  1. What do you think the world'll be like in 100 years?

hmmmm... different habits, same emotions. different views, same attachments. Looking back at the history of the last 5,000yrs, same things are going on, just new toys, habits changing world views, but same hang ups collectively. It would be nice for a whole world view change and interdependence-minded lifestyle to overtake the world. ... but hey, I'm dreaming. lol This is a great topic. I give it to my students in English class. They usually have no clue what to think. They ask me, and I tell them for me, 100 yrs later is the very next moment. Let's just ask what the world will be right before we die. HAHAHA And they just stare with tilted heads, and silence befalls the classroom. I think I will ask them the question again today. Perhaps I will need to bring tissues for the students... HAHAHA
  2. Mo Pai Nonsense

Like moths to a flame...you let it shine, and the freaks come out looking to suck you up. Hence why hiding the light is so important...passing it around when you find it necessary, and then hide it up again leaving everyone wondering where it came from... hahaha
  3. Greetings, and nice to meet you I personally only have a good friend in Canada, Oolong Rabbit, he is on this forum. He may have a better reference about someone as a good and wise adviser in cultivation; Qigong, Taiji Quan, etc. As for how to find one, I would advise to practice, diligently, what you already have, keep a humble heart and humble attitude, and keep your intentions set on attracting someone to you who can lead you to what you want, teach you what is necessary for your path. There is another way, but probably much too complicated. The above is the best I can tell you. I wouldn't say if its your fate, bla bla bla..that doesn't help anyone. lol Sorry I couldn't be of any more help. I apologize
  4. New Interview with sifu Lin Aiwei

You are very welcome! I hope it makes sense
  5. New Interview with sifu Lin Aiwei

Its not about attaining the right view per say, but more of not attaching to any views that may arise along the path. Because one is always trying to theorize about how things are, and or creating views (ideas) about how things are based on the states they reach, they end up inhibiting their progress due to believing that they got it, or something close to it. Many people do indeed search out the "super powers" of ancients, thinking that some spiritual ability is a marker for realization, or wisdom and or even immortality and Buddhahood. In fact, they are very wrong, and spiritual powers are good for nothing. When these spiritual powers, whatever they may be, are understood as being a response from the cultivator's diligent practice and nothing special, then the ability "attained" is a good one, but is no way a marker of a sage. The practice of β€œζ”ΎδΈ‹οΌŒζ”ΎδΈ‹β€ (fang xia, fang xia), or put down, put down; is indeed an important concept and practice. Anything that moves our mind, riles up our emotions and thoughts is a sign that we have attachments to such things, made views about them, and have never let them go. These things can hinder one's progress, and no matter how painful or happy the memories, or whatever one holds on to were, they still have to face them for what they are, and little by little, or right away, let them go. There is much in terms of "put down, or let it go" and can be a detailed discussion. It would be nice to have that discussion here. :-) So, I do agree with some things William Bodri says, and still would adjust some points as a commentary only because the mannerism of how the words are structured do not break through the questioning/discriminating mind of the readers.
  6. qigong for kidney yang deficiency ?

I did say this goes deeper than what the surface presents and does more than what most think they know. Anywho, the method I posted, if truly practiced, will be of great help. If not truly practiced, seek herbal medicine, and enjoy the ride.
  7. qigong for kidney yang deficiency ?

Perhaps its how the method is taught. When I learned it, back 13yrs ago, there was much in depth core methods attached to it. The basic postural, structural and application of concentration brings basic states and results of peace, warmth, energy, bright eyes, and a clearer complexion, with health benefits ranging from low level results to mid level results if praticed half heartedly. It can go deeper with long term results and lasting results if it is practiced as required to change one's health. If its practiced to the requirements, then it is profound , if it is just practiced here and there, even every day, but not going further than the above mentioned postural, structural practice, then not much would be gained. . The other part of the practice allows for a much more exchange, and refinement, so to say. Nourishing the kidney essence, revitalizing the other organs. Then it should go much deeper to start moving that refined energy throughout the body through will and intent, thus bringing it to the places needed in order to make the exercise fitting for further cultivation. It can go much deeper than what the surface presents. ***Added: The breath energize the body, we all know that. The application of this breath in this exercise, being that its the pressure from the breath, as well as the energy of the breath taken in, removes damp heat around the organs, focusing correctly it can get to the core of th eorgans and revitalize them from the inside out. In truth, it takes a lot of work, so please don't think I am making this easier than it is. Its not much the breath that is important, as it is what the breath carries that is. With concentration, we are trying to utilize that spark of energy within the breath, direct it to where we find it counts. Non-discriminating mind, sincere application of concentration, is needed to really go forward. Almost everyone I have met has had kidney energy deficiency in one way or another. When I was given food with spice, hot and spicy, it messed me up for a long while. Coupled with constant stress from running my own school, people trying to kill me, and ruin my work, along with teaching, lecturing, and community service..hahaha I taxed myself with very little time to practice resulting in kidney yin deficiency to a point of not able to stand up and work. HAHAHA But at the first sign of free time, I practiced and got things to a working state with qigong and herbs. The last 2 yrs have been great, more practice, things changed, and health restored. Herbal medicine, and Qigong practice, both together make a world of a difference. If herbal medicine is taken only, it will restore things to its physical capacity, and the sickness will not return, but diet and lifestyle must be changed. If only Qigong, diligently practice every day will bring health benefits and more, but it must be done "religiously" every day for at least 1 or more hours.. Both herbs and Qigong will make a world of a difference.
  8. qigong for kidney yang deficiency ?

