  1. In fact John Allegro (highly respected scholar who helped translate the dead sea scrolls) wrote a book called "The Sacred Mushroom and the Cross". In this book he asserts that "Jesus Christ" is just an allegorical code for the the fly agaric mushroom.

so let me make sure I get this right: so..... Jesus Christ was just a mushroom ?

  2. I haven't tried this on anyone else, but I've tried it on myself and I don't get the blisters appearing or even really any kind of red hand print unless it slap myself REALLY hard.

What's impressive about this video is that the slap is quite soft. In fact it's probably the softest slap I've ever seen.

Yes it's called the "bitch slap" and has been around in the taoists circles since Bodhidarma jumped the border and imigrated to China. Scotty, you shouldn't give up so easy - keep slaping yourself and I'm sure you'll get it.

  3. I havent a clue how real it is, but I don't think I've got the 279 to spare to risk it at the moment

Does anyone here speak Russian? maybe they could ask Mr. Bronnikov for a free DVD for evaluation purposes?

I dont know whether this will put some people off, but Hilary Clinton seems to have visited the place

    http://67.55.47.165/clips/eng/video1.wmv

This vid is in english by the way ;)

Keep your money you don't need to buy the DVD the method is very simple - it just requires a lot of dedication and effort though. And if you are not blind probably you won't have enough motivation anyway. The guy didn't invent this either. It's been around for a long time and with good results. It's just I've never seen it to this level where they can actually "see" the details like words in a book. A few years ago a PT teacher decided to do some experiments with some kids at the elementary school. They would learn how to orient themselves in a dark room full of different object where they couldn't see anything, but after a few weeks of training they could "feel" the objects that were layed around the room... Well it looks like they can do a lot more now ....

Russians have quite a few different methods like that for developing parapsychological abilies with great results and aplicability they take this things very seriously and some of them are used in the military that's why the extended research.

  4. Yeah this stuff is pretty laughable, he doesn't even try to look convincing, you can see that the "blind folded" guy who's copying an image drawn on the white board has to look up at the image each time to copy it, even though apparently he cant see it. I dont see how the ability to see through a blind fold would have any spiritual relation, or any benefit of any consequence at all anyway. But at a mere €279 per dvd, who could afford to miss out? :D

Your ignorance is actually more than laughable. The first guy in the video is blind and has been blind his entire life - look at his eyes in the video, - he learned to see now - I don't know if you are able to understand the difference it made in his life.

They have an entire institute that is behind this phenomen studying it already for a few years. Also they are discussing a few different aspects, not just seeing with your eyes closed.

They are talking about a different kind of waves and they have a physicist that completely doubted the whole thing from the beginning - he said he wouldn't believe anything in this life until he sees it and tests it. Now he says that he cannot doubt that it's not a trick and that it is a different kind of wave that is not of a magnetic nature or accustic but something else. Somehow the brain is actually able to tune into it after their training. They are saying that while the open eyes receive the stimulus and is getting transmitted to the back side of the brain. When they are wearing the masks the front part of the brain gets stimulated.

The kids are the fastest to learn and a girl can actually read entire texts like that.

Also they are not trying to make it popular but they are studying it and a few scientists who realised it's potential are actually scared of it's possibilities....

This stuff is so cool I don't even care if you guys believe it or not lol

  5. What kind of Abilities are you looking for? I am assuming it is not the ability to walk or paint, or the most amazing one we all share and that is manifesting our body in every moment. :) We all are special thats what makes being special not special

By abilities I mean smth extraordinary that can be developed through Qigong. The fact that Michael Winn has a wonderfull personality is indeed a good thing - it's just I wouldn't go to see qigong master for that - these are attributes that I expect from people like Mother Theresa and such. I am just very curious about real abilities like Vajrasatva mentioned - he said that one master that he heard of can fry eggs on his head - now that would be smth .....

And that's all I am curious about - it's kinda annoying when I ask a question about abilities and the replies are about how to be compasionate and the true meaning of life and how a certain teacher is very kind to his students bla bla bla. It's apples and oranges to me... I just wanna get zapped by smb's chi or smth

also I am not convinced at all that "being special" like you said is necessarily a good thing - sounds to me more like that "no child left behind " crap that Dubya is selling

  6. This is part of an email he sent me...

"I sent a psychic email to my old teacher, John. He emailed me that day. It had been a year since we last had contact. He is a master without peer. He has accepted me as a student again. I'm the only one now. And I have a very active group of guides in the spirit world. I don't have much trouble sensing them now. When in San Diego, it started to get strong. As I walked the beach and talked with my wife or son about the metaphysical stuff I'm doing, someone kept adding in comments. It was a guide named Charles. He would just talk with me as if he were physically walking with us down the beach. The vail is rather thin now. That happens a lot lately.

