  1. let´s open a new topic!

can the Ox and the farmer maybe simbolize intense practice (cultivation)?

the river going up hill maybe symbolizes the Return Path.

In buddhism and vedanta there are two paths of the Cosmos: The path o Evolution, or Creation of the Cosmos which is called Pravritti i.e. the comming forth of the world and all it's activities. The scriptures of Pravritti Dharma thus speaks about laws of moral duty and how men should behave in society and follow the Dharma, living in the day-to-day world.

The Nirvitti Path, or the left hand path, is involution, dissolution and return to the Source (the River going uphill ?) Those are followed by the Yoguins and cultivators to seek true eternal knowledge.

Oh.. Gerard, By the way, beatiful picture and simbology of the Pelvic skeleton!

Where did you gather all the "esoteric" information and interpretation of the TCM theory (like the projecting of reallity throu8gh the Gall Bladder and Liver, etc)?

  2. Hi all

I have been practicing Qigong and Yoga for some time, now particularly Kriya Yoga from Dwami Satyananda's lineage.

The interesting thing about the Kriyas mentioned in this tradition, is that it performs the Microcosmic Orbit on the opposite direction; i.e. up the front of the body and down the back.

After practicing Pranayama for a couple of years, I started to notice that I could feel the Qi around my body, particularly as a buzzing and magnetic sensation, this sensation went on for along time, so that I even forgot how it was not to feel it. But things changes after the Kriya Yoga practices started.

Funny enough, today, after my Kriya Practices, I stop feeling the Qi sensations, and feel compeltely grounded in my body. By grounded I do not mean the grounded that I feel during Qigong (During Qigong, I actually feel that alot of energy is spread out through my body and forming the shape of my body). but after my Kriya Yoga practices, I feel absolutely no energy through my body, but I do feel happy and light and euphoric and active.

The conclusion that i took of this experience is that the contrary motion actually compresses the Qi into Jing. I have read this in a Qigong book of Master Yang, but I actually experienced it with the Kriyas.

I have never had the same experience by bringing my intent to my Dantien after practice, and I wounder if the energetic mechanics are the same. I.e. if I bring my intent and Qi corerctly to my Lower Dantien, if it will be stored as Jing and ground my by withdrawing my Qi from around my body (which is very bad if you want to give a walk in town, or talk to people without "feeling" them)

I will post an image showing the basic principles.

The arrow with the character "I", represents the conversion of expanded Qi into Jing, or the inverted Microcosmic Circulation (known as the wind path)

The arrow with the Character "II", respresents the conversion of concentrated Jing into expanded Qi, or the normal Microcosmic Cicrulation.

Interesting enough, it is said that alot of yoguic practices open up higher centres of energy (associated with captation of expanded Qi), to in those cases, to ground it into you body, it really is acdvisable to do some inverted MCO.

    post-78900-0-42156400-1359474524_thumb.jpg

please, do comment on this post, and if anyone knows the answer if bringing intent to Lower Dantien is intended to have the sme effects, also please manifest yourselves!

    Thank You

  3. Cheyne-stokes respiration. That's pathological apnea of neuro origin. Don't remember all the physiological details, basically sensors in brain get out of sync and don't tell lungs to breath with good timing.

Geese... those western abordations really spookes me out! rsrs...

I will read the article and try to observe my breathing patterns deeper still to see if I notice the typical oscillation mentioned in the Cheyne-stokes article on the internet..

    Thanks for sharing sister.

  4. MoG hello,

I read all written till here. Thank you for all writer friends please share all you knowledge more with us.

    MoG, my mind is mixed with your messages. I try to explain why;

    What is your primary practice/practices?

Which type of practices you are doing daily?

How many different practices you are doing in short times?

Which traditions that you are practicin? Like qi gong/ yogic etc.

Why I'm asking them because you are using a mixture and in my opinion you have to give up some of them. We all have to use simple ways. One by one. After we finished one practice we can go up another one. And each has to take some time to give right results.

In your case, you wrote different types of happenings before and this topic. We have a good election for everything. If anything happends again and again on each practice we can see that we are on wrong way. If nothing happens in every practice, we again see that we are in wrong way. But if we saw anything happened in some practices and in some not we can say that we are groving. We have some results in this way.

