  1. Standing Rock

I think the complaint is not just about it being on native land -- but rather, about the predictable (a given) leakage of a pipeline possibly affecting a river and groundwater supply once in place. But I think it very quickly became more of a "moral of it" issue due to the pathetic management response. RC
  2. Fake News

Oh, well that too, that was actual testimonials by numerous former Facebook staff, saying that what was 'trending' was either removed in some cases, or the links sent to certain kinds of sources not others for a given topic, or suppressed altogether, or simply put there when it wasn't trending at all, to 'make' it trending. The complaint wasn't that facebook doesn't have the right to do as they wish given they are privately owned, but rather, that the 'trending' implies that the listing is based on a technical reading of reality and not arbitrary human staff decisions with agenda. RC
  3. Fake News

And twitter's primary investor (aside from one of the original founders) at over 5% stock is a middle eastern prince. Twitter arbitrarily just removes some hashtags (the labels that topics group by and are found by) they decide are inappropriate. To say their decisions have been called into question is a massive understatement. As an absolutely amazing coincidence, the people complaining about this seem to be on the conservative side (e.g. James Woods) rather than the other... they banned what they call 'alt-right' but actually support openly jihadist stuff. So.... https://twitter.com/RealJamesWoods Also there are numerous screenshot examples of the precisely same things said by black vs. white people or sometimes, rather extreme things by one and not the other, and the white people get literally banned for terms violations while "no violations were found" after complaints against the other -- which is really kind of bizarre -- but it seems like some kind of reverse racism. Really the list goes on. I KNEW that having privately owned social media that became huge would be an open social control psych experiment, and end up arbitrary and political. It was inevitable. RC
  4. Fake News

Well it is not just that some stories range from completely untrue to varying degrees of accurate. It is also a fake at the whole level of being a news source PERIOD -- like blacking out riots in france 20 years ago for nearly a week, then reporting them as 'disaffected youths' rather than hordes of male middle eastern men yelling allah akbar and throwing molotov cocktails. Like not even mentioning the standing r--- oh look! A pony! Did you hear about Kim's new dress? Like carefully not featuring the most amazing things from wikileaks about current elected leaders while obsessing on some quip Trump said privately in passing to some guy many years ago. It's really a problem far more fundamental and encompassing than merely the accuracy of a given story. Oh yeah, And a TON of allegedly objective 'journalists' are on record as being in collusion with the Clinton campaign to sway readers in that favor --- ahhhhh wikileaks. RC
  5. Fake News

Yes. The news sources that are fakers, are running stories about fake news pointing the finger at others, while plenty of people now familiar with the term, are referring to all news they don't like as fake news. Give it another month or three and the term will have no recognizable meaning worth paying attention to at all. Which will probably, by accident or design, perfectly serve the purpose of the news sources that started it all to begin with! RC

I just want to mention that water guns in sub-freezing temps are not like a water hose. They're like a giant gun for a high-powered stream of sharp rocks. RC
  7. Fake News

I've noticed how often the re-definition of reality for spin reasons begins with the re-definition of terms. Nobody ever said that an individual posting a meme picture was news. CNN however bills itself as news. And the rest. So "fake news" cannot by default be the free speech of individuals. But it sums up a shocking % of the propaganda on the alleged news channels. But the minute that started to become an openly stated thing, they instantly started pointing the finger at OTHER sources -- not other news channels, that is too close to home, but "social media" -- one of only three sources that is actually supplying the public with legit information about stuff the 'news' sources lie about. (Wikileaks, some alternative news sites most people have never heard of and that are internet-only, and social media -- much of which is totally wrong of course. But I'd never heard of standing rock outside forums and facebook for example.) Mirror imaging, they call that... And "how to bury any search inquiry people make, behind so many results from you and your buddies, they will likely never see the references pointing out that you're the ones guilty." RC
  8. Standing Rock

Why are we drilling and shipping oil for China? We have to pay to import oil from the other side of the planet sourced from whole continents of people who rabidly want us to die, and then we drill it here and instead of using it here, transport it far away then ship it China? WTH? RC

  10. What are you listening to?

That's a great song! You're right, it feels great! I dig Imagine Dragons the more I hear of them. I'll post my fave -- a cover of theirs actually -- but I'll wait 'cause I don't want a rock minor key song to compete with something way more positive. :-) RC
  11. Standing Rock

