  1. Consensus on the details of zhan zhuang posture

Yea I'm unsure about CK Chu since he says to make the body round.. ie the back is rounded and not straight. You're bending forward at the hip and with a hump back...
  2. Consensus on the details of zhan zhuang posture

I think it might have been a misinterpretation to "stand on the heels". I think he meant more to stand so that there isn't too much weight over Yong Quan.
  3. Global Revolution!

Well... you may be right about the liberty thing. Actually my friendo says anything that is built upon the desire for material things (which the country really IS about) is going to become corrupt and that's why we have capitalism vs communism where ideally they should work out in theory but then they don't. Nothing else has come up as much as capitalism vs communism. He says if we were to all be "jnanis", only then the right "ism" rise. Maybe even totalitarianism, who knows any "ism" might even work if everyone were jnanis. In fact the only thing we should really be "seeking" is "internal change". But even seeking anything might lead to disappointment. Seeking any kind of pleasure even if "spiritual pleasure", it's all still part of the illusion. Of course someone can say that we are here because of "ALIEMS" that came and abducted us, or we also have loopholes that let these "aliems" come and do their thing with us. We still have to work on ourselves. Now onto what I think... To be honest with you.. I was a high school drop out and I don't know anything about how this current government works nor any other kind of government and I don't know how to get the things "done" which you speak of. In fact anything social or formal about this society I don't really have a knack for either due to my upbringing. I think that anything done "within" the system is eventually not going to go anywhere because "they" set it up so nobody with a real purpose can succeed. If it hasn't been done yet it's because the only real way is the unconventional way. So when people tell me or the rest of Americans that we're ALL just lazy, and we conjure up all these emotions and feelings with a call to "JUST GET UP AND DO IT".. I have to ask "well do what?" and of course the answer then will be "just get up off your ass!" Hahaha. So what I'm trying to say then.. is an speech that is just a message to get any americans to "get up off their asses and do WHATEVER" is not going to help very many of them. Just because I, like many Americans don't know how to get things done within this judicial system. Now I may be a special case and I don't have any "common sense", but that may just be me. Or what, the whole society is just waiting on little ol me to do everything. We are all kept on a hamster wheel of jobs, taking care of all the expenses this life would give us and more, just because of money. We work for money not for survival. It's not a natural way of life. And yea most Americans don't care, but many don't even have the time to care. So... is there really a way to get the right things done within our current system? and if so how? Do we have to go to law school, do we have to read through all the JUNK our government gives us to confuse us in all their documents, don't we have to go through some bureaucracy?
  4. Global Revolution!

My friend and I are not sure of this Occupy movement. He really seems to think it's another front of the "Illuminati" and in the end anything that falls short of a REAL uprising perhaps violent but needing strategy of course, mass enlightenment and boycotting, it'll all really fall into the hands of the "evil powers that be" or the "illuminati". The best things for us to do is try to Live Off the Grid. What that means is not just physically but even being spiritual, cultivating, practicing brahmacharya, yoga, living vegan, living self sustainably are all steps to living off the grid and boycotting, etc. In his opinion protesting doesn't do anything, but neither does total peace like Ghandhi. I mean these are not In and Of themselves THE things that will stop anything. Need to look at it holistically. The whole "namaste" crowd of higher than thou folks, so high that also they won't act if necessary to "keep the peace".. and also to judge those who aren't part of the "in" crowd of the "light and love" they claim. That's also part of the illusion, just as much as being on the other end of the extreme. Don't get me wrong though it's all done in love and love still is "all we need" Anyway... onto my point... my friend thinks the occupy movement seems to be a front for Obama to further his socialist/communist agenda without letting people know. It can also end up in violence and martial law but it seems to have died down in intensity. I even saw.. people within the socialist/communist party and white supremacists and KKK all supported this Occupy movement. Obama himself made the statement that the American people need to mobilize. So Obama seems to be in on this. Maybe one day.. as a "result" of the chaos either Obama or the next coming president will set things up for the future development of the New World Order just before the shit hits the fan. At least thats the "theory"...
  5. My first full lotus experiences

also.. friend says the Bound Lotus is the true lotus posture. the "original" or classical way as it is described in the upanishads. it closes the circuit of energy. "it removes fear of disease.. u'll know that u have it right when u are able to transport your attention comfortable, and where you can remain in it comfortably for at least half an hour " lol but he's hardore into the hindu stuff. he says asanas shouldn't even be practiced if you aren't a highly ethical person and you should complete the first 3 limbs of the 8 limbed yoga.
  6. My first full lotus experiences

