  1. I said: "There are several points of view on the ancient character of Dao and its right side";

"Characters' writing has changed, and its understanding and interpretation have changed as well".

How can the meaning of Tao be changed?

Once written by creators the definite meaning is put in the character. This meaning cannot be changed later. How can meaning of the one definite written chacter can be changed? I'm not saying about understanding and interpretations. We are talking about the old form of TAO.

My second question - why don't you give the meaning of the old form of TAO in the article instead of modern interptratation that is far away from the old form meaning??

Sure, red is a good color for yang; when you age the grey will be yin.

I don't know. I don't do the Chinese characters. But if you think it fits that would be fine.

Such interesting method for Yin-Yang theory :)

No I think it will not fit. Better to search and to decribe the oldest forms from the point of Chinese itselves. And they are saying that three strokes in the right part int's not Yin-Yang, it's - defenite thing.

  2. I was laughing for a long! LOL)))))

Among the works that Lao-tzu translated, his translation of the _Bhagavad Gita_, with the
Chinese title “Tao-te ching,” remains far and away the best. If
you don’t believe me, a humble scholar, just read Victor H.
Mair’s translation into English of Lao-tzu’s translation into
    Chinese of the _Bhagavad Gita_.

  3. Well, if we view yin-yang as shades of grey instead of black and white then, yes, that would be my hair.

    Edit to add:

Or how about instead of hair it is emitted Chi (wisdom)?

    1. And if I have red hair - will it be Yin-Yang from the point of red? :D

    2. Chi (Wisdom) you meant this character: "zhì"?

  4. So from your words

Although characters' writing is different, their essential meanings are not contradictory, but complementary

it means "stream, river, creek, plain", "eyes with eyelashes/eyebrow", "head with hair", trigram "Qian - Heaven" and "two titles on the top are symbolical of yin and yang" are the same? hair is the same thing as yin-yang?

  5. Hi Vitali. Thnx for the interesting info about Tao. Read with pleasure. I wanted to specify the etymology of the Tao character - 道. In the article it is said "...Hieroglyph consists from 2 parts: left and right. The right part may also be divided into two parts: upper and lower ones. The upper right part means “integrated Universe”; two titles on the top are symbolical of Yin and Yang. This means that the whole Universe consists from two polar powers and, meantime, stays being an integrated unit...." The character in ur article is modern one. So I 've looked in the internet for the oldest forms of Tao character (attaching it to the post) And the right upper part is not two lines, there are three lines. So could you please explain me how it corresponds with ur interpretation?

  6. Let me put my 1pence into discussion. 1st - you will never find a knowlege without teacher. To learn smth in TAO you must find teacher. Otherwise you are intent to be Bhudda (to learn all by yourself) and how much persons are able to do all by themselves? right one in a millions. The same thing is told in every ancient and mordern manuscripts - find a teacher, because there some moments in Tao that is hard to understand with our level of energy. Someone must lead us in this practice, who already leveled up. Second - all magic things and magical powers ARE the consequience of practice and they are not the goal. If you are using such magic things - it takes from you some amount of energy. The more you use - the less energy in you. Such things called "Flowers on the road" - you must go further by the road and don't pay much attention to these pritty things))

  7. I think you American's should cheer up. As a Brit I know how painful it is to be an ex world power but hey there's life after world dominance you know. You gave the world Kentucky Fried Chicken, Cola and Marlborough Lights which must be a good thing.

It must be JOKE)) what is good in Cigaretes and in Cola?

I'm coming in rather late to the conversation but I do have a few thoughts. They relate to karma.

We, the U.S., in order to build our country, kidnapped nearly an entire continent of people to build it for us against their will. Then, once the country was built, the kidnapped and enslaved people were released, but no further thought was given to their welfare. There was no organized attempt to socialize the freed slaves into society, no organized attempt to teach them living skills appropriate for this country.

Sorry to remind, but 1st colonists and there following childes DID KILLED most of the Natives. So future americans had come and wipe most of the population who lived there. Any questions about karma? About what these nation will crop after centuries for that crime? Yes I agrre that for ex the modern americans are not guilty for these crime, but this is there larma as a nation. And a lot of things must be happened to change this karma, to clear it up.

Anyway what I wanted to say is - we are living in the Kali Yuga period, The America (almost against her citizens) is the symbol now of that following on the bottom of human life, decreasing spirit and cultivating all sins. The only way is to cultivate your spirit...

