  1. Quite right! It came with two dvds: one was a documentary on chi-gung in chinese history and its effect on the medical field. I first heard aboutthe 7.5 hertz chi signal that qi gung masters emit through this dvd. Bee-jing Physical Education Center[college?] desighed a chi machine at that time.

just bought it on amazon for $10.00 - can't beat that !

  2.

What do you think? Many of the comments question the legitimacy. I too wonder why only the students were used in the demonstration.

You are asking the right question, Sir. But don't expect any good answers around here. Most of the taobums here practice with teachers just like this one where after a while they "feel" the "CHI" or "QI"etc

It doesn't work on people from outside because outsiders don't believe in him so the verification of the method is very subjective. That's the difference between a real school(very rare) and a school that only has part of the teaching (most of them).

Wait a couple of days and you'll get a whole bunch of comments defending this clown in the video and claiming all kind of things and facts about him simply because deep down in their subconscious they know that they've been lying to themselves the same way for a long time but it would suck to admit it. Because it would mean that you are still at level zero and you would have to start all over from the beginning.

It's a lot easier to become a "teacher" in your own bs style and keep teaching other people the same nonsense.

You don't even have to go all the way to China to see such a marvel - we have a few here in US with the ability to put on even more spectacular shows:

  3. I read Irina Tweedie's book years ago and I felt he was exceptionally cruel to her. Does that make him a realized master? Not necessarily. She did comment in an interview that she accepted his harsh treatment. I still have trouble with this sort of behavior from teachers. In general, teachers that are abusive have unresolved psychological issues and may have been abused as children.

Something similar happened to me with a group of healers here in Santa Fe that nearly cost me my life! Although, I resent (putting it mildly) their harsh techniques, I did become stronger because of it. I don't recommend that path.

    ralis

That harshness was beneficial for her 100% and probably "saved her life".

Gurdjieff wasn't abused as a child - his parents were remarcable!

The "mean" way he was treating his students was totally intentional. That is the essence of the G's method. It is a method designed for very few people.

Ralis you understood it right - you just didn't attribute the right value to it.

People always tried to compare his system to Taoism, Buddhism, Sufi, Zen etc...It's a total waste of time.

Gurdjieff has nothing to do with Taoism, Buddhism, Sufi, Zen - It's exactly the opposite!

His way will never calm you down but rather stir you up to the point that you will hate yourself and your life and that's the only way the real alchemy can occur.

If you became G's student he would make you feel miserable and completely desperate in 3 days, If you accept him as a teacher your entire body will start hurting and you will reach your limits of sanity but you could learn more in 3 days then in 3 years in any other school.

He will show you that you are "nothing" and you don't have any will and no integrity and no self!

It's a method of payment and sacrifice and a reality check - The harsh Zen method's are a vacation when compared to G's way.

He reverses the process that your mothers started.

When you are a baby you are infused with total comfort (that's what good mothers do) and that becomes the center of you life, 100% comfort and peace, cushions and pillows! Also there are answers and solutions to everything and very polite angels and spirits guard you and even GOD himself is totally blown away with how cute the baby is.

And if you know a little poem you get a tasty cookie. Even if you don't remember the stupid poem you still get the cookie - because you are already so smart - just a little shy perhaps...No child left behind.

Sometimes moms and paps are even convinced that the baby is some old soul and so if he is already so freaking advanced just give the poor guy a break. Do him a favor, put him through college - he deserves it.

The death issue is also taken care of, entirely. If you don't go to heaven, you reincarnate or some other comfortable bs, if you don't meditate then you believe and pray or sing on sundays and wear a very good looking cross around your neck (or a crystal, talisman bla bla bla) and remain assured that you are all set - for this life and the life after...... Sometimes you find a very loving guru or a super calm Taichi teacher that feeds you more of that priceless attention and therefore teaches you how to increase your sleep by serving you as a perfect example. He will even give you a TRANSMISSION which is basically a magic pill = less work on your side.

And that's how your last little chance of understanding anything in this life goes straight down the drain. Everything is given to us - don't worry just read the book it's all documented. There's a book for each question you might have.

Our education ensures that we don't DO anything in life - we just follow in the dead man's footsteps:

Go to school, go to college, get a perfect wife, get a house, make money, be nice to people stay away from negativity, stay calm, believe or meditate and be comfortable and peacefull for eternity and you are all set!

