In compassion brother, Love yourself enough to reflect that Love upon all living beings starting with this man you say disgraces your culture, yet so freely surrender your own priceless innerpeace through trading Now to instead focus upon and re-live his choice of actions.
Perfect and imperfect are found in our personal choice of subjective bias alone. When one judges their perception of another being, one is inherently only judging ones own choice of bias in perceptions. Universally and inherently, the singular being to judge is oneself.
Forgive all things arisen and yet to arise, and in doing so liberate the bondage of suffering all expecation of outcome of what may have been or may yet to be. So many practices with paths to self liberation already experienced, all that is left is application of the knowledge and experience towards wisdom of liberation and unbreakable peace of equanimity that is deserved by all beings equally.
Zen-Bear you remain free to choose to Love yourself and this man and be thankful to all beings for the life experiences they have provided, including the type we place our bias of injustice or whatever other subset manifestation of fear we want to label in our personal delusion we trade the unfathomably beautiful Now to maintain as a proxy.

Buddhism and Christianity really don't mix much at all.... per doctrines and many meanings, although in non-violence there is a lot of common ground. Otherwise in trying to correlate major concepts which don't match one will get into gumbo mud up to their eyeballs.Religion = Re-Link
Unlimited paths to linking to the natural state (Reality).
If one wishes to focus on perceived contradictions and disparity, then one gains improved awareness of perceived contradictions and disparities.
Ultimately the choice of path and its practices and all verbal and physical aspects of that path are irrelevant.
Reality remains Reality, all/any religion/experience prior does not change Now.

Are you referring here to your specific concepts of energy as light transmission and silence as light reception?
What seems to be your body, mind and the summation of all combined life experiences was ultimately some fleeting manifestation of borrowed energy from the universe.
There has been no portion of the life experience that wasn't perceptions of energy.
A being is free to live in a self/indoctrination-created delusion of interpretation bias of this energy and replace awareness of the all encompassing energy. A being is equally free to recognize all it's own thoughts, bias and illusion-of-understanding as exclusively non-real delusion, and in doing so surrender/still the mind into a state of perception (of this energy that composes all that you have ever experienced) alone.
In this state of perception, there is no comprehension, no judgement, no bias, no thought, no delusion. It is not possible to create a check-list for getting here, nor some intellectual lesson to learn that arrives you there, as items on a list and words in a book are merely stacking additional delusions to obscure perception of reality.

The body may deliver sensations. It is not a requirement for the mind to receive them as pain, this is a choice of fear-filtered interpretation.
Decades of competitive and non-competitive motorcycling and auto racing brought with it the experiences of breaking most limbs, back, neck, ribs etc and cumulatively grinding square feet of skin off my body. Simple mindfulness can enable perfect comfort and peace with a body offering sensations of broken bones ruptured through the skin. That said, I've found internal organ sensations can be substantially more intense than mere broken bones, ligaments and abrasions.
'Pain' and 'pleasure' are sensation, what makes the sensation pleasure is receiving and interpreting it with Love and enjoying it. This is also a possible choice with 'pain' sensations, to interpret them with Love and enjoy them as pleasure (perhaps a counter-to-survival skill).
As a primary path, perhaps making efforts to cease the unwanted sensations with the many good ideas given above. For what sensations remain, perhaps share awareness that sensation is as powerful as she makes it through how she chooses to fearfully focus conscious perception upon it, or mindfully recognizing it as another transitory and fleeting sensation.

This translation's replacement of "Logos" with "Word" has given rise to a mass scale misunderstanding.
We ended up at this translation from unrealized beings performing translations (the same reason often amidst some quote of beautiful enlightened wisdom incorporates some translators obvious misperception of the nature of reality.)
The common english translation:
In the beginning was the Word,
and the Word was with God,
and the Word was God.
The same was in the beginning with God.
Came from the already half mixed up version in Latin:
In principio erat Verbum,
et Verbum erat apud Deum,
et Deus erat Verbum.
Hoc erat in principio apud Deum.
Which came from this earlier version:
In principio erat Verbum Logos,
et Verbum erat apud Deum,
et Deus erat Verbum Logos.
Hoc erat in principio apud Deum.
Which came from "Logos" meaning the "Way of Nature", or "Divine Law" or "Natural Law" or "Way of Universe".
Greek politicians well prior to Christ were hard at work leveraging ways to pervert the term "Logos" into meaning man's delusions of domain over the consciousness of others he calls "laws". As man's constructed laws don't exist beyond idle words and the folks who choose belief in them, Logo's by association with man's laws developed the vernacular mass misunderstanding of meaning "word" when used to describe "Logos".
Strong motivation existed to not have a proletariat which recognizes itself and all things as God equally, as non-dual awareness encourages liberated fearless populations of free thinking beings (which are incompatible with government and indoctrination based religion).

