  1. New Tarot Forum Born

Thanks, I found it. It was my fault
  2. New Tarot Forum Born

Aha! I couldn't find an introductory section as we have in here? Have I gone blind or do I just make a new post anywhere? edit: I've gone blind; I found it lol
  3. New Tarot Forum Born

Haha! It says it here on the registration page on the left: Username: Length must be between 3 characters and 20 characters. Email address: Password: Password must be between 6 characters and 100 characters long, must contain letters in mixed case, must contain numbers and must contain symbols
  4. What's your Tai Chi (short) form like?

Woah, that first video blew me away. It's probably my favourite one so far on here. She's amazing. That second one was very interesting. It's very similar to what we do (although he seemed to stop a bit short and miss a few bits out unless he was doing them differently).
  5. What's your Tai Chi (short) form like?

Yeah, he would have broken his back several times in between the two videos. That's a fair point. Yes, I've heard similar stories. I'm not sure I'd want to train with him directly either, if they are true. It's interesting you say you were initially influenced by his books. Was it Opening the Energy Gates? Do you have things like outer dissolving in Temple style? I suppose strictly speaking outer dissolving isn't in Wu style either, so maybe not a great question. Yeah, some interesting points in the first paragraph. I think I would have liked to have seen him approaching Sam Masich as well. I'm not quite sure why it was so one-sided. As for the rest, quite amusing, especially the Feng story if it's true lol Also 'Moretalk Chia' I'm guessing he's another one you're not a fan of.

I had exactly the same problem and then I realised it actively wanted symbols in the password (unlike most other passwords I've had to make): I put a '#' in it. It's working fine now for me, and I've been able to sign up and login now. I shall await a red carpet.
  7. What's your Tai Chi (short) form like?

This is awesome. He's very graceful and flowing. What exactly is Tung Hu Ling? Is this a style of Tai Chi? Or a particular lineage of a major style?
  8. What's your Tai Chi (short) form like?

Now this is fascinating. I've not seen this Beijing-rotating-dan-tien Chen style before. Anyone want to comment on this or does anyone even do this?
  9. What's your Tai Chi (short) form like?

Woah, I stand corrected. I thought Steve's short frame Chen video was really martial but this is even wilder. I've never seen anything like this in Tai Chi before. It looks quite amazing. PS Yeah, that jump looks pretty tough, especially with the punch done right as well at the end of it.
  10. What's your Tai Chi (short) form like?

Very nice. This has to be the most overtly martial short form I've seen so far on this thread: loads of punches and kicks.
  11. What's your Tai Chi (short) form like?

From my perspective, it doesn't bother me what people want to say about Bruce on this thread (or in general). I would say, however, it might be more productive if we could analyse his videos rather than focusing on his character and hearsay. The first video is Bruce demonstrating Wu short form. To me, this looks awful. This second video is him demonstrating Ba Gua and fighting Sam Masich. To me, this looks quite skilful. I will, however, leave the proper analysis to the more experienced people.
  12. What's your Tai Chi (short) form like?

If you fancy sharing some YouTube videos of these Wu stylists as well, Dwai, I'd be interested to check them out.
  13. What's your Tai Chi (short) form like?

Thanks for the feedback, Steve. It was very interesting to read this and your background. Do you have any YouTube videos of some of the Wu stylists you rate? Also, I really liked that video. I was watching it yesterday. I loved all the various contraptions; they were absolutely fascinating to watch. I also found it quite amusing to see him keep getting backrubs from them.
  14. What's your Tai Chi (short) form like?

