  1. I know somebody that has a problem for giving to herself(love), she's critical and she needs to open her heart to herself. she isn't into Qigong or Chinese medicine, but I think a good and simple practice of Qigong for self giving and love, and opening the heart to yourself can help her, a couple of simple postures. Does anyone know any good practice for this?

    I know maybe it's too much, because for development you need to give from yourself, but for someone who isn't into eastern medicine, it can be alot. she's 60 years old.

    Love to you all :)

    ToL

    EDIT:

    After thinking about it, I think that for some people it can't help, because they don't see it as development, but need a quick solution for their sickness, just like a pill. If you give the best beautiful, simple cure for someone he will do it once, and it will open things that he doesn't want to deal with(part of the healing/development) then he will say it make him sick and then give up. Give him something complicated that will satisfy his mind, it will cure him, as long as he have WILL. (placebo?)

    Does she have any friends or/and pets , family ?

    I think you can help her more then any method or any other person - because you see very well her situation maybe even better then she can it's just up to you if you wanna assume the responsibility. The best part is that you both can gain from it.

    I don't think Qigong can help much there. But a religion (like Buddhism) definitely can help....

  2. Just came across this board, I would like to say hi. Im an ex-Taoshi in the Beijipai and Im interested in what some of you are talking about.

    If interested I am selling an altar. It will include an Antique Altar table, a Gods table and all the fixing to make it a traditional altar such as lamps and stuff (everything you see in the pic). In the picture the Gods will not be included due to their status of being opened, but I do have regular statues or I can get you any Deities that you choose. If interested email me at: [email protected]

  3. Hi All,

    Great site! It appears that the forums here are filled with knowledgeable friends united on a journey. I too have been on the path for many years now in differing forms. I'm not sure how much I will contribute, but perhaps it is meant for me to in fact do so... we shall see, no?

    Peace,

    Hi and welcome. Do you mind sharing the type of practice that you are committed to ?

    Thx.

  4. Hi all,

    this is the saddest of the news - but a great inspiration for us. If you haven't read it yet here's the link.

    http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20080829/ap_on_re_us/obit_warren

    Here's a woman with the strength and perseverence at age 65 to participate in really tough sports. Then a family that obviously loves her: Her husband and kids, and the special bond of a twin. Barbara sounds as if she lived life to the fullest, and then when a tragic accident paralyzed her body, she knew it was time to leave this life. What courage for her to communicate to her family that she wanted to die, and what courage for the family to understand and honor her wish - and let her go. Standing by her, laying by her side, letting her go.

    May God bless her Soul, and all of ours.

    V/R,

    Orb

  5. Excuse asking this here but I can't get my head around this:

    x = y-(0.38196601*(y-(0.61803399*y)))

    If we know the value for x (say x = 3) what is the formula to calculate y ????

    :D

    Thanks in advance.

    Ok stig here's what I have: from what I understand the issue here is that they are trying to confuse you with the notation making it all look crazy therefore we will substitute the scary numbers for the beginning with letter.

    so:

    I unnderstand that your * = multiplication

    and you have x = 3

    then we substitute:

    0.38196601 = a

    0.6180399 = b

    so we will have

    x = y - a(y-by)

    which becomes

    x = y - ay + aby

    x = y(-a+ab)

    now all you have to do is calculate what's in the parethesis

    which in you case

    0.38196601 = a

    0.6180399 = b

    so you get x = y(-0.38196601+0.6180399*0.38196601)

    and you get smth like x = y(-0.145895775376201)

    then you replace x with 3 like you said

    so 3 = y(-0.145895775376201)

    so

    y = 3 / -0.145895775376201

    y = 20.562624190209210767200795911796

    Since I'm in a rush I didn't verify any calculation but that should be the way to solve it.