1st rule be patient. Just try and try. Don't matter what is going on. Just practice. After the 100 days you have to see some effects. Before 100 days of any practice you can only see (this is not a rule just an opinion but proved by first hand experiences) mostly illusions. Like body feelings, like visions or hearing sounds etc. Don't mind on these things before 100 days after. And you keep them on your mind which I wrote in this paragraph after answer my questions first.

    With my all good wishes.

    Aziz

Ok Aziz, Thnks for the post, i will answer your questions...

I started practicing Yoga daily and seriously about three to four years ago, when I was all fucked up drinking, smoking and using alot of psychedelics.

Since then my priority was Yoga practices, practicing everyday, following Swami Satyananda's book on Tantra and Kriya, one pace at a time and really giving 100 % effort on the pranayama practices. I started practicing only on the mornings, for about 30 an hour first, and slowly increasing to about 3 hours to even 4 if I have time (todays practice), always in the morning.

The yoguic practices, praticularly the Pranayama practices really were opening up some energies within me, but in a rather disordered manner, I spent alot of time kinda insane, having allucinations, feeling strange things, not understanding what was happening. It was when I started feeling energy around me, and it's interaction with people. I guess that the great problem of Pranayama is knowing how to direct the energy, i mean, it really transforms Jing into Qi, but the Qi would stay spread out around my body, interacting with people, and I would loose my body awarness and stay spaced out for months in a row.

About one year ago I started incorporaing some Taoist practices. My general rule was: Stick to the Yoga practices in the morning, and experiment whatever you want in the evening. so that I did not get lost trying alot of practices, which would ultimately mess up with the whole practice buisness.

Today I am living in a farm for some months, and increasing my practice period which is very stable now.

On the mornings I still practice my Yoga techniques, starting with Asanas, including increasing the Sirsasana headstand pose. and increasing Uddiiyana Bandha practice Then passing on to Bhastrika Pranayama (I only started practicing this one after about 3 years of Nadi Shodhana) and Nadi Shodhana if both my nostrils are opened. Then I do the first 4 or 5 Kriyas of the Swami Satyananda tradition, to chanellize the energy generated during the pranayamas.

I have a light breakfast and after i compeltely digested the food I start my afternoon practice of Hatha yoga again, this time only practicing the Headstand Sirsasana and the Uddiyana Bandhas repetitive contraction, following Bhastrika Pranayama and Nadi Shodhana if the weather is not too hot.

This ends my yoguic practices for the day.

On the afternoon I do one round of the 24 simplified Taichi and one round of the 48 movements taichi from Shouyu-Liang's tradition,

and at night my Qigong practices from Shou Yu Liang's tradition also. Basically Ba Duan Jin to warm up and get the Qi flowing, then the relaxation thechniques and Qi permeating technique, then the Kidney Strengthening Qigong and finally ending with some Zhan Zhuang.

That answers you questions... ; )

about mixing the practices, I really feel comfortable with it, and believe that it actually helps me. The yoguic practices, especially the breath retention ones are more agressive to my body, but are very good for generating energy, i like them. I feel that the night practices and the taichi kind of balances out any execssive and irregular energy pattern that was originated in the yoguic practices and are very important to my whole sadhana bringing the energy more in contact with my body and directing them.

If I were older and had a more stressed up body, i certainly wouldn't practice the Hatha yoga pranayamas as intenselly as I do.

I believe that energetic mechanisms are universal, so it really is possible to dialogue in between different traditions..

Gunk moves when your mind does, it has to go somewhere...so the more you have the thicker it is and easily stagnates. We have a physical body in this plane, this makes things a little bit trickier. Moving practice should become 80% of your training in order to remove stagnation for good. Don't expect quick results, change will occur overtime with consistent training and a disciplined lifestyle.

    Edited:

I forgot to mention that the middle tantien and the coccyx are the two most important areas of the physical body to work on in terms of blockages. Take a look at the shape of the latter and you'll understand why IMA focuses so much in that area when doing energetic release (opening the kua & dang work):

    75928743.jpg

Looks like a big receptacle, doesn't it? Blockages naturally accumulate in that area, it's like what you find beneath a waterfall: lots of sedimentary deposits sitting at the bottom.

Is taichi good for moving practice? or should I incorporate the walking qigong on my night practice?