The comfort zone is what we are looking for all our lives and all your religions and meditations will give you even more comfort, both in theory and in practice. That's why it's not good to criticize anybody because you bother them. You can't disturb people's sleep. You have to praise them and bless them because you are doing good!

If the above summarizes your life and your goals and you want to keep your comfort then please stay away for Gurdjieff's teachings and Gurdjieff's schools because he will make sure all that goes away !!! The payment is very high and there's a lot of very real pain. He doesn't work with good angels - he works with his majesty Mr Devil himself, but only if you can get him inside yourself! That's the only way to work with G.

Ralis was very correct to recommend against it. Run away from it and forget about it while you can.

  4. True. Fa Shen is part of classical training. A very good explanation of how to work on the method is written up in Miyamoto Musashi's "The Book of Five Rings." Musashi is considered to be the greatest swordsman Japan ever had. His "fa shen" tactics center on the eyes, the way you look, the kind of intent you put into your gaze... Example: you don't look at the opponent, he is transparent to you, you look through him as though he's less than insignificant -- he's actually invisible to you, because what you're already looking at as you look through him is your future where he simply doesn't exist -- because he's dead. THAT kind of a look.

From my own humble experience, fa shen can be easily projected in a verbal conflict simply by entering the latter in a subtle, mostly inner, taiji stance. A body language that spells relaxed un-intimidateable confidence is picked up by the opponent's unconscious, this is how most animal fights are resolved -- there's not much fighting in real animal world (unlike on Discovery Channel portraying nature as vicious and selecting a rare occurrence of a fight to masquerade as business as usual. Business as usual is, instead, a stand-off with subtle, or not-so-subtle, exchange of spiritual intent.) Anyone who lived for a length of time close to lots of feral cats (the way I did) knows that two cats who hate each other's guts will stand and look at each other for an hour, meowing the shivers down each other's spine, stepping half an inch forward, half an inch back, mixing their whiskers while looking each other square in the eye, display fa shen every which way -- and in 9 cases out of 10, the fight itself will never happen, one cat will be victorious and the other one defeated without any fur off either one's nose. The cat with the stronger shen and/or a better skill of projecting it will win every time. My grandmother had a cat like that, a female, who terrorized all competition for 18 years without ever once fighting an actual tooth-and-claw fight. That's a fa shen warrior for you.

"Study the cat, Saihung. Everything you need to learn, she knows already." -- Deng Ming-dao

That explains your avatar.... Here's a kitty for you :)

  5. This morning a second question has occurred to me, and that is: why do they sit 40-50 minutes in the lotus, when most hatha yoga postures are only assumed briefly?

My answer would be, because we work loose, first the sacrospinous ligaments, then the sacro-tuberous ligaments, and finally the sacro-ilial ligaments. We work loose by settling in and accepting the stretch that already exists as consciousness takes place, relaxing as we breath in and out. When we have feeling over the surface of the whole body, then the impact of consciousness and feeling sits, the hit in "just hit sit", or shikantaza.

Equanimity toward pleasant, unpleasant, and neutral feelings is a part of this. Equanimity and relaxation in the face of the involuntary reciprocal innervation of muscle pairs around the pelvis and the sacrum and throughout the body takes a little time to come on, after the humdrum of our daily habit.

I would remind everybody of Cheng Man-Ching's description of the fourth stage in the development of chi: chi penetrates to the skin and hair. Likewise, the Gautamid described the fourth of the initial jhanas as purified equanimity, the cessation of volition in in-breaths and out-breaths, and as feeling like "a strip of cloth wrapped around the head and the entire body".

For me, I walk on my feet sitting down, until I feel the exchange between my upper legs and my sacrum under the pelvis, kind of the forward angles of "the ox crosses the wooden bridge". With luck I can let go and ride the wind, as it were. The wind gets up, when it's time; that's how it goes for me, and I usually sit between 30 and 50 minutes. A little numb in the top foot when I get up.

Answering questions people don't ask, for myself, of course! Thank you; Mark

That's some good stuff, sir, both posts . Did you figure it out all by yourself or do you follow somebody's teaching if you don't mind me asking?

  6. I've seen it used on a TKD kicking dummy. A guy I didn't know came in one day, spoke briefly with our master, and left. On the way out, he passed the dummy and punched it. Nothing happened for a minute. Then the dummy started vibrating. Greater and greater amplitude. Whoosh! -- all the way to the floor and back.