It dies when the brain go dead. Yes, I know, others will disagree with me. But there is no proof to support either if we include the concept of consciousness moving to another dimension upon death.
On the topic of pulling wild unproveable guesses out of the air...
Perhaps at the moment of death one gets an outwardly perceived 'fraction of a second' in a state of timeless perception. It would be indistinguishable from the limit of a humans ability to know it from being an eternal afterlife, and it would be as pleasant or as unpleasant as one chooses it to be.
If a person is unpleasant company, they experience the sensation of self-inflicted hell for a timeless eternity. If a person is pleasant company, they enjoy a timeless eternity of self-inflicted pleasantness.
I know nothing, but have experienced the timeless indescribable state of which 0.01second or a trillion^2 years is equanimous to the limit of a humans ability to know it.

Perhaps someone can help with the jump from not-knowing a thing to knowing something. Ive read and appreciate the responses in this thread each a few times with an open mind.
It seems the process described as 'knowing' for some is to become comfortable with the idea of a given unknown faith based assumption, then grow confidence in the assumption, and eventually make a choice of confidence the faith based assumption is real, and then make the faith based jump into calling this is assumption of real 'knowing'?
Im eager to entertain that humans have some process to 'know' more than the faith based delusions of there own fabrication and choosing as real.
I also once believed when I looked around me, I was emersed in an ocean of things I knew. I found this to be exclusively illusion/delusion when examined.

If you would be so kind Marblehead my friend, perhaps you could share with me examples of stuff you know are confident in your proof of knowing.
I lack even a mechanism to know if my entire life experience stream has all been a dream, and all my collected experience data points have not been more than perceptions filtered through human sensory limitations and bias.
As beings who perceive in 3 dimensions and an infinitely thin slice of a 4th, we tend to get pretty confident about having a handle on things, despite perhaps complete transparency of sensory equipment to detect the higher level dimensions required to give rise to the tiny fraction we directly see/touch/taste/smell in this infinitely thin slice of the 4th we call Now.

I don't claim to know anything but perhaps a Mystic chooses to appreciate the mystery of reality.
The skeptic/realist/atheist is perhaps those who choose to appreciate some faith-rooted bias in human constructed models.
Neither is a better option, both require trading Now.

Life can offer some sensory perception. The interpretation of sensation as good or bad remains the exclusive choice of a single consciousness.
Lay down the concept of expectation for experience. Lay down expectation for a given quality of life standard.
In laying these things down, one becomes free to embrace continously manifesting reality with unbreakable peace, unbreakable contentment, unbreakable appreciation of this moment of Now.
Each being is as trapped/doomed/victomized by its reality as it believes itself to be.
At this moment, you are only a choice in state of mind away from unlimited peace and indescribable bliss. It is equally a choice to choose a state of non-bliss, but this choice is pointlessly incompassionate to yourself who deserves your love more than anyone.

There is no risk, threat, or malice in my words beyond what one adds through there own bias of interpretation. There is no need for concern or to feel threatened, liberation is not something words can forcibly impose, it is a gift that only each individual can give to themselves in this one fleeting moment called life.
One is free to choose clinging to belief as an alternative for the liberation of perception of Now. As with any clinging, continued self-imposed suffering is the fruit it yields the believer.
Perhaps as a helpful exercise, try finding something you Know. Then trace the root of that thing to it's foundation. Perhaps one finds all things previously assumed to be 'known' to be rooted in exclusively faith-based-assumption processes (with optional choices of faith-based-assumption process labels of 'science' or 'reason' or 'religious knowledge' etc). After one runs out of things to be deluded into having been knowable, space has been cleared for wisdom to replace the former illusions of knowing.

If you care to speak for yourself, fine. However, to claim that all persons are delusional has no basis in fact and stands unproven. Furthermore, your condemnation is insulting to persons that think for themselves.
Each being is free to live in there own personal constructed delusion. They are each equally free to choose new awareness of reality as insulting if they wish to do so. This doesn't change the nature of human questions and answers from extending relevance beyond ones own individual choice to incorporate it into their own constructed delusion set.
Each human is free to choose to believe that their own minds bias'/philosophy/logic/religion/beliefs are an equivalent and/or replacement for the nature of reality.
All the same, the nature of reality to the limit of a humans ability to know it will remain perception of Now in emptiness. The nature of reality doesn't require anyone's acceptance or understanding, it equanimously remains the nature of human reality.
Reality is Now and as humans we have a choice to perceive it or a choice to dwell in ones preference of constructed delusion sets.

