  1. Hello,

Has anyone achieved this (and used a sleep log to document it)?

I've gone about two months sleeping 10h a night, but that's ridiculous.

I've heard there are ways to be full of energy but sleep no more than 4-5 hours a night. Maybe involving herbs or meditation ? Some say Leonadro Da Vinci slept for 15 mins every two hours thus decreasing his total sleeping hours to 3 but remaining energetic and capable ?

I see sleep a lot like food. We probably get 20% too much for optimal health/time management... but your body will always fight to keep you in homeostasis. Every time I think I've managed to sleep less than 8h a night, I always end up catching up that sleep mid-day.

    So what are your experiences?

  2. Hello,

Do you guys know any herb that one can chew to cleanse his breath by any chance. I'm a big lover of onion and garlic but the stench their eating results in is very unsociable and a simple gum or teeth wash doesn't do it all the way. I've found out that if you eat garlic and onion with hot chili peppers the increased saliva production for the peppers helps remove the stench just a little bit. So I was hoping there is some herb or a mix of herbs that one can chew to solve this problem all the way.

    Thanks.

  3.

Just curious - what are you using for a grow medium?

Brown Rice, Rye, Vermiculite and Mineral Water

What you say sounds great, I'm boiling as I type this.

I'll soon add Maitake, Shiitake and Lion's Mane to my collection.

  4. very good answer thank you. I think I'll just eat the mushroom after I'm done with the process.

can you please provide some info on what you personally feel improving in yourself after you take rei-shi, both physically and energetically ?

  5. Hello,

I grow my own Rei-Shi mushrooms.

I wanted to ask if any of you know how much should I consume on a daily basis to experience the optimal benefits out of them.

    Cheers.

    P.S.

NOW's Rei-Shi Mushrooms supplement say one serving contains: Reishi Mushroom Extract Powder (10:1)(Ganoderma lucidum) 90 mg and that one is supposed to take this twice daily. But this is extract, so I need to compare it to the real thing.

  6. I know there are already a few topics on this here, but I read them and couldn't fully understand (probably cuz me is stupid).

What do Taoists, Buddhists, Yogi etc. think are the best hours to sleep. I've always slept like 10 hours and seems like I always need more as if I am in hibernation mode or something like that. Day's too short to sleep more than 5 hours. What's the trick to sleeping little and feeling rested ?

  7. Is Qigong the best way to find out if there is some imbalance and correct it ?

There are two TCM doctors here, but I found two articles in the local newspaper that they were frauds so I'm not sure if I should go and talk to them.

I do have anxiety issues, yes. My doctor prescribed me an SNRI, which I haven't started to take yet, because I was thinking of doing some He Shou Wu which is a MAOI and MAOIs and SNRIs don't go together. But maybe I'll go with the SNRI.

  8. I know you guys aren't doctors, even though I keep asking medical related question but still I could use additional help and some out-of-the-box thinking.

So here's the problem. Right hand blood pressure is 152/52 left hand 99/52. I'm pretty sure something's wrong. I went to a cardiologist, BP was 120/60 then, he said it's fine. ECG and Ultra-Sound were perfect too.

And yet I feel as some disease is in progress. I have these weird palpitations, I can feel my pulse in my fingers, as I type on the keyboard. Sometimes I wake up during sleep and my heart is racing.

    Some more info:

My aunt has some heart complications, my father purportedly died of a heart attack (but there was some insurance scam involved so I never found out the real cause of his death). He did have angina pectoris beforehand though.

Now I did suffer from a panic attack after a bad mushroom trip this christmas, so I went to the ER. Nothing special, just some Sodium Chloride infusion for 2 days. Medical review showed no complications whatsoever. Tommorow I'm going to do a full blood panel. I have been vegetarian for the last 4 years so it's possible I might have some deficiency (anemia etc.)

    I'm open to suggestions.

  9. Alrighty.. So since forever I think I had this weird issues related to most of the organs involved in the respiratory system:

    - nasal and paranasal sinuses (probably)

    - pulmonary tract

    - probably something else

Now I've had this and doctors can't seem to understand what exactly it is but the symptomps are the following.

All-year long clogged nasal cavity and pus leaking in my throat (yuck). Weird coughs every now and then (mostly in the cold seasons).

I tried quite a few doctors including some of the best specialists and their best guess was - "Coughing variation of asthma" and that it's rather allergic. This means it's not a bronchial asthma but at times I will have trobule breathing due to excessive coughing and clogged nose and pus leaking is probably related to this year long allergy (to dust maybe ?). I haven't had any attacks since 7-8 years but the pus is still leaking and my nose is always clogged, and I'm pretty sure this is detrimental in the long-term, so I've decided to cure it once and for all.

The things they prescribed me were Flixotide and Flixonase, which are basically corticosteroids for the throat and nose. I used them twice and they worked pretty nice (5-6 years ago), but long-term use of corticosteroids is a pain in the ass.

I want to fix whatever is causing this (energy blockages or something else) and I'd like it if people with advanced knowledge on herbalism could tell me what to take.

    Thanks.

I agree however, that different herbs act differently in males and females. For example, although Saw Palmetto has been for breast growth in women, in a male bodied person it converts to testosterone. No male wishing to feminize should use Saw Palmetto.

You do realize that Saw Palmetto is one of the most famous herbal supplements to act as 5-alpha reductase inhibitors and to be used as a potential profilcatic agent against prostate enlargement issues.

But there is some contradiction here as DHT is known to cause testicular atrophy, and testes are the organs which produce testosterone, which means that using saw palmetto will probably decrease testicular atrophy and indirectly help restore testosterone levels, but then numerous studies show that saw palmetto actually decreases endogenous testosterone production and that's why a lot of bodybuilders stopped using it in their post cycle treatment periods. Go figure.

@Mantis, I just lost some hair due to stress, hairs entangling and over-combing. I'm not prone to MPB so I don't think I'll ever go bald. I just want to restore some damaged hairs that is.

  11. Propecia has caused irreversible sexual dysfunction in thousands of men, just have a peek at propeciahelp.com. As far as I know there is no known cure for balding in any medical system, Eastern or Western. Asians are genetically less prone to balding, its not because of their lifestyles and diet. Its well documented on pubmed.

While there is literally an endless list of supplements purported to help if you're losing your hair now I'd just eventually learn to accept the fact that you will one day be bald. Life could be much worse than simply not having hair.

I never knew why people tend to see "Why can be so much worse" all the time as if the point is to suffer as much as possible ? Other than that I do agree that Finasteride sucks.

There is no such thing as feminizing drug as the same hormones play different roles in both sexes. This of course does not mean that injecting yourself with estrogen won't result in the upbringing of some feminine traits. For example too high estrogen will result in increased libido but erectile dysfunction in men, while increased testosterone in females will result in abnormal libido. Again it's a good thing to understand that libido and sexual performance are different matters. One of the main reasons for that is that estrogen receptors in both sexes are not symmetrical.
