I thought I did give a direct answer.  In my opinion, a Taoist wouldn´t get overly concerned with the gender identity of other people.  Unless the person in question is a partner or family member, there´s really nothing to "handle."  I´m happy to call acquintances by whatever pronoun they prefer.  When I use public bathrooms, I don´t much concern myself with the anatomy of peeing neighbors.  It´s a policy that has worked well for me.

Ok let me put it this way how would a Taoist handle it if he was at a convention and almost ran into a person in a full costume and said I am sorry sir for almost running into you.. Then the person in question started yelling and getting really upset that the person assumed there gender. What would they say to calm them down?

  2. It has been a long time since I have posted here. I do not really believe in any chi and mystical stuff anymore hence why I don't post here. But I still practice Kung fu and study martial arts for self defense purposes. Anywho in the last couple of years I have seen a lot of people online and in the news who talk of gender. Like there needs to be 50,000 genders and saying things like a woman can have a penis and such. Or people getting upset if you assume their gender. So I am wondering how would a Taoist handle this? What would a Taoist say to someone like this? If a Taoist meet someone and the person got upset that people were assuming their gender or that they did not feel comfortable using what ever restroom they wanted etc. What would a Taoist say to them?

Me personally I am reminded of the Taoist philosophy that once you name something it becomes less. Like if you call a chair a chair now you can not eat from it or use it as a night stand or use it as a ladder. It is only good for sitting.

    Thanks

  3. I am wondering if I can get some input on some ways I can incorporate wing chun and a knife or a baton. I know there are weapons the baat cham dao and the luk dim boon kwan. But I do not carry those with me. Also they would be a hassle and they are both double handed weapons. I am only interested in single handed weapons.

What I do carry with me is a knife with a 7 inch blade. Perfectly legal where I live. I also have a 2 foot baton. I do not carry the baton with me. But I can carry an expandable baton. So I am wondering if anyone has any advice on incorporating a single knife or a baton into wing chun?

    Thanks

  5. Are you being entirely honest with yourself ? Sometimes having a job is just as important as making a living from a job. Also, the money you currently get might be insufficient to have the kind of life you really want. Shuttering up your goals to suit circumstances isn't a great way to go about living. You should want to be productive and not let yourself be discouraged by circumstances. I wasn't forced to quit my job, it was a personal choice and one which took some courage to carry out. Like any change I wasn't entirely comfortable and, like you, I still had some concerns over my personal standing in the community. I do study, I have written and published a book and am writing a lengthy novel. Once I had direction then that was my new career path. Not an easy one and I haven't made a bean out of it, but I'm sticking at it. I don't advise just slouching about. If you have the time available then use it to gain new skills, improve your mind, fitted your body. Do what you like to do, but do it with passion.

I always learn something new I try and always learn. I would say I'm being honest with myself

  6. Because I preferred not to. I wanted to see what might develop if I stopped doing something that wasnt making me happy. Luckily I'm in a position that I can do that with some cutting back on lifestyle.

I am in a similar position for around about two and a half years I looked for work and I could just see the job I wanted disappearing more and more due to technology and a lot of jobs going that way. So I asked myself would I rather do a job I hate then just do nothing and be happy. I do get a monthly income that I can live on so I don't really need a job. So that is what I am doing now I am still grappling a little bit with the fact that society expects me to get a job.

In case you're wondering the job I was looking for was computer repair.

  7. So in America a popular way to get to know someone or to break the ice is to ask what a person does for a living. Well with the current rate technology is going jobs are going to become less and less and will become somewhat of a rarity. So I am wondering if anyone has any suggestions for icebreakers that people can use that do not involve asking what the person does for a living what do Eastern countries do and such as far as icebreakers go? What are the customs for ice breakers and getting to know someone in Eastern traditions?

  8. So was watching the jackie chan karate kid remake a couple of days ago and a thought struck me. If there any sequence of moves in kung fu that you guys can think of like the whole jacket on/ off thing? Like mundane things we do now-a-days but could be used in a kung fu form?

  9. So I go to different chat rooms and forums. I ask allot of questions. Now most of the places I get banned from give the reason that Im asking "stupid" questions or being annoying. Now yes I do tend to harp on a question and might ask it like 10 times in a chat room over the course of a couple of weeks. I also tend to say weird things late at night like "my mom always said to never run with a carrot after drinking milk" When I do say these things I am genuinely laughing when typing cause I find them funny. Are these banable offences? Like I would only ban someone if they threatened another individual or linked illegal porn or anything of that caliber. My question is what is banable for forums and chat rooms? Also if there is a banable offence why do the mods not try and correct the behavior?

    Thanks

  10. So whats the consensus on caffeine pills? I looking more form a general health perspective not from an Ayurvedic / tcm perspective. Thought I would ask here cause its a very diverse group here. I do prefer a redbull or nos but they have a ton of sugar and such and doing the math there is around 200 mg's of caffeine in a 20oz red bull and there is the same in 1 caffeine pill.

  11. Your crazy wisdom looks like arogancy

    How so? please explain?

Nope. Nobody notices me. I like it like that.

Btw, weren't you the one who recently wrapped himself up in a toga and then came here to ask what the wrapping method was called?

Yes yes I was and I still have yet to see what the wrapping method was called. toga was my best guess but no one has said if it is like a sarong or shawl or what.

  12. So if you ever met me in real life you would know I am weird. I attribute this to my high intellect. Thoughts on crazy wisdom and smarts?

    Anywho story time

So I was at a dinner with my friends and I was saying that I blend in with normal people as well as a chameleon does with its surrounding. My friends were like we love you and don't ever change but you blend in as well as a cheetah would with cows.

Anyone else in here play the mad fool?