I've heard that heat can represent an area energy is running through, the more it heats up the more energy that is being run through and eventually it calms down once the "wires" open up to allow easy and efficient passage. It could also be that you need to stretch your lower spine and legs, or even that you need to reconnect to that area, and the surrounding areas to ensure the energy isn't blocked. What do you think it is?

hmm I have heard about the heat being generated because of "friction" of impurities also. It is possible to be due to that, but also... the navel area is traditionally associated with fire, so the Qi of that region maybe of fire like qualities even after the organism is unblocked. I believe that in my case it could be a misxture of both, since it is the first time that I felt such a sensation (hot) going through that area....

I post my experiences here to make sure with more experienced practitioners and to share with general public.

  5. I want to add to this topic a new exeprience with heat that I had just a few days ago.

Interesting enough it had nothign to do with Pranayama nd kumbhaka, and happened during a Qigong practice.

It was during some Kidney Sterngthening Exercices from Shou Yu Liang's Qigong empowernment book, particularly the girdle vessel circulation, where I focused on my lower dantien, then while exhaling and contracting my perineum, i brought the Qi down to the hui-yin, then up to the mingmen, then round the girdle vessel to my navel, and when I inhale I would bring my Qi down from my navel to my Dantien, repeating 21 times.

After some rounds I started feeling a Heat sensation on my Navel, the Heat spreaded all over the navel area as I continues the exercice, then it came down to my Huiyin and up my spine. I was going to try and complete the microcosmic circulation with it, but it got stuck in an obstrucion in the height more or less of the mingmen, where it stopped rising and the sensation of heat soon dimineshed and dispersed. I felt some pain on the obstruction.

    very interesting experience.

On the next day I noticed a certain lightness on my body and mood, my I also noticed that beneath my eyes were blackish coloured, as if i'd been punched on the eye socket. My aunt noticed it particularly and said that it looked that I had painted it black. Any ways, I know that on Japanese Acupuncture face-reading, this region is associated with the Kidneys, so I guess that I forced a little bit of my Kidneys on that practice, I don't know if it was because of the practice, or because of the blockage (on the region of the Mingmen). Maybe it happened due to a desobstruction. Don't know.

    Anyone?

  6. Hi all.

I have studied my breathing patterns lately... and i noticed that, if it is Apnea that I am suffering, it surely is not the physical type, for I have slept sitting down and in varied positions and sometimes some breath shortaged still takes place (but in a mild manner, not as drastic as the crisis that I have when I practice too much exercice). So I believe that my sort of "apnea" has it's origin in the Nervous System.

I have been noticing my breathing patterns bduring the day time also, and I noticed that it is very sutil, and very silent throughout the day, I guess this is a good breathing pattern to meditate, but not very good to do the day-to-day buisness, so I am practicing Ajapa-Japa throughout the day, which basically is conscious breathing. If I forget, my breathing will get very sutil once again, and I will enter a more transcendental and hibernating mode, so I constantly have to be aware of breathing. (Ajapa Japa means "repetition without repetition" which is being aware of the breathing process and often associating mantras with is, as So-Hong ("so" uininspiration, and "hong" in expiration), it seems like it's working to make me more alert during the day-to-day.

I have been thinking.. Ajapa Japa is said to be a very important practice for advanced Yoguins, so I have been thinking... maybe very advanced yoguins must practice Ajapa Japa all day long to continue alive and not desencarnate, or simply not to stay in a perpetual Samadhih, since they activated so strongly some "transcendental energies" that their breath is constantly stopping... I am Just thinking out loud here...

  7. Buteyko method is quite effective treating apnoea. It is simple in its concept- nostril breathing during the day, and night, with the tongue resting on the upper palate. Balances the blood gasses is O2 & CO2, and the respiratory centre in the brain gets retrained to trigger in accordance with blood gasses as it should. Benefits of testing the tongue on the upper palate will resonate with cultivators. http://www.buteyko.info/

    superb!

    --------------------------

Actually my brothers, I have a strong hunch that it side effect from (strong) pranayama practice affecting the respiritory and nervous system accompanied with exhaustion, but I rather not say anything for the moment and dig in deeper and go for the physician, but I certainly will come back with some answers, rsrs..

  8. MoG,

Regarding practices being compatable i would suggest you save up and go see a real master and learn a lineage practice. I fluffed around for 7 years wasting my time buying dvd's and going to classes, trying to stick all these random practices together. Looking back on it my face glows red (with shame). It is essential that we see someone who has travelled the road, otherwise we end up wandering off into a ditch, or lost on a million sideroads.

