  3. Intellectualizing is fun, and we'll never tire of the infinite (or otherwise, who cares we'll never get close) possibilities. Can we reduce everything to Yes/No? 1/0? Or how about "Maybe". I think the beauty of this reality is that we can believe anything we want, and it might not change anything, or it could instantly change everything and we will never know it. I always thought the point was to let go of the concepts and live in the moment. The benefit of a widely accepted model of interdependence is how well we treat each-other and how much love we are willing to express without the paranoia that the ones you love are computer robots. We are a flesh and blood organism, and our world will always be a mystery, celebrate!

  5. Religion is the poison of Spirituality

I agree. I see this idea as part of a basic foundation for going deeper with anything. Fear and regret are both huge obstacles, and not tied with the present. I could go to church Sunday morning, of a religion that I almost entirely disagree with, and I could learn something about myself, and the world. While I see no reason to fear ideas, I do see reason to influence them and to let them influence me and challenge my perception.

Eat around the worms. Chew well and taste for impurities. Say thank you if it nourishes you for a few hours of searching for your path. Take the seeds and plant your own apple tree. Don't rely on the old woman/witches apples. Learn something new if she makes you sick.

Those colors are soooooo Pleistocene .....
  8. Humans evolved away from their natural being. How intelligent is that? Think about how disconnected you are from your own survival even compared with pre-industrial revolution humans, let alone hunter gatherers. Maybe humans are the only speices that struggles with spirituality. If we could use energy to it's potential would we have learned to speak to eachother? We have so much else going on with social norms and technology that we have not evolved to use, that we can barely cope with our natural urges. In repressing most of our urges to mold ourselves into a society, we are forced to compartmentalize our spirit. Does a bird have to do this? It just lives; it will never intellecualize the soul, because her earthly life embodies it from start to finish.

Take the witches apple and go your own way?
  10. ^ Yeah that sounds about right. If you feel you need something more, go for it. A lot of athletes I know build a lot of energy just being active and clean, but they often lack a relaxation practice and store a lot of tension during their workouts. Thanks for your report on SFQ. I have yet to experience anything more than being able to feel like I melt into the fabric of the universe more readily. I also am not very disciplined. Chunyi seems like a really cool and genuine teacher. I don't pretend I can sense peoples vibrations who I've never met, but I like everything he says and I like to avoid egoistic teachers. I was never as involved with spiritual practices when I was making a lot of art. I focus mostly on music now and I can say that I write different music after yoga. SFQ could probably help me develop more patience in my craft, and I definitely need to cultivate space in my timing and become more methodical. Keep us posted when you find something that clicks.

RE: the Simon Parkes interview I just watched the first section. What do you think after watching several times?
  12. The false problem of species extinction

I'm familiar with the history of AIDS and the role of the Catholic church during the beginning. Is there something else I am unfamiliar with that would constitute a scam? There have been some interesting responses to this- it veered off topic nicely and no one is being rude. I like this forum again. I am an ecologist in training, and I've worked with species that had been made functionally extinct by human behavior and then brought back from edge. There is definitely a need to prioritize where we push resources based on ecosystem viability, but we as humans are responsible for our destruction whether we are dealing with a keystone species or not. The issue I see most is the result of "innocent until proven guilty" environmental policy, and the fact that by the time a population is noticeably reduced, the motion toward extinction is already in effect.
  13. This is the only MCO meditation I do. Now you have me worried. Can you explain this a bit more?

That must be some strong cake.
  15. I just typed a response and then lost it, but the main point was that sometimes basic physical exercise is all I need to get back into the spiritual stuff. I am able to complete the SFQ exercises without getting bored if I go for a run, or do an upper body workout first. Sometimes I just need to take a day off from spiritual practice and go hiking or go for a run. (although I will usually end up meditating at some point on a hike) I know some will disagree, but being a creative person myself, I have a difficult time with routine. I now attend a yoga studio that does power yoga type classes, which I consider to be a good workout and physical opener. I then supplement that with Kundalini Pranayama, or various safe Taoist practices like the Small Universe, and Inner Smile or a simple standing meditation. I try not to do Intense Yoga and SFQ on the same day.

I also feel blessed to have this life of relative comfort. I appreciate the OPs ability to be over the top, which is humorously cynical.

Woah man that sounds like nasty stuff. I think I took some of that a few times when I was younger. Are you sure that what you are experiencing is a "deep meditative state"? Have you been into a deep meditative state without drugs? Just curious.
  23. Thanks for sharing, I like his poetry a lot. Any source online for more? Also, you know how to advertise a thread.

I am going to eat a burrito. A BURRITO! I think it's okay to enjoy life with wide open eyes. Yes, the suffering in the world makes us all sad. It is everywhere, even in rich cultures there is a prevailing sickness.
