  1. You are right. This is how Dong Haichuan and Liang Zhenpu and others used to deal with in combat situations in China; or even take a look at Ben Quan (crushing fist) used in Xingyi, which is performed either as a grasp and strike or as a pair of strikes with the fist. If done properly you finish your opponent in one blow and in a second or two.

I have no idea how they fight in China but I guarantee you that in US none of these techniques would work on the streets. And for some reason people around here assume that all your attackers are going to be slow, weak, stupid and out of balance. Unless you are learning self-defense against zombies - all these taichi applications are useless and the people that teach them are clueless.

  2.

    Thoughts on anything?

I'll post again later after I meditate/practice circulating at my usual time. I feel like I should at least try and see what it feels like.

    Here some thoughts:

    Stop masturbating now.

Masturbation has nothing to do with meditation or any chi work.

In fact the more you masturbate the more you distance yourself from a true spiritual path.

Mantak Chia is a total moron and all his sexual kung-fu is garbage. He teaches you smth that he never attained and he didn't attain simply because it's not real. But it sells because it's a convenient approach for weak people. Things don't work that way. The theory is wrong. Sorry.

Masturbation reflects the big mess that's in your head - so the most dangerous part is the actual mental masturbation that occurs constantly inside you.

Think about this and understand it - get rid of your sexual imagination and your life will be much better. Continue to play with your penis like a crazy monkey and you'll get nowhere at best.

    Peace, I'm out

  3. Hey all

Recently I have been very interested in mantric science, however I have a few questions I am hoping some of you here can adress.

First what I have come to see is that when people speak of mantras they are usually reffering to 1 of 2 things. Firstly there are what I dubb the "magic" mantras or the mantras that were constructed carefully by highly accomplished masters to produce certain effects involving specific entities, forces, and reality control that extend outside the practitioners physical body. Theses mantras also usually involve stimulating or directing energies within the body as well. The second type of mantra is simply a sound aka "sound mantra" that only has the effect of stimulating energetic processes inside one's body.

An example of a "magic" mantra would be om mani peme hung, and a sound mantra would be something like the 6 healing sounds.

I personally have a lot of concerns about the authenticity of many of the magic mantras because for example in vajrayana buddhism many of them started out in sanskrit and were translated into tibetan or other launguages. I just dont understand how if they were translated they could retain their authenticity because originally they were designed very specifically syllable by syllable. I have even heard of some tibetan buddhism teachers talking about translating mantras into english.......yikes!!!

    any thoughts

    Great topic.

Mantra are great if you have received it from somebody that really "knows it".

Although there are different kinds of mantras most of them are like a formula that carry out a certain type of information and is capable of creating a certain type of effect in your body. For example you can spend a lot of time educating yourself about energetic channels in your body and the way to control them or you can just get a certain mantra from a good teacher which would help you achieve the same effect but a lot faster (however you will be quite ignorant on how and why does the mantra work).

A lot of mantras are to be practiced with a certain position as well as a certain breathing exercise, mental representation and/or a particular mudra.

A correct mantra will generate a very strong vibration of a certain kind in one part of your body or in the whole body but it takes a lot to learn it. One teacher that I know of will sit with you for 3-5 days for about 4-5 hours per day "singing" this mantra with you until you are tuned to that particular sound and he can tell for sure that you got it and can use it. It's like a singer that has to practice a lot before he/she is capable of reproducing somebody else's song.

Most of the time though, the right kind of transmission has been neglected or forgotten over time and all that is left is an empty word that has no effect and nobody knows how to use it. It's still being transmitted from generation to generation by different practices but it's totally useless now

it's like a plastic flower that looks exactly like a real one but is very different at the same time and the followers keep using it for their rituals and they wil never know what that flower is supposed to smell like.

For example the healing sounds - there are a lot of teachers out there that think they know the healing sounds - but they just don't have it because they forgot a few little details.

And you can't just "guess" this sound either if you've never heard the original one.