    I hope it helps

  6. so i glanced through the book

    i could write forever on this but i don't think anyone cares so i'll be quiet

    peace

    Hey Mantis, of course people care - everybody is doing some form of fitness these days and it's good to know the different apporaches and to figure out the right way of doing things, especially when smb has a lot of experience like you - I'm sure you learned quite a few tricks in your practice. What surprised the most was the fact that he dismisses most of the classical forms of sit-ups - what do you think of that ?

    Also since the cranky admin secret service on this forum edited my link imediately - if anybody is still interested in "getting the e-book" don't hesitate to PM me and I'll give you the link.

  7. Hi all,

    for those of you who would like to try a good fitness program that builds your six pack and makes your body look like the spartans in the 300 movie read about it on the following website http://www.truthaboutabs.com/

    This guy claims that most of the diets are bs and most of the exercises intended for your abs are wrong and somehow he in his infinite wisdom sat down and figured out the right way of doing it.

    Anyway, he will sell you the e-book for 40 bucks but you don't get to see it until you pay for it which, I guess many people would be ok with, or you can figure out from my post how not to waste your money and still take a "good look" at the product before you agree into buying it - the same way any fair contract in this world would work.

    [admin edit]please don't post links to pirated resources on TTB.

  8. hi my names ryan im 19 and i live in ny and i have completely devoted my life to these goals with or without a master, i would love to have one buttttt im not rich :) cough cough

    i have 2 goals i want to achieve by practicing toaism nei kung etc.

    1. stop reincarnation ( i feel like ive lived one to many lives, if you know what i meen)

    2. better myself for the remainder of this lifetime

    so in a nutshell i am looking for a master, i have very little resources, and next to no experience.

    i might sound demanding but there is no way i am practicing under a master who cannot "prove" hes not sum frikin bs karate dude, yes i need you to chi slap me or somthing. i am rediculously hard working if i were to have a master and he told me i had to stand in horse stance indefinatly i have no problem with that im on a search for the real deal and will do anything to achieve these goals.

    as of yet i have been into this for about 2 weeks i know i know what your thinking, but i feel like ive been ready and training to leave this world since i remember, in all the wrong ways untill now ofcourse. i have read magus, nei kung by danaos, the book of nei kung by ck chu and a few other random qigong books. im having trouble training because all ive read evrywere is you need a master and whatnot. but ive been abdominal breathing 24/7 for atleast two weeks and meditating atleast an hour almost evryday along with trying stances from ck chu

    ive been looking around this site for about a week trying to pull out clues and whatnot and ive seen that theres alot of genuinly nice if not interesting people around here so i thought id through my birthday out incase any numerology or astrlogical people knew if it had any signifgance to my trainging in this lifetime. 7/31/89 8:07am

    thanks to anyone who reads or resposnds!

    ps i know i cant spell so dont bother telling me

    pss if i cannot find a master anyone willing to give me any info on how to achive these goals would be much apreciated. (no i wont tell anyone, ultimatly with or without training i plan on moving to the remote wilderness sooner than later)

    Hi and welcome. I suggest that you make some efforts and contact directly and specifically the people on the forum that you feel have something to offer you. Your post here is quite general - there are people from very many traditions and practices here and you can't follow them all plus people join everyday so in a few days nobody is going to remember your post anymore. So sit down and take it step by step establish short and precise goals and then go for them.

    Good luck.

  9. Orb, you really don't know what you are talking about. So remain silent.

    Listen "Mister into Secret Knowledge via google and tons of books from Amazon.com" I never said I know much about masons, nor do I really care. I happened to personally know at least 3 active members from 2 different countries and that's where I got the info - they actually wanted me to join them. I was looking into joining just so that I can get a better job 'cause I thought they use their connections to help each other out. But after hearing a little bit of their twisted theories which are awfully similar to whatever you tried to explain in your post, I developed an acute allergic reaction to all these geniuses and realised that all that bs is not going to help me at all.

    So you can show off as much as you want on forums with all your childish revelations about mass hypnosis and "commodity fetishism" --- whatever that means and leave me out of this.