Thnks for the advise Bamboo, hopefully in about 4 months I will be close to a reall master to absorb the teachings.

    Hello MoG,

I'm writing some my opinions that I heard from my teachers before feeling cold in practice. Maybe this could be some clue for you and for others.

First of all in practicing Baduan Jin the energy comes out after 2 years. Not starts easly. That's why most people left these practices.

I don't know anything about other practices what they effect or what they change. But -this written page before - you need to practice with a teacher better.

Cold feeling is not a good sign mostly. This shows sometimes leak of energy in meridians or on lower dan tien. If the dan tien not made (practicing cilibasy and some other methods) gathering the energy on lower dan tien will not put in together. This could be felt like cold in body.

Also there is another option. If you get cold, flu or humidity into your body or into your organs, this could be come out when your practicing.

How you can decide which is which? What do you feel after all these cold is main. If you got tired on next days, you will loosing your energy. You won't keep into your body. But if everything is o.k. and you feel yourself good or better you will understand that you are givin out cold steam into your body. Maybe hot sauna will be better on this.

    Please forgive my poor English.

    Regards.

Hi Azad, I appreciate your reply.

oh yes, I feel alot tired lately.

I even wrote a topic on breath suspention due to exhaustion some days ago.

May this energy leackage be due to not closing onto Dantien properly after practice?

I realized that I do not close

  9. Hi MoG, I have a client, thin as a rail, recently dignosed with sleep apnea. This person's father had it so bad that his kids had to keep him awake while he was driving! Scary! Your blood oxygen drops, so you are exhausted all the time. This client is undergoing treatment, and feels MUCH better! You will too! Good luck!

    Hey Cheya.

Do you know what kind of treatment your client underwent?

    thnks

  10. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Apnea

Best to have that checked out by a medical professional buddy.

will check out with my doctor.

Hi MoG This REALLY sounds like sleep apnea, and it is not spiritual. People die from this. Please follow GrandmasterP's link and advice to have yourself checked out medically ASAP! Good luck!

    Will check this out!

Agreed it sounds like something for the medical doctor. The question on whether this is a side effect of practices is a good one. I read somewhere (and as usual, if I find it again I'll post) pranayama could have long term effects that might not be what you want, but I'd rather let the more experienced bum yogis weigh in on it.

I found this just now: http://www.ayurvedacollege.com/articles/drhalpern/Pranayama_Yoga_Ayurveda

Yep, see a doc and get a teacher.

    Oh yes!

I am so grateful for you all having said this to me.

I will surely consult a medical doctor and explain him my situation.

i probably will have a blood test check to check out my iron and vitamins levels since I am a vegetarian.

My father has Apnea but he is fat, and he says that apnea happens normally with people that are fat. It happens due to a relaxation of the breathing related muscles, which are impeded from continuing with their functions due to the extra weight of the fat and mass of obese people.

I believe that in my case, the Apnea that is occuring is a manifestation due to other factors. I.E. exhaustion.

The Apnea crisis that I have normally happen when I am feeling really exhausted, probably my muscles relax so much that the Apnea comes in.

So i guess i need to discover the cause of this Exhaustion or rather, my exhaustion can be due to my apnea that is ocurring every night, which in turn causes more ehaustion which leads to a more profound relaxation which leads to more apnea crisis.

    for the meanwhile I will:

I am planning in adding some meat in my Diet, maybe a Liver Soup or broken bone Soup once a week for nourishment.

Avoid sleeping when I feel exausted, and probably try and just rest without faling a sleep, the exhaustion normally subsides. If I sleep, probably I should do it in a sitting or reclined position. (curious that the last time that I had a crisis, i instinctively turned with my belly downwards, every time I had crisis, I was laying down with my belly upwards, so the weight of my belly would sink down, forcing against the diafragm`s free movement)

I will check this out with my TCM physician also. I will probably get a sleeping test to test for my apnea.

My neck is very long which might contribute to this condition. The sofa in which i had some crisis is very soft and I was sleeping withou a pillow with could facilitate a blockage in my neck.

I will make my best to sleep on my sides instead of on my back, maybe by stitching a pocket on the back of my pijamas and putting a tennis ball there, so that I can`t lay down on my back, forcing myself to turn sideways.

