. You think "it was already there" yet you have noticed the extreme difference after cultivation. So my point is that yes, an energy center IS already there and cultivation forms the field of elixir at said energy center. "Regarding the part of the quote "if it is already there then why do anything" I don't actually understand this viewpoint and would really like more on this point from Ya Mu if you please :)" Didn't really have much of a point except many say it is already there and all is already done and if this is so why bother with anything. Those that do bother find it isn't already "done".
  5. Filling up the lower Dan Tien- How and Why

I agree that a Dan Tian has to be created; we teach this as fact within our system and other neigong systems I have been exposed to do as well. If it is already there then why do anything. I think the confusion comes from the fact that yes, everyone has an energy center at that location or they would be dead. And yes, this energy center field varies from person to person. But the cultivation and usually initiation is required to have elixir field, which is why the neidan texts say what they say. The thing is, there are not too many absolutes in that everyone is different and it is my understanding that it depends on cultivations in previous lifetimes as well as what each individual chose to bring here for this experience. I have seen "naturals" who can create this fairly quickly as well as others who take a very long time. I do know that systems with initiation create this quicker than one just going it on their own. Also sometimes drastic experiences such as getting struck by lightning can drastically change....everything. But good lord NO I certainly don't wish to argue this viewpoint.
  6. Women & TTB

There is no way any of you know if a point of view is being argued by a woman or man unless you have personally met the person. I COULD be a 90 year old grandmother that has been messing with your heads for years. Best to just be respectful to ALL ALL ALL. That way, nothing is left undone - all is covered. I will say those who think women are any lessor in the arts than men need to come to one of my workshops and see for yourself women of power that can stand toe to toe with any man with qi projection. A famous USA qigong author and teacher made the mistake of being condescending concerning qi projection to one of my female students. It was about the funniest thing that I ever saw when she blasted him with qi. The look on his face - absolutely priceless!
  7. Medical Qigong Profession

Never saw a documented case of a physician losing license due to medical qigong practice when "standard of care" was utilized. Was this in Canada or USA? The way I teach to physicians who want to utilize medical qigong depends on what the physician wants to do. If they wish to continue their regular practice I teach them how to do the wai qi liao fa discreetly - in this manner there is no way anyone would lose their license. I use a slightly modified method in teaching counselors to utilize it in their practice. There are many ways to utilize medical qigong. While I sometimes personally have a bent for the dramatic gestures, it is totally unnecessary.
  8. Medical Qigong Profession

The main reason this is possible is that you wouldn't be practicing "standard of care" and if you did medical qigong on little Suzy instead of prescribing the antibiotic and little Suzy several weeks later comes down with something (even totally unrelated) and dies, you bet they would come after you with a lawsuit for not practicing "standard of care" and not only would you lose your license but also multi-millions of dollars. That said I have trained a number of physicians who do use medical qigong, but many of them use it in a specialized manner different than a typical medical qigong clinician so as to not come under scrutiny. But physicians even face this with acupuncture although organizations like the medical acupuncture group started by Dr Joseph Helms have made great inroads to its acceptability. I know a physician who practiced acupuncture in Mississippi and the mandated insurance was listed under "surgery" and was close to 15K per year. Which of course made it impractical. I think organizations like the National Qigong Association are making some inroads to acceptance of medical/clinical qigong with their standards and certification. LONG road ahead though.
  9. You sure don't think like the majority here. How could you possibly have come to these conclusions? Could it be from actual practice? Huh, amazing. Ha HA, I LIKE - what a great post!
  10. Stillness-movement and trauma therapy

