  1. Hello everyone, there is an interesting thread on this forum which I recently commented on. It depicts a rabbit and a rooster opposite it. I thought a rabbit represents yin and a rooster represents yang. But I researched it further recently because it’s Chinese mid-autumn festival so I want to learn, and Chinese people call that rabbit (who is from the moon, which is yin) the Gold Rabbit or Jade Rabbit (I think gold and jade are yang). Or it is depicted as a male deity. But isn’t the rabbit yin and its opposite, the rooster, yang? Why is it named the Gold Rabbit or the Jade rabbit if gold and jade are yang? I’m confused.
  2. Mid-Autumn Festival confusion

Since moonlight is Yin, and women are supposedly Yin, does that mean women’s qi is Yin and men’s qi is Yang? if so, doesn’t that mean women may be affected negatively by the sunlight, which is very yang?
  3. I find this very surprising and interesting, especially because modern Chinese culture is very fond of business and trade. The ancient Chinese system seems to place traders at the bottom, then craftsmen above them, and peasants above them. Does anyone know why it was like this? Traders have a positive economic effect and only they can provide luxuries for the Emperor which are not local. So they must have had their reasons for doing so.
  4. I never said that the peasant was the top of the social pyramid, only that it was above the craftsmen and trader. Including any sources would be appreciated.
  5. Mid-Autumn Festival confusion

That was an interesting copy and paste, but it did not address my question, is the lunar rabbit in Daoism yin or yang? I assumed that because i thought the rabbit is yin, the rooster is yang. But now i don’t know. I think the animals of Daoism are important to know because of the 12 animals of the chinese calender.
  6. Huo Hou Tu Translation

This is an interesting conversation. at the beginning, you say you want to start with understanding the foundation. From your translation, it seems to say that this foundation is called jiu gong mingtang(九宫明堂)。but 九宫 means a type of chinese music. Does anyone know anything about this? on the left, the rabbit means yin. On the right, the rooster means yang. Am i correct? at the bottom, there are more characters which are about music. Such as the character 宮。it says there are 63 宮?? I am confused. i look forward to any further conversation about this
  7. Hi

Hello, i’m interested in learning about Daoism and ancient Chinese culture. I look forward to discussing this with you all. I’m just a regular person, who knows very little about Daoism. Thanks