Whoa, it seems that apnea affects alot of people who don`t even know it!!!! I certainly will sleep on my sides from today onwards!

oh... have you guys ever heard about that wooden "pillow" which is supposed to fit perfectly on one`s neck??

probably it has a shape intended to relieve those apneas! I will chech this out.

my brothers, thank you very much for your feedback! helped me alot (even save my life probably) rsrsrs....

i am going to my farm so will not reply for the next days, but will surely post futurely with updates.

I found a nice website full of info.:

Thank you once again, God bless you all

  11. Some art stems from suffering, some from contentment and some from the desire to earn a living by it.

    No audience, no artist.

    I agree completely.

I myself have written alot of poetry that sprung from an overwhelming anxiety which burst creatively in all directions. But all of those creations tended to the negative side, some very beautiful and dificult to tell that they were negative. But the Dark Side was there.. occult.

During this period i really believed that all inspiration came from this profound striving / anxiety. But all of a sudden one day, i discovered anoter source of inspiration, and it was blissfull, peacful, very wise, serene, and way,. way more lucid, as if inspiration poured with no difficulti and spontaneously.

  12. I believe that this condition is aggravated in cases of an excessively weak diet and extreme summer Heat which makes my body meltish and slow and heavy.

    -------------------

One of my "spiritual sources" that mentions experiences of Suffocation is Master Tolken`s "The hobbit". More especifically a passage of the book in which the Hobbit and his friends are lost in the Dark Woods, and are captured by giant Spiders who roll them in their silk cocoons, thus suffocating them, By the time Bilbo Baggins reaches his friends to save them, they are already purple due to the suffocation.

  13. Here is another post which has the purpose to shed light on newer possible side-effects of certain practices.

I believe it is important to share the negative or "cautious" aspects of practice, so this topic seeks not only to expose a possible side - effect, but also to receive feedback of people who are more experienced and might have had gone through the same side effects.

I also am aware of those called "side effects" might have also an almost purely personal nature, in the sense that it is due to a personal energetic and physiological disharmony and is in no way to be generalized to other practitioners.

My physical body is resisting much less to physical work and, when I overindulge on them some side-effects take place.

The most important one, which I had started having contact about one year ago, especially deserves my attention and it is the onset of suffocation.

This suffocation takes place when I sleep or rest, generally during the Day time, due to tiredness or exhaustion. I lay down on a couch to take a nap and sometimes, during this nap, my breath simply stops.

This stopping of breath is not a Kevala Kumbhaka stopping of breath. The characteristic of Kevala Kumbhaka a suspention of breath in which the person does not feel any urge to breath, it i very comfortable.

In my case, it is different, I feel as if I am being choked and suffocated (may be even dying) and is not pleasant at all.

It has happened quite a few time on the last year, always when I get involved in alot of physical work, like planting trees, or spend alot of time in strengthening asanas.

I never concerned myself alot with this phenomena, but the last time it occurred, one of my aunts actually saw the crisis and was pretty shocked, so she ended up "scaring" me about it, so I decided to share this physical-physiological experience here.

She first of all noticed that I was giving loud gruning noises while trying to grasp air during my sleep.

On this particular day, my morning asana practice was quite intense and consisted of: three slow rounds of Sun Saultation, about 2 - 3 minutes of Jalandharasana and Halasana, about 2 minutes of *Bhujangasana, 2 minutes of *Shalambhasana, 8 minutes of Sirshasana, 1 2 mintues of *Khandarasana, some push ups, about 500 rapid contractions of *Uddiyana Bandha in total, and 1 minute honding into the pose of *Mayurasana, about 15 rounds of Bhastrika Pranayama* The poses I placed the * sign are especially tyring.

After the practice I felt very tired, but still very lucid.

my body was in a completely relaxed state and my breathing heavy and slow.

I have heard that Yoguis, particularly Hatha Yoguins that follow the path of Pranayama should avoid too much physical exertion, I have heard it very very briefly mentioned on "Introduction to Tantra" book of Arthur of Avalon.

I believe that this is a natural process but any ways...

