  7. Bak Fu Sunn Yee Gong Complete level 1 DVD

Sifu Garry, How does one know they are ready to move on to level 2- are there any benchmarks or signs one should look for from practice of the complete level 1 dvd that would indicate its time to add level 2?
  8. Bak Fu Sunn Yee Gong Complete level 1 DVD

Awesome! Are there 18 complete levels (4X18=72?) or...? How do the other previously released dvds relate to the complete level 1?- are they the seated postures for the first 4 levels? trying to understand how the system fits together. Also, what kind of time frame are you looking at for all the complete levels/the whole system being released to the public?
  9. Bak Fu Sunn Yee Gong Complete level 1 DVD

After rewatching the video it seems for the fourth, the long form, you take 3 deep breaths at the beginning and end, correct?
  10. Bak Fu Sunn Yee Gong Complete level 1 DVD

Second question Sifu Garry- for the short form, you take 2 deep breaths, one breath (exhale-inhale) using the 1 breath percentage, then 2 deep breaths to come out? And for the long form, its not clear- do you start with three deep breaths, THEN do three breaths with the 3 breath percentages, or do you start right into the breath percentages without the preliminary 3 deep breaths? And do you take three deep breaths at the end to come out? thanks

  14. Bak Fu Sunn Yee Gong Complete level 1 DVD

Maybe just one little lightning bolt from my pinkie?
  15. Bak Fu Sunn Yee Gong Complete level 1 DVD

Does this dvd contain the breath percentages? Do you end like FP with 3 deep breaths, the last one ending with an open-mouthed loud exhale? Also Sifu Garry, can you expand on the specific health benefits conferred by this dvd? thanks-
  16. TaoMeow on Coffee

Thanks for the comprehensive response Taomeow. I know you're down on Starbucks coffee, but are you familiar with the expensive Clover machine that some locations have? It doesn't use a paper filter but rather a metal screen so I think the coffee it produces would retain the oils and their benefits you speak of? Wonder what other foods/beverages you recommend for increasing jing?
  17. TaoMeow on Coffee

Taomeow, Curious as to your thoughts on the following, excerpted from an article on jing here http://www.rawforestfoodsblog.com/what-really-is-jing/ Similarly, reliance on coffee borrows from—depletes the—jing. Is it sometimes necessary to do so? Possibly, but keep in mind that jing is finite and is not bottomless, and that every time coffee is drank, a bit of jing is subtracted from the life span. Just as every time fossil fuels are burnt, the lifespan of the earth is shortened. Chinese medicine is very different from Western medicine: where Western medicine views everything as separate, both in microcosm (within the body) and in macrocosm (outside of the body), in Chinese medicine there is no separation, and the same pathology which can affect a person can affect the environment.
  18. Bak Fu Pai's Sunn Yee Gong-Q&A

WBBM, I think I read on one of the threads that its OK to do both FP and SYG as long as they are seperated in time? Is that correct?
  19. Bak Fu Pai's Sunn Yee Gong-Q&A

I'm going to guess that the breath percentages make all chikungs/exercises work on shen more?
  20. Bak Fu Pai's Sunn Yee Gong-Q&A

Garry, Curious as to your thoughts on something. I have been learning various forms of chi kung for 20 years. Until encountering flying phoenix, i had never before known of a chi kung system that uses the breath percentages, and I have learned many. And not only do I find GMDW's chi kungs much more powerful than the other forms I've learned, but they ALL seem to have these breath percentages, while simultaneously coming from many different sources (goddesses, wanderers, trades with others...) It seems like a big coincidence that the GM's family would 'bump into' other people whose chi kung also had breath percentages- what are your thoughts on this? Seems weird that all his chikungs are crazy powerful, all have breath percentages, and all come from different sources....
  21. Flying Phoenix Chi Kung

There have been numerous occasions when I have taken a break from work and gone out to my car, in a busy parking lot, to practice Monk Holding Pearl. Frequently I would be disturbed by others slamming their car doors, talking loudly outside my car....It was very uncomfortable
  22. Suffice it to say that the ju ju shen gong /iron crotch training is rather expensive and after taking my money he spent practically no time with me and handed me off to his students. Instruction was minimal. I was also told that English translation would be provided (as he doesn't speak english) and he assigned this duty to one of his students whose English wasn't great (nor was his Chinese). This is a potentially dangerous practice, particularly as weights start to increase (he has students lifting over 200 pounds) and due to my lack of faith in the comprehensiveness/quality in the training I received , I discontinued the practice. Although I have never trained with him, I have heard excellent things about Sifu James McNeil, who also teaches this practice.
  23. I trained with Tu Jin Sheng previously, wouldn't recommend him

Antares, Though I am not an expert, It is my understanding that taoists/buddhists/TCM do not have the same definition of spirit as we do in the west. I think the closest approximation in TCM, for example, would be the shen, which is also related to the heart and mind, but I do not think that it connotes the same qualities of immortality as the western term 'spirit' does. I believe that in TCM the spirit and body are much more INTEGRATED than they are from a Western perspective. From my own experience, I would say that FP definitely works on the mind, imparting a blissful, long lasting and penetrating calm to it, hitting the nexus where mind and body co-mingle. In regards to immortality, I cannot speak to it (yet : ) as it pertains to FP. Sifu Terry, if I am incorrect in what I've written, please feel free to correct me-
