  1. reality is like a dream

Maybe we'll wake up when everything rests. As for implications, we learn from our dreams. Consciously from analyzing them in our awake state, and on a deeper level we reorganize lessons for effective execution, back in "reality". So, assuming this is a dream, you'd better do something worthwhile with your time here, so as to help evolve the greater mind that contains us. I've come to believe that there is only mind, which can/must be compartmentalized within itself to function. There is no thing that exists as what we like to think of as physically being there. Instead, all is the imaginings of mind within mind, exploring itself within to expand/define its horizons. In other words, we are all part of the God mind; our actions, beliefs and feelings all adding together to enhance the overall understanding/experience. The same pattern is reflected within our own image.
  2. Ghost immortality

Yin and Yang are equally opposite to the directionless. Apologies for plucking out that one comment. I'm just reading through this interesting thread for the first time.
  3. Avoid gurus, follow plants.

Interesting this topic should pop up, I'm heading off to Bali in a couple of hours. There, mushrooms are legal and are treated respectfully as having spititual/medicinal properties. It's been about 4 years since my last heavy trip, and there's really no place better to experience life through the eyes of a fungus. Once having tried something like this, you'll understand it's not something you want to do every day. You have a profound experience (hopefully) that then requires much time to process and reflect on. As long as you can remain in control, not forming a habit of chasing the high, it's a worthwhile experience that everyone should go through.
  4. The origin of mankind

My favourite topic, but we can only speculate. Early man was a lot tougher and more capable of living as part of nature, with less individualism and imaginary roles to play. We didn't live together in such over-populated places. Life was pretty good, but our species has been scarred with memories of suffering and hardship, brought on by large scale natural disasters, prompting us to seek outside strength. That desire to have power over nature, power in numbers, and lately power through machines and computer intelligence has forced an exchange of what we can do physically, for what we can invent outside of ourselves. Needless to say, we are now weaker, smaller and more mentally chaotic than early man. That's why we seem so out of place in today's world, and can't imagine how we got here. Of course, invention and technology has many benefits, and it was inevitable we'd wind up on this path. Our roots keep us grounded in the ways of old, so that we may remember a simpler existence, but we branch out to the future not quite knowing what fruits the next season will bring; and that mystery is what keeps us going...going crazy.

  6. The origin of mankind

You might also appreciate the science of Walter Russell, but perhaps ignore the religious stuff as that might not settle too well with you.
  7. The origin of mankind

Actually, the expanding Earth idea makes a lot of sense if you're open to the idea of an electrical universe. It's one of those theories I don't go around openly talking about, but looks like it has a good chance of being right.
  8. The origin of mankind

    Walter Russel fan?
  9. Chakras, how do you consider them.

From my understanding, all chakras are points in the body that allow life-energy (ether) to flow through us. The 7 we typically work with are the major flows, which in turn regulate the lesser vortices. They can be worked on both physically and mentally, by removing resistance through posture and clarity. Essentially, if you get them all running smoothly, you'll have a better experience of being here.
  10. My Life in the Suicide Ranks

Well done! The mind can do incredible things when it's on your side.
  11. "somebody up there"

    You'd make a great Vulcan ;P
  12. Finding purpose in life.

Being a decade deep, you've probably heard this kind of advice before..but sometimes we need reminding. Get back in the mindset of play, but not for any real purpose. Contemplate what you can build and be part of for the simple joy of being there. Look through eyes of discovery for what's been going unnoticed. Redefine your subconscious filters to let more in.
  13. Gravity Waves

So, we've detected a vibration from space but it's only 1/1000th the size of a proton... We were hoping for something much more obvious, but this tiny variation is all we could find. Ok. Well, we need more funding and can't fail this huge project...not to mention this is a last ditch effort to prove Einstein hasn't set us back a few centuries. Let's get the math heads to work on something that's never been observed, to see what they suggest. The number guys say that there's a possibility they can pin the blame on 2 black holes colliding. GREAT! Gravity and black holes go hand in hand! Can we say roughly how far away they were? Ah, yes...well there is some bad news, sir. If we go with this black hole idea, the nunbers say it has to have happened 1.4 billion years ago. And that's the only thing we've managed to detect with all this equipment? Yes Alright, let's announce it with such confidence that people don't second guess these findings. Start making calls to those who have already staked their careers on gravity and relativity. They'll all be eager to publicize this to help support their own work. I'll get science poster boys Tyson and Green to make a few YT videos.
  14. Gravity Waves

I just can't buy into it. It seems like another relativity revival effort, and there's been a lot of pushing the theory recently as it continually fails in light of new discoveries. Things like dark matter & dark energy have been invented to help this flawed idea that gravity is the only force of the cosmos. Black holes that were originally taught to be voids that not even light could escape, now have excretion rings and shoot out impossible amounts of energy (impossible for gravity) in the form of quasars. Even the expanding universe is based on the flawed understanding of red shift. Scientists have found some kind of miniscule vibration in space, this I don't doubt. Does this bring us any closer to greater understanding? Probably not, yet it's being hyped up as a massive step forward. I imagine there was a lot of pressure to prove this was money well spent.
  15. if Trump is Biff...