This is truly mind-boggling. What I don't get is where is the governor? Or the representative of that region? If actual legal authorities are being used where they have no jurisdiction, surely any decent attorney could file for injunction on those grounds alone? RC
  12. Hillary and Trump

Yes, but the offtopic and general discussion boards are, right? Which is where this is. Unless you're suggesting they make a private board, upon which they could inscribe, "For persons wishing to challenge themselves with a focus on things negative and dark, shocking and depressing, as part of exploring whether this actually assists in the path to enlightenment." I'm just hazarding a guess that it doesn't LOL. Still that hasn't kept me from totally getting sucked into politics this season! RC
  13. Lets Talk Obama - Was he a good President?

I expected to hear a lot more about Obama during his administration. Mind you I don't watch the news, but I do get some from drudge, slashdot, and various forums, depending on what I get around to reading. But in a way that means I get the meta-level of the news -- mostly "just the biggest stuff." I finally concluded, after he started appointing the most reptilian attorneys in the land to exalted Czar positions he invented just to give them power, that there must have been a focus on a lot of other things instead of him, because aside from Obamacare there just wasn't much to say that didn't sound like, "President Obama, in a stunning move even worse than what we hated George Bush for..." RC
  14. Hillary and Trump

Joe, I totally get it, ok. But understand that forums are affected by search engine results which will often penalize the crap out of a site for having this kind of content, and the engine or front filters that access it may often exclude it from results, and that's just for the terms present in text here, not counting the 'association' with links that may have far worse in their content. The owner of the forum has to protect the project as a whole. Some of that might be social in keeping the darkest stuff out of focus, but some might merely be keeping the stuff that screws up SEO results off the site. This often goes for drug stuff too. He didn't invent the internet -- we all know Al did, LOL -- but his project has to live within its conditions. A forum I've been in for a decade and just started looking at again a bit, has a thread on this issue (and another) both presented by a guy on video recently. You could register and talk about it there if you wish. The video that adds this topic to the list starts on page 2 somewhere. I'm Red Cairo there as well. http://www.abovetopsecret.com/forum/thread1144511/pg1 Best, RC
  15. I appreciate everybody has their own opinions on this, but I do too: I think if anything is to be classed as magic at all, certainly those two magickal orders should be. All energy one gives attention opens in their reality. It's more apparent in magick because people are paying attention and doing something on purpose, so they know how to correlate the reality and psychology results with their focus. But it happens to everyone; it's just that most people are oblivious. IMO so-called magic is not about what we do, because these things are fundamental to our relationship with ourselves/universe; rather it's about what we do "intentionally (and hopefully with some control)." Or as Crowley is so famously quoted as saying: "Why should you study and practice magick? Because you can't help doing it, and you had better do it well than badly." RC
  16. Hillary and Trump

Ah, and the perfect addition, Hillary herself -- HOW IS IT POSSIBLE the media has convinced everybody Trump is the anti-christ for talking about this stuff when both Hillary AND Bill -- and she is even specific to talking about wall/fence/tech no less -- have talked about this publicly??? RC
  17. What are you watching on Youtube?

I chanced on this by accident. It's a compilation of comments from Donald Trump about the country and the presidency or leadership dating back to 1980, and then clips from various years up to the end where it has his speech that ended with "I am running for US President" in 2015. There is nothing in here that makes me think of some kind of race-baiting woman-hating psycho. If you go to shock-jock radio show history or reality-TV and related interviews history you get the stuff the press has been freaking out about. But if you watch this -- and yes, ignore the soft music, that made me laugh -- what you really see is someone who's been saying the same messages -- trade wars are killing us, our veterans need help, we need a strong leader, I don't want to be that leader no but I really want someone to do it well finally -- and then THIRTY FIVE YEARS LATER after four presidents all managed to make it worse than it began, he finally ran himself. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OCabT_O0YSM RC
  18. What are you watching on Youtube?

Wow, that's a full length movie, tons of famous people, and really high quality video. Haven't seen it. Thanks! RC
  19. What are you watching on Youtube?