John and I have been working on new ground. The twelfth chakra, which is above your head at the level where you can barely reach if you stretch your arm up as high as you can, has been one of our focuses. John teaches that there is a golden ring up there. I've been visualizing this ring for a couple of years (since the summer of 2006). That's what the wizard hat was about. I started to see a star up there more often. John decided to take my star more seriously and found it to be the female side of the twelfth chakra and that his ring was the male portion. "So," he told me excitedly, "you can spin the ring until it becomes a golden sphere then place the star inside of it. This will balance the male and female energies, merge the right and left brains." (his words paraphrased) I did that and had a vision that transformed my psyche. Quote my journal---

Here I go. I'll move through the Ring . . . . I see lights, like I am in the middle of one of those cosmic clouds, I am witnessing creation in the process of becoming. The Ring has grown like it is the rim of a volcano and I am hovering above the rim.

I'll do it again . . . When I pass through the Ring, there is a pressure difference, like I'm changing atmospheres, or moving into no atmosphere. The Ring, the rim that surrounds me, is bright gold and giving off a steam or vapor. Directly above me is a white sphere, white beyond anything earthy. I move into this sphere. The pressure on my body is stronger. The rim that is the Golden Ring kind of moves up and surrounds me. It is spinning and has become a Golden Sphere. I'm in the Star looking out at the Golden Sphere from the inside. Light from the Golden Sphere is merging with the Star. The Star is expanding and filling the Golden Sphere. Rays of light from the Star are breaking through the Golden Sphere and absorbing it. The Star and the Ring are now completely merged and I am inside of a brilliant gold-white star.

That was just the beginning. A few days later, I looked up and saw that I had a cone of light above my head between the twelfth chakra and my crown. Then---

As I looked at the Golden Sphere-Star combo, sitting at the top of a cone of light, golden-white energy came from it (or through it) and cascaded onto me by way of the cone of light. It came down in liquid streams. A feeling filled me like an electric current somehow made heavy, like a liquid fire or a light made of molten gold.

I've been playing with other places floating outside of my body. You're welcome to read my journal on line---"

hey dragon - what kind of practice are you following if you don't mind sharing ?

    Thx,

    V/R, Orb

  7. I took a Basics class with him and talked to him the week I took Fusion. Great guy, very knowledgeable and open. After many years I'll still do the chi gung sequence from his basics video and the Pan Gu routine.

I never saw any special powers :), but I saw him doing chi gung and was greatly impressed by the emotional power displayed within it. He didn't have the grace of a Tai Chi master, but his movements were expressive, powerful and deep. I later learned it was a tribute to Ron Diana's death.

He may not be the ultimate, but there's a lot you learnfrom him. He's friendly, accessible, widely studied and Western.

    Michael

    I think I like Li Jiong better ... :D

  8. I have worked with Michael Winn a lot and he is great. He is very articulate, fascinating and funny and has deep and wide knowledge, and he has integrity and no issues to run on his students or the world. He is a pleasure to work with, a warm and real human being of experience. He is long time very happily married too. He has a lot to offer and he offers it with warmth and an open sharing.

    sounds a lot like Santa

  9. I kinda thought that same thing years ago, but I have found Michael to be an amazing ocean of wisdom. I think you will find different teachers have there strengths, Michael's strength I feel is in the realm of exploring inner alchemy and how to talk about it in a grounded simple way.

I take classes with him any time I can.

good place to start is a seminar but if you can not make it to one try his free inner smile e-book on his website. He has a free inner smile class coming next month in Asheville, nc.

Hey dog, has Michael Winn ever displayed any abilities besides the smile?

    Thank you.

  10. Thanks Scotty, I am glad we were able to communicate clearly on this issue.

As to "Where?" ... well I guess there is a whole world to choose from isn't there ;)

I'm am sure most people would like to see such an establishment closest to where they live. Do you think we should actually start polling such questions?

Hey Stig, I am convinced that it can work and be very usefull to everybody. A lot of people on this forum are very active in a lot of topics and contribute with facts and answers to a lot of questions after years of membership and that proves their devotion to these practices and ideas. So I don't really understand why some people oppose your idea when to me it looks like just another dimension of this forum's community of something that we already have here only in a different form.

  11. Actually I guess seeing that the majority of members here are probably in the US then thats where any proposed convention should occur.

If such convention was held over say 3 days what would you like to see happen?

Why not making it in more then one place. Let's say first start in US and let the americans host it then a sequel in Australia and people in Australia arrange for everything and so on ... kinda like the olimpic games ....

  12. As promised, here the first draft of some basic information on the Yin Xian Fa and Ling Bao Bi Fa found in Longmen Pai cultivation. Many thanks to Shen Zhigang (Shen Laoshi), for his scholarship and modern interpretation of Zhong Lu Chuan Dao Ji 《钟吕传道集》 and Ling Bao Bi Fa 《灵宝毕法》. His clear words continue to lend great insight to my studies of classical Dao cultivation. Thanks to Wang Liping for his responsibility to line of cultivation alive. And of course, profound thanks to my own teacher for getting me established in these methods.

Hi, I don't really know what all this means.... Is this Wang Liping and or Jiang's teaching theory ? Who wrote this thing and when could you please clarify ?

    Thank you.

  13. One of my students also did Kateda in indonesia said he saw one master fry and egg on his head in a pan from body heat and saw anther master do pull ups on fluorescent long light bulbs with out them break.

