  1. Recently in the Astral projection troubles/blues thread a few members gave readings of each other and there was a bit of interest in creating a thread for such requests.

edit: Thank you for the assistance :)

N.B. - while it's easy to do, and receive, generic "newspaper zodiac" reading those asking to be read should be mindful that with accurate readings they might not actually "like" the answers they receive ... hopefully this thread won't devolve into arguments.

  2. if it is private members only then I wouldn't have a problem with using my real name.

A good point about private. I think it would be worth keeping such a forum off google (like the personal practice section)

My full first and last name only give 3 pages of hits. And I don't mind the forums and posts those hits return. My full first and last name with middle initial gives only one (a petition)

Full first middle & last returns nothing :)

  3. ^ That could be cool.

I'm pretty careful with what I post online, yet some of my favourite topics could be viewed as "embarrassing" to the general public.

I also deleted my personal practice forum posts before I had my surname added

    :)

  4. I mean that the 'therapeutic world' (more so the 'self-help' industry and forums;-)) is filled with people attempting to resolve other people's problems while their own largely remain unexamined and unresolved.

One reason why I didn't go into graduate study in psychology, had to fix myself first :-) Also in my early 20's I was mostly interested in myself rather than helping others.

  5. errr......I think i'm getting worse everyday although I manage to workout everyday and get other things done. I'm booking an appointment to see a councilor. I feel like crying everyday but nothing comes out. I applied to volunteer for an organization that helps people going through similar issues.

    Great Actions!

  6. LOL I'm still confused because there is so much to choose form :)

I always prefer the more simple, solid & oldest methods... I see soo much stuff that is just a variation of something else.

What would be the oldest most authentic form of qigong out there?

The most "beneficial" qigong is the one you DO

If you later find a "more authentic" / "better" version, AND the form you are practising (for some time) is not helping, then you can always give that one a go.

The only way to go "wrong" is not to start :)

  7. Thanks for all the comments guys.

I was hoping this discussion would go more in to a theoretical direction..

Anywayz thanks for all the input :)

    It's 99% practice :)

I like Ashtanga yoga for the effect the asana have on the physical body. But it's much more difficult to practice with injuries, I find tai chi more accessable to more people

  8. Does one scent appeal more than another? Do you prefer this flavor, or that feeling? Is your practice sacred and your work profane? Then your mind is separated: from itself, from oneness, from the Tao. Keep your mind free of divisions and distinctions. When your mind is detached, simple, quiet, then all things can exist in harmony, and you can begin to perceive the subtle truth.

The master said, "Kind prince, what do you think? When I was a pupil at my master*s side, did I learn anything that would make me feel sanctimonious?"

"No, Venerable Teacher, you learned nothing that would make you feel sanctimonious."

"Well then, kind prince, what do you think? Is the residence of the Universal One very sublime?"

"No, Venerable Teacher, where the Universal One resides cannot be defined in that manner. If it could be defined in that manner, it would not be the achievement of total integration which cannot be touched with a fragmented mind. Yet it may be called the Life of the Most Sublime. Therefore, one should keep one*s mind pure, simple, plain and untouched. One should not disintegrate one*s mind by creating dualistic concepts of different forms, sounds, smells, flavours, or anything else that fosters the illusion of separation. In order to reach complete integration, one must dedicate one*s being wholly to the integral truth."

"Tell me, kind prince," said the master, "if someone*s body were as big as the Mountain of Enormity, do you think his body would be

    very large?"

"It would be huge, Venerable Teacher. But why do you ask such a question?"

"Kind prince, the formless body of the integral truth is immeasurably vast, and yet it is also immeasurably small! Small and large are both conceivable, but can you cease thinking? The simple, natural reality is the same whether you think of it as large or small."

  9. Dr Lin's site http://www.actionlove.com/ is a nightmare to navigate, the CD is MUCH easier and really worth purchasing

ChiKong means Chi at work. ChiKong is a natural belly breathing technique that emulates baby breathing, with contracting the tail-bone muscle in each deep inhale. Old Taoists termed this technique as the Anal Breathing Method because the ChiKong practitioner can feel the anus inhaling Chi into the spinal cord or the Governing Vessel. To practice this technique, you have to focus your mind to your tail bone with semi-closed eyes, lightly contract the tail-bone muscle several times while slowly inhaling, and release the muscle while exhaling naturally. The tail-bone muscle acts a pump which drives the Chi into the spinal cord and the Governing Vessel over the anus from the first acupoint, CV-1, of the Conception Vessel. The major source of Chi is from the sexual energy center, the Ejaculation Control Valve or the Epicenter.