Maybe this is the reason why it is said that one should be physically strong (strong Jing) before starting the Internal Alchemy process mentioned in Chinese Scripture, my source being Fabrizio`s book on the topic. ShouYuliang also mentions that Daoists cultivate Jing Before and After having started to cultivate Light and Spirit. So I kind of interpret this as there is naturally a period in the Process of awakening, in which the physical body (represented my Jing) receives alot of stress due to adaptations occuring on Physical, Physiological and Energetic, thus it needs to be strong before this stress period is gone through, having the risk of even desencarnating (Death, or Desencarnation is a possibility in which I started pondering about only after I say my Aunt`s fearful expression after she witnessed one of my "attacks".)

    -------------------

To avoid this from happening, next time i feel exhausted, I will try to and laydown and rest without falling asleep, see what happens and add the "results" to this topic.

    -------------------

Any info from other Bums is warmly welcome

  14. Did you try the method I offered?

If you did, this is the manner in which I was stating. Its not going to be a burning heat, just a warmth upon the body. In this way, the sensation will not deter your application of concentration.

I am visiting my parents in their town so stopped the practice for 3 days, I will inform you on another occasion.

  15. Also having gone wrong in this aspect previously, be careful that the practices you are using are compatible with each other.

    Cheers Bamboo.

    Nice thread.

I will ponder upon it (maybe this isn`t correct english).

Hmm about the Coolness, once again I will remind you that internally I feel warm, it is my body externally that gets cold to the touch. By what you said about the seasons, and the Kidney predominance, I just remembered. Isn`t Kidney Qi Hot on the Inside and Cold on the outside?

How can I know if certain practices are compatible with one another? what are the underlaying dynamics of the choices?

    namaste

  16. Liver heat, eh? hopefully you don't smoke, and don't drink coffee, or eat spicey foods, drink beer, and or other alcoholic beverages.

Xiao Yao Wan is a good simple formula (tea pill). Its a harmless suggestion. Not the only one there either. Drinking apersonally formulated herbal concoction is so much better than patent formulas because they go so much deeper and are so much more concentrated with good stuff. Tea Pills (patents) are good too, and can help to a deep extent superficially. Depends on the level of the condition :-)

and to the heating coccyx, when it gets hot, breathe it up the spine, engulfing the whole spine, while intending the breath to actually lower the vibration of the energy so as not to "burn" you out and or cause other imbalances. Intending to trust in that inherent wisdom will always lead one to open up to it and realize snippets of wisdom and teaching more and more.

you may even try inhaling it up the spine, while it penetrates the rest of the body. All the while maintaining focus on its travels p the spine to the crown. It may stop on its own at certain chakras and feel like it disperses, but it doesn't. Its charging up the centers which need to reach higher vibrations. If and when that happens, just maintain concentration and wait for the heat to build up again to do it again. Each time, on its own natural accord, it will go to its necessary chakra and either move through it to the next, or charge it up.

you probably already have such methods. But, You picked my brain..hahaha fun to share...sorry if you have this, done this, or are not interested. Hope it gives you something though :D and if not... NAMASTE!

Thankyou very much my brother. Nice Post!

very helpful post indeed. I have never had a personal Guru, so I am am very "cautious" (in it`s relative concept.. hehe). And like o reveive alot of info.

As for the Heat, the last time it happened, I managed to pull it up with my plain intent (not necessarily sincronizing with breath), up to my Mingmen point.

Funny, after the practice, I felt (Am feeling right now) Heat on my neck, more especifically the right side, it is not bothering me, and it is not a violent heat. a superficial and tangible heat on my skin (by tangible I mean that it is not like the heat generated by sports or running, but rather like dipping my hand into Hot water.)

May I ask you about your experiences with heat?

    The practices that generated them?

the sources from which you gathered your info?

    Thank you!

  17. Maybe somehow you are depleting the energy from lower dan tien and kidneys with regimen you are doing.

But i am more grounded, have a stronger sexual drive, and greater capacity of retaining my ejaculation...

aren`t all tose signs of a stronger lower Dantien and Kidney?