Okay, I'm sensing you're not a Bruce Frantzis fan, haha! A few thoughts: Because I have fascia and muscle problems, it has helped my health on a 'gross' physical level. A year ago I could do only seated Eight Pieces of Brocades and a few years before that I couldn't even do it seated. Now I've got to the point where I can go through the short form once before needing to take a break and sit down. Part of this progress is simply due to opening/loosening out my body through things like Wu Tai Chi and Cloud Hands. So I would have to agree with Miffymog in my particular case. I'm not worried about energy work or martial arts, yet; right now I'm literally just concerned with getting to grips with the basic shape and stretching out my body. Even Yang looks like it may be too 'big frame' for me, so I don't really have much choice anyway right now. Another thing I'd say is Bruce Frantzis isn't teaching me himself. My teacher isn't a direct clone; for example, he's done around five years of a Yang-derivative Tai Chi style. So things like this are going to influence his teaching. As I said to Flowing Hands further up, however, I'm not locked into any one style/lineage, so later on I may well switch to something else when I'm able (in fact, if I have to move in October, it's going to force the issue even sooner).
  15. It reminds me of evangelical churches without the religion (or Christianity, anyway).
  16. What's your Tai Chi (short) form like?

Very interesting to watch this (and your cats ).
  17. What's your Tai Chi (short) form like?

Yeah, I've been told 'play the guitar' is an arm break and also that there are lots of other martial arts moves in it. BKF's version, however, is focused on the health aspects, as far as I'm aware, which is the main reason I'm doing it. Later on, if I'm able, I may well explore something else for fighting. Yeah, if you get a chance to browse some of Dwai's video, I think you'll find it quite interesting and very different to the Wu ones. Yeah, even I can tell that with the first video she seems to be quite lifeless/limp. Also, she probably moves as I do at the moment: in an un-unified way. Her body doesn't seem to be moving as one all the time. As for the second video, she's quite outstanding, IMO, very graceful (and with power/life).
  18. What's your Tai Chi (short) form like?

Nice to see you joining in on the fun here, Starjumper! Yes, I thought the hand/arm movement was quite good as well on some of the strikes – very fluid and powerful, IMO. I was also pleased to see I could actually recognise some moves: needle to sea bottom, brush hands. Yang/Chen looks much bigger/wider than Wu and more martial. Also, there don't appear to be any kicks in short form Wu.
  19. Mo Pai and John Chang

Yeah, I've no idea who these people are, but I can't believe John Chang is the only person reputed to have 'special powers' even on places like yt. I don't really understand why so much drama surrounds Mo Pai on here; I'm obviously missing something in the history of this forum. Yeah, sound advice, IMO. I've held for a long time now that students are always a reflection of the kind of person the teacher is.
  20. The ethics of revenge

Interesting thread. For me: Self defence: doing whatever it takes to protect myself from a (physical) threat Revenge: getting even with someone who's wronged me when there is zero threat any more I don't really bother with revenge (as long as people leave me alone). This isn't because of 'karma' or that I'm a 'good' person, but simply because it's a waste of energy that could be better spent on my own goals. Also, it's more efficient to deal with my anger by myself, rather than having to chase people down and get even with them every time they 'wrong' me, IMO. My $0.02
  21. What's your Tai Chi (short) form like?

Yeah, I was guessing you'd been doing Temple for around 15 to 20 years: your practice looked very solid, IMO. Ah yes, I just looked back to my old thread at one of your comments: This all makes a lot more sense now that I've seen your video.
  22. What's your Tai Chi (short) form like?

Ah, I see, thanks. That's fascinating. Seatle185 said to me you follow Waysun Liao's school? I'm reading his T'ai Chi classics at the moment. It's quite interesting (what I can understand of it ). I've never really come across anything like that before related to tai chi.
  23. What's your Tai Chi (short) form like?

Yes, this is quite fascinating, although I'm not quite sure what it all meant. Do you not do a big form? The fajing and cleansing stuff was fascinating when you were breathing out hard. Is that training to bring chi into your strikes? It looked very powerful.
  24. What's your Tai Chi (short) form like?

No worries, thanks for having a go at sorting a video out. That's very interesting reading the rest of the paragraph. Have you had a look at Dwai's video on this thread? I can see a difference between his and the one I posted. Dwai seems to be a bit more in line with what you're talking about?
