  1. Merrry Spring?Autumns Equinox

    Bless ya'll.
  2. The Dhammapada

Great question, because there is a lot of difference between different translations. The one by Ananda Maitreya, with the Thich Nhat Hanh intro is MY FAVORITE! I highly recommend that one. Plus, it can fit in your pocket.

  4. PETA video shows pigs abused at Iowa farm

James, I think they're slightly more flawed than you, therefore, I agree with Jedi.
  5. Attacment and Beliefs

Although this answer is "dead" : yes. Good thoughts.

Without the dark night of the soul, how can the soul recognize the bright day? How can you have compassion for others without knowing intimately the darkness which causes their suffering?
  7. Spontaneous Adjustment Qi Kung seminar

Maybe the kunlun 1,2,3 part is the same. I would be curious to see what Max tweaked with it. Maybe nothing.
  8. Spontaneous Adjustment Qi Kung seminar

Yes it's different. But if I were you I'd do both!
  9. Kunlun San Diego and assorted musings

Patrick, although it's entertaining, you should probably be banned again. Edit: nevermind, just saw that he was for 45 days.
  10. Spontaneous Adjustment Qi Kung seminar

No it won't have that stuff, since those practices come from the Maoshan side, which Jenny wasn't a part of. I'm curious to see the difference in how she will teach it...but I can't make it. Are you going to go, Ape? Wanna write up a report?
  11. The Max Christensen Facts Not Fiction Thread.

This is pretty ugly. I personally won't reply here anymore. _/\_
  12. Kunlun San Diego and assorted musings

Very fun to read that, thanks Taomeow.
  13. The Max Christensen Facts Not Fiction Thread.

Spirit Ape asked Patrick about it, so I figured I'd post it, since this is the Max Christensen Facts thread. Understand now?
  14. The Max Christensen Facts Not Fiction Thread.

Max posted this in the kunlun forum regarding his Taoist name:
  15. The Max Christensen Facts Not Fiction Thread.

Why? Are you sure you're not confused about the science? Not saying you're wrong, I just want to discuss this more.
  16. new kunlun book

No, he was saying that if you don't follow the instructions you will get energy overload. But if you do follow instructions, you won't. Anything could be considered dangerous if you choose to do it incorrectly...like walking. You can't say walking is dangerous just because someone chooses to walk off of a cliff. Walking is safe so long as you listen to the advice given: "don't walk off of cliffs".
  17. The Red Sun practice

You can do it, physically. Just muster up the will to continue holding the breath despite your fear. Let go. I found that when you get past a certain point, a lot of bliss arises and the body feels as if it's dissolving.
  18. Who is /are Max's Egyptian teachers?

I disagree. I've never heard the argument FOR an uninformed perspective before. Interesting!
  19. Shaman trance music recommendations

Divine Sound by Omdasji. It used to be on cdbaby, but now I think you can find it on an MP3 download site. Edit: just found a website for it... http://dhyanyogiomdasji.com/
  20. Da Jia Hao!

The hard part is over, the rest is downhill.
  21. eating for qi

Although I'm not really an advanced practitioner...I agree 100%. Whole grains are only considered healthy because they can help in weight loss, but they have tons of negative side effects. Adding some kind of protein to white bread helps lower the glycemic load...so white bread isn't "unhealthy" like many people assume. I mean: who eats white bread by itself? The best kind is when you bake it yourself using higher quality flour (King Arthur)!
  22. It'd help if you two didn't swear at eachother and whatnot. Be nice and civil. Talk to the other person as if they were your grandma. Ape, would you call your grandma a "fuck knuckle"? I personally think saying that the video seems corny isn't so bad and isn't overstepping any bounds. You have the right to say that Patrick. I think it myself even...I can totally see how the video would turn people off. It almost turned me off. It gives kind of a false impression about the practice. There's no need to bicker over this, though. Especially in a violent way.
  23. Need a mantra

Isn't vipassana just a noting practice? So if you're going into a trance state, simply recognize it as that. You don't identify yourself as the one noting, and don't try to change things. At least that's how I understand the practice. When you are focusing on something like a mantra that's an entirely different kind of meditation. And with that type of meditation there's often a long drawn out period of going into different states of mind and falling asleep...so, I wouldn't be looking for a quick fix. BTW, I know that the two types of meditation are often combined, since you need a pretty good ability to focus before being able to step back and simply observe.
  24. Wan's "Gi Ma Sae"

Well thankfully he will be making no money from anyone who tries the gi ma sae technique. I will look forward to someone who has something useful to say about it.