You see that's the biggest problem around here - the guy that can really do it always dissappears and never fully explains the technique and all we are left with a half-known method that will never work because we are missing the other half of the formula.

It's easy to say "keep practicing" - the problem that I see is that nobody really knows what to do. All we can do is keep talking about some vibrating dummy....

  7. Yep!

A drill that is practiced regularly.

    nothing special about it.

If there's nothing special about it - did you develop any Fajin yet ?

Also I am looking for one of these experts that can Fajin his neck out of a real choke not one of these "loving hands" type of approach where the "master" has to explain for half an hour how are you supposed to hold your hands before he can demonstrate his secret skill.....

  8. The Psychic world isn't so black and white. Nothing kills the ability to 'receive' clear information nearly as quickly as the fear of being wrong, and the need to prove.

here is my 'anecdotal' evidence... For years I had a deep pocket in my bag with no chance of me seeing its contents as I put my hand in. Inside I had 5 pens. all the same make, size, shape etcetera. The only difference was the colour- red, blue, black, green and purple.

when I stuffed my hand down the pocket I would 'seefeel' the colour of the pen I was holding in my forhead. I did this hundreds of times and was never wrong. I came to rely on it very quickly rather than pulling them all out to get the one i wanted.

One day I told someone about it and she said "Do it." the second I put my hand in the bag I felt all the worries and thoughts pile in... what if I get it wrong? will she think less of me? and I really wanted to show her I could and Have her believe in me... (she was my girlfriend at the time) And I just couldnt get myself out of the way and got it basicly became a guess, i saw no colour in my head and I pulled out the wrong one.

I have experienced situations like this so many times over the years that I know I could never do the randy challenge or proove it to anyone of a hostile disposition and would not even try. I have to be really relaxed or at least unconflicted to get good information.

Mind you on the occasional moment when I am feeling Hyper confident (cosmicly expansive) I have done smartass things in front of un believers and left them with their jaws hanging.

I dont think these rules apply to the energy arts so much... I think if you have the energy you can use it, like a hand or leg. Johny Chang had no problem zapping the scientists, and probably many people here have been able to give skeptics an experience of energy.

This doesnt require a clear head to nearly the same degree as getting psychic impressions.

I have tested my abilities rigorously for my self.

For years I evaded the transport authorities, by only ever buying a train ticket on the days I 'felt' I would see ticket Inspectors. Every single one of the few days I bought a ticket, inspectors hopped on and asked to see them. This is a great way to put yourself on the line as a fine here is 400$ and you get to see really quickly If the info you get is good. I also think this fine tunes your Danger sence to a great degree...

Walking barefoot in the city for years was also great. every time a patch of broken glass came up I got to practice using my will to not get cut. I would just 'Know' that I would be fine. If my knowing wavered well that would mean a different story usually but not always. The point is that when my Knowing did not waver I never not once received the tiniest scratch. My triumph in this was actually living next to a prickle field that was so full of prickles that one unconscious step was guaranteed to give the foot a prickle. Ouch! eventually I was able to make it over the whole field without getting a prickle but that took a while. often i would get half way before fear would make my will waver...

There are so many things we can prove to ourselves that are so worth the effort, and that make the 'Prove it' screams of the skeptics or the people that want to believe but are not willing to find out for themselves seem so ridiculous.

I never questioned somebody like John Chang - that guy to me is for real. There are a handfull of people just like him at a high level around the world - I've never doubted them. And those are the guys I look up to and I would like to learn from. But they represent probably less then 1% from this world of Inner Arts. They are the exception !

The rest - amateurs which to me don't count. Most of them don't even realise how ignorant they are - and all they do is wear the same t-shirts and all perform these cheap "miracles".... - but you know what - since there's nothing I can do about it anyway I'll shut up and leave those guys to you to admire and when you learn something of real value from them - let me know please - I never had a problem admitting when I felt I was wrong and I'll do it again

  9. I don't find the live fried fish funny, nor is it something that I would personally do. Nor was I trying to justify it.

However, the point does remain that humans ARE animals and Nature CAN be very "cruel." Most predators maim or kill its prey just enough so that it won't get away before they can consume it. Not out of any "compassion."

And here's an even more ruthless example.

P9050735_Nature.jpgIOW, this wasp has evolved to oviposit its eggs into this caterpillar, which then hatch and eat their way out (obviously, killing their host). Now if this is not cruel, then I don't know what is. Yet, this is the very survival strategy this species exclusively uses.