I used to dislike him a lot for his obnoxiousness , but as old school as his strategy is, he's a smart guy that knows how to handle a conversation well. He purposely plays himself down as a bit of a clown, giving him an advantage. However, I don't believe he gives a **** about the country and its people. If it all goes pear shaped, a country is ruined, while he gets let off the hook to continue a life of luxury.
  16. if Trump is Biff...

    Has to be Ted Cruz
  17. Interview questions

You seem like a nice kid: 1) There was a time I had many out of body experiences and caught a glimpse of something more, beyond this level of physical reality. That , plus previous experiences of things I couldn't explain led me to seek answers outside of science. Daoism felt like a good fit for me as a way of life, without all the dogma associated with most religion. 2) You may get many different answers on this, and that's because inner alchemy relates to many different things. As above, so below. It is a mental process, as well as a physical and metaphysical one. However, they are all related. 3) I'm still working on aspects of my life, and perhaps will be for a while longer; the first step is to realise what must be worked on. In the early stages it's like a new world has been revealed to you. This sensation repeats as you peel back the first few layers. Then, the uglier side shows its face. It can feel as if you've gone off track. There's suddenly too much to cope with, and changing aspects of yourself which are rooted deep into your ego seem impossible at times. Later, it settles and you regain control. The journey teaches you many things about yourself and life in general; peacefulness comes easier as does seeing through stressful situations. 4) For a few years I meditated 2 hours a day. It brought me peace and many realizations. However, my current situation doesn't allow much time to meditate in the traditional sense. Instead, I try to be in an open meditative state while still getting life done. As for the realizations, some were personal while others were greater truths relative to all. 5) I don't like to use the word enlightened as it suggests an end. Those that claim to be are often fooling themselves, or are using the word in a different context. Many use the word to describe the peeling back of those first few layers, before having to deal with deeper issues. Getting through this period is still not an end. EnlightenING is maybe a better word. Sorry I don't go into much specific detail, that often only confuses things more. Good luck on your project and curiosity into the Dao.
  18. I'm so extremely lost

In short, it all happens very gradually. Forget about time all together, whenever possible. After all, time is simply a measure of the many processes going on. The time it takes to travel around the sun (our daily measure of time) has no influence over our own inner processes. Instead, it is the actual process itself (orbiting the sun in this case) that may have electromagnetic relationships to our behaviour. So, what I'm saying is, judge yourself in relation to process rather than how much "time" you've used. Know that it's ok to take lifetimes to achieve what this particular process requires. It creeps up so slowly, it's like watching the moon move across the night sky. Watching it, you'll never see it move, until it arrives.
  19. The Third Eye

    1. It's a physical core. 2. It has a possible crystaline structure. 3. It creates part of a unifying electric field. The rest you can enjoy figuring out yourself
  20. SQL error

I keep getting an SQL error when trying to click into General Discussions, while all other parts of the site are working fine. It's been several days, tested on different networks. Thanks in advance for any help
  21. Life after Awakening

My friendly advice is to lighten up. Play doesn't always need to have a point. Sometimes there is no point, and that's the beauty of it.
  22. Philosopher's Stone?

Your will must hard as stone to be successful. Whether or not this is what they meant when the term was coined, I don't know. In my opinion, the names placed on this same thing (stone, pill, embryo etc..) are basically a mental process and construct to live by. Although, they very well may have equally valuable alternate meanings; possibly even physical.
  23. zhan zhuang posture

If it's working for you, then I don't want to discourage you....but, the legs will hardly get strengthened in this position as all of the upper body weight is being held up by the lower back and (hopefully) stomach muscles. I'm not familiar with CK Chu, so I did a quick search that produced mostly just info from his personal site, and one comment on a message board from 2013: "I am 47 with a family and started. At CK Chu school The master recently passed on and now the school is run by his students all very good people The style is not traditional yang as far as I can tell One issue I have is it seems to be Aggravating my lower back" Lower back pain is exactly what I'd expect as a result. To me, it seems like something an already in shape person has invented for his lesser in shape students, but made the mistake of basing the technique on his own body and understanding of it. So my advice is, if you like it, go for it....but if you find your back starting to ache, you know the first thing to drop.
  24. zhan zhuang posture

I doubt you will find any, because that is AWFUL posture. We should stand naturally straight, pivoting the pelvis forward slightly. Weight should be equal between the stomach and back, with the majority of work being done by the muscles just under the butt cheeks. Once you find the sweet spot, you'll be able to hold it almost effortlessly.