  4. Thank you all for your answers they have helped some. I kind of feel like i am beeting a dead horse but i have one more final question on this topic.

Is there anything we can do to help the animals acheve liberation?

I have a great method that helped a lot of souls so far -

I eat lots of steak and in this way I liberate the poor souls trapped in the cow's body and give it a chance to reincarnate into something better!

(goes well with a good mushroom-onion topping, by the way...)

  5.

if Adyashanti thinkts meditation isn't necessary, ask him if he would've gotten that same realization without meditating?

meditating is very important, for everyone. how else will we overcome attachment to senses and thoughts? what is non-meditation? what is meditation? you have to define terms. usually when teachers say you don't have to meditate are actually redefining meditation to be something else.

I am pretty sure I already covered everything that you have asked. I was addressing exactly your kind of approach.

In my understanding you got into this internal infinite loop - master such and such said this and that and it took "him" so long ..... and then he understood this and that ..... so you are stuck in all these theories and there's no way out of it. You will never be able to get to the end. You have to separate from all that - don't try to stop it just separate from it. Let it go. Don't be afraid. That's why I said what I said about the big burning pile and you even made it bigger ...Take Yundon Dorje Bal and Krishnamurty and tell them to go home and leave you alone.

You already seem to know way too much for your own good and you are not using any of it.

You are caring all that load on your back for so long that you forgot even why you have it.

Also, I never said that Adyashanti thinks meditation isn't necessary he just said that it's not for everybody - who knows - maybe it is for you or maybe it's not - but guess what - you are the only one in this world that would know that !

At the same time I might not make too much sense to you (although I tried) but I guarantee that if you go to one of Adyashanti's seminars he will answer all your questions in a much better way - he is very opened-minded and also very clever and he will show you the state that you need, but only if you let him.

    Good luck.

  6. What do these nondual teachers say on meditation? I know Eckhart Tolle doesn't say it is necessary, I believe Nisargadatta also does not believe it is necessary. Adyashanti says that studying your thoughts until you see that the root belief of it is not true is needed, but not absolutely. Maharshi preached self-inquiry...

    Please share what you know.

Adyashanti - my favorite teacher - by far, says that he meditated for a couple of decades until he understood what he needed to understand but also he will be the first one to tell you that meditation is not for everybody. After all that time wasted on meditation he became aware of smth that was already there from the beginning and he will tell you that you already have everything you need and you don't have to go anywhere or see anyone.

When you go to see him he will answer all your questions in such a way that you might even ask yourself the question "why the hell am I here, I don't even have any real questions...".

It's been said for a long time 1000 monks = 1000 religions - to each his own path.

Some might require 20 years, others a life time - while everything can be accomplished in 1 sec right here and right now, be present of yourself of your body/feelings and thoughts, observe everything and observe the observer at the same time.

One frequent problem is that people expect this to be far more complicated then it is, we get addicted to "searching" for teachers and methods and theories..., we get obsessed with "trying to understand things" when everything is very simple and straight forward, all you have to do is "do it" always and everywhere, but don't do anything sofisticated and complicated, just be aware. We have all kind of stories and theories of what things should be like and what they shouldn't be like.

Just let go of everything in your head - don't try stoping it, just don't identify with it......

and take all your favorite theories and beliefs and all the books in the world and all the teachers (even Adyashanti and Buddha and Jessus and all the taobums with all their posts on this forums ) and put them together in a big pile and set it on fire and just let it burn completely and let the wind scatter all the ashes and ...that's it... you just observe your own breathing

  7. I like to start with expensive singles and progress to the cheaper blends because by the time you get to them you won't remember what they taste like

    This place is fun http://www.singlemalt.com.au/index.html

I have noticed that too, also forgot to mention that it works faster then any killer workout that you can find on the market because it's instantaneous!

It happened on several occasions - I have visited a few popular places in my town but a lot of the females appeared to be older and rather hefty looking, well to my big surprise, literally after only a few shots of my magic/ taoist potion and all those homely ladies around me transformed into super models and I mean all of them!