  18. A few years back I did a tibetan form of yoga. One day after a few hours I sat down to do some meditation and I noticed there was a greater deal of pressure in the forehead. When I closed my eyes and got really relaxed, all of the sudden out of nowhere a great flood of incredible white light starting opening up in my head. It was absolutely incredible,I got scared because of the intensity with which this light came in. I immediately opened my eyes and I was a little shaken. My heart was beating and there was a a wave of intense heat in the body. It was moving like waves in my body. Even thought I stopped this light from going any further the heat in the body was persistent. It was not uncomfortable, but it was hot. I have read Gopi Krishna's book on Kundalini awakening and I am 100% sure this is what happened because the light he described in the book was exactly what I experienced. I looked at myself in the mirror and my pupils were very dilated, if you saw my eyes you would have thought I had taken ecstacy or some drug. I did some alternate nostril breathing to try and balance out the energy and it seems that it made the heat subsided and the pupil dilation also came down quite a bit. I managed to get to sleep, when I woke up I could still feel energy moving in the body, but it had decreased quite a bit. Another interesting thing is that I was strangely very aware of everything around me and my eyes were very open. I had read about Kundalini, but I had no idea it would happen this quick. I had only been practising yoga for a year and half give or take a few months and I had only recently started doing seated meditation. I though these kinds of things happen after very prolonged practice. I had read extensively on the dangers of prematurely activating this energy, so I know I should be very careful with this whole situation. What I noticed is that a lot of these experiences started happening once I started to do seated meditation, before I only did the Yantra Yoga practice and I never had something like this happen, sure I felt a good pleasurable heat in the body after practise, but nothing like the heat/light explosion and that incredible light that happened.

Do not play with this, I know first hand the kind of power you are dealing with, It ain't a joke. You need to search for a spiritual master!!

Before you do anything yoga related I advise to read all material by Gopi Krishna.

I`ve read a book of Gopi Krishna.

Well... I Know i need a guru, and i know that those things are dangerous, so I hope everything goes alright. I try and comunicate any strange experience here in the forum so that I gain feed back.

One of these days during meditation, afte some rounds of pranayama, I discovered that the visual image that we form of the world is formed actually a little higher than our actual eyes. kind of on our forehead (it seemed like my virtual eyes) and there were two of them... one on the left and one on the right. So I tried to join both "eyes" on one single spot on the center of my forehead - third eye. And I managed to mesh those "centers of vision", where my eye sight takes place, into one only, like a monocle (those things that pirates use to on the se to see far away). Any way. I suddently felt that my whole body was divided into two, and I could mix and compress both of those sides on my spinal column, so that they become one (like th meshing of both eyes). and at this point I could see alot of light on my spinal column.

But i did not burnmyself. i Tried again another day but didn`t manage. It happens all of a sudden and I need to just go with the flow, i don`t really chose, just meditate everyday and sometimes it happens.

About Kundalini.. What I know is the following:

It is good to start practicing Nadi SHodhana Pranayam with breath retention. Probably after increasing the Kumbhaka, puraka and rechaka ratios, you will start developing you Ida Nadi, your left side. which is not a very good experience, because it is very dark, squizofrenic and echoeish, but it is much more safe to start by developing it than the Pingala (Sun Nadi). Thus you start "cleansing up your karmas" but necesseraily with "Ida Nadi" so that you do not burn yourself up, as a safety measure.

Only after you have atained i high ratio on Nadi Shodhana, you should start with Bhastrika Pranayam with retention. If you are with a Guru, maybe there is another Way to reach the same goal faster. But withou a guru, you surely want to always tend to Ida nADI. Repeating.. It is not a pleasent experience to activate Ida Nadi and Explore the World of the Dead while still alive.

On the Hobbit it is said that they had to go into the Dark Woods (Ida Nadi activation) because the Main Passage was blocked (Sushumna)

In Hermetical Alchemy they speak of a Wet Path (Via Umida - Ida activation) and Dry Path (Via Seca - Pingala Activation). The Via Umida is said to be slower, and the Via Seca faster to the ultimate Goal - The Philosophers Stone. but the Via Seca is much, much more dangerous due to the possibility of Explosion of the Great Work.

When Ida Nadi is activated, Qi Spirals. (Alchemical drawings would show flasks with vapours spiraling out)

When Pingala Nadi is activated, Qi Blasts. (Alchemical drawings would show furnaces with great fire and an alchemist handling some aparatus on the blazing fire)....

it is said that sooner or later the alchemist enters the Dry Path (but, i guess, the most time he stays on the via umida, the safer)

    ----------------------------------------------------------

    from what I studied...