    LOL, that's awesome........

  14. I began learning taijchuan about four years ago in order to deal with chronic lower back pain. I did not know what I was getting into when I started; it just seemed to me that it might be a good thing to do. Since then I have fully embraced learning this art. In the course of learning taijichuan I started reading about Taoism. And now my curiosity has opened up to Taoist health practices and Traditional Chinese Medicine.

My dilemma is trying to find a credible, qualified teacher to bring me into basic Taoist practices. From my reading I think that maybe spending my life working my way through the 16 Element Neigung system would be part of my development. So, how do I find the right teacher? Living in rural North Idaho makes me geographically challenged. This means I will probably need to do workshops with a lot of solo practice in between. (Since I can only go to taijichuan classes twice a week, solo practice makes an especially large part of my learning that art.)

Regarding the healing arts, my approach, if it makes sense, would be to learn them in a binary fashion. That is to say, in learning to make myself healthy I can learn to help others and in learning to heal others I can learn to help myself. So how do I find the right teachers and establish for myself a "curriculum" to follow?

There is a huge amount of stuff about all of this on the internet, and it is overwhelming. I can't figure out where to start let alone figure out what is real and what is bullshit.

I'm a forty-something. Life is short and my ignorance is vast. So any useful advice that anybody has to offer would be most welcome. Or if somebody could direct me to a source of guidance that would be welcome, too.

    Thank you.

    -Mark-

Hey Mark if you look up there are a lot of people on this forum that actually teach a lot of good stuff. So you could arange smth with one of them that fits your orientation. I would suggest you PM them individually and then you could go and visit for a few day and learn smth that will keep you busy for a year and then go back get tested etc.

    Take care

  15. just a little food for thought, not that i expect any converts after posting this.

The clairvoyant may see forms which are elsewhere, but he cannot see the formless. The telepathic may communicate directly with the mind of another, but he cannot communicate with one who has achieved no-mind. The telekinetic may move an object without touching it, but he cannot move the intangible. Such abilities have meaning only in the realm of duality. Therefore, they are meaningless. Within the Great Oneness, though there is no such thing as clairvoyance, telepathy, or telekinesis, all things are seen, all things understood, all things forever in their proper places.

    --Hua Hu Ching

....So clearly two opposite branches are forming like the republicans and the democrats of the Dao. One branch chasing abilities - and the second branch chasing awakening!

And both sides are firmly convinced that the other party is wrong.

    Any independents ?

  16. Hello. My name is Brian and I reside in Kentucky, USA. I have been a member of Tao Bums for several months and have not yet posted here an introduction. I am interested in Zen and Taoism, and have studied Taoist thought for around a decade. I am not seeking anything, nor do I have anything to teach or share. I am; nothing, no one, no body. This thing, percieving itself, is posting to read more about personal practices, perhaps there to find something to advance its own personal practices, or if not, to pass some time in the infinite now reading about others personal practices.

    Blessings!

    Brian

    Hey Brian are you high?

  17. I hope we finish this topic/website once and for all and it will not come up for at least a year.... :)

Read their disclaimer on money back... it's too funny.

I was thinking that maybe we should have a section on the forum for " the taobums consumer reports" only were all these bogus products as well as practices (or masters) would be listed in one organized place so that people don't waste their time and money with fake, useless pseudo-spiritual phenomena...

  18. Try this:

Get rid of all mirrors in your home and avoid looking at any reflective surfaces for at least 10 years of your life. After that period go grab a mirror and take a careful look at what you are seeing. Of course it would be the "you" you always identified with but in this case would be older and somehow different.

This experiment will prove two things:

    1. Anicca, or impermanence. All samsaric phenomena is subjected to change.

    2. Anatta, no self.

The self we always have identified with is a social product.

I am willing to start this experiment right away but it would be hard once I leave home. As it is hard to avoid reflective surfaces.

Anyone interested in joining this experiment.

    Namo Amitabha.

    Edit: deleted topic description.

I'll do it, but wouldn't it be more realistic to start with 1 month ?

And another rule that should be applied jointly would be smth like: you can't talk about your experience but very rare (maybe once a year) and only with the people that are part of the experiment because your ego would get even worse if you always talked about it.

The ego is fed on the attention that you are getting from telling everybody about your experience.

  19. Hi

I am a newbie to the forum.

I have been studying Taoism for twenty five years and I teach Tai chi, Chi Gung, Kung Fu and Traditional Chinese medicine including eight principles and five elements methods.

I am particularly interested in Taoist Alchemy, Tao Yin and Chi Gung and I have contributed to some articles on Wikipedia.

My current area of interest is the Taoist stone carving in the White Clouds Temple in Beijing and the various translations referring to it regarding the 'microcosmic orbit' energy circulation and meditation method for example 'Secret of the Golden Flower', Doctrine of the Elixir and The Hundred Questions.

Hi chuangzu, welcome to the forum and thank you for joining us. Your experience in the area is very impressive.

I was wondering if you have met any skilled Chi Gung masters in your life and if you could describe their skills if it's not a secret.

    Thank you

    V/R,

    Orb