In the morning, however ....well, different story...

  8. I have started with the Johnnie Walker method and after trying different qigong/taichi methods went back to Mr. Walker - which I strongly recommend to all the taobums.

Start with the red one and work your way up slowly.

It is extremely efficient and very recommended if you have - stress, insomnia, anxiety, depression, chronic feeling of Idon'tgiveafuckness or lifeisfullofidiotsandthere'snothingwecandoaboutitness....

By the time you reach the blue level you would have understood all the misteries of this world and attained the highest degree of consciousness.

People might tell you that it can get a little bit pricey - but I guarantee you it's nothing compare to all these qigong/taichi experts around here (i.e. Davide Verdessi)....

and you don't even need teachers(although it does help).....

  9. I agree with Sloppy, Boxing is by far a more internal striking art to most Traditional Kung Fu systems because Boxers train there hands in all areas, speed, timming, bags, plus they have better cardio and during a fight in the ring they can breath properly and not use all force to last 12 rounds. That is proper internal breathing, proper power releasing and saving energy/chi. They are well conditioned more then most External and Internal martial artist.

Form work and stnding still isnt all internal is about! You need to understand extreme force and how far your body can be pushed to learn about true softness and stillness. Most internal martial artist cant last 2-3 rounds in a boxing ring i guarentee. This is not an attack on our loved arts but its reality, be it in a ring or street fight, they can still last as long as rounds on the street and in the ring.

    My 2cents

    Ape

very well said, my friend :)

  10. Interesting. I hadn't heard of that study. Thanks for sharing.

    Be well!

Hey this rapamycin thing - that's the same substance from this other article about the primates!

    http://www.boston.com/news/local/massachus...ope_for_humans/

So they found a bacteria in the soil gave it to the mice and then to the primates and it worked!!!

So now they have to include it in our drinks with 0 calories, 0 fats and 0 sugar and then we r all set.

Yay! We r saved !!! We r gonna live foreva!!!

I am going outside right now to get a piece of dirt for dinner !!!

  11. The 6 healing sounds are like mantras - they represent a certain vibration. Only a master of the mantra can transmit that sound in order for it to be efficient. The practitioner spends days at a time tuning into the master's way of making the sound. Also there is a certain mental representation that goes along with the sound and some other details. If you don't follow the whole recipe - the result is very close to zero. You cannot learn the 6 healing sounds properly just like you cannot learn a mantra from a book - because it's a sound !!!

  12. Since we're told to answer honestly, I must say that I have aquired absolutely no powers.

In general, I've become a more moody person, and less focused on being good.

I still struggle with my moral sentiments, yet these days, there's less discomfort with being just as miserable as I am.

Physically, I'm deteriorating, I see wrinkles coming along, and I've gotten abit flabby.

My practice is quite uninspiring, and I keep wondering if I'm doing it wrong. But I've grown so familiar with much of what I'm doing that I don't care so much. Mostly it's just nice to have some alone time.

At times I feel special because I know of all this stuff, and swing a sword in the park, but end up realizing how silly it is to think that I know more about life than the average Joe. Most people have excellent coping mechanisms to deal with reality, yet through practice this stuff stops working, and things get all turned on its head.

Finally, I'm more impressed with the apps on my iPhone than someone showing their ESP skills. The gadget is atleast good for something.

    h

Wow that's smth new for this forum. You actually dared to use your own judgement and see things the way they are. Congratulations! That's a first one. That should be the step one for any practice to learn how to see the simple raw truth. You'll be surprised but it's a very difficult thing to do.

Once again good job! You actually have learned and understood smth.

  13. Here's a link to the video of the monk doing the one finger stand and going through some of the training. I really like the second standing posture.

Really fascinating stuff, thank you very much for posting this.

Also could anybody translate what is the guy saying, please.

Also very cool around 4:37 you can see a cellphone on the monks desk !

    Now that's progressive !

  14.

