  1. I read anything I can find. Lately I've been studying electrotherapy, chemistry, physics, and electromagnetic pulse motors.
  2. I came across this article last night, tried it out this morning, and within a few minutes the cloud was gone. The theory is, that you are siphoning "orgone energy" away from the clouds and causing them to dissolve. http://educate-yourself.org/tjc/visualray21may0.shtml http://educate-yourself.org/cn/visualrayre...ed03apr07.shtml Has anybody else studied this "Orgone" energy? I've known about it for a while, but I admit I've mostly ignored it. I might start meditating in an orgone box. From a Taoist standpoint, two things immediately spring to mind: 1. According to the theory presented, you're taking this energy into your body, and some have reported meditation-like states resulting, as well as orgasmic sensations. This might be a safer (more effective?) alternative to sun-gazing. 2. I can't help but think about the supposed public demonstration of a Taoist master (I forget who) "parting the clouds" and wonder if he was actually employing the "visual ray" trick. Thoughts?
  3. Full-lotus fallacy

I first started practicing meditation while laying in bed at night. I would focus on my breathing for about 20-40 minutes, until I fell asleep. My early progress was mind-blowing. These days I mostly meditate in a recliner while sitting in half-lotus (there's an hour and a half of crap TV between The Simpsons and South Park, so I dedicate that to meditation). Once again, I'm amazed at my progress. I think that an important key is to be comfortable to the point where you can actually be mindful and continue noting sensations, rather than thinking about how much your back hurts or your knees ache (although, to be fair, I do spend about a half hour every morning on the cushion).
  4. Hey guys!

I'm brand new to the forum and just wanted to say hi. I began practicing Taoism about six years ago after stumbling across a few Alan Watts books, and then diving into the classic texts. Somehow, I got lost about two years ago (fell into depression, anxiety, alcoholism, chronic unemployment...it wasn't pretty), but I've recently continued my practice, with amazing results. I'm hoping that my membership on this board will help keep me on the path.