    And to express better my position to you Mister Awakened One let me quote from my favorite most sacred books on the planet - I'm not going to divulge the name - it's only for the initiated ones.

    "...Cal Naughton, Jr.: I like to picture Jesus as a figure skater. He wears like a white outfit, and He does interpretive ice dances of my life's journey.

    Texas Ranger: Someone didn't love you enough when you were little, did they?

    Reese Bobby: That's a good call.

    Cal Naughton, Jr.: Shake and bake!

    Ricky Bobby: What does that do? Does that blow your mind? That just happened!

    Jean Girard: Is that a catchphrase or epilepsy?

    Jean Girard: Hakuna Matata, bitches!

    Ricky Bobby, Cal Naughton, Jr.: Shake and bake!..."

  10. if they actually contain any practices for spiritual development or if it's just a bunch of guys that get together for barbecues.

    I happened to know a few of them and you said it basically - "bunch of guys that get together for barbecues."

    that's all it's about. Their rituals reflect some old knowledge that lost its meaning pretty much. They say that their aim is to take "good people and turn them into better people" - not a bad aim. Another thing about them they are very opened to different races and religions - which is cool - I was surprised to see that. Also it's not that difficult to join them either. But usually you have to know smb from inside that would introduce you and after that they have their own internal hierarchy of some sort. You pay a fee which wasn't bad either. You wear some funny cloths occasionally for their ceremonies but most of the time it's black suits and ties kinda like "Men In Black" and they have all these international meetings where they talk about how are they doing in their aim to become better people. I would prefer their thing to most of the local church - but I don't consider a real esoteric knowledge what they have to offer.

  11. Hi, I was glad to find this forum of Taoists and practitioners of Tai Chi, Qi Gong, Taoist meditation, etc. I'm currently living near Wudang Mountain in Hubei Province, China, where I've been since June. I've been studying in the U.S. with a Taoist priest since 2002 having "converted" after 30 years of yoga...

    I love the practicality of Taoism as it combines with the mystical, both being essential to balancing our nature, and bringing both aspects into harmony, keeping us grounded even as we become more spooky.

    Wow dude, Wudang Mountain I thought it existed only in fairy-tales. So anyway are you like a monk or smth?

    Thx

  12. Hi,

    I've registered as guangping, which is a county in China where the style of tai chi that I've practiced is named after. Or Kuang Ping style, as taught by Kuo Lien Ying in San Francisco, and one of his primary students Bing Gong. I have also studied with Jerry Alan Johnson, and a bit with Bruce Kumar Frantzis. Also studied yiquan and qigong, though we used to call them warm-up exercises...

    I'm an old guy, 55, living in Colorado Springs, CO. Currently practice more meditation than tai chi. and fall asleep a lot during practice. Before I moved here, I gave all of the books I had collected over 20 years to the local acupuncture college in Santa Cruz, CA.

    I think that just about everyone who has practiced tai chi has had the fantasy of becoming a Daoist.

    Hi, and thx for the very honest and simple description of your experience as a Daoist. Question if you don't mind: Why are you still practicing ? Are you trying to achieve anything? I mean if you are 55 and you practiced for so many years - what is your aim now if you don't mind sharing?

    Thx,

    V/R Orb

  13. Hi all.

    I noticed a few questions here about Tao salt and Immortal Garlic. We'll I've been taking this stuff for about 2 months now and have noticed the affects. I'll do a post on them soon. If you want to try some secret alchemist substances visit www.plurbis.com/healing.html

    Please feel free to ask any questions.

    Tony

    Hi Tony, thank you for the good info and welcome.

    Orb.

  14. qijack is the reincarnation of truth but truth is still truth and qijack is still qijack! :unsure:

    So what are you implying here mister, that ultimately qijack is not truth ???

  15. Hello, everyone!

    I am a long-time student of taiji and qigong, and having experienced a little bit of qi and shen (and perhaps jing, though I'm not sure): I want to learn a lot more about all that! I don't really claim to know what qi is, and I don't know where it comes from -- my experience just tells me that it is. Maybe it is some sort of all-pervading cosmic soup, or maybe it's just a vital force that all objects have, or maybe it's even a specific biological phenomenon. Feel free to try to convince me any way you want on that one!