If I might, ask yourself.....Why?...what's the deeper reason to desire special powers or even to know if these "really" exist? .....how long has this desire been with you?

Since you are answering questions with questions I can answer with one question to you: Why not?

Do you have anything more interesting then that ? Let me know 'cause I'm curious.

I don't care about deep reasons for desires and I don't believe you looked in the right place either, there are people that died searching and there are people that found within months miraculous things...

  15. Ok so How many of you have gained special skills from your spiritual practice??

And most importantly can you prove it?

    How?

And if not, why not? (could it be you re delusional?)

And for simpler effects like of greater health and vitality, what makes you think its really the spiritual at work and not just a more positive outlook and healthier lifestyle???

Be honest with me and yourself! :P

I think u r in the wrong forum buddy.

    If u wanna c powers u gotta look for Mr. Verdessi !!! - that's a different forum http://foundation73.proboards.com/

Supposedely he has a whole bunch of achievements including skills involving his genitals (u never know u might like it....)

On our forum the highest we have achieved so far would be smth like this: One person stands without moving, with his forearm extended, while the initiated person concentrates hard and brings the entire power of the Universe into his palm and then ***WACK!!!*** slaps the victim's forearm and voila! all of a sudden a gorgeous red spot appears out of nowhere on the victim's previously white arm (I don't know what happens if the victim is a non caucasian race though...)

Now the above info si for reference only don't ever try to use it anywhere without permission 'cause smb might come looking for u ...

  16. Wow!! That was a long post, thankyou for the understanding where im coming from Im really interested in seeing how this Burning Palm System of mine holds up in the future I know it has the goods, 18 seated and standing meditations, healing & fighting, conditioning the hands and body, developing a special Ging (force) related to this art.

Totally a complete internal system using both Hard and Soft methods to attain the Burning Palm Skills!

    Thanks

    Ape

It's not complete until you learn how to hunt down and spank all the disrespectfull students until 4 AM !!!

Personally after reading the SST's previous post I think I changed my mind about becomming a ninja and instead will switch to basket weaving asap!

  17. Hi Ape, I feel the same way as yourself about abusing my abilities. For those of us truly using internal metaphysical energy we can't play or use this because it is *FUN*! That is what some of the other physical martial artist don't understand while (Ape :) & his students understand, SSTT :) Instructors & students understand) So what ends up happening is that physical martial artists harass us and call us fakes until they come to our classes. Ape is in Australia while I'm on the opposite side of the world in California, but it doesn't make any difference whether you visit Ape or myself because when these techniques are used indiscriminately you don't have to believe.. You will get *HURT*.

portcraig and growant both came to visit and are SSTT members through this Taobums forum. growant kept asking to get hit with 'internal metaphysical energy'; however, he was never hit with much strength. During the next 2 weeks his arms became paralyzed with pain while barely able to sleep. I went to Chinatown after 2 weeks to get the herbs to heal him and within a week the pain was gone. For this reason I have stopped demonstrating on visitors and new students. So let's leave SSTT out as to why I stop demonstrating on people in California.

Let's say you visit Ape in Australia and you keep pushing him to demonstrate on you the real "Martial Arts" power of the Burning Palm System :o . You'll get burn marks on arms, then your arms will start to paralyze. (you don't want to be hit on the body) It will be painful to impossible to raise your arms if Ape really decides to let the Burning Palm to sink in.. the pain persist and may last for weeks. My same experience as growant went through a painful experience for 2 weeks taking other metaphysical hits, it's not very kind :( especially if you are trying to retain students.

The healing effects are great! When 2 Kunlun certified instructors had visited us, SSTT had already changed policy in where only our healing energy is shown. As a result, we are in the process of planning a joint Kunlun-SSTT seminar the 2nd week of July in San Francisco.

In other words when you visit Ape, be nice! as you've already read all the SSTT warnings labels, which offended one person; however, rules probably apply when you visit Ape in Australia -Be Respectful! I already know what the metaphysical Burning Palm feels like so I don't need to get hit with the Burning Palm in Australia, Los Angeles or anywhere else where someone knows what they are doing... already been there, done that.