  8. If you read my posts you will see that the word "cure" is not in my vocabulary.

We do "High Level healing". This is where the only thing we are concerned with is helping a person achieve his/her destiny. These reports are mostly reports of side-effects. The real "healing" occurs on an energy-body level and is usually beyond our mental interpretation. Although most times we see the results - many times this changes a persons view of who/what they are and where they are in life. Astounding changes we see.

I have worked on people with eye problems - but usually of a different nature than what you have. I can't remember anyone ever coming into my clinic and asking me to work on their nearsightedness.

I know I can see better after practicing Stillness-Movement and Gift of the Tao. And we do have a specific eye exercise in our system and a specific clinical qigong approach to eyes. I think the exercises, over a long term, would be more beneficial than any one session in clinic.

    Hello!

You should ask this question of your physician. As with all exercise programs, a person needs to approach this with practicality. The movements are active exercise.

If I personally had cardiac problems (and I do have genetic cardio disorder; all my mom's family died of heart attacks), depending on the nature of those problems, if I were able to do cardio-active oriented exercises, I would practice this stuff religiously (and I do).

    A story:

My mother had congestive heart failure and had 3 heart attacks. The doctors at the time told us she didn't have much time left. I did this Medical Qigong & Taoist Medicine therapy on her and showed her one of the exercises to do every day. Her heart lasted another 12 years - she passed on while I was away on a trip.

Thanks a lot - will try to do my best, cause when you are ill the life get more importance to you! THNX for ur advice!!

  9.

During my meditative training, I have uncontrollably been heating up and getting those "cool" rushes of heat through my body. I've decided to start learning how to gain better control of my energy rather than letting it run wild and leaving cold when I want to be warm and hot when I want to be cool.

I've found some info on tummo and how to heat up your body but I haven't found anything on how to reduce body temperature to cool down. Anyone know of anything that might help me with this?

As I read in the translations of one encient manuscript - the regulation of your temperature depends on the condition of your bidy. If in meditation it is heating or cooling - than meditation is to earlier for you - you must (as was written) get control of your body by moveable trainings.

  10. well youre supposed to be able to do that once you create the gold elixir in the body - many taoist were known to hold 1 breath for 6 months...

well that guru in the end is a immortal - no yin - no urine, sweat etc - thats one of sign - and without the need to eat or drink - CHeck out dicussions between zhong and lu

Agreed with all! As I read meditation is the one of the last steps of to be immortal. For me for example it would be deathfull to seat for a long time and not to eat. For such practices your body already must have elixir in it, otherwise it would be corrumtion of the body

  11. Folks - there is Chinese Holiday Today! Moon!)) Congratulations to everyone!

Falling on the 15th day of the 8th month according to the Chinese lunar calendar, the Mid-Autumn Festival is the second grandest festival after the Spring Festival in China. It takes its name from the fact that it is always celebrated in the middle of the autumn season. The day is also known as the Moon Festival, as at that time of the year the moon is at its roundest and brightest.

The Moon Cake is the special food of Mid-Autumn Festival.

  12. Yes, this understandable, but how to do it without knowledge? If to behave like child - children always wanted many things that Lao Zi for example wpuld say - they are dust for us, the wishes leades to a struggle. So this point - to let us be spontaneously - is not completed without smth else..?

  13. Now reading Zhuang Zi and it is said there in the chapter 23

'Be like a newborn child.' A newborn child moves about without knowing why, and goes places without knowing where he's headed. His body seems like a branch on a withered tree and his mind seems like dead ashes. Being like that, there's no sense of misfortune overcoming him or waiting for good fortune to arrive. Without experiencing either misfortune or good fortune, what calamities could happen to him!"

Very good advice, but how to do it I don't know. I guess the secret of Tao is concealed in such practical advices to do smth step by step, I mean physical excercises - I mean not only to meditate but also to do some excercises. But where to find such men of knowledge....that is the question.

  14.

Tao can be talked about, but not the Eternal Tao.

Names can be named, but not the Eternal Name.

I also thought through years about this first Zhang. And now I can only assume from my experience that when you will reach Tao - you will not be able to explain it to the others who haven't reached it yet. But there is no other way for the beginners than starting from the words,, cause we cannot avoid it (words). Something beyond the mind and thoughts - that is Tao. Also I've heard that on the West it's common to specificate Tao in denial way: it's smth not ...and etc.