Excuse me? Taiji Quan? Produce Qi? who said anything about Taiji Quan, and producing Qi? it can't be "produced" first of all, only directed, cultivated. Second of all, has anyone any clue as to the function of the exercise I posted? For your information, I gave this exercise to patients on kidney dialysis. They actually did the practice, which entailed a more deeper instruction. Guess what, they didn't need the dialysis , no medicine's after. I guess it was imagined and the lower back/abdominal breathing didn't work. Also, I have given Taiji Quan practice to be used for various conditions as well...I guess the people imagined their health getting better. Also, its not just breathing into that area, there is more of a mechanism at work here. That is why I ask if anyone has any idea as to the function of the exercise I posted. If anyone did, perhaps they would be practicing it, but since not at all, oh well. Nothing special about the book you referred to. If I relied on books for my information, I would have been dead a while ago.
  9. New Interview with sifu Lin Aiwei

To end birth and death: retention practices, practice refining essence and "cultivate" yang energy practices, balance out karma both good and bad with wholesome deeds in body mouth and mind, put down the ego, and rid the mind of defiling thoughts. Thank you for this conversation, it is very helpful and the topic is very important.
  10. New Interview with sifu Lin Aiwei

I understand what you are looking for Hence why a lengthy discussion on the direct method is needed. Nothing about living your life the best you can, for that will not help at all. It will take some time to write it out, the methods I mean, or even go into vast details, so, I would prefer to go into details on the show, but defintely we can start an exclusive thread perhaps...? Teachers.. I have not the slightest. But I would sincerely recommend the 6th Patriarch's Diamond Platform Sutra and the Shurangama Sutra, with commentary by Master Xuan Hua. I find it so odd how many can not find the cultivation methods within the sutras... its such in plain sight, and still they are disregarded.
  11. New Interview with sifu Lin Aiwei

I meant nothing about morals and psychology, and meant everything in terms of full "mind body and spirit" cultivation. I want to discuss it in the radio show, because so much to say, and no time to write. hahaha The direct method is meditation, is contemplation, is qigong practice. The expedients used may include meditation, contemplation, qigong practice, etc. Please don't take any offense to what I mean here, I mean no disrespect at all; your response to the direct method is exactly why there are expedient means. Its totally fine too, because that is exactly what is needed in our world...expedient means. Every action, every sitting, walking, standing, talking, running, lying, cooking, showering, sitting on the bowl, etc... is your method for ending birth and death right on the spot. Today we recorded another show, and the topic was Discerning the Profound in the mundane. Its a two part show, one is a monologue, and the second will be a discussion on the lecture. As for Qigong methods for ending birth and death, by the time the Qigong practice brings that result, one's family had already passed on, and the practitioner may be on their death bed. Who knows when one will end their cycle of b and d...only during their practice will they know.
  12. New Interview with sifu Lin Aiwei

I so want to go in depth right now, but all I can say in short is that there are direct methods to ending birth and death in one lifetime, and then the expedients which lead to the direct method. Here is the direct method: "Put down the ego, get rid of defiling thoughts." There are other direct methods, but I figure put one here that would be so simply written, but so disregarded, and mis-instructed, understood and difficult for the majority The expedients are everything else...some take the long road, while others take shorter long roads. Energy practices strenghten and refine your energy. The practicing of them, the process, builds concentration strength, thus leaving little oom for false thinking, desires, etc. But as long as the "I" remains, there is no ending of b and d. The direct method cuts through everything else.
  13. New Interview with sifu Lin Aiwei

WOW! Sure, but truthfully speaking, who would believe it, let alone actually practice it? Either way, great suggestion. It will be utilized. AMITUOFO

  15. The OFFICIAL Shifu Lin aka Micah aka Hern Hung.

hahaha i cleaned my house, fixed my changpao, breakfast, washed clothes, walked through the park and bought lunch.played with and fed my baby boy...feeding him again, and about to go out for another walk with the family. hahahaha
  16. qigong for kidney yang deficiency ?