I know one thing is for sure... just sitting in lotus makes me feel better. it's like I get a shot of dopamine or something... but it's originating from the legs.. the posture.. and goes up and effects my mood. although sometimes it doesn't feel "natural" maybe it takes time to get used to. It's the same with some of the raw foods I eat.. it'll just make me feel better and lift a depression but perhaps because the depression is my "normal state" the "care-free" state seems kind of foreign and unnatural but also perhaps more like I am holding in(!) emotions and not expressing them. Kinda like repression?
  7. My first full lotus experiences

so you're saying that holding the pc muscle flexed in lotus is only for women? or can men also do the same? She wasn't really differentiating between men or woman when she told us.
  8. My first full lotus experiences

Over here a Chinese medium was talking about "tai yi guiding art". I only went to the first 3.. I missed the last one but I wasn't even sure there was a last class. I thought it would just be review of what's basically a program of either standing or full lotus meditation for 30 mins a day and doing a form of "patting" qigong which supposedly quides qi. Anyway the main point is that she suggested that after meditation either in standing or sitting that one hold mulah bandha or more like tibetan number 6 for about a minute to 3 minutes? I forgot if it was a minute or two. And the breath is natural, not held in like tibetan number 6. Also the hands are on the lower abdomen holding it up. She says that if one doesn't do that all the benefits of the practice is pretty much a waste or is at least not as effective. The other odd thing she mentioned is that in the lotus meditation one should hold mulah bandha all throughout, and at the end really hold it and really forcefully try to suck in and up the lower abdomen with the hands over them holding it up for about a minute to 3 minutes. She says this ensures you get all the spiritual benefits of the meditation.
  9. My first full lotus experiences

I sat in lotus for an hr the other day... not in "meditation" though. Im regularly also sitting in lotus now.
  10. vegan & being full.

Feeling "full" doesn't tell you that you're satisfied. It is probably habitual to feel full and associate it with satisfaction. Besides that yea maybe you're lacking in some nutrients. Quality fats come from nuts and seeds with an emphasis on the omega 3s from flax or chia seeds. There have been studies that show vegans who don't consume fish make up for the lack of DHA by converting it more efficiently from ALA. Also know that the optimal ratio of omega 3s to 6 is 1:4-1:1 to ensure that you will be producing enough DHA from ALA. Just taking ALA is not enough, it needs to be within the optimal ratio. it also helps to get polyunsaturated fats which will not disturb that omega 3 to 6 ratio enough. I find that the argument "vegans cannot get quality fats" and that "nuts/seeds are bad because of excess omega 6s" is actually not entirely true. Yes, the ratio of omega 3s to 6s in most nuts and seeds are not optimal, but it really matters the quantity of the omega 6s that we consume in relation to omega 3s from any other source. FOr example.... if you consume 4 tblsp day of soaked flaxseeds or 5 of chia seeds you can have up to a cup and a quarter of seeds such as sunflower seeds which have the highest amount of omega 6 of any other seed. As for the other one that contains quite a bit of omega 6 is the walnut... and you can have more than 1.25 cups of it without going over the optimal ratio of omega 3-6 intake ratio. Carbs.. make sure you get enough carbs... but I'm on a low carb vegan diet. Actually... I read somewhere that higher fat diets curb cravings because the fat acts as a buffer making carbs slower to digest, and also if you consume less sugars and rely more on fats for energy you won't get sugar cravings. Also I forgot to note that if you're not digesting the nuts/seeds well they should be soaked in water overnight with some natural salt. In nature nuts/seeds have a much higher water content than the dried forms found in markets. So this pre-sprouts then making them easier to digest and with higher nutritional value. Nuts and seeds as well as greens and greens powders, and sprouts are good sources of protein. keep in mind though that when it comes to getting the protein from veggies I mean in terms of eating lots of the greens/sprouts. Ie one serving of greens powder has about 2-3 g of protein. If you take more than one serving it adds up. Also... I don't think high protein intake is necessary. I aim for about 30-50g of quality digestible protein. Not much you say eh? Well I've read otherwise, and Im not suffering any loss of muscle unless I of course just stop exercising.
  11. Open your heart, change your world

well I found he said the word "God" too many times as I myself don't know yet just what "God" is or isn't.. and is just a word that can be considered vague as there are many "interpretations" also..
  12. Clearing heart fire and sexual energy