To me these are two totally different things. Animals don't really have a choice they just follow what they have been doing for generations. The wasp has been doing that for thousands of years and its doing it in order to take care of the future generation - that's not the same type of "cruelty" - that's more "the law of the jungle"

Humans on the other hand are supposed to be smarter then that. If you see suffering and you can do smth to stop it (for example they can choose not to participate in that kind of dinner situation or they can just kill the fish to stop the suffering) - instead you see adults looking at suffering and laughing like crazy, no compassion, no respect for life whatsoever - that's an example of people without a heart -that's sad

  10. Every 5 years these retards from Nepal are killing over 500 000 animals for their rituals. They don't eat the meat but only let it rot out in the streets.

I don't know if there's anything we can do but if there's any way to protest this nightmare I would join it right away.

  11. In this vid you can see the power one can generate in Xingyi:

And a good compilation of various Xingyi animal forms:

    Baji:

    And Baji sparring:

    Enjoy!

I don't see any power and I don't see any sparring in any of these videos - none of this makes any sense ...

And by the way what happened to our deal ?

Did you ask your teacher if he would be so kind as to kick my ass or not ?

  12. Well, finally you are opening up your heart and leaving your ego behind. You have taken an important step. Well, I guess you live in the US, right? I am based in Australia and so does my teacher. I can guarantee you that our Bagua system has got nothing to do with most of the shows run on YT. However some of the people putting their material in YT are for real. Luo Dexiu is one of them

My teacher has no vids on YT and zero interest in promoting himself.

He makes a living as an acupuncturist and hynotherapist and is a very reserved individual. His background is Xingyi and then Baguazhang for almost 2 decades. I am not going to show off and tell you this or that. The proof is in the pudding. Come and visit us and you shall see with your own eyes what real IMA is.

If you are interested for a visit and meet my teacher, let me know.

    .....................................

    Next,

    Li style Tai Chi:

If I make the effort and come all the way to Australia you have to promise me that whoever is going to "show" me your the style - will allow me to attack using a basic streetfight attack. I don't want to spend all that money and see demos like in the videos - I want to be able to punch my opponent in the face, full contact and speed or attempt a takedown on him and your style should be able to neutralise me.

  13. Video about Luo Dexiu's Gao style Bagua and his snake throw:

Orb, you and your MMA guys come close to him and there's no way you'll even withstand a single punch.

Anyway in MMA there is no hitting in the back of the head, no groin strikes, no headbutts, no small joint manipulation, no blatant attempts to break bones when you have a grab, no strikes to the throat, etc. What is the point of fighting then? To entertain a brainless and undeducated audience? To see how those big meat-heads loaded on roids roll on the ground, big deal!

The bigger the better for us to given them back all that braindead force.

NDF, I posted a good video about "Sistema applications" a while back. It is somewhere in the first few pages.

    Mr durkhrod chogori,

I have no interest whatsoever in audience, medals or steroids. I am only interested in 100% efficiency. I don't care about chinese clothes or russian camouflage uniforms nor do I care about old stories about old masters and their miraculous skills.

I have tried different IMA methods with a few so called grandmasters and was very dissapointed. Personally I am not by any means too big or too strong but rather average and I would love to learn smth that is a little bit smarter then what I have witnessed so far in the IMA world.

The videos that have been posted on this thread are very similar to the videos that my teachers had and I am very sorry but none of them have impressed me at all.

On the contrary for example, a video with John Chang - is very impressive to me because there's smth very special about that guy and I know that he is for real - while all these other wannabes just don't look right to me - I am saying this just to point out the fact that I don't deny the existence of real internal arts but they are extremely rare and I don't think anybody on this forum is part of a school like that.

If what you are saying was true I would come to you and beg you to let me learn your system. So far the people from IMA that I have met and fought were very weak and their system didn't make any sense - and they were doing exactly the same things that are in these videos that you guys proudly post here. So how the hell am I supposed to believe this when I've seen it in real life and I verified that they don't work.

For example my buddy from the russian "Omon" forces was training directly under Kadochnikov whom they call grandpa and he is said to be the man who put the "Systema" method together - so he is telling me all these theories about their version of internal martial arts and he is an instructor himself and I choke the shit out of him using a basic grappling guillotine and none of his IMA training could do anything about it.