Hey there! Perhaps: abdominal expansion, which includes the lower back expanding as well. Upon inhalation use the diaphragm to apply pressure to the abdomen, and as the abdomen expands, expand your lower back as though it is protruding out like the belly on inhalation. Do not use excessive force, just let it happen with the pressure applied from the diaphragm. Do this for about 2 minutes. Then, hod the breath for 3 secs, slowly exhale, and perform it again for 2 minutes. Repeat the whole process for 10 minutes. Then rest for 5mins, and then continue for another 10 minutes the same way as before. Then go about your day. Do it 3 times a day, for as long as you feel its necessary. Remember to keep your tongue to the roof of your mouth, and slightly contracct the anal muscles...slightly. Standing or sitting is fine, but lying down is good too. hahaha Lying down, you can feel if your lower back is expanding or not on the breath. Enjoy! But remember, its always better to get to an herbalist, and let him/her give you a specific formula for your kidneys, for there can be a butt load of other factors involved. This is only a practice of cultivation. Anyone can utilize it regardless of their health conditions....unless they are bleeding from their lower back, and their kidneys are protruding out from the L- spine area...lol Peace, Lin
  17. my zen/tao death poem thing?

I hope everything is healthy for you and wish you all the best of health and happy fuzzy positive thoughts. ---- Okay, just saw your post on good results. Happy!
  18. I don't know why there is so much wonder about setting your energy field 3ft or higher. That is kind of basic stuff. I learned that when I was in my early teens and refined it while learning Taiji Quan under Sifu Rudy Curry in Queens, NY. The practice for it is really easy, but just takes a person to diligently practice it...consistently. Then there are practices which one does to strengthen the will and intent as well as strengthen the field of energy being extended. Over the yrs I have refined it and worked on several different ways, which aren't very much different actually. hahaha I always say, when the time comes to actually have your life in danger, then the skill presents itself. That way, one doesn't get caught up in delusions of grandeur. On occasions, when I felt some drunkard was following me, I would extend my energy to the space around me and he would end up walking, confused about it, away from me while he was trying to walk towards me. Then I would contract the field and he would flow right back in my direction, and then when he got closer, I would send him out again. hahahaha I remember that day, the drunk guy's friend was across the street laughing his drunk butt off while this happened for about 3-5 minutes. Then I turned to the guy and said, Have a nice day! I work here (at the time I was working in a school in China, and he followed me with his friend, scheming on the strange looking white guy in Changpao.) Anyway, when I said good bye to him, I stopped playing with the field, and he stopped dead, looked at me and shook his head.. I over heard him telling his friend, what the hell was that...? I couldn't get near him..what the hell. Its no super power, and definitely nothing to be all in wonder about. Can I do it now? I don't know, I really haven't tried to do anything "different" in many years..no need to really. If anyone is interested, here you go. The first step, which can be the only step if you adjust the intent. haha Stand feet shoulder width apart, bend knees very slightly, pull down the tail bone to straighten the back, pull up the head by the crown and tuch the chin down slightly. Drop the chest at the sternum, just a bit. Tongue to the roof of mouth, and anal lock with slight, very slight, contraction, and keep it steady. Now the easy stuff: Hands to the sides of your body, palms facing your legs. Rock forward on your feet, slowly, and when you have your weight on the front toes, balls of feet, slowly rock back on to the heels, placing your weight on the heels, and maintaining balance, without falling over. Then, repeat forward and back. Do as long as you like, but no shorter than 10 minutes. HAHA Then, stop slowly, and center the weight in the center of the foot, letting the pressure move throughout the foot completely. Now rock side to side, but this time, do not lift your foot off the ground. When weight is at the left foot, outer side of the foot (lateral side), the pressure and weight on the right should be on the inner part of the right foot (medial side). Then, continue rocking slowly, back and forth. When you want to go back and forward, stop at the center, and settle the pressure, and then proceed. There are 8 directional rocking, and 1 directional extension and 1 directional expansion. If you want commentary on this practice, set up a thread and bring on the questions. BUT, such a practice, free of charge, so easy and simple, without vengeful spirits and what-nots, along with the only