Do you really want to know the answer to that question? I'll give you a 'real life' example of what happens if someone tries to teach SSTT without permission. I had an SSTT student, who was unauthorized to teach the raw form of SSTT. He put it own his website to get students while teaching without first getting permission, trying to get permission after he had a group of students... By then it was too late, my sifu found out about this student trying to teach without prior permission to teach. My student was NOT authorized to teach SSTT and tried mixing it with other styles. My sifu came out to visit one of the classes then started to beat this student(instructor) without stopping for EVERYONE to see --in front of all the other students for teaching without permission and authorization. When this student's "friend" stood up, my sifu saw this as an insult and asked this other person if he wanted a part of the action. Even though my sifu is 6'2" and weigh about 140lbs, this other "friend" of the student towered over my sifu. Even with all this "friend's" martial arts abilities, this "friend" just left the dojo ASAP.

"Easy Lesson" --If the sifu doesn't want you to teach the art, you don't teach the art without permission! Even today this student is so afraid and intimidated by my sifu, this student will run before allowing himself to be in the same room. Part of our present agreement is that this student *NEVER* wants to be in the same room or vicinity and ended up leaving the state.. I know it sounds crazy? but this is what happens when a person is unauthorized to teach a certain style and technique. This is "Old School" martial arts! You take a few years of practice then try and start up your own SSTT school professing to be an *EXPERT*, my sifu will hunt you down if you are not authorized to teach the style! No MMA/UFC/BJJ/boxing champions can/will stop my sifu because he will terrorize and beat anyone and everyone with no mercy, no rules, no gloves or pads if they are unauthorized to teach *HIS* style. So he take this very personally!

My sifu then made the other students stay up until 3a-4a in the morning shouting and yelling at them in a local restaurant regarding respect and courtesy pertaining to "Traditional Martial Arts". This story is known in SSTT as some of the existing students and instructors were present when this happened.

To make a long story short, I can teach SSTT as a 'Sifu'; however, none of the other SSTT Instructors are allowed nor authorized to teach SSTT independently without my permission because they will be hunted down, found and beaten. I know it sound idiotic in the 21st Century, but these old masters are still alive and they are very strict about how, who, what, where, when *THEIR* art is transmitted.

So *IF* Spirit Ape says, "Never before taught, seen, allowed before, etc, etc." --There is a reason I can personally vouch for that exist with SSTT; however, I'm sure many on TaoBums cannot relate to this mentality. There may be some unethical people will say *ANYTHING* to get quick money, but the SSTT Instructors are already very aware what happens when someone teaches SSTT without being specifically authorized -some of SSTT instructors and students have seen this before and it will happen again if anyone goes "rogue" at SSTT.

One of the main reasons I'm backing Spirit Ape is because I know what I have been through to teach SSTT. Spirit Ape has been humble in how he presents his teachings, he may question someone if they seem to be completely fraudulent. He is prepared to take some of the insults for what he has been given permission to teach. I have personally had to endure a lot of personal insults, ridicules, threats, fights where even my students stayed locked in the safety of the car when I went to face off with 5 other men alone who were threatening my students. I had even told my students to get out of the car as the fight would only be a few seconds, but my students were so afraid that they didn't come out until the fight was over(in a few seconds). Then they started shaking hands with the 5 other men when the fight was over. How is that for loyalty? So it's difficult to even find loyal, trustworthy students just as it is difficult to find a loyal, trustworth instructor.

The reason why I am making this very public because there will be some of you living in the U.S. who are potential SSTT students, you will meet some of the students who stayed locked up in the safety of a car rather then see or back their sifu when he was outnumbered. You will eventually meet my sifu who chases down rogue students and went ballistic on some of the present SSTT students and instructors who hid in the safety of a locked car. You'll understand the true meaning of 'Traditional Respect' because when someone is truly sincere, he/she will not teach an art/style/technique until given permission no matter how much or how little the knowledge. It is a matter of honor and integrity that TRADITIONAL martial instructors and students of any style, not only SSTT -Don't share the art until given permission.

