  1. An Altar for Sree

Ha ha ha! Yes! I should say a pink pacifier should be on that altar as well. Sree expertise seems to be putting words into others mouth, words conveniently like straw dogs of his creation that he then loved to pull down. What he said of me amused me. You sound defeated...like a guy badly burnt by his one-sided love for a woman who does not reciprocate. In some cases, the beloved woman is not aware of her admirer's affection. But the Tao knows, and it treats devoted Daoists like straw dogs meant for the fires of Daoist Hell. The amount of innuendoes that he can craft into a few sentences above? No doubt to make himself wiserest than all others. I was on the verge of chucking him into my ignore bin. I seen enough to do that and not waste anymore time. Let him be contented with his bowl of stagnant water, a bowl of rotten fruit and a statue of himself, together with his pink pacifier. Idiot on the Path
  2. Forsake knowledge

So should one compete on being wise and wiser and wiserest? Or even should one be more philosophical and philosophicalrest that thou? Being wiserest and philosophicalrest and hone the pacifiicer with greatest exactness, will the folks benefit more? I think the folks will do bestest in laughing at the wiserest and go have a beer or a nice brew of tea. Taking any yardstick meant that yardstick is good only as yardstick and nothing else. Americans kept increasing body counts in the Vietnam War, and I think they lost the war. Bonus galore given to CEOs and Bankers until we the common man got to go bail them out (they kept the bonuses) Sorry...excuse me... I am just the bloody idiot who know not the wonderous philosophical expertise professed by those who love to dance on soapboxes in crafting the bestest and most impressive of altars. Taoistic Idiot
  3. An Altar for Sree

Ever since that Taoist Immortal I met one rainswept day in a small town of North Taiwan told me Be happy and do not worry , I took what he said to heart. Prior that, I thought I faced death in a couple of my episodes in checking out sunrises and sunsets. Obviously I was wrong or I would not be writing to you. Perception of life became very different and life/death boundary is but a step away. I have time for people in despair and sad that they know they need not grief alone, but no time for those who felt it upon them to inflict sadness and despair. Life is short enough to enjoy all you can. In times of my tragedies (that can be seen in my blog), I reflected on what happened like in Beslan occuring then and decided I be thankful that did not happen in my community. I am very wary at those with righteous views and thoughts as if those have power that I am glad they did not have, they will impose their views on everyone else as of course, they and they alone are pure and incorruptable. Suicide bombers came from such groups. And on Tao that cannot be defined, such person are going to define that for everyone else. But to each their own. Happiness for those that be happy, contentment for those that are contented and sadness for those that yearned to be sad. Taoistic Idiot
  4. An Altar for Sree

Now , that together with Wulung tea and laughter and stories will always be a good thing to share. The Tao that I think I know has loads and loads of room for that. My Tao has happiness and hope for all, and pacifiers of all shapes and sizes. Only if you are sad, and want to have something to make you more sad, you will not find that in my Tao. Idiotic Taoist
  5. An Altar for Sree

I think this is going the way of our debates here on what is the Tao or even what a Taoist is. We gave up and have a nice cup of Wulung tea instead. Splitting the Tao , be that the philosophical, or religious , or New, or Classical and narrowing the focus of the Tao might help, or might not help. Tao is all of that, and more. Focusing might well give a more congenial pacifier for those that need pacifiers. I being greedy, I want the Tao in all shapes and sizes and every kind. After all, the Tao of yesterday is different from the Tao of today and will be different from the Tao of tomorrow as sure as yesterday and today and tomorrow will always be different. As in Taoist temples, or on altars, it might be better to have an iconic representative, be that Kuan Kong, or Lu DongBin or YingYang symbol as a focus of devotion. Or a rose, or even a pat of cowdung , or a pink pacifier, as all have the Tao in them. A lot easier and more obtainable than imagining what cannot be imagine, or even named. Maybe early peasants knew a lot more than a Doctor of Philosophy in just getting on with it and doing it instead of arguing ad infinitum in a Taoist forum. Idiotic Taoist

