  2. Reason for Ethics and not FREEDOM DESIRED

You can actually read it in many ways. If u meditate u shall know how it is 'easy' to calm down in the proper environment: for me that's a quiet, silent, almost dark evening. But what if u need to meditate in a crowdy place ? What if u want to 'meditate' in your daily life ? Another reading. For somebody who is compassionate and wants to help others, the poor for instance, do u think it is wiser to go to Africa with the Missionaries and help running a home for the poor or getting to a successfull business career and make a lot of money ? In my opinion, u are hardly 'close to your destination' if your goal is dropping everything when u have little of nothing to drop. Except of course if u get there after having had a lot. It is the same in every Art. The painter studies the technique of painting with a master for many years, copies the works of famous painters of the past as close as possible to the original. Once he gets there, once he possesses the ability THEN he can let it go and let his soul come out. Check the works of a young and old Picasso and you'll see what I mean. You cannot simply let go the *technique* of painting before you have mastered it. Nice talking to u YM
  3. Reason for Ethics and not FREEDOM DESIRED

Yes, everything must be dropped - but before you drop something you must have it first. It is easy for somebody who is extremely poor to drop the greed for money, but the process asks for you to get rich first. Drop your money then and you might be on the right path. YM
  4. daojiao and kenosis

Thank you, Riyue, that was an excellent passage from Prof. Saso. And, yes, that's the way of Chinese Daoism. YM
  5. daojiao and kenosis

That selective quoting out of context is misleading YM
  6. Reason for Ethics and not FREEDOM DESIRED

You are selling popular believes for Daoism to make money, which is already not good in itself. To do this you pretend to be what you are not and when questioned on specific issues you simply avoid replying and try to attack back whomever questions you. Talking to you it's of course 嘥氣 (a waste of time) but if it helps let people see your real face I am still available for discussion. Be well, my dear daoist YM
  7. Tao Meditation

(One of) The goal of reverse breathing is not to 'take in more air'. On the contrary it is to reach 'internal breathing' where little (or no) air is actually involved YM
  8. Taiji ~ Death Touch or Healing Hand?

    No, it is not YM

I see and understand where you are coming from, as expected Be well and good luck to those falling for your costumes ... YM
  11. Reason for Ethics and not FREEDOM DESIRED

If you have what you should, as you say, then I guess there is no problem to let us know: - your generation and related character - the kind of register 錄 you have and what degree 品 you are entitled - a precise description of the General that governs your birth and the associated mantra I have to add that this information is not a secret in the Zhengyi sect and actually is shared when requested by fellow Daoists to recognize each others. For your information, I am a 'Da' 大 character. YM
  12. Reason for Ethics and not FREEDOM DESIRED

I did not ask about the situation in China, I asked if YOU received a register YM
  13. Reason for Ethics and not FREEDOM DESIRED

So if you studied with a Dragon-Tiger (Zhengyi) Master you should have received registers 受錄 right ? YM
  14. Reason for Ethics and not FREEDOM DESIRED

It's nice of you to put yourself at the same level of Zhang Daoling, the founder of Daoism 2000 years ago. Very Daoist, especially in a thread you titled 'Daoist' *Ethics* ... LOL YM
  15. Reason for Ethics and not FREEDOM DESIRED

I see. So one is a secret one that we cannot know because us knowing might ruin his training. The other(s) are immortals/divinities descended from Heaven to teach you. Great YM
  16. Reason for Ethics and not FREEDOM DESIRED

KTS, since you keep talking about the importance of a Master and a traditional lineage would you mind share with us your lineage i.e. name of at least 3-4 teacher, grandteacher etc. above you. Also, as your actual line 道派 seems to be a new one (am I correct to read you are the first in this line ?) can you tell us what original Daoist lines where your teachers from and a few more related informations ? Thanks YM
  17. FU introductions

LOL You are on your way to make a lot of friends in the west, good luck to you too ! YM
  18. A sect of Taoism that Brings Fortune to all

Frankly speaking that was not my reading but I guess only Pietro knows Money is exactly, in my opinion, one of those things that have a subjective value more than an objective one But that's only my perspective, of course YM
  19. A sect of Taoism that Brings Fortune to all

I take that 'value' in a purely historical perspective, not a personal judgement of the thing itself. Anything has the value that *you* give it, regardless of its objective worth. YM
  20. A sect of Taoism that Brings Fortune to all

The point of the discussion, and the excellent summary made by Pietro, is NOT whether 'western *daoism*' can be useful and if it is *better or worse* than its chinese counterpart. Daoism is the english translation of the chinese term "Daojiao" which literally means "Tradition of Dao". This term has been used since the warring states but it referred to ANYTHING related to the "Dao" (not Daojiao) and in this sense in fact it was largely used to refer mainly to Confucians. "Dao" is not exclusive of Daoists but it is a fundamental *thing* in all chinese culture, but "Dao" and "Daoism" (Daojiao) are NOT the same thing. The term Daojiao has been utilized to refer to actual Daoists ONLY during C.E. Those referred claimed a DIRECT relationship with the sages of old (Lao Zi among others) from whence they received a transmission which they evolved into an organized form of cultivation/worship. This Tradition, in their own words, can only be claimed when a DIRECT transmission occurs. During chinese history ALL scholars read and studied ALL the original classics, including the Daode Jing. Many even made commentaries reading, in the Daode jing, anything according to their own understanding. Needless to say, nobody claimed to be Daoist and in fact openly continued to be Confucian, Buddhist or what-have-you. YM

Dear Stig, nice of you to try and pacify RW's soul. Your reading is correct, of course, as I have already pointed out to RW in that same thread: I am afraid, however, that we are now both wasting our time because RW has made up his mind already. It is no big deal YM