    From what I know of Taoist philosophy, I think the interplay of forces provides a good check on a lot of potentially dangerous perspectives. I don't really understand the religion of Taoism, if it has religious aspects, so if any of you want to enlighten me, I would welcome the pleasure.

    Although I found this site looking for traditional Chinese garb (men's hanfu, daofu, and cheongsam) for practice and demonstration, I'm absolutely certain that I will find a lot more than that. I am extremely grateful for having found this site.

    ~Anemos

    Eternal Student

    Thx for joining. I think this is the greatest taoist site in the world.

    Also out of curiosity - what kind of qigong are you studying?

  16. Hello

    Previously i was "Truth" but that name didnt really reflect the stuff that i post in these forums or vice versa, im not saying i lie or anything, Its just that name would suit someone that is a little bit more wise :P and maybe changing my name will stop wierdo's from sending me PM's about "what is the truth about life" and so on

    cheers:)

    So it sounds like you can't handle truth anymore :D

  17. Hi all,

    aaand it looks quite insane.

    I hope that's not really what they teach them in that school.

    Thank you.

    Thank you.

    Orb

  19. I can say for sure that I wouldn't coped as well as I did before starting meditating etc.

    The thing was that i wasn't the most concerned for my own behalf, but for my pet( a great cat named stosse) that would surely not understand what situation I was in.

    When I got money for food, for me and Stosse there were tears of joy from my side. The most stressful part for me was not able to provide for a life that pet "owner hood" requires

    //john

    Now we are talking! Real application of taoism in our daily life!

    I was getting really nauseated everytime I was browsing through the topics on this forum and reading about people having such issues as Distance Healings and Empowerements and Chackras and Kunluners Unable to keep their material presence for too long 'cause there are so freaking advanced and can have sex "wirelessly" over distance now and people trying to help with global warming issues. Are you kidding me ???- when obviously we can bearly take care of our own cat proplerly.....

    Cmmon guys. Get back on the ground.Stay with me

    Let's deal with our real issues.

    Great topic abramelin. THANK YOU.

  20. Could you please briefly summarize the logic here?

    Here's a quick little thing on what Mayo Clinic has to say about breakfast.

    Chinese medicine corroborates these findings. According to the body's qi circulation throughout the day:

    Yang qi spikes in the Stomach network from 7am to 9am and in the Spleen network from 9am to 11am. That means getting the food into your body between 7am and 9am so that the Spleen, in charge of digestion and distribution of nutrients, can circulate that nutrition to the body from 9am to 11am. Of course, these systems don't work like an on-off switch, they will do their job at any point throughout the day, but these are the optimal hours. The Heart network then fires up from 11am to 1pm, an ideal time for a quick meditation before a social lunch, and the Small Intestine follows from 1pm to 3pm. Meaning that again, best get food in by 1pm so the Small Intestine can digest from 1-3pm.

    Thank you for your post 松永道' , I think your explanation makes the most sense so far. Just like you I couldn't grasp the logic behind this warrior diet...

  21. Just wanted to add for those of us who are into science that a new study appeard on the effects of diets.

    The low carb seem to have come out the best. It was a 2 years study, very serious.

    Pietro

    P.S Drew, for as much doubt I have in your way of reching conclusions out of intuitions and partial informations, I have a lot of respect for the work you seem to be doing. Also in the primal diet you are not supposed to eat any salt.

    But are you sure you should eat 'canned' vegetables. I personally would only expect canned enlightenment from that stuff :lol:

    I have a question. Can smb clarify this for me pls 'cause I never understood why are people changing there diets. I understand the sick people have to change their food because some organs don't function properly anymore. But seriously if you are not sick why would anybody do all this research and changes in your daily food?

    Thank you.
