  1. Some eastern ways and or teachers proclaim everything is perfect.... I'd say that is true and dandy for the Transcendent that is perfect and "beyond" suffering, it not so true and dandy for those suffering and short of Transcendent Freedom/Being. It's nuts to me to hear of the denial of suffering as being non-existent (aka intellectual by-passing) since it is a core teaching to overcome forms of suffering for most eastern way students and to also help others overcome same. Anyhow one can walk around all day long quoting so and so and say, "all is perfect" but I'd say that is not real (or of an actual realization) until it is so via attainment of Transcendent Freedom/Being.
  2. everything is perfect...?

Why is Lord Shiva called Neelkanth? During the churning of the cosmic ocean (Samudra Manthan), a deadly poison known as Halahala emerged, powerful enough to destroy the universe. To protect all of creation, Shiva selflessly consumed the poison, holding it in his throat. His neck turned blue from its impact, earning him the name Neelkanth, the one with the blue throat.
  3. everything is perfect...?

and certain brands of beer...but not Modelo imo.
  4. everything is perfect...?

true from just or only varying human perspectives, and I'd say that if only varying human perspectives were possible then we'd be SOL to ever know, be satisfied, and rest in a greater truth and beingness/source that is beyond change, corruption, ups and downs, etc..
  5. everything is perfect...?

Thanks, btw who doesn't suffer in one way or another over the adharmic or evil in the world including self realized saints and masters? (that feel for their students and all beings)
  6. everything is perfect...?

the working of karma is perfect but karma itself veils the perfect....
  7. everything is perfect...?

    right, thanks
  8. everything is perfect...?

not needed since you come off as seemingly knowing everything from A-Z...
  9. everything is perfect...?

"cherry picking" is not exactly a diplomatic term as generally used in conversation, if used for picking a motor out of car it has a more precise in meaning. And to me your explanation leaves lots of room for further interpretation. Btw, I'd say most Buddhists know of the story in their doctrine of how the historic Buddha almost killed himself through extreme methods that he picked which If I remember correctly included near starvation as being one of them...
  10. everything is perfect...?

think about your first sentence above Keith....Did not the historic Buddha teach to question things which you seem to be demeaning by calling it cherry picking? Btw did not that Buddha also do his share or forms of cherry picking along the way which almost killed him?
  11. everything is perfect...?

and of course Advaita Vedanta is only one of the many schools that range from A-Z in Hinduism (so to speak) and thus does represent all of Hinduism as some seem to take for granted.
  12. everything is perfect...?

not the same when or if written off as or bound in illusion.
  13. everything is perfect...?

well I'm no expert but I'd add free of karma and any mental or emotional form of conditioning...
  14. everything is perfect...?

That of course is your take Stirling, (thus a form of or general meaning per much of Buddhism?) Other non-Buddhist schools recognize the transcendent as being transcendent to (for instance not bound by) although at the same time also being part of or the manifest. ("goes far" and a "return" but also never really left, to paraphrase some sayings in Taoism)
  15. Stranger things

nope, but the wicked witch of the west monkeys did take some bites out of me along my way on the yellow brick road.
  16. Stranger things

in the 60's we'd say, "far out dude", which is still applicable in 2025
  17. Stranger things

when i was in 2nd grade our school bus had a route through some desert area where it ran over a Gila monster; its dead body supposedly got stuck between the dual wheels at the back of the bus but we were kept far away from getting a closer look to verify that. Anyway the event was talked about in awe and speculation for several days among us as to whether or not it it survived the run over and might still be around to bite one of us.... yikes
  18. Stranger things

good one but it doesn't sound like that would work with a short haired cat but with thick furred Persian-yes...also the story has parable potential.
  19. My misconceptions

I'm not familiar with many Buddhist sayings but a tangent on to the " two truths' saying my take would say awareness of the apparent and of the not-apparent at once.
  20. My misconceptions

human beings and I'd say all other types of created beings evolve, devolve or change... Spirit/Buddha nature/The Self/or your preferred term/ do not. But with beings that are going through particular changes one could say there are changing levels, states, or phases. Imo such is depicted in the Tibetan wheel of life. Cryptic like sayings about the absolute have different strokes for different folks.
  21. I'd say our mind aspect is dual and may know duality very well, namely down to the finest points but not non-duality which is beyond such...thus certain methods or certain masters can not force their way or their students to the "beyond" or past the threshold reached by wholesome practice, good fortune and balanced karma (which granted is extremely important) and then nail same down with the mind aspect. For That which can "know" without a shred of doubt already is and knows beyond regular knowing that can not be added to or taken away from or found in the mind aspect.
  22. What is the motive? Is there an attachment to the idea of something "inexplicable"? There is that saying along the lines of being careful of what you wish for...(and that which could be unexpected)
  23. Yes-But-Mind vs. Don't-Know-Mind

    ? "never say never"
  24. Yes-But-Mind vs. Don't-Know-Mind

rumor has it a new "Stargate" show may be in the works...