If something went wrong and i start to feel as if I am burning i would:

    1) try and stay calm

    2) try and mesh both sides on the spinal column (Gopi Krishna)

    3) Eat nourishing food every 2 1/2 hours (Gopi Krishna - and - Introduction to Tantra: Arthur of Avalon)

    4) Avoid contact with Fire (introduction to Tantra: Arthur of Avalon)

    5) Avoid being under the Sun and Heat.

And oh, i mastered Khechari mudra now, I think that I read is some place that it is cooling, and reduces the digestive fire also, but i am not quite sure.

    ----------------------------------------------------------

Oh... Theos Bernard on his Hatha Yoga books mentions that White Light is specifically related to Kundalini, and he was advised to work with other coloured lights before trying to handle Kundalini. The other lights being related to other Tattvas

The coccyx is the firey kundalini...go easy with it!

What does "go easy with it" mean?

    like.. stop practicing it?

Yep. Read kundalini awakening first. Make sure that's what you want, then proceed.

Samadhi isn't fun if you're not ready for it.

If unexpected thing happens during your meditation, remember to remain calm and smile, trust God.

    thanks for message brother...

lately i have been feeling alot of devotion... i always as for help before my practices and do it trying to feel the Presence around me guiding me....

    -----------------------

have you guys heard anything else about handling fire?

  19. There are some bums here who chose to post in the moment.

    Yes, I noticed it... ^_^

unfortunately I do not have internet in my house, and probably miss some precious posts since I do not access everyday.

But I was lucky this time due to your actions!

    -----------------------

About stopping some aspects of the practice...

It is important to note that I do not feel cold during the practice... I feel fine.. it is just my skin that become cold.

I used to have alot of night emissions, but lacked sexual vigour. Afetr practicing the Kidney strengthening, I noticed that the emission ceased... I still dream with women and having intercourse with them, but I do not ejaculate, and I noiced that, even though I am not having emissions, I wake up with an erection more often, so I guess that the Kidney Stregnghthening is really helping me to preserve My Yin and Yang in Kidney, since I was having up to 3 ejacs or more a weak, with no control.. I was in dispair!...

During the Kidney Strengthening exercices I felt alot of Heat and even sweating.

The feeling of cold happens more often ater I go to sleep.

please Friend... I am not discarting you precious post, I am just extending the discussion further more.

    Cheers.

  20. Sometimes while practicing Pranayama, more often with Bhastrika Pranayama, I feel Heat forming in the area of the coccix.

It happens during Antar Kumbhaka; Inner Retention.

I get scared because of the fantastic stories I have heard about Yogis that burnt themselves up and all. While I was in India, visiting a Naturopathic Hospital, I was said that a few days earlier a young Yoguin was brought in, it was said that he was going crazy and felt as if he was on fire on the inside. I don't know how much of this is true or not, believe it or not, most Indians see Yoga more fanatically than westeners and don't actually practice it to try and reach Samadhi. They are very "Afraid" (or maybe respect alot) the practice.

Sometimes I feel the Heat rising. I feel someheat on the Mingmen and on the Navel also.

During the retention, I try and bring my intent to the Perineum and the Navel, as if trying to connect both, while doing the Mahabandha (neck, stomach {with the lungs full of air, the stomach lock is more of a slight pulling in of the bellybutton}, and Perineum contraction)

Does anyone have experience in this matter, such as the possile Dangers, how to avoid them, and what to do if something goes wrong?

How are those Heat experiences spoken of in Daoist alchemy?

    Thank You

  21. Still going well with that?

I never actually did try the moxa on zusanli myself. Your results inspired me to try it, so I ordered some last night for this!

So... I got a Cold, on the Day I got the cold, I must have sneezed about 500 times... Till night time...

At night I Dipped my feet in scorching hot water for 15 minutes As I said, and after that moxa'd the Suzanli points and went right to bed... As soon as I did this I stopped sneezing at once. The next day I only sneezed about 4 times in the morning and that's it.. it stopped completely....

I thought that I had gotten completely better, so I ate alot of salad and fruits, which are cooling... wasn't a very good idea because I night I was feeling kind of chilly still, so I did the procedur once again, on my feet and Moxa.... and I was cured completely for sure.... I highyl recommend it... After I moxa suzanli I felt the most strange feelings on my legs, as if they were highly energized...

But I was only with a Cold, clear this mucus and sneezing... I do not know if it is advisable to use it if the mucus got Yellow, concentrated and cooked. which means A Deeper Heat Disharmony...
