  1. but I just find the level of external energy much greater in such a setting than say in a garage (sorry Mal ;)

That's o.k don't feel bad for me, my garage is pretty cool. I'm not stuck in a box suffering or anything :)

Just a roof to keep the sun off, a nice breeze, lots of birds and insects and a good enough view of the mountain. Peaceful.

In retrospect I have walked up mountains and down beaches to practice, it's beautiful when it just happens. But if I have to plan a trip to go somewhere to practice I often find an excuse to do something else instead :D

And yes old trees are excellent to hug.

  2. Another Donnie Darko fan here! And I watched it twice, and understood it better the second time

It gets better every time I watch it, the sort of movie you want to own DVD.

Sorry to break into the thread but if anybody has not seen this movie check it out :)

I also recall coming close to the "source" ... what i could best describe as pure, non-judgemental love. I was almost reunited when a deep sorrow pulled me back. i accepted that i was to become once again.

Thank you for sharing, my remaining "fear" of death is that I will forget everything and have to start from scratch again. I remember nothing of previous incarnations but I like to think I must have had a hard life because my current life is like living in the western paradise. Seriously I feel very lucky.

I have Tibetan Art of Living too, a good book.

  4. Any other Taoist thoughts on Death?

My partner believes that when we die that's it, end of story.

I believe that what a person believes in will happen to them :) Therefore her case is a bit depressing as I feel she will "loose" any progress made in this life and have to do it all over again (yes reincarnation is what I believe in) Now what I feel doesn't matter....... but this view of death makes her feel depressed / worried. At least at the moment as we have had a few friends die recently.

For me when I feel down I read "Heart Spoon Encouragement through Recollecting Impermanence" by Kyabje Pabongka Rinpoche which basically states you are dead for a long long long time so you had better practice hard while you still have the chance!

So anyone got any uplifting suggestions cause she hates the Heart Spoon Encouragement :)

Something that might encorage her to meditate would be nice too B)

  5. He hasn't responded yet but my guess is it's porbably best to stick to the Kunlun for the first months .As far as the sexual practice as far as I can tell Lama Dorje's advice in the book is the same as what Mantak Chia teaches, basically draw the energy up.

    Thanks Cam.

Agreed it's probably best to just do the Kunlun, but I once read that to miss a day of Chi Gung is like missing 10 days of practice! I'll be sticking with my chi gungs as long as I don't start to notice problems. I really don't thnik they will be any issues as there is no explicit direction of energy along pathways in the Chi Gungs that I do. I find I progress very slowly with these things so I expect to be doing level 1 for at least 6 mts

I've noticed something peculiar happening to me, and I'm wondering if it might be related to this whole Kunlun thing. Am signed up for the seminar, got the book, but haven't actually tried any of the meditations yet. Here's the thing: I'm happy for no reason in a way that feels oddly spiritual. Could it be that my spirit is picking up on the energy in advance, or am I just an especially wacky guy?

 You are just wacky

Actually I heard about a theory once on a TV show in the '90's, I think it was called Memonic Resonance.

It states that because person A has thought about subjext X its easier for person B to understand subject X even though person A & B can be on other sides of the world and have way to contact or communicate with each other.

So perhaps we ARE making the world a better place B)

  6. 1.my old bedroom (I brought my parents house and my old room is still basically set up the same, nice feel)

    2. the Garage

I think I like these as they are very close and easy to access :) I have a beautifull mountain (hill) within 10 min walk that has a view of the entire city, ocean and islands. But I've only ever made the walk once.

I'm not a nature person. While watching TV on the weekend I saw that the sky looked really pretty during the local football final so I went outside to check during an advertising break.

(yes it was a nice blue colour)

  7. So I would reccomend the book even if you can't make the workshop.

Cheers Cam, you deserve a commision for all your efforts B)

I've placed my order for the book, just went for the normal shiping option so I don't expect I'll be able to join in for a month or so ....

So don't post any spoilers :)

    Have Fun

  8.

Any locals at all experienced with Sailor Bob Adamson ? anyone actually checked out the guy in person? Any feedback ?

    Hi Cloud,

No usefull feedback, have not heard of Sailor Bob.

But if it makes you feel less isolated I'm looking for teachers in Townsville, North Queensland.

    hahahhahahahahahahahhahahahahaaaa........... err

  9.

As I have said before I know a couple of people who have been doing the 5 Tibetans

for at least 15 years and they are grey.

But are they bald? Mine can go as grey as it likes if it would just stay on my head, I look like Friar Tut with a pony tail :)

Would really prefer to try Tai Chi in the mornings, but I like doing T5T too and with its hair restoration / long life claims it seems silly not to do them.

  10. Mal, I highly recommend Daniel Odier's Tantric Quest. When you say that Tantra is "romantic" you are refering to western "neo-tantra". Mid life new agers have embraced Tantra as a way to spice up their relationships.

    Totally agree.

Daniel Oldier's books look intresting, cheers.

I see he also has :-

(2005) Yoga Spandakarika: The Sacred Texts at the Origins of Tantra by Daniel Odier

Sounds very intresting, I like translations of old texts. Possibility more up my ally than Tantric Quest.

    Thanks

  11. I'm one of those weird afternoon people, it gives me something to look forward to at the end of the day.

I just can't get a routine happening with morning practice, but I think that is because I stay up too late @ night and I need that extra snooze time. Everyday I try to get up early and do something and everyday I just hit snooze :)

  12. 1. I am wondering if I should try to learn how to transform the semen into vital essence energy as described in the book:

    Taoist yoga, alchemy and immortality

    2. Is this the best solution, or do I supplement my nurishment and excercise practices to increase the health and energy levels to withstand these regular functions which are resulting in these symptoms?

    3. Can there be a mental component I am missing, blocking, and/or not realising that can be causing these symptoms?

    1. If you are interested yes, but it would be a lot of hard work if you are only doing it "just" to fix your problem.

    2. Balancing food, exercise and sleep would IMHO help more. Remember an "average Jo" is able to ejaculate without problems.

    3. Do you worry about this? Trick question :) I find with any sexual performance issue there is sure to be a mental component involved, espicially if you are "worried". Fixing this can be time consuming so try to enjoy the process.

Different things work for different people, I would try the TCM person and see how you go.

  13. Things easy to grasp are more accessible that those one needs to look into more.

    musette

I guess, I alwasy found Tantra a bit "romantic" for me. The more mechanical "nuts and bolts" aspects of Taoism always appealed to me.

Anyhow as one of my friends loves to say-

    "It's all good"