  9. An Altar for Sree

Well, I truly have nothing better to do and was/will be continuing my search for the Tao. I reported back a few times here that my search was futile, and even if I found the Tao, I was not sure how the Tao looks like to be able to recognise and report that I found it. Currently I am on another of such search for the Tao as that grey ox discharged me in Lumut to let me change to an ox that can go on water landing me on the island of Pangkor where dozens of hornbills flew about. There were also 2 Taoist temples, or rather, a Taoist shrine and a bigger Taoist temple. I will be uploading photos of the altars there that folks here be amused. The gateway of the Taoist shrine had a human size Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck on the other side of gateway up the shrine. Shortly after that, a topless mermaid statue will greet you. And in the bigger Taoist temple, you think you entered a film set of Hongkong martial arts movie. Also with two funky cartoon characters greeting you at the entrance. Followed by multiples of altars in the temple, around the temple and alongside of the temple. Who are we to say what is right or wrong? If little kids think Santa came into the chimney to hand out presents , it will be a very mean person to insist to the kids the presents were bought in AToyRus shop. Why dispel the magic of their dreams? Is truth all that important? Will the kids grow up and die believing in Santa because they were not told? When we all know that in time, the kids will know without having to tell them. Do we go tut tut with our nose in air proud of our superiority kids believing in Santa and over Taoist monks of temples that cater to folks with religious rites for those that want to believe that way? Fine if you think pride is essential for one to know the Tao. Then you get the Tao that you deserve to get. Maybe the Tao can only be found if we can laugh and can joke about it. Those looking seriously for Tao, or even for the altar of Tao, might have better luck if they do that with a dose of humour. Even if Tao not found, laughter cannot be very wrong either. More likely the more you look for that, the more you are not going to find it. And is the need to look for that meaningful when you are part of it around you and within you. Taoistic Idiot
  11. Home Taoist Altar

My altar in the past will always have the gift to me from my Taoist Immortal I met on a rain swept road in Taiwan. Fragments of earlier memories of Taiwanhttp://shanlung.livejournal.com/111670.html And an incense burner. That altar good for when I got off the right side of bed and becoming a religious Taoist or if I got off the other side and becoming a philosophical Taoist for the day. Like the YingYang, very changeable for me. That ended , together with taijichuan, with the entry of Tinkerbell into my life. Incense smoke not good for her so no more incense. Cigge smoke probably a lot worse but could not shake that addiction then. Milofor altar became the red silk bag that kept him and into my backpack. Idiotic Taoist

Dump him into the ignore bin. Blissful place where he can cast pearls without any aggravation
  13. Taoist Monasticism in China Today

I feel pained. Yet another big earthquake hit Szechuan yesterday. At LuShan, about 80 km from ChingChengShan. I guess whatever temples rebuilt there went down. Maybe with the karoke bars. Idiotic Taoist
  14. Taijiquan Styles

