  1. As a child of Parents who grew up in the Great Depression late  (1929 thru the 30's) several values were taught to me as a child.

Honesty or as both my Dad and Maternal granddad put it Don't play or fux with anyone else's money.

You can't be expected to help everyone, but you are damn sure expected to help someone.

My grandmother had a disabled sibling, did not know that my Grandparents were her sole supporters, until long after their passing.

Pay your self every week, put something away for a rainy day.

Work hard and expect a fair wage.

  2. At my age and the age of most all of my friends phone calls are how we stay in touch.

That and the occasional gift dropped off personally, with a call from the phone upon delivery, and a wave from the vehicle.

Postcards are traded with the youngsters, who draw pictures as they learn to read my scrawl style.

I treasure my friends and family, and it is an effort to keep in touch.

But it so worth any effort!

I think what passes for "manly" courage is often anything but.  Recklessness can be a kind of armoring, a shield used to protect against vulnerability: I´m afraid of death so I act recklessly to convince myself of my immortality.  True courage, to my mind, is a stereotypically feminine virtue.  It takes courage to be soft in a hard world, courage to acknowledge and live from one´s feeling heart, courage to be open.

Watch any mothers child be endangered...

To do so will define Courage, Love and Selfishness...

Woman be a whole whole lot tougher than we often give them credit for!

  4. I  don't know as many languages as my dog does.

Or at least as able as she to get my point across either orally or verbally.

Use to be when E. F. Hutton talks everyone listens.

However when Tanya communicates every one is interested...

Or not at their own peril.

She would take umbrage though at being something she is not.

So to speak she is a female, and a canine, not a manly woman.

Her tribe is after all Matronly, another poorly applied label.

For which I beg your forgiveness of my ignorance.

  5. I have thought a bit more on this topic fear.

Guns, I am fearful of guns.

First shot one over 50 years ago, and I still am a bit uncomfortable around guns and people

A gun in my hands requires an increased level of awareness / focus, and always gets it.

A gun in anyone else's hands results in a super high increase of awareness / focus by me.

I can control my fear of them by avoiding people with guns whenever possible.

  6. I doubt that one can or even should ever overcome fear completely.

I think it would be ignorant not to feel fear from time to time, in particular in new situations.

You correctly described the fight or flight response to external stimuli not anticipated.

After a rush of adrenaline I would expect some introspection, questioning what happened as well as how I reacted, versus how I wished I would have responded.

The adrenaline allows for quick reactions, not so much thoughtful action.

Was walking along with my dog and a lady friend when 2 other dogs started to attack my dog. I dropped the leash and got the hell out of the way as fast as I could. Then suddenly I was among the dogs with  a huge branch. I have no idea how I found the branch or that I could yell stop with that much Authority. Once the dogs separated and I calmed down I wondered what had happened, why did I react / behave as I did? Lady friend said I did well, I wasn't so sure.

Started stopping to look for external appreciation after that... still struggle with external appreciation... and keep an eye wide open when walking now, mostly with a big stick, lol.

    Ymmv.

Which part of my two sentences you did not understand?

The audacity of making such a bold or arrogant statement:

Well, looking at the stats, seems like nature does care about their beliefs.

    Always experience follows belief.

You are welcome to that belief personally.

But to ascribe it to others, I find questionable at best.

I find a grand pronouncement like that more than a little hubristic.

Actually, the behavioral changes are related to social issues. Enlightened civilizations don't have any of thee things... Or COVID.

Most of all, an enlightened civilization wouldn't be handling that kind of crisis in such a self-destructive fashion.

While I would not go as far as calling Sweden an advanced civilization, I do think that it probably handled the pandemic better than any other nation so far. No lockdowns, no restrictions to speak of, no businesses going bankrupt... No more than a few behavioral recommendations - not including the wearing of masks!

Constantly being poo-pooed by other nations right from the beginning, that are untiredly painting dire pictures of the upcoming doom that is inevitably going to befall the Swedish, I do think the statistics speak for themselves:

Currently 267,953 cases of positive test results (out of a population of 10,327.589) of which no more than 249 (0,1%) are in a serious condition!

    Meanwhile, in neighbouring Brunei....

Brunei covid free for 7 months. No panic there, I'd say.
