  1. A FU that a taoist drinks

That helps, thank you. Know other "traditions" that have similar ways but things get confused by words, so am just trying to get a clearer view. No matter what language is spoken things get confused with this sort of stuff very easily, it seems. i understand that there are many variables involved. Thank you for taking the time to answer my questions, I appreciate it! Good night! ... it is 1:30 in the morning already here? Gotta get off this computer soon!LOL
  2. Same. heres another link to Half dot com about that to start with. There is an older version or printing of this book that is beautiful in it's layout. Very artful. Think the information should be the same for the most part. Am sure there might be a little reedited and some added but don't really know. Looked for it just now at half.com and it is there starting at around 4.99. Have done well with books from there. As many things as they have in this book ... most things they give a little info on, Take just one heading from it and they could have written a whole book of equal size ... or ten! Think about how much history, how much study people have put into these things. There is so much more to be said than what one person, in one life, could ever compile. Let alone so many perspectives to draw upon! LOL, I agree though, it is a good book! Scott, Are you interested in CM? There are actually starting to be some good podcasts on itunes out there now? Some basic intro stuff(foundation that's always good!) as well as some more in depth stuff, too! ... I've seen the older version of this book(tall and skinny book) in a lot of discount book stores which is always a shock! Think they must have grossly over printed it or something, It's like treasure!!! Well worth picking up if you(anyone) see it! Even if it's just to share with someone else in your life that's into such things, makes a great gift! Sweet dreams! Shon Mak Tin Si, Will go back and check out your post on taoist medics, afraid I missed it, but would like to see what you have to say! Stay well all!
  3. This is one printing of it ~ Amazon Link If you search around for it you can usually find it for around 7 or 8 bucks. It's a quick reference book. A little information on a lot of stuff. It the kind of book that gives a good quick introduction to things so you can then go and research them your self better. So You Can further look things up in other books or Google them. With any herbs, or anything, you REALLY want to do further research!!! Somethings the effects are very much dependent on other factors! ... take an herb wrong and it Will Bite you back, lol! (or just kill you.) Other factors can be things like how it's prepared, what other herbs it is mixed with, And all that stuff to do with what's going on "elementally" in the body. Is a good book, but read others along side it. ...And always consult someone who actually knows about such things! Thanks for putting it up here Scott! Think it is an often overlooked book, with some very cool stuff in it! Like the information on "patent herbs" in there. Peace! Shon
  4. A FU that a taoist drinks

Hello Mak Tin Si How is it drank? Do you mean it's like, or is, an energized water? Or Something like an image on something/a substance that dissolves into the water? How is this done? Do folks find themselves to become more sensitive(or overly sensitive) working with this kind of Fu? also you mentioned using Fu's in acupuncture in another thread, don't know which one now though so am asking here? Am interested to know how a Fu can be used in acupuncture also? Wondering How this is done? I know people who use gemstone elixirs on the needles, is it similar? Or more of a direct energy with out a carrier/substance to transmit the energy? Or the energy along with needle insertion, or insertion in certain patterns? Sorry for my lack of understanding Mak, and for all the questions! Thank you for sharing your information. Stay well, Shon * edit * I see in some of your other posts the mention of burning the fu, mixing the ash with water and then drinking it, Is this Fu drank the same way? Thank you
  5. Hairloss

  6. Hairloss

...NOT taking showers can be a health risk! First, as you said, take care of your diet. For everything! not just your beautiful locks! You may have had more zinc in your diet for one thing, If you are eating fast foods you had less of those saturated fats? If you eat meat( I do not know) I imagine, you have enough manganese( sp?). Personally that stuff effects my liver and I get um, a bit ? Angry??? To say it nicely, LOL. The glandular system (& everything!) is effected by stress. So? You just got back to school?!? Hmm? You can do a self massage to ( don't know a better way of saying this, sorry!) "milk the glands". It's very easy to do, good for men or women, should be able to find info on the Internet for it. Take care of the things that are easy to fix like your diet before stressing over weather your next shower is going to kill you!!! Enjoy life while it's here to be enjoyed! MAL ! Mal?Mal. Do not eat hair!!! Your own or others!?! There is NO Way that could be good for you! Weather it's organic and natural or dyed! LOL, I know so many Asian Americans who are looking for a way to re-grow the fro! Darin? Your hair is great, kid??? I'm sure your girl still can't keep her hands away! Not to make any of you blush of anything but Girls love the heads of the guys they love! You can ask Almost any girl over 16 what Was the first thing she noticed about her guy? I can Almost promise it was not the hair! Sweet dreams now, Shon Darn this thing? Shoot ? I can't spell, and my thing keeps putting the wrong words in for me? It deleted whole bunch of random things and I am sorry if none of this is readable, LOL! Will try and fix it when I get to a real computer, this thing I'm writing on is Tiny!! Good luck with the chi gong too, that seems like it would help! Goodnight!
  7. Michael Lomax