What may have been is only memories of perception experiences filted through biases. This is true for all human minds choosing to imagine delusions of the past or equally of what may become.
Through whatever adventures you had the good fortune of being alive today to enjoy pondering the quandary of reality. For this reason, it is a most excellent time to enjoy this moment of Now brother.

Emotion ultimately is as one believes and perceives it to be, nothing more or less.
A self imposed bias on Now with effects ranging from perception of 'all powerful' to 'imperceptible' depending on choice.
There are no delusions worth accepting in trade for this moment of Now which encompasses all that is real to the limit of your ability to know it. This includes any delusions of how something once was, or how something may be.
If one is choosing to live in a state of being nagged by ones memory of past events, before even bothering with any further efforts, stop and forgive everything including yourself and all things arisen and yet arisen. Forgiveness isn't something done for the sake of others, it's the tool to cut through the binding straps of pointlessly clinging to the previous or fearing the potential of what may come. There is only Now, one is equally able to appreciate that or suffer it through replacing it's awareness with webs of delusions in the mind.

In imagining a way to cause harm, one lives it. In imagining a way to cause love, one lives it.
If someone is being kind, be thankful and Love them.
If someone is being cruel or unkind, be extra thankful and Love them. It is only through those who offer experiences of cruelty that enable us to recognize and appreciate experiences of kindness.
When disliking something, this is yourself choosing to suffer disliking. In doing so, one chooses to trade there own peace and contentment for this experience of being upset.
Many claim they only want peace and kindness, yet paradoxically when given the opportunity to throw there own peace an kindness away, they are more than willing to do so for most any reason from traffic etiquette to perceived cruelty/rudeness.
There is nothing another being can do that impacts ones ability to choose peaceful contentment of Now. Every alternative is the conscious choice to pointlessly contribute more suffering to a realm that already has plenty.

Oneness, like all words, means nothing more than the individual reader's interpretation.
Trying to explain Oneness (non-dual ultimate reality) through using a dualistic set of constructs is beyond standing in a sand storm trying to calculate the new shape the dunes will take from watching the path of each grain of sand fly through the air in the desert. That said, I enjoy the exercise of the inherently futile, so here goes.
All that a human has experienced is some human perception artifacts. When one experiences what appears to be something separate (like a pebble), this is the Oneness appearing as a separate to the limit of a human perceptions.
If ones perception were referenced from 'pupils' each the size of a galaxy of galaxies, one would see the universe as a flux of energy with fleeting energy gradients in emptyness. With a precise enough 'microscope' it might be possible to see individual stars fluttering as they condense and light off and burn out before collapsing back into black holes to get sprayed out as energy once again and repeat the cycle. If one references reality from 'pupils' the size of sub-atomic particles, there is also only a flux of fleeting energy gradients in emptyness. Realization sufficiently inward becomes equanimous with sufficiently 'outward' is a first step towards the word "Oneness" gaining meaning to it's reader. What gives rise to the illusion of non-oneness being possible is merely perception referenced artifact.
From the perspective of the reader of these words, everything one believes one has experienced has inherently not existed outside the readers individual perception reference. From this arises awareness each individuals unique reality they created is inherently Oneness, despite being entirely manufactured, inherently no aspect of the manufactured reality exists outside that manufactured reality.
If one imagines the planet earth and sun and atmosphere etc removed from the Oneness that IS, what happens? A race between ones blood boiling from low pressure while simultaneously approaching ~>0degK from radiated IR loss with nothing to reflect energy back to ones body. What if the sun "left" the system of Oneness but left the earth? What happens only the atmosphere departed? What about if only things that could photosynthesize departed the Oneness? One may rapidly discover they were not an island, but only existing as a fleeting loan of energy from the whole of a system that as a complete assembly offers the ability for one to experience 'living'.
Lastly, through QM entanglement experiments, if one is into 'trusting science' (an alternative method of making faith based assumptions), then one must accept the constructs of "time", "space-time", "matter", "distance/volume/space" to all be non-real artifacts of perception that exist exclusively in an indeterminate undefined state until the act of perception by a consciousness.

Wisdom is un-knowing.
Knowing is a confusion of replacing what IS with some constructed set of faith based assumptions.
Complete wisdom is complete realization of why nothing was knowable.
Why Love wisdom then? When one realizes they don't know and can't know, they can then perceive the mystery of Oneness without trying to force it into some inherently incorrect bounds of 'the known' they had manufactured pointlessly.

