  1. He has actually published part of an email here, where an expert in the field reply that he doesn't understand music theory. I would not be surprised if an expert in physiology would have opinions on the view put forward as well.
  2. You could analyse the book, with a qualitative approach. Paste the text in Word, then cut away everything that is off topic, unclear, or otherwise irrelevant. Tell us how much is left. I did this, years ago, with the Idiot's guide. It became really short ๐Ÿ˜
  3. Google Scholar. It's a rather new area of medical research (the glymphatic system). Coherence breathing =Respiratory Sinus Arrythmia =Heart rate variability (more or less).
  4. If there was an TBI, in addition to the neural damage there will be a dysfunction of the brains cleaning system. You can look up the glymphatic system for reference. Coherence breathing combined with breathing towards the spine (not too much of that in the beginning) will work with the physiological bases of this, and will allow the other rehabilitation methods to work better.
  5. downward energy flow

Correct me if I am wrong, but aren't there threads devoted to the dangers of overtraining on the Shaolin Wahnam site? And a standing recommendation not to practice more than 15 minutes?
  6. 1) You cannot. 2) By having that goal, you might have broken already.
  7. Forum member "spotless". Missing messages.

This sounds mostly like you are pissed on him. If @Spotlessis the one you have named earlier, his teacher seems to have delegated enough teaching responsibilities to him that one might interpret that as at least some level of skill. Are there more to develope? Certainly, didn't Buddha tell that to his accomplished students (many left), didn't members of what is now known as Kashmir Shaivism discuss this with buddhists, 1000 years ago. But cannot this be said about most/all posters here? No matter the subject, there is more to learn? Health, martial skill, spirituality: We discuss it to the extent of our ability but it is hard to see that in relation to what we do not know/understand. My guess is that is somewhat implyed by @dwai with the stoning, in that these threads when individual or groups of members are discussed (often a good thing, to bring things up in the open) really easily becomes name callings and so on instead of focussing on the actual conflicts. And yes, I thought that the post clearly directed at @Earl Grey, @freeform and @Walker(was it only me that interpreted it as against these three members?) was way below someone with spotless' age and experience. Now, have I failed to annoy people? Please tell ๐Ÿ˜
  8. Introduction post + seeking advice on beginner practice

Welcome @foolishmonk We all do different things here, and it is human to divide things into on one hand "what I do" and on the other hand "what other people do". With that in mind, the dynamics here are more easy to understand.
  9. On walking

All the so called masters take a few things for granted. Examples: That you already know how to walk, and actually do that. That you get enough oxygen into your system so you are not in danger of brain damage ( that one is for ReturnDragon). That you are not starving. So comparing any of these states with the noble art of qi/nei/shen gong or any derivate therefrom (including but not limited to...................) is rather silly. Now, being silly helps while online, and silliness increases the posting here, so why not continue? Of course, sooner or later someone with a sensitive Liver is going to call you names, but that is to be expected.
  10. On walking

Ahhh. A statement that is easy to agree with. The forum version of a glas of cool water when you are thirsty.
  11. Zhan Zhuang Standing information

That is not the work you aim at with zz aimed at spiritual work. That would be a mistake you might do when you take a method which has another purpose, and call it spiritual. And @Master Logray, just because banned dragon is wrong about a subject, doesn't invalidate the subject itself.
  12. Zhan Zhuang Standing information

And, isn't it? At least those zz that has that as their primary aim.
  13. Zhan Zhuang Standing information

Testing martial skills are relatively easy, because you have a testable hypothesis (I have golden bell, I can hit like a mule, I am rooted). If your focus is health, it's more difficult. The proposition "my health has improved in a major way" is more difficult unless one backs it up with medical records or records of sick leave. And how do you test "I feel really, like, spiritual..."
  14. Zhan Zhuang Standing information

In my experience, IRL, the handful of teachers I have encountered (some of which had authored books on the subject) presented the subject in ways related to @Earl Grey, so from that I would say he is embracing a tradition. You might not like it, actually I found it bloody annoying when I did something proper according to one teacher and was corrected by another, but that is part of how this works.
  15. I should have warned about aussie peddlers, trying to shift their merchendise on unweary innocent bystanders. Back off, this is my sell๐Ÿ˜
  16. Yes, you know where you stand with clean socks.
  17. Good non-chinese internal practices

Yoga - The hindu section. Mo Pai - There used to be informative discussions on that subject, but the old classic threads have been hidden by Sean. A majority of the korean and japanese methods are closely related to the chinese. Some Indonesian methods have been mentioned on this site as have shamanistic traditions which you can find examples of from all over the planet, they are just not the focus for this particular site. Sufism, christian, and jewish methods, western magic traditions (some exponents of the later on this site, there is also a section for that).
  18. Zhan Zhuang Standing information

At least it seems to be a book people have read.
  19. Zhan Zhuang Standing information

Yes,.... True, and working with your posture and movement patterns is one great option when working on your emotions. There is more to it though, and overdoing it might become a problem in its own right.
  20. Zhan Zhuang Standing information

Most zz comes with guidlines, follow those and your shoulders will sink to a functional position over time. If you are not sure, get corrected by someone who knows what they are doing.
  21. If you want to progress in qigong the socks are of outmost importance. Don't listen to @steve, buy your socks at cleansox.se. We also have a special offer on qigong training matsโ„ข. We do not believe in shoes though, so avoid shoes at al costs.
  22. Zhan Zhuang Standing information

Speaking from another perspective, you can add things to the standing, we just have to argue what we add and if it is useful. Some traditions add micro movements, but that is not compatable with what I do. I add mudras, and mudras correllate to unfolding processes which I place my awareness on. One of these processes require a change in breathing pattern in a way that is similar to reverse breathing, but it comes more natural (to me) than the reverse breathing I was taught when I had a short Xing Yi-fling half a lifetime ago. But I see Earl Greys point, it is easy to add artificial colors and flavors to the mix hoping it will "pop".
  23. Where is Jeff? I would like to contact him

You'll find it in the Systems and teachers of section. Just scroll down.
  24. Here comes the over-the-counter tip: Pick any, probably doesn't matter. Followed by the advice: Consult someone who can help you find the root, and then choose exercises from that. Or, my favourite, take the time to immerse yourself in a good system. If it is good, it will probably work with all your issues, although in its time and not in the order you might prefer.
  25. So the next step is finding out why?