Just checked the book out on "Goodreads"(book site) and there wasn't much of a description but what is there sounds interesting? Would like to check it out, my book pile is high but will keep my eyes open for it now. Thanks for the reviews up here! What Micheal said ~ "... in more detail is there listed Stillness-Movement Qigong complete with the acupuncture Pt. sequence" If this is done well, with good descriptions and hopefully some pictures, This in it's self would be well worth 25 bucks? Have purchased some flippin' horrific acupuncture books for much more, LOL. So Micheal? Is this description good? After it was printed were you satisfied with it yourself? Thank you, Shon Have you posted the sequence anyplace here? Do You find a difference in the time that it is practiced? Thanks!
  8. Hello

Nice to meet you, glad your here! ...This is a mostly pretty good rotten bunch of bums! Think you'll enjoy it all! What kind of martial arts do you practice ? Their are some interesting folks here, some good hearts, some rotten attitudes, and Wonderful knowledge though a lot of it is hidden between the words. Haven't met a single one here yet that wasn't worth sitting and having a cup of tea (your drink of choice here) with. What have you seen here so far, in your lurking, that caught your eye? Stay well, Shon Have fun! *blush* LOL ... Can I call you Ranger!?!

That may be how things seem but remember that That Is Very Real for some folks. Other perspectives and practices. What offends one is a kindness for another. peace to all shon please don't turn this thread into a rant.

  12. hi there

Hi MattT! Am a North Eastern Bum myself! Hope your staying warm! Think there are taoists of every faith here! Some interesting folks. Had just seen a video on you tube of Andrew Harvey and had checked out some of his books, but don't think I've read any of them yet? He had a few that peaked my curiosity though. He seems to right on everything, lol, very prolific fellow. Had you read other things by him, do you like his writing in the book you mentioned? Stay well, hope you have fun here! Shon I'm not necessarily not Christian, lol (depends on who's definition you go by?) but by Christ you mean Jesus, right? He is/was a pretty good guy, nice mom too. Good family all in all I'm told! Enjoy! Stay warm! Have you read the book "Lamb"?
  13. Daoists usually die

You, my friend are obviously Not a psychopomp? Every meditation. Be it emptiness or laying in shavasana. Every breath, the rest between an inhale or ex, Is an action of practicing death. The stillness within the movement and the movement within the stillness. Watch the way the water feels as the currents change with the tide. Life and Death are only ever practiced together. No other way. anyway.... "Realizing after their death they will be reborn into another world similar to this one after having their memories erased, to repeat the cycle of death and rebirth into infinity until they can find a way out....... maybe thats just me..... sorry for being so morbid..." This? Yeah, this is just you! Any of you ever have to spend a night or two in a covered pit? LOL, Give it a try! ...if you don't mind bugs , yuck. Another great way of practicing such.

I think I mentioned in my first reply or so that you look like a freind, I've enjoyed your friendship up here, been nice to meet you! But kid? Is it me or does something sound just not right about this??? "...work is still good... I have a wonderful girlfriend... Life is much better ...still trying to figure out what went wrong." Is it just me??? Sure sounds like things went pretty right? Maybe you just needed a good woman to help you assend? Most things happen when the timing is right, not when we think the timing is right, hmmm? Stay sweet and have fun with it all, I bet you might just be learning some things you had never dreamed of, LOL! See ya, shon *sorry for any bad spelling' or shloppy typping!

  21. What are you getting for the holidays?

Hi Marbles! Just a quick note DZI beads can be found. Easily for under 10 bucks Find them for 5 already made up into a bracelet. Most out there ARE repros, only some repros are very old so more money. They are made out of agates, that for lack of a better word are " batiqued". For a long time folks couldn't figure out how they were made so lots of Fantastic stories were told about them And sorry, kids, but mystisym sells. At times the better the stories the better The price, LOL, a shame maybe, but true. The book you mentioned is a good one. It's a good introuduction to a lot of stones. Most of the pictures are good. It is just little bits of info but most of the info seems pretty on target. Good luck, have fun, don't need to spend bunches! The cheep ones feel just as nice usually:) The more u work with anything the better it will feal. Good night! Sorry for any bad spelling, LOL! Shon

And yes, Breathing holes, good idea! not sure i'd know what to do with one of them let alone two?!? So? How much is shipping? Hmm, do i have to choose? Creative chef or mischievous smile? Lover of food, Lover of life! Oh, but I do like to make sweet mischief? That is tough. They do sound wonderful Rain! Either one will do fine I'm sure! With your recommendation I am sure they are both wonderful fellows! How do you know them? Are you trying to send your brothers away? I have a couple I can trade you! LOL, Thanks! StarJumper! What are you? and what are you looking for? Good luck! Rain, I really was joking, darn it, Now you've totally peaked my interest!!! What's a girl to do! Sad your all so far away! Stay well, Shon
  24. The Wood Fish and Hing in Taoism

Mmm, very cool? In a lot of traditions folks will use a bell, gong type thing, drum, rattle or something like that to call in the spirits? That is not what this is for, right? Is there some ceremonies or things used like this though? Thanks Mak_Tin_Si Sorry if you had already mentioned this stuff in another thread, not to repeat yourself but if you could refer back to it, I would appreciate it. Thank you! ... am slow catching up on them all! Think I've missed many posts this past week or two! Stay well, Shon Look forward to reading more!
