Forty-five years after the publication of The Way of the Shaman, I'm feeling compelled to revisit Michael Harner's work.

I would like to propose a new sub-forum/discussion dedicated to native African religions or indigenous religions/belief systems in general. I'm sure that unlike me there are people who have immense knowledge on the subject and the desire to share that knowledge. What do you think?

What made me seriously think about it was once listening to this englishman born and bread in England but with a Russian mother speaking of his experience while visiting Russia. He never felt identified with English culture but while in Russia altough sometimes feeling literally smashed by the cold he felt simultaneouslly extremelly happy to be amongst his people, those who really understood him 🙂

Genetically I should be 1/3 Norwegian. These videos just make me wish to visit Norway. So curious about what I would feel like there.

We do have dreams bigger than our egoic thought bubble, again if you start paying more attention to them you will find that for yourself. What you would find out as well and for example is that a big percentage of our dreams are premonitory. That goes way beyond our hopes and fears. As I'm not selling any dream programs for self- inprovement this will end my comments on this thread. Best of luck to you.

My comment was about your comment about dreams not about absolute truth. Dreams are a good tool for self-development because they mirror a deeper truth than the bs we tell ourselves. Regarding absolute truth I just don't believe in that anymore or concern about it. It is my experience that what we believe to be true rooted in deep material or spiritual experience can vanish in a moment. Truth doesn't settle anywhere, ever.

Many are, many aren't. If you start a dream journal you will realize that. You can deny your true feelings to yourself and your unconscious will show you otherwise, just like you can deny your attraction or aversion towards someone and your body will show you otherwise.

Glad to now know about the Babaylan. Thanks for sharing your experience and the video.

God wills, Man dreams, The Work is born. (Fernando Pessoa) That's pretty much what I feel about this one. Gamaliel comes to mind as well. Anyway, thank you moderation team for the sub-forum.

Going to be real busy in the next 24 hrs but I promise to give more attention and comment on your post later.

Always found this song amazing, specially SRV's version. However, Also love the way Orianthi doesn't dare to evoke the "Lords name in vain" Conclusion Ol' me must be some sort of "all inclusive" daoist. 1m48s

Indigenous was the word that came to my mind not to use others that might be offensive. Not the perfect adjective, indeed. Makes sense what you propose Apech. If the threads have any meaningful traffic then, we could consider a discussion sub-forum.

Tell me about the flag, I don't have a clue.

Why are you concerned about aliens? They're just out there, watching, filming for their tv documentaries about wildlife. That's all.

Well, it's sunday and I have tried to watch a film that I miss watching and today it seems impossible to find exept on dvd.The film is " Youth Without Youth" based on a novel by the Romanian Religions Historian, Mircea Eliade. It is a fun story about a guy that develops special powers after having an accident. At a certain point he starts comunicating with a "double". What's interesting about this is that the story is an allegory of the alchemical process and most probably the way that the author found to share some of his own experiences. More than this may be Carl Jung and the entities that came out of his unconscious to teach him. This can be found in his autobiography freely available online. Hope this helps somehow.

And there was light: an autobiography of Jacques Lusseyran A Parisian boy goes blind in an accident, which turns out to be a blessing in disguise, as he comes to inhabit a world of light unknown to those with healthy eyes.

A good alternative would be child's pose for those that (still) can't squat or on those days you're not willing to suffer. Also, there's the benefit of the abdominal massage in child's pose.