requirement of diligent practice, patience, and dropping the ego...I mean...who would actually do this? Oh, One More Thing! ( hahaha quoting the Jackie Chan Cartoon here)... Disclaimer: You may or may not feel something. i can not guarantee that you will indeed get any further on your own unless you maintain correspondence with me, free of charge too. Also, even with correspondence, I can not guarantee that you will indeed, most definitely be able to do things such as push people away who are trying to hurt you, move objects, fly, walk on water, fade into oblivion and then reappear...etc...and all those fun spiritual power thingies people dream about. I can guarantee that you will get the exact practices that I received, with the same intentions and strengthening of will, which in turn may allow you to realize this way of concentration (ability, but I like the way I say it better, lol) Whether or not you succeed at it is not up to me, but you, and the only way to know if you did get progress is to test it out. But it can only be done naturally. You can not fake your own inherent intuition to protect, and be compassionate. okay. There you go. I hope someone decides to play around with this and do something with it. I don't even bother with this anymore unless its for stopping negative energies from poisoning my family...like avian flu, or whatever...lol Enjoy!... take my words with a grain of salt...probably the tiniest. This practice will not harm you, that you can trust me in. It will not harm you, cause you to turn evil, transform into crazy munchkin eating smurfs...you get the point. Peace and Blessings, Lin (just Lin, Aiwei, or "That Guy"...not the in-question Shifu Lin) Since that Shifu Lin thread is so popular, I just want to make sure no one mistakes me for that guy. hahahahahahahaha
  19. On the contrary, in Chinese culture, a Shifu (sifu) is a father and a teacher. The actual characters don't signify "master" at all. εΈˆε‚… : someone skilled at something, and makes a living by it. 师爢 师-teacher, 爢- father. There is a saying which goes, One day a teacher, a lifetime a father. On the other hand, western ideas of teacher go very much into the emotional dependency/ I pay you, so teach me - mindset. I had a student for Wing Chun once who complained our mirrors were dirty. I smiled, got out the windex and paper towels, and told him to start wiping. He refused very bluntly and with arrogance, stating how he pays me tuition, and so his job is to simply practice what I teach, get what I know, and move on, not to clean. I replied very sternly and laughing, well, if that's how you assume, then you are definitely in the wrong place. I continued, look at your fellow brothers and sisters. Do you actually think they are here because they want what I know, or they are trying to show their diligence in practicing what I choose to give them? On the other hand, I personally don't need this school, the stress and the threats on my life because of this place. No its not truthfully a martial art school, but a cultivation school. Since you don't wish to cultivate being clean, leave. By the way, you pay me tuition so I can pay the rent and make your life comfortable. If I were actually making loads of money off my students, would I truthfully bother renting such a small place? Either clean the mirrors, or leave without a refund. Everyone urged him to clean, and he did. Then, he realized that a student's place isn't to get as much as possible from the teacher. It is to apply themselves as much as possible to what the teacher does give. Hence, why i don't charge for cultivation, and nowadays I don't even charge for my teaching Martial Arts..I think I have to update my English website on that one. hahaha I can't guarantee anyone's progression, because people are totally different in capacities, but I can guarantee they will understand how to figure it out on their own at some point. Money isn't buying powers, or realizations, or peace of mind. It would support my family but it most def will not guarantee my student's realization of enlightenment.
  20. 30 minute 30 day mentorships

I would love to see how others have been progressing since this thread started. I know that my practices offered are a bit intense, and have certain "requirements". Especially since I don't promote the gaining of powers and such..though those things will come with consistency in practice, etc. There are many ways to "skin" a cat...the only way to experience the deeper "things" is to really stick to one method. Anywho...wish to hear any progress from anyone. peace, Lin
  21. The OFFICIAL Shifu Lin aka Micah aka Hern Hung.

A few days ago, after practice, I saw a whole bunch of cinder blocks in my front yard. I took a large portion of a broken one, and put my wrist over it about an inch or so. THen deviated my wrist in a snapping motion, and the brick broke. I thought to myself, "What the hell? hahahahaha" Then my wife asked me why I was laughing. I then took a smaller portion of the one I broke