  1. Hey Dwai,

Thanks for suggesting Zahler's Inflame-X. It arrived yesterday, and I am already VERY impressed.

I've tried everything in the ingredients at one time or another (except the yucca... yucca?!... well, and the willow bark...), but there does seem to be something about the combination.

Got up this morning and actually wanted to DO stuff! No waiting for the caffeine and movement to get me going...

Maybe I'll try the moringa after this runs out...

    :)

  2. Hi Will,

A couple days last week I woke up in an incredibly happy state... for no obvious reason... just ridiculously happy...

And I noticed some part of my mind labeling that as "unreasonable" happiness. Like happiness has to be reasonable. Which made the happy part of me laugh a lot!

(And even now I notice I'm describing it as ridiculously happy.)

Some part of me obviously believes that feeling happy must be tethered to external events... And some other part of me knows very well that it is not.

  3. The OP reminds me of one specific time this happened to/through me. In a group, very intense moment, and, totally without intention or forethought, I suddenly started speaking, pretty much nailing stuff that was happening in the group, and which needed to STOP if the group was to survive. I was calling out friend and foe indiscriminantly, not in a blaming way, but totally clear and objective, things I hadn't even seen before. My voice was totally different from my normal voice, almost a choked feeling/sound, and there was huge pressure in my throat. Even now I get chills thinking about it. That... speaking... changed the trajectory of the group.

Never felt like it was me. Never happened again.

  4. dwai, doesn't Master Liao differentiate somehow between a general broadcast and then loading a specific message on that energy? (May have to go back to my dog-eared copy of the book here... do you recognize what I'm referring to?)

The way my teacher does it, you will move no matter what (unless you are empty enough that it goes through you). 99.999% of the world are not empty :)

That's what Scott says, that, out of thousands he has touched hands with, only a mere few have not held significant tension, which is the hand hold/lever that allows the person to be moved.  This actually fits really well with the energy sharer's statement that the energy shared can hit obstructions in the person, and this trigger reactions...

  6. So I'm wondering if transmission and energy sharing have something to do with this concept of triggering something the transmitter is targeting

in the other person... but takes some skill in identifying it and applying the initial charge...

This would be with intention, not just broadcasting a frequency of peace, silence, or tranquility...

@Dwai, Master Liao talked about broadcasting in his book Nine Nights... you have anything to add in that respect?

  7. Scott Meredith has an interesting way of describing what happens in fa jin, although I don't think he uses that label. He talks about how Ben Lo and others could move people without seeming to apply any real energy push, just a touch. What Meredith says (anybody who actually knows, please correct me if I am misstating!) is that he applies a tiny amount of energy which then acts as a trigger for the person's own compressed tension.  So it is like the detonater of a bomb... a tiny charge, which then sets off the explosion. The explosion is driven by the held tension in the receiver, not by the person moving him.   But it is not a simple thing! The person setting it off has to know how to find and target that tension in the person being tossed. Reading people's descriptions of being moved by Scott is great fun...

Just to add I am not claiming to know the answers just posing the question hoping for others to respond :)

I also don't know the answers! But REALLY am enjoying/appreciating the discussion!

So... a realized transmitter is transmitting something that is real for them and therefore... more... potent or effective in inducing the resonance in another?

Actually, a sobering thought in today's world.... which is maybe your main point in the OP... but I would apply that caution much more widely than just to "energy sharers".... And, yes, with anyone offering to share energy, careful attention is warranted.. to their... level of realization, and what they are focusing on in themselves, best as we can tell... peace? silence? harmony?  or... power over others? building a following? dissension? validating the "one true way"?

I have "received transmission" from enough teachers that I am extremely grateful for their resonating those qualities and focuses in me (if that's how we want to view it)... and I do also appreciate your point— careful who you open to resonating with! And just giving someone your attention opens you to resonating their stuff! Yikes! :D

I think the transmission of information is a pointing out to the receiver of what is already within them as a potential.

Yes, I pretty much agree, but there is SO much within each of us, how to emphasize just THAT?

i think energy sharers think they are literally sending energy from A to B.

So just energy, not content? So kind of sending a chi packet, but without ... meaning... attached?

I think Jeff was taking the mountain top thing in a traditional way, the sages on the mountain top kind of thing.  High up is also a more effective position for sending radio or any kind of transmission... so also a more effective position for sending out vibrations which may induce resonance for those who are similarly ... tuned?

How about something like "transmission-induced resonance"?

I am going to put it to you energy sharers that you are not doing what you think you are.

OK, I'll bite ( possibly generating more sighs and even groans! reverberating throughout DB land, lol)

I sort of get where you're going, but need to understand where you're starting from: what do you think energy sharers "think they are doing"? Are you saying they think they are operating through transmission (which would be...), but they are actually only operating through resonance (which you describe in your post)?

Also, I'm kind of intrigued by your conclusion that the recipients of fa jin are "clearly being manipulated into throwing themselves.." Is that how the people who can actually do it describe the process?

  12. Er, you don't seem to be "getting it" Aletheia...

Maybe it would help for you to read this again: (Maybe even bookmark it...)

TheDàoBums is an open internet forum for the discussion of the internal arts.  Outside the boundaries of any one tradition or school, though leaning toward eastern influenced thought and practices, it is eclectic, egalitarian and lively.  Membership is free of cost (though donations are accepted).

TDBs' Cultural Context and Founding Principles
The purpose of this document is to concisely state the most fundamental framework principles that give TDBs it's distinctive shape.  This is not "all the rules, permutations, etc",  just the steel beams.

TDBs exists in the general field of "The Search for Truth".
The Usual organized formats (schools) for The Search tend to have:
        1. focus exclusively within a school
        2. hierachical learning structure, hierachical ability to speak
TheDàoBums' founding principles form a deliberate cultural counter-point:
        1. run independently of any school, which allows a more eclectic atmosphere
        2. conversational learning, egalitarian ability for members to speak
TDBs' social format is "cafeteria", not "classroom".  It's part of TDBs' premise that, broadly in culture, these two formats are necessary, distinct yet complementary.

TheDàoBums has a strong egalitarian ethic in that it's whole purpose is to provide a civil very open context for member conversations.  However, its governance structure is mostly top down; it's not a democracy.
    - admins - own / run the board
    - moderators - enforce rules
    - members - converse  :)

    TDBs' Conversational Context:
    1. At TDBs member participation in conversation is non-hierarchical.  Meaning, members have equal ability to talk regardless of level of knowledge, achievement, or status / credentials of any kind.  TDBs has an underlying ethic of valuing the communication of each person.

    2. TDBs most basic rules about conversation are around civility(leaving enough flexibility for lively debate).  A moderator's basic role is to moderate members' uncivility toward each other in coversation.  Members support this process by 'reporting' offending posts.

A fictional example of how 1&2 shake out:
If there's a TDBs debate about music between Mozart vs a beginning piano player, and it becomes heated enough that reports are generated for moderator consideration then, still, "level of knowledge, achievement, or status" are not basis for moderation.  Civility is, applied equally to each member.

It's up to each member, not moderators, to sort out the truth (and other questions of quality) for themselves in conversation.  Moderators just keep the conversation civil within reasonable limits.  For issues of staff bias, members can contact the current admin.

The staff (admins, moderators) also deserve and have protection against uncivility and against abuse of staff resources.  Staff protection is enforced at the discretion of the admin.  The admin also has broad discretion to protect the civility and resources of any aspect within TDBs e-community.

The mods are not here to demonstrate, or judge, skills. They are here to keep us civil.

Their own skills and development are entirely their own business.