The same happened with a couple of Bagua and Taichi guys....

Again I'm not trying to prove that I am better or stronger - as I am getting my ass kicked on a regular basis by external martial arts practitioners - it never happened with the IMA guys though and I really wish it would ....

  14. <_<

Systema has plenty of internal aspects. Also, my teacher has taught the art of invisibility to some special forces. I guess you didn't see that either, ROFL

    The art of invisibility ???????????????????????????????

Listen kiddo, I'm sorry about taking your posts seriously - also please disregard my posts from now on , I'm not into comic books or japanese cartoons....

  15. Kevin "Kimbo Slice" Ferguson has gone pro and already gotten beaten by 3 MMA guys:

    Sean Gannon

    Seth Petruzelli

    Roy Nelson

However, he has also beaten 4 pro guys as well.

Point being that while he totally dominated on the street level, his record has dropped significantly since competing against trained pros. Ergo, the "streets" are often not as "tough" as people think (assuming barehanded fights).

I couldn't care less about Kimbo slice and his performance - in my opinion he is a total villain and ignorant compared to real martial artists like Fedor Emelianenko. I was just giving an example of a real attack. I have seen a lot of guys like him who are not even pro - who would attack you with such a force that none of your IMA training would be able to sustain.

The videos may be, but some show the 'elements' of it just as well anyway. You must have missed the part where I mentioned that the IMA technique of stealing the puncher's balance works great (every time if the IMA person is good) against muggers and big bad street fighters and is taught to special forces and other 'people' you've never heard of. :( Either that or you ignored it

It wouldn't be taught to US special forces by top masters in the country if it wasn't effective. It requires that the opponent 'give' the IMA artist a punch, and good tai chi people won't give it away.

We also learn how to steal balance against a person with a knife or a gun. You can use it to stab a knife attacker in the neck with their own knife while they are still holding it, so their finger prints are on it. Same thing with a gun, you can shoot them with their own gun while their finger is on the trigger. This is well proven in real life, if it wasn't my teachers wouldn't be alive.

If you are good at yielding it misses every time.

I don't believe a single word you wrote - I've met people in special forces also people from the Russian special forces that are very proud of their "systema" even trained with them for a few months - all I can say is that indeed they were very good at what they were doing - but they trained using external martial arts methods - there was no IMA involved whatsoever and those guys were just as big and strong as Kimbo.

If you ever feel that you or your teachers can block a real attack like you are saying using IMA - let me know.

There are some pretty good tai chi threads over on bullshido. They basically focus on tai chi players who enter sanshou competitions, and they look at video clips of tai chi techniques being applied in competition.

You might have to search far back, but as far as the reputable people on bullshido go (the people who are rational and look at video evidence rather than just hating, yes, they exist on bullshido), they have all pretty much come to the consensus that yes, IMA's work, if you train properly.

I would really like to see such a video. I couldn't find anything.

  16. Have you bothered yourself watching my last video?

Tai Chi is not Bagua, let alone Xingyi.

    For instance,

Let me tell introduce you to Ma Chuanxu, one of the Bagua leaders today in the Bagua world:

Mr. Ma Chuanxu is a living legend among current practitioners of Baguazhang in Beijing. Unlike many other teachers he gained his fame not by winning routines competitions or appearing in martial arts magazines but because of his fighting skills tested in many life-and-death fights with bandits during years of service in Public Security Bureau. Only recently one of his colleagues from PSB revealed some of Ma's feats in one of Chinese martial arts magazines - Ma Chuanxu defeated several art smugglers during a fight; caught several drug dealers; "cleaned" train station in China's Zhengzhou of thieves and bandits (he alone caught more than 110 of them within a month). He did it all without using any weapon. He is probably the only person practicing internal martial arts who was employed as the main martial arts coach by Beijing Municipality Public Security Bureau. Many of his students now serve as bodyguards for high rank government officials in China.

Excerpt from: Interview with Mr. Ma Chuanxu, Liang Style Baguazhang expert from Beijing and president of the Beijing Baguazhang Research Association

    http://www.chinafrominside.com/ma/bagua/machuanxu.html

Besides, I am offering you an invitation to come and see us in Australia. We will show you how to finish an opponent using Bagua and/or Xingyi in less than 3 seconds, even if he carries a weapon (this does not include shooting firearms). Send me a PM if interested.

I don't know if you are addressing me but if you are then I would love to come and see that.