The last paragraph in this quote is either a very poor translation, out of context or simply very misleading. I understand that the heading of this group of posts is Mis-labeled and is not about "Seeing, recogniszing and maintaining ones enlightenment" - but with that said in the context of general inspirational spiritually related quotes - this is the kind of quote that creates a great deal of problems for many who read it. The three paragraphs do not appear to be from an enlightened one - but with translations as they often are - it is possible. "Taking on their suffering and giving in return ones own well being" A very poor choice of words.
Many/all translations don't go beyond fumbling in the dark trying to get close. The original composer also had to fumble together some word arrangements.
It is possible to 'take on suffering' and immediately lay it down having never burdened oneself with it. If one had unlimited/unbreakable 'well being' to give out, they may give it and not have that act of giving diminish there own.
Qualities that pertain to a state of mind or state of perception need not have limits imposed that arise beyond ones own choice in a belief of limitation.

Can a human use ink/paint/sculpting/jewels to improve a lotus flower bloom?
Recognize all of nature, including bodies are already that lotus bloom. One is always free to deface whatever one chooses, one may alternatively choose to recognize and appreciate what was already perfect.
Even predating cultural interest in imposing fleeting human aesthetic interests into natures perfection, there were cultural interests in murder and control and domination of beings. The fact something is old is no indicator of value, purpose, or ethics, however it's also not a non-indication.

Yes.
There is nothing to attain, a conclusion of process concepts (and the belief set that preceeds them) over a process itself.
However, as one has a body today, its available to gather variety in experience to offer realization opportunity. Meditation can offer an opportunity for a solidly directed intent to realize (the nature of reality), the range of experiences are the puzzle pieces one has to apply towards realization, but none of them are required.

Can't stop it. There are too many humans on the planet.
Each may only choose to use or discard ethics for themselves, not for others.
To say it can't be stopped is a bit short sighted my friend, all non-sustainable processes stop. The choice is if you want to wait until the last forest is cleared for cattle pens and the last river is poisoned with the blood and feces byproducts of the murder that defines the mass corpse eating ritual practices. Either way it all stops, one way it stops after bringing more mass scale death and suffering to all living beings.
For those who may have been indoctrinated to believe otherwise, it is indeed possible to thrive in vibrant health living from fruits and vegetables. If someone believes it to be some detriment to physical performance, it would be a pleasure to begin a run or ocean swim with you and see who stops first.

This is singularly your own personal choice in delusion. I can inherently can not offer an explanation or definition of the of the unexplainable and undefinable, yet in enjoyment of the pursuit of the futile, out of Compassion for your awareness I will make an attempt.
All things equally are God, all aspects of this moment of Now which contains all that is real to the limit of a humans ability to know it is God. God is not something you look for, as every aspect of your being to look with is already God, and there is no place you could look or mind to ponder with that is not already God. All phenomena that ever may have been, is Now, or will be is equally God. God is the nature of the emptiness from which all perceived phenomena arise. God is equally the emptiness and nothingness of all things and no things from before all phenomena existed to post all phenomena concluding simultaneously.
When a human mind (including my own of course) chooses to apply it's own personal perception limited delusions of 'knowing' to God, in that instant perception of God and all that is of God (Now) is replaced by some inherently lacking human constructed model.
Whatever one creates as a model or understanding of God's being or equally God's not being, this is delusion. There remains nothing a human can know, there is only this perception of Now which embraces all that is Real.
When we choose to create the faith based illusion of having 'known something' (supporting the existence of God or denying the existence of God), this is a human immersed in deluding themselves with the unknowable to replace all that is Real (which each being is free to believe is of God or of no-God makes no difference, either way you don't know and lack the mechanism for knowing).
We are here to perceive phenomena for a fleeting moment. When I eat an apple, I don't personally have a clue what micro-nutrient components of that apple belong becoming my brain or my muscles or energy to oxidize with the air I breath etc. When I break my body, it knows how to heal despite myself not even understanding the function of the broken mechanism, when I plant a seed and it grows, when I awake and feel the suns warmth, when I drop and object and it falls to the earth, these phenomena do not occur because some human's labeled various aspects they observed and quantified rates of effect and applied meaningless tags like 'gravity', 'light' and 'cellular reproduction' etc.
This collection of phenomena of unlimited beauty is my personal delusion of God, any and all are equally welcome to call the collection of phenomena 'not-God' if they want, the phenomena remains equanimous to the humans choice in recognition appreciation of the unlimited beauty it offers in all aspects from all perspectives.
Real Divine Love doesn't control, nor does it imply a bias to the choice in interpretation/perception of sensation. It simply IS the phenomena provided for your perceptions. There is no point at which a human suffers that is not exclusively the choice of that being to suffer (ignorance causing fear-rooted thoughts). Real Divine Love (Reality of Now) permits you to freely choose to toil and suffer pointlessly as hard as you like. Without that range of experience one could not appreciate the choice of non-suffering unbreakable bliss that is also equally always available entirely irregardless of whatever the current transitory fleeting sensation may be or not be in this one precious moment of Now we each get until our singular divine entitlement unavoidably concludes it.