You know... It might be that when you retain for longer periods of time your body is accustomed to emitting infrequently such that when you do finally emit you are probably weaker for longer periods of time or more intensely? This is because your body has not built up the resistance to say emitting twice a week or more. Your body hasn't developed the mitochondria in that area for the greater energetic capacity. Or like ... fullotus has said before.. the more jing you accumulate the more jing you will lose when you finally do emit. So.. perhaps many of the fears of losing jing with ejaculation or vital essence may be something to do with this. It's possible that a body could have been ejaculating infrequently and when it did there was a noticable energy loss compared to say a person who was also doing it more frequently (yet not considered excessively) and the body had already become immune to such losses everyday. it can also be partially diet related. Omega 3s have been known to be very important for sexual functions and recovery after emissions. Omega 3s, short-medium chain fatty acids, protein, and fructose are all very important. Getting some kind of prebiotic also helps in the production of medium and short chain fatty acids along with probiotics, in the body. Then there is also health saturated fats (with medium and short chain fatty acids) in coconut oil, which help you make DHA/EPA in the liver when consumed with omega 3s. Seaweed does the same but has no fat on it's own.
  13. Clearing heart fire and sexual energy

You know what I know is that when I tried the Body Method from Jack Greenwood's The Ultimate Power I was able to really control my sexual energy. now I pretty much have been doing wuji posture and doing the body method only without moving my hands up and down. Or just standing in horse stance and bringing up earth energy on the inhale and then exhale pushing it back down into the earth and repeating. Focusing on pushing down all your troubles and tensions into the earth. But Now I add a little more and I mix heaven and earth energy, breathing in earth and heaven energy up and down. 15 mins a day is minimum, max is 1 hr. But really I think 20 mins is where you'll really start to feel it more immediately.
  14. Clearing heart fire and sexual energy

Fairly simple form of acupressure that you can do on your second metacarpal bone: http://www.thetaobums.com/index.php?app=forums&module=forums&section=findpost&pid=310705 Just find any tender spot in the medial side of your second metacarpal bone and massage it for 10 mins a day. It works. it's also right next to LI4, which you can also massage the heck out of.
  15. Clearing heart fire and sexual energy

running barefoot or with a plimsole or some minimalist shoe has been said to be good for lower back pain... it's also good for the calves.. and there are exercises for the kidneys which include calf raises. Also.. standing on one foot with eyes closed is a good exercise. If you can do it 1 minute with eyes closed like they do in one of those yoga positions (other leg bent and foot underneath the crotch) it means you have strong kidneys.
  16. Clearing heart fire and sexual energy

kidney yin tonification? kd 6 tonifies kd yin.
  17. Meditation is not a good way for practising

So again how do you do this? What IS your practice?
  18. Any TCM or Taoist liver cures?

Hm where do you find information on these Rainbow Body Exercises? Are they even daoist?
  19. Any TCM or Taoist liver cures?

Wow I tried He Shou Wu powder on an empty stomach in the morning after just waking up. I took about a tablespoon with cold water... immediately I felt the aphrodisiac properties of it . Anyway.. I take Jia Wei Xiao Yao Wan which is good for liver qi stagnation. Just Xiao Yao Wan is useful but Jia Wei Xiao Yao Wan is for extra heat from the liver yang rising.
  20. Meditation is not a good way for practising

Well... I was thinking of narrowing down all my practices to some more simple and encompassing meditation like: sitting in full lotus for 20 mins, emptiness meditation type. Standing meditation in the wuji posture breathing in earth energy and breathing down heaven energy, ie exchanging/breathing heaven and earth energy through me.
  21. Tonic foods?