The Anal Breathing Method can be applied to driving the circulation of Chi along the Conception and Governing Vessels which forms a complete Chi cycle as described in the following figure. This is called the Microcosmic Cycling of Chi. You can practice the Microcosmic Cycling by the following steps:

    1. Focus your mind in the Third Eye, between two eyebrows and calm the mind with natural breathing.
    2. Descend the mind down to the CV-1 along the Conception Vessel while exhaling naturally.
    3. Lightly contract the tail-bone muscle several times while performing a slow inhale, ascend the mind along the spinal cord and the Governing Vessel at the end of each inhale, and finally return the mind back to the Third Eye.
    4. Repeat Steps 2 and 3 continuously.

That should all sound pretty familiar ;)

    Lin's Sexual ChiKong

    The Male procedures are:

    1. Calm the mind with naturally breathing for several minutes, partially close the eyes, put the tongue against the palate, focus the mind on the forehead between the eyebrows.
    2. Inhale air through the nose stepwise, expand the abdomen, as termed pumping and holding, in an interval of 2 - 5 seconds, for 8 to 20 times up to the maximum capacity of the lung, and move the mind down to the navel.
    3. Hold the breath, start to move the expanded abdomen downward by contracting the upper abdomen, as the pressure gradually builds up against the bladder and the prostate gland, and move the mind to the prostate gland area.
    4. Contract the anus and exhale air through the mouth slowly, while moving the mind slowly from the prostate gland area, along the spinal cord, up to the forehead.
    5. Repeat 2-4 several times.
    NOTE:

    1. In Step 4, a man should experience a hot energy flow rising up from the prostate gland area, along the spinal cord, to the head.
    2. During intercourse, Step 3 is the most important one; he should hold the breath as long as he can and apply pressure to the bladder and prostate gland area with a maximum contraction of the upper abdomen and a maximum expansion of the lower abdomen. It will knock down the sensitivity of the penis. After getting used to this breathing technique or getting older, he will no longer have to hold the maximum expansion of the lower abdomen eventually. Applying a small pressure to the bladder will give him a good control of ejaculation. In fact, if he is a well-trained ChiKong person, he can simply use the Anal Breathing Method to control ejaculation
    3. In intercourse, the step-by-step inhaling, with pulsing the bladder and/or the anus or rectum, should synchronize with the love thrusting.

    The female procedures are:

    1. Calm the mind with naturally breathing for several minutes, partially close the eyes, put the tongue against the palate, focus the mind on the navel area.
    2. Exhale air slowly through the mouth with expanding the abdomen and empty the lung completely, and move the mind up to the forehead between two eyebrows.
    3. Inhale air through the nose stepwise, also termed as pumping and holding, contract the upper abdomen and vagina/anus at the same time, in an interval of 2 - 5 seconds, for 5 to 15 times up to the maximum capacity of the lung, move the mind from the forehead along the spinal cord down to the vagina area.
    4. Hold a maximum contraction of the vagina/anus for 10 - 100 seconds.
    5. Repeat 2-4 several times.
    NOTE:

    1. In Step 3, the woman will feel an energy flow go downward along the spinal cord to the vagina area.
    2. During intercourse, Step 4 is the most important one to bring the sensitivity of the vagina to the maximum that breaks the orgasmic barrier, so that she will start to experience a hot energy flow moving upward from her sex organs through her chest to her forehead.
    3. In intercourse, the step-by-step inhaling, with periodically contracting the vagina, should synchronize with the love thrusting, until she is approaching to the orgasmic barrier where she should change to Step 4.

I would not recommend attempting to teach a partner "anal breathing" unless you want to end up with a night of solo practice (It's not a user friendly name  but he also teaches a great method that's called "finger pliers" You can tell he is a Dr of engineering) I mainly included the sexual chikung part as you should recognize the orbits and a breathing technique you may have already discovered (just use it a bit earlier)

  10. Mal - I've tried to dig up Lin's anal breathing method, but I can't help feeling like I'm missing something. Is it just using the anal/tailbone muscles to perform the same function as the big draw, while leaving the PC muscles relaxed?