Conan O'Brien officially gives his concession speech for losing 2016 Sexiest Man of the Year (People Magazine) to Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson. Hilarious -- and a spoof on the recent election too of course.
  20. That sounds interesting! I once told my dad when I was about 18 -- after a lifetime of chronic deja-vu (to the point of precognition) -- that I thought that I had died and gone to hell, and like a biblical story, had been allowed to come back to earth perhaps to do better this time (in the biblical story, some guy was allowed to come back to influence his family) -- but I was apparently making the same bad decisions all over again. He said, "God, what a horrible thought!" I spent several years working on self-hypnosis, some specific to my attempt to resolve what I was pretty sure was a degree of sociopathy. I "broke through" when I was about 23-24 (I forget the exact date, around the border there), and it was after watching a movie called "Peggy Sue Got Married" which is now one of my favorite movies. (Kathleen Turner and Nicholas Cage.) In it, this middle aged woman, her kids have just gotten old enough to move on, her husband is estranged from her, and she goes to their high school reunion. She says, if only I knew then, what I know now! -- and she has a heart incident while on stage at the reunion and wakes up in her high school back in time. And she's totally aware of it, and tries to do things differently this time. For whatever reason (probably partly because at the time/age, I had such grief about my childhood and wondering about the 'outcome' and how things might be different if-only), I started crying at the end, and that was apparently the final straw after all those years. I cried maniacally and then laughed maniacally, back and forth, and slept in exhaustion, for about three days. A lot changed, and I was raw and vulnerable for a long time, but I was fixed -- the complete lack of emotion (accompanied by the most violent-bloody killer rage imaginable, 'controlled' by a seemingly passive exterior) was gone. I could feel again. My intelligence reduced by about 2/3 -- I was told intuitively it was unneeded and only present for extreme paranoia -- but that was fine, it just made me almost normal. The worst stuff was gone. So even though it was probably just the last straw of emotion, I credit the movie with being the last step in saving me. :-) The movie 'the Zero Effect' has a character that reminds me totally of me up until that point. Except I sure hope I'm a better songwriter LOL. Insane memory, ability for incredible 'passing' around people -- but a complete disaster when alone, and whose intelligence is greatly based on the ability to be truly objective (ability to have emotion truly suspended). That character got it like I did -- great trauma in teens, waking up and saying first thing, "Everything is different now." I'm convinced the guy who wrote and directed the movie met someone with this (or had it himself). I love movies. :-) RC
  21. Hillary and Trump

I made a transcript. - RC President Bill Clinton, STATE OF THE UNION Speech, US Capitol, 1995, televised by C-SPAN (excerpt) All Americans, not only in the states most heavily affected but in every place in this country are rightly disturbed by the large number of illegal aliens entering our country. The jobs they hold might otherwise be held by citizens or legal immigrants. The public services they use impose burdens on our taxpayers. That's why our administration has moved aggressively to secure our borders more, by hiring a record number of new border guards. By deporting twice as many criminal aliens as ever before. By cracking down on illegal hiring. By barring welfare benefits to illegal aliens. In the budget I present to you we will try to do more to speed the deportation of illegal aliens who are arrested for crimes. To better identify illegal aliens in the workplace, as recommended by the commission headed by former congresswoman Barbara Jordan.* We are a nation of immigrants. But we are also a nation of laws. It is wrong and ultimately self-defeating for a nation of immigrants to permit the kind of abuse of our immigration laws we have seen in recent years and We. Must. Do. More. to stop it. {standing ovation} Useful trivia: from Wiki: The Pew Hispanic Center estimates that, in the 1980s, the net advance of the U.S. undocumented immigrant population was at 130,000 per year, increasing to 450,000 per year from 1990 through 1994, further increasing to 750,000 per year from 1995 through 1999, and staying at 700,000–850,000+ per year since about 2000. That's ~15.4 MILLION between then and now. - RC So 21 years later the problem is massively, massively larger, both in overall incoming and in everything associated of course -- crime, costs, etc. -- and this was a big enough deal to be part of a state of the union speech back then. * Barbara Jordan: So what happened? A black democrat civil rights senator leads the official plan, the democratic president takes at least one or more of her committee's recommendations for the official presidential plan, and that's to deal with the problem PRIOR to 21 YEARS MORE of 750,000 per year from 1995 through 1999, and staying at 700,000–850,000+ per year since about 2000. But if all the efforts we've made so far still have these insane numbers, building a wall to assist border security is.... ... racist? nationalist? fascist? How about "sane?" How about "finally management is competent?" How about "waking up to the reality that what we've been doing isn't working at all?" I'm reminded of a saying: The best time to plant a tree was 20 years ago. The second-best time is now. -- Chinese proverb RC
  22. Hillary and Trump