Not all raw foods are damp or cool, neither are they all damp promoting foods. "The ability to transform food into usable nutrients for the cells is dependent on the ‘digestive fire’ to ‘cook’ the foods and ensure this transformation is completed." But you're not using your own digestive fire when you're using external fire to cook the food. Depending on the external fire can weaken the yang of the body by depriving it of the exercise of digesting the food. Just like how allopathic medicines are considered yin and cooling, they "do the work for you" but in the long term it damages the yang because your body becomes dependent on it. Also when you cook food enzymes are denatured, and energy is released by heating it up. That's just chemistry. I understand this perception probably comes from the thought that maybe our body's digestive fire is too weak to process raw food. Not all raw food is cold, or promotes damp.. it's just raw. Cold food is cold. Not room temperature or temperature that is in for example a tropical environment. I live in Florida btw so the weather here is nice. As long as the food doesn't come straight out of the fridge it's not going to be cold. Just room temperature or above if it's been sun-heated. That and like I said not all vegetables are cooling and yin though by comparison with meat it might be considered yin. Some sources say that most plant foods are in fact neutral. Even so there are warming veggies just as there are cooling veggies. Just because some of the popular ones are cooling doesn't make all of them cooling. Though like I said, in comparison to meat they might be.. but is it necessary to be in a what might be seen as a relative state of extreme yang by eating meats and cooked foods that will polarize veggies as "cooling"? As I said before though.. it's just traditionally cooked foods was preferred over raw.. back in the ancient days. Perhaps because raw foods could often harbor parasites or bugs, and/or meat was always more common than veggies, grains and beans also (can't really be eaten raw unless sprouted and even so in delicate moderation). Then we found out that sprouting seed is useful and even consuming them in the earlier stages of maturity is probably healthier. Now we have better ways to cultivate and use agriculture to plant foods, and sprout them with minimal bacterial infection. We simply have more knowledge, and it's not unnatural to use these methods though minimal processing is best. Would you say that sprouting baby greens and microgreens so that they have less fibrous cell walls by growing them in the shade or in the dark until the last day is artificial? Of course not, it's just agriculture. Though the best ways of processing are the ways which are like the ancient ways of processing. They're not necessary though. We are natural farmers. My Chinese medicine professor even said when I brought up the topic of persistence hunting... if anything we are more natural farmers than hunters... just look at our bodies. This is how we've evolved. The earth provides enough to live off the land.. we don't need to be nomadic all the time even. We can settle and make a society and cultivate off the land to feed a family and expand.
  22. My first full lotus experiences

I think either way is fine as long as you can keep your back straight. I have trouble keeping my back straight both in lotus and in zhang zhuang... hopefully standing and sitting long enough relaxing what I need to relax the chi might straighten me out.
  23. My first full lotus experiences

I read somewhere that the lotus position reverses the bladder channel direction. Why would you want to do that? is this the reason why the jing transmutes to chi and drew experiences the "vagus nerve" orgasm?... what about the "offgassing shit smell" going up to your head all the time lol. Do you always want the bladder channel to go that direction if that's what it does? BTW... what is up with the John Chang picture I've seen of him holding like an upper body zhang zhuang position in the lotus? I wonder what the purpose of the posture is. I think it might be beneficial for my spine to hold an upper body zhang zhuang position while doing sitting meditation. maybe in zazen too since it's neutral, ie one foot isn't more prominent than the other.
  24. Tonic foods?

You must be referring to your understanding of the spleen/stomach system. That's fine. I wonder how these guys' spleen/stomach systems are doing it: http://naturesfitnessmodel.com/ There are links to numerous raw vegan models there showing no signs of distending abdomens and such. Not every raw vegan has it. So there is a right and a wrong way to do it. You'll probably say that these people might be using supplements.. yea it's definitely possible. Though it's still very possible even so without supplements. Do all animals eating raw food have spleen/stomach issues or it only applies to humans? Well, I still stand by my opinion that a raw foods diet can be done if one is careful about it.
  25. ECIWO Acupuncture/Acupressure

How to Find Your Acupuncture Points It is easy to find your acupuncture points. When Professor Yingqing Zhang discovered the bio-holographic law, hundreds of new points were identified. ECIWO (Embryo Contains Information of the Whole Organism) biology and medicine is almost unheard of outside of China. Many practitioners of traditional acupuncture in China are giving up their old ways and switching to ECIWO biology. ECIWO biology is fast, easy, and the results are often surprisingly effective. 92% of patients improve with self-treatment. Only about 8% of the general population does not respond to treatment. Take the eraser end of a pencil and explore your hand, pushing with steady pressure to the side of the second metacarpal bone. Any tender point indicates a health problem in that area of the body. The tender points cannot tell what the disease is, though it tells you where the problem lies. I find that the more tender the point, the more serious the illness. In about 5% of the cases no tender spot is found. It is not known why this occurs. Unfortunately, if you cannot find the point, it cannot be treated. Acupressure works best for resolution or a healing phase illness. It doesn't work as well with conflict active phase illness. Every long bone system and organ have a full set of corresponding points. However, all points can be conveniently accessed on the hands. This way, there is no need to disrobe. Self treatment involves pressing the pencil eraser firmly and rubbing in a circular motion on the most tender point for ten minutes, once daily. This is uncomfortable and can be painful, but no pain, no gain. Occasionally, during treatment you may feel dizzy or nauseous. This is caused by a strong immunological reaction. If this occurs, stop the treatment. This usually means that you will heal quickly. http://www.new-holistic-medicine.com/acupuncture-points-ECIWO.html A lot more info in the link, with videos.