Yes, the Sequential Energy Center Rejuvenation (Spiral) is very restorative. For me 40 min = 4 hrs of sleep. Difference is one feels much more balanced after the 40 min versus the 4 hour sleep. All the sub-systems inside Stillness-Movement are each, on their own, very powerful practices. Very deep, it is. The energy centers behind the knee are often neglected. Sometimes when hiking just stop and do the behind the knee one from SECAB&DE. Especially effective out in the woods.
  11. Dinner was fresh picked squash, fresh picked tomatoes, and fresh picked peas. MMMMNNN! A literal feast! Qi glow was very bright just buzzing off these home-grown veggies. .
  12. "How does eating lots of Sugar affect your Chi?" It makes your qi too sweet. A balance of sweet and sour qi is needed for one to attain the Golden SS Body (it fuses together at Dan Tian and too much sweet will make it so that it is too imbalanced to fuse). I advocate the Path of the Golden Mean. Moderation in all things but don't withhold from experiencing things that one wishes to experience. You may look down from your energy body one day and wonder what ice cream tastes like.
  13. I can surely say that if you two guys represent the intelligence, manners, outright courtesy, and enthusiasm of all Australians then I want to move there. Just two of the nicest people a person could hope to meet! I truly enjoyed our time of high energetics together as well as the majical moments like when the deer came so close to us to watch us do Gift of the Tao. Practice is the nature of the game. Do that and you both will go far with this system. Thanks to you both for taking such extreme measures of time & effort in order to learn a system. This system came to be for both of you - it is for you. Adrian - I'll have to work on the cooking skills - but it may not get much better. ha ha. 2 weeks after you were here our garden started producing and we have many fresh vegetables - I do wish this had of happened while you guys were here so you could have enjoyed these as well. However, the focus of our training would have changed and you both would have learned pea-picking qigong, potato digging qigong, tomato picking qigong, corn shucking qigong and a few other, hmm - shall we call them "esoteric qigong" methods. I encourage you to use the wai qi liao fa and the Taoist Medicine methods in your healing practice - you will help so many people and I think you are going to be very good at it! Alcyone, you were amazing to get SO GOOD at the movements IN SO SHORT A PERIOD OF TIME, going from ZERO - as in never had seen them before - to being accomplished at GOT I, GOT II, and GOT III in ONE WEEK! DANG! I am impressed! Took me 30 years or so.
  14. Nothing works better and highly efficient.
  15. Brian, does this mean if you needle me enough I will become in-light-ened? Just joking.... By the way, to address the OP. As IME "there are always higher levels", then "NO" to your question; however, it would depend on your definition of enlightenment - if you mean "awaken" then it is entirely possible as the simple act of a rain drop falling on your nose has the possibility of accomplishing that.
  16. Quan An Men hospital, PRC, Chief Physician quote: "Our acupuncture doctors who practice qigong have far better results than our acupuncture doctors who don't." Although he was a bit surprised I asked him the question and a bit reluctant to answer.
  17. Proper Taoist Grounding Method

TM - I will be picking apples this year too! And, as a side-effect, yields these tasty things in this bag!
  18. Question about Taoist prayer.

Casting of INTENT, manifestation, manipulation of the raw creative energetics. LINKING with Higher Level Self, Harmonic interaction of dancing in Wu Wei Never beseching of an other entity or lil ol man in the sky.
  19. RIP Electric Bike

Must be Lithium batteries 48v pack for that price. I am going to be replacing the 24v battery pack in mine for right at $100 - I have to do a bit of soldering. These bikes are really neat.
  20. I think you should directly ask the person teaching exactly what is involved. It is a vicious and brutal martial art - a really good one IMO, although I do know someone who teaches it, I personally have only dabbled in it. GREAT exercise - I think you should give it a go and see how you like it. No one here has any idea what this particular teacher knows - only you can find out. If I were to want to study a MA and couldn't find a Hsing I teacher that would definitely be my 2nd choice.
  21. Of course a person can't feel qi in the least without hair. That is, unless the person has no hair, then it doesn't apply. Just get to where you feel qi in and through every pore of your body and don't worry with this hair thing. Totally meaningless and yes, I had long hair for most of my life and don't now and it doesn't make a bit of difference. Muscle tonality is good. It is only when muscles are bound that the qi can stagnate.
  22. " I met a German girl in Sweden who was going to school in France, and we danced to Mississippi at an Alpha Kappa dance..." Ya recon which time zone would be best to practice in? The person who met the girl was from USA with a totally different time zone. So they couldn't practice together? It would be WRONG??? (ya, I know what TCM says about it) By the way, is that daylight savings time? BEST to practice LISTENING and practice during THAT time. By the way, depends on what one is practicing. Many systems the MCO is auto triggered and one doesn't need to worry about it. Be a natural person, a real person, and practice accordingly instead of artificially. TIME - throw it out! It's 5 o'clock somewhere!
  23. Medical Qigong Profession

So...Are you performing medical qigong now or just thinking about going into the field of study? One suggestion I have is that if you do feel called to do it then don't let what other people think influence your decision to do medical qigong. It is a science and art form that is truly needed in today's society and can address many things where other forms of therapeutics fail. We have seen this over and over.
  24. I propose that the terms Yin & Yang are totally worthless & useless. IMO the words have brought about more confusion than clarity. IMO they should be banned from use. Heaven & Earth, however, are tangible - anyone can get to where they feel the difference in the energetics. Yang within yin within yang within..it will drive a person nuts and accomplishes nothing to contemplate the inherent truth in either one as they will always have a bit of the other. And Stosh, bring your car over - I'll wax the Yin side at high noon and the yang side at midnight.
  25. Medical Qigong Profession

Unfortunately the massage schools mainly teach fluff & buff which is virtually worthless. You already know much more than the instructors ever will. I suggest you don't talk about the medical qigong very much until you finish their program. You will have to just bear their fluff and buff crap until you get your license then you can start doing actual therapeutics. Once you start your clinic your result rate will be far beyond that of most therapists in your state. You just have to play their little game until you finish the school.