Alright now, speaking of Clinton vs. Trump. Sort of. This entire speech sounds just like it's out of Trump's own stated mission -- It got big applause and a standing ovation in 1995 -- And it was delivered by Bill Clinton. https://www.facebook.com/Tbailey6/posts/10154656041372158 This is a brief video of the speech, but facebook and won't embed. Edited to add: transcript below. RC
  23. Oh come on that was a great post you shouldn't have edited it. :-) * When I was in my late 20s there was a guy online in a fringe forum I was part of, who insisted that he had a time machine. We made a lot of fun of him. But he was really intelligent, well written, and after months of understated discussion about it, he had at least half of us at least willing to hear him out. I was one of the few people he trusted and he sent me his plans in the mail. It involved a DeLorean, you see... So disappointing. RC
  24. I have a close friend who cleans house for me sometimes. Her house was literally like something out of a Stephen King book. Stuff so crazy it's impossible to believe, but having had some intensely anomalous events and timeframes in my own life, I recognize it as real (partly because it's so stupid, like it'd be less embarrassingly stupid if invented). Others witnessed this -- me, the girl next door. Like the phone would ring with nobody there, voices and other languages would be on it, or would come on it after someone they were talking to hung up. Emails would write themselves and they'd be... oh, not nice. The TV remote control constantly was vanishing and usually would turn up on the ceiling fan (too high for the two kids to reach). When the dad got mad and duct-taped it to the arm of the chair, his bottles of beer kept disappearing the instant he looked away, sitting there, and would be found predictably after awhile in the backyard upside down stuck in the dirt. Stuff would vanish and turn up in the fridge, freezer, oven. There was so much noise in voices and screams and more at night they had the TV on loudly and the lights 24/7 for years. They were poked and pinched while trying to sleep constantly, or suddenly shaken or pushed hard. All kinds of crazy crap happened, some of it downright dangerous. I finally convinced them that if they would keep their wallets on their body their money would stop disappearing, and I was right, but that doesn't mean their bodies were never affected. At my house, however, I insisted to my inner/outer reality that none of that would have any affect on me or my home or property. And it didn't, except one thing: silverware. Mother of God the silverware. It just vanished in ridiculous quantity. My friend could merely walk PAST a counter, and we could a minute later turn to get something we were cooking and any silverware on the counters was simply gone. When I was having experiences of that nature many years prior, stuff would constantly disappear, reappear, stuff I had never seen in my life would appear -- someone else's hairbrush (with their hair in it), my friend once got someone else's mop LOL -- I have no idea why or how this happens but I did finally learn if I assumed that "energy was trying to get my attention" and did prayer toward that and promised if they'd calm it down I would meditate later and communicate nicely, it would suddenly drop often to nothing. My friend is different, she spent a lot of time burning sage all over her house. :-) A few years ago I rewatched the old movie "Poltergeist" with someone on video, and there's this scene where all this stuff -- little stuff with metal involved -- just appears like from the ceiling and falls to the floor. And craig picks it up and he's like, "WHAT the HELL is THIS?!?!?!" -- and that scene made me laugh until I almost peed my pants. That's it, I bet! I imagine that some other poor sot is one day going to open a china cabinet or a toolbox or the cupboard where he stores toilet paper and like 42 cheaply made dining utensils are going to fall out on him. Probably some weird physics connection between my kitchen and where they are in sidereal time location or something. :-) I believe time travel energetically is fundamentally always so because we're connected to everything. Getting your body there is another story though. There are some fascinating anomalous accounts in history about people just appearing, confused as hell, and very clearly from another time or place or both. I was once told in a meditation, while working on something, that both space and time "weave themselves out of you" -- like I am the skein of yarn. And that lack of space and lack of time were the same energy and moving through one was the same as moving through the other. RC
  25. That's so charming! See, if I've imagined myself back in school with "if I knew then what I knew now," it was never to write impressive papers. It usually had something to do with that hot guy. :-) :-) RC