In 1993 when I was about as good as I could be in taijichuan, I was on a walkabout on the island of Koh Phagnan off the Southern coast of Thailand. I saw posters about on Taijichuan classes being taught by a taichi master. I had to ride on my bike and hunted down that place. Saw that was a Caucasian in his mid 20s living in a Thai house all ready to teach taijichuan. He married a local thai. We started chatting. I told him I was interested in taijichuan, leaving out my background as irrelevant. I was there to learn of him and not he to learn of me. He proudly told me he finished the course of Yang jia taijichuan in Penang with an hour lesson twice week, taking about 6 months. He also showed me a pile of taichi books that he was reading, with another pile of video tapes on taichichuan. I asked him if he did tuishou in Penang and he told me his master there did not know tuishou but he picked that up from books. He told me his master thought he was good enough to open a taijischool after 3-4 more months there with him. I got an earful of taijichuan and Tao from him. Everything came from the Tao. Roses , cowdung and a host of other things came from the Tao. So why not taijichuan? Even more so when the symbol for taijichuan is the YingYang sign? Since I also had a glass of cold water from him, I let him go on and on. Sadly that is about the state of taijichuan. Lots of masters and charlatans teaching more tiny masters and charlatans. To wave and move arms and legs slowly will magically put you to feel the chi forces of the world and to tap on those energies. Not knowing taijichuan, they created a world of chi running all over here and there, mixing up with taoism and fantasy and telling that one be at peace in the world and love all (to make sure they got cast in stone excuses that they need never have to show their Immortal Imcomparable Fist) How to tell him that I was a mere student after years and years and not as elevated as he being a master. Perhaps he was wiser than me, and his twice weekly dose of taijichuan from someone who do not know how to tuishou was a lot better than my daily 6++ hours and with Masters that fajing me all over. I felt we did not even have a common ground in which I could talk with him. Hands on with me would just embarrased him and I saw no need for me to be a self declared policeman as to purity of taijichuan. Beside, he was a nice chap and did give me a glass of water unasked . Just an interesting education for me as to the other facets of the world of taijichuan. I thank him for the glass of water, said I think about his classes, and rode off back that road to a place where I knew I could get a nice cold Singha beer and watch the rest of the world go by. Idiot on the Path
  15. Nice thread to round up those that belong into my ignore bin. My view of things will get a lot more pleasant.
  16. Horse can be brought to the water. If the horse do not drink, I let the horse die of thirst as that horse is destined to die of thirst.. It might well be said Western boxing is Zen. And the Tao is in the Taliban who ignite his suicide vest in a market place as nowhere the Tao will not be. The more less one knows, the more he felt he is right. Yes. pointless to argue on the Internet with a fool. He drag you down to his level and beat you to death with his lifelong experiences as a bloody fool. I will be chucking Silas into my ignore bin. Taoistic Idiot
  17. HA HA HA HA HO HO HO HO HEE HEE HE HEE HEE ROFLMAO! The best way to teach a fool is to let the fool do it his own way. Go on! Do it which ever way you want to! Not one of the Masters I had the fortune to be under in taijichuan ever told me taijichuan is Taoism. Almost all the tiny masters and charlatans I known waving arms and legs slowly pretending the chi runs here and runs there knowing nothing at all of taijichuan talked of taiji and Taoism. Weaving rubbish with their fantasies with their students panting for more and more! HA HA HA HEE HEE HEE Idiotic Taoist
  18. Silas, I know you do not know taijichuan, or you be asking me a lot lot more on taijichuan earlier. In what form is taijichuan related to taoism? Symbols? If so, is Buddhism National Socialism? they used the same symbols , never mind if it point to the right or left. I was a student directly under ChenXiaoWang. For about a period of 2 years or so when he came to SIngapore. Never once we heard him talked of Taoism. Talking of Ying Yang in context of Taijichuan had little to do with Taoism. Talking of mechanics of mind in martial taijichuan had little to do with Taoism. Talking of fighting and meeting of challenges had little to do with Taoism. Even away from the dojo and in restaurants and bars where we love to treat CXW, never did he talked of Taoism. I think he never was bothered with Taoism. In his youtube appearances , never seen or heard him talked about Taoism either. In what context has ChenXiaoWang been posturing himself as a Taoist expert? Have you seen that? if so, I like you to give the links to me for me to go have a look. Is that him or his marketing agent becoming too enthusiastic and more interested in increasing his cut by flogging poor CXW in all kinds of forms? Take care not to extend what is in your mind to other unrelated issues and force a relationship where none existed. Idiotic Taoist
  19. What principles do all Taoists hold in common?

Chan, or Zen Buddhism is Buddhism wrapped with the essence of Taoism. Or Taoism wrapped with the images of Buddhism. Or as I said before in attempt to explain Taoism to others who never heard of Taoism before, Taoism is the Zen in Zen Buddhism. Taoistic Idiot
  20. Chen XiaoWang is the acknowledged GrandMaster(JangMengPai) and lineage transmitter of Chen Jia Taijichuan. Nothing like the business of teaching as known in the West where rubbish are taught as a business. What has that to do with truly practice of Taoist religion? Tell us first what do you deem as true practice? An innuendo that you the authority on what is true? You some kind of GrandExpert? So much of a GrandExpert that you cannot differentiate taijichuan and Taoism? Tell us what you know of Taijichaun and Taoism. Idiotic Taoist

Do what I have done. Ignore bin is the best place for that kind
  23. What principles do all Taoists hold in common?

Taoism was already old before Gautama was even conceived from the lust in his fathers heart. Let us hold aside that he was many incarnates or that will never end. As before he came about, nothing was written on Buddhism. So how Buddhism can go on to influence Taoism is kind of strange. I am not talking of images in Taoist temples. The Taoist monks got to eat. And they are not wiling as so many Christians and their priests, to go denigrate and insult other faiths. Idiot on the Path
  24. What principles do all Taoists hold in common?

I know. Show me those words before they dissolved prior to their births. I think it is more gainful to have and enjoy a good brew of Wulung tea. and easier to talk of how your face look like before the lust entered your fathers heart and the gleam of your mother's eye. The Taoistic Idiot
  25. What principles do all Taoists hold in common?

HA HA HA HA HAHA HA HAAAA!!! I know the words and I know the Tao. But being an Idiot, I just cannot put them together in a coherent way to impart what I do know to all of you. Idiotic Taoist