SSTT welcomes anyone to join respectfully because.. Yes, everything above can be verified. Please do not punish or mock the SSTT students or instructors when you see them in person because what is written is not an SSTT secret rather our 'Code of Conduct' is that we don't insult or humiliate our fellow SSTT members or other martial artists of different styles. We learn from our mistakes, so what I mentioned above is a learning tool for SSTT students and future students who will never forget these unfortunate circumstances.

If Spirit Ape has conditions and a Code of Conduct, context on how, when, where, what he is allowed to teach, he can share those conditions. -That's up to him.

I'm backing Spirit Ape's and any other Sifu/Sensei/Instructor of any martial arts styles who has had to get permission to teach their art because I went through a process of getting special permission to teach and it is rude to mock someone when the price of learning with permission to teach a particular art(myself,SSTT) is more painful than any insults, threats or fights; I have experienced in person or in discussion. You are more than welcome to see how different 'Old School' tradition is compared to the average "franchised" martial arts so common today. The main difference is that the Internet makes it very easy to communicate with the world, so ridiculing is easy, misunderstanding is easy. Learning, practicing, transmitting and teaching the true art from the TRADITIONAL masters is still difficult. At this time ICs(instructor candidates) are chosen and may 'DOR/drop on request' to still study SSTT in a user-friendly mode without ever feeling compelled to be an instructor. We will make SSTT easy and accessible so anyone can learn SSTT in a very user-friendly environment. At SSTT no one is forced to be an instructor, our instructor candidates are chosen and can DOR at any time. It's not always pleasant being an SSTT-IC. Even if someone becomes an SSTT Instructor, they cannot teach independantly without permission. It's not fun being an IC, Instructor or Sifu, the pay is terrible so if someone get excited about teaching SSTT it's not for the money. There are some SSTT Instructor(s) who have admitted that being an active SSTT Instructor or Instructor Candidate is just too difficult. They will only teach and promote SSTT when we become profitable and being an SSTT-rogue(unauthorized) instructor isn't worth facing my sifu. IMHO-There are many times being a sifu/sensei/instructor in any style of martial arts, meditation including SSTT *sucks* --a person has to be durable to go the distance and most aren't

  18. An old Tae Kwon Do instructor up in Oregon recommended cold showers. I finally got around to it on a regular basis in college. There was a great scene in the fairly decent movie "Best of the Best" where the Korean TKD team is running through the snow and then meditating in the icy river. So, it was really my ego that got me started on cold showers. I'd climb into the shower stall, aim my face at the spigot, and crank on the cold water, imagining that this would help turn me into a warrior impervious to physical discomfort.

I am so totally NOT in the mood to do this these days, but since it's 80 degrees at ten in the morning here in LA, those days may come back. The feeling of the blood returning to your peripheral tissues after a cold shower is awfully nice.

u don't have to poor ice water on you, but rather slowly lower the temperature while giving enough time for your body to adjust. Also the first few months after starting one should get only to a "cool" temperature level and only later try to get to the "cold" level

  19. Check this out:

    http://www.giveittomeraw.com/forum/topic/s...ATopic%3A113180

Has anyone else heard of this? It's incredible sounding, and makes sense based on human evolution (e.g. we were MADE to take physical damage, made to tolerate quick temperature shifts, made to be durable)

I'm going to give it a shot and see if it improves my circulation and / or asthma.

This is an old practice but simple and efficient and it does require a little bit of preparation - please don't just start randomly diving into cold rivers because if you are not prepared you can have a heart atack.

Daily cold showers at home are a great way to start preparing for this....

  20. Just be a good father - that's huge, more then many are able to do, maybe more then buddha himself.

You have to put yourself in his situation and imagine what would make a perfect dad for you then you'll understand what he needs.

At least that's my goal with my child and it works...