Unfortunately the best compilation was on Trunk's site, which is now off line http://thetaobums.com/topic/316-lins-links/?p=1964

    :(

I have not "read it" for a while , but basically "the big draw" (no forcing) is correct as we are attempting to describe something the body can do, hence there are many descriptions. When you are doing orbits you are doing this IMO. When aroused the energy naturally wants to go forward and out, you can guide it back and up (with whatever method works for you)

This is getting into extraordinary sex rather than convectional :) but have you ever tried to run your partners orbit? I don't use any yogic contortions yet I've found most are really sensitive to this and can feel it. Another easy one is giving from your groin to hers and receiving from her heart to yours. "Practicing the correct method" is IMO distracting, paying attention and feeling what you both feel and exploring together is more enjoyable.

  11. The fact that my life has gone to shit??

I DONT GIVE A FUCK ABOUT A PATH, ITS DONE NOTHING BUT DESTROY MY LIFE AND MAKE ME THIS SOULLESS INSIGHTFUL SHELL OF A HUMAN.

Im fucking 24, I was in jail in my early 20s, I tried getting back on track the next couple years and now I'm dealing with this bullshit. Where the fuck are the best years of my life, wheres my college parties, wheres my nightlife, wheres my romantic evenings, where is everything.

Willing to listen, even without a K experience, you are dealing with high stress issues over a sustained period of time i.e job loss to now - loss of housing. That often (almost always) leads to depression :-

In actual clinical practice, this cause of depression is seen more often than sudden loss. This type of depression creeps up on you. When this type of depression is experienced, the patient offers comments such as: "I don't know what's wrong!" "I don't know how I feel." "My feelings are numb."

While you probably won't believe this video at the moment(and that's understandable because are the moment you are NOT happy) it is correct

This is an amazing talk from ted.com:

Dan Gilbert: Why are we happy

Essentially the main message is that when we are given a choise, that we cannot change, we are going eventually to be more happy than if in the choise we could change the result at any time.

It also shows how most of the events that happen to us REALLY MAKE no difference to our level of happiness.

Now according to traditional taoism (as was teached to me), 99% of the events that happen to us do not matter, and only very few, say 1%, matters. Funny that Taoism got it right, in a topic which is so counter intuitive.

Bolds mine, quote from TTB thread Most Events that Happen to us do not Matter! An amazing talk by TED

    A question?

Is there anything you can do to help your parents with the housing issue?

    If there is

try it, no matter how "out there" or what you currently "feel" about it's chance of working. Just do it.

    If there isn't

then it is not your fault, and there is NOTHING "wrong" with you feeling how you feel.

  12. I've never heard of people physically holding back ejaculation itself with the PC muscles, but based on my admittedly limited knowledge of anatomy, I feel like that's what happened there.

I agree. That sounds like what happened and what you described, especially the breathing, is the way to do that (as you know from Experiencing it ) I actually thought I'd read that method in a Chia book. It's muscular control doing the same thing as the finger lock. Could have also been a retrograde ejaculation (ej into the bladder, urination then contains sperm, but you didn't experience that)

As you were not trying to do this (it just happened) should not be a big issue but probably not something you want to "practice"

Have a look at dr lin anal breathing if you can,I found it very useful (he is also focused on learning to give your partner awesome orgasms) But basically I'd keep trying to"ride the wave" as you say and allow the energy to flow up when you are resting on the crest of the wave and if you do go past the point of no return, just accept that and enjoy the "wipe out" with your partner without guilt

(You can always try again later & practice makes perfect ;) )

  13. I just want my creativity back, a girlfriend and to help out others when I can. Maybe even a job.

I don't have any advice either. I've spent all day lying in bed just waiting for the time to pass so that I could (try) to sleep through the night. Just wanting to get that day "finished" .... then repeat repeat repeat. Felt like a totally pointless existence. If I knew an easy way to fix that I'd let you know... I've also filled my day with activities like Yoga, meditation, Tai Chi, music ... and felt EXACTLY the same.

At least working eats up the "time" so getting a job may help you. A girlfriend may give you something to look forward to, as well as a friend to spend time with. Helping others could be the easiest way to start (volunteering) and you give benefits that help towards getting a job and meeting friends. Currently you probably don't feel motivated to "try" any of that, I often didn't and it's really hard when you feel "I don't want to do that" yet know that you have to fight and force yourself to do it anyhow.

I'm glad you shared this on TTB it made me feel ... well worse actually as I have a job GF and am somewhat creative yet I often feel despondent :lol:and I like your mechanic analogy, especially because it's a bit of a joke that mechanics often have the worst running car that's in constant need of attention and repair.

ok a tiny bit of advice, I've got this pinned on my wall at work

  14. The ego is a monkey catapulting through the jungle: Totally fascinated by the realm of the senses, it swings from one desire to the next, one conflict to the next, one self-centered idea to the next. If you threaten it, it actually fears for its life. Let this monkey go. Let the senses go. Let desires go. Let conflicts go. Let ideas go. Let the fiction of life and death go. Just remain in the center, watching. And then forget that you are there.

"Kind prince," said the master, "suppose a person cuts himself loose from being fooled by the senses. Can he then become attached to the fruits of his enlightenment?"

"No, Venerable Teacher. The one who has succeeded in cutting himself loose from the attachment of the senses cannot then fasten himself to what he has attained. To do so would be to return to the enslavement of the senses, and the reign of the ego would ruin what he has attained. Therefore, one cannot hold any idea in the mind about what one has attained."

"What do you think, kind prince? Suppose a person discovers that his life has been a ceaseless pattern of coming and going. Suppose further that he decides to make this journey his last and sets out to accomplish the final purification in order to live forever in the Realm of Universal Life. Can he become attached to the idea of the culmination of his final journey?"

"No, he cannot, Venerable Teacher. The one who discovers that life is a phenomenon of coming and going also discovers that there is no such

thing as coming and going at the root of integral life. How, then, could he become attached to what is called the last journey of life?"

"Then, kind prince, what do you think? Can one who has achieved the state of desireless happiness presume to have reached the state of desirelessness? Or can one who has transcended life and death to enjoy the Universal Way be happy about his attainment?"

"No, Venerable Teacher. One who has already attained the final transcendence would not think of having transcended life and death. The concepts of life and death would only trap him again in the bondage of duality with its mental framework of self and others, longevity and brevity, life and death.

"Venerable Teacher, you have attested that I have purified myself so thoroughly that no desire or conflict remain and that I have attained the highest possible level of virtue. Yet I never think about having no desires. Because I do not hold anything particular in my mind, I am on the Universal Integral Way. To be completely desireless is to achieve the happiness of agelessness; it is the way of transcendental bliss."

  15. Quite enjoyable and good to see Kumare was able to make a "positive" difference for most of his disciples.

It was pretty scary at the end wondering how they were going to react to the unveiling ... now I'm off to practice some blue light meditation

  16. He who desires the admiration of the world will do well to amass a great fortune and then give it away. The world will respond with admiration in proportion to the size of his treasure. Of course, this is meaningless. Stop striving after admiration. Place your esteem on the Tao. Live in accord with it, share with others the teachings that lead to it, and you will be immersed in the blessings that flow from it.

    Walker's HHC 9

    http://brianbrownewalker.com/hua-hu-ching/

"What do you think, kind prince?" asked the master. "Suppose a person amasses a worldly treasure and then gives it all away to those in need. According to the universal law of energy response, will he derive blessings in proportion to the treasure he gives away?"

"Yes, Venerable Teacher, there will be abundant blessings derived from this."

"Kind prince, if someone cherishes the guidance of these teachings, uses it to instruct others and serve them selflessly, the blessings of this person will be far greater than those of the former. Why is this?"

"Venerable teacher, if one amasses wealth and gives it away in the hope of receiving blessings, he earns his blessings by striving and therefore struggles with the duality of the mental realm. The one who practices the universal way and then guides others gives spontaneously whatever he has, simply because it is his nature to do so; thus he derives his blessings through non-action and never deviates from the Universal Way."

"Kind prince, true blessings and impersonal love are beyond the concept of measurement. When we start to be concerned about blessings, they cease to be blessings."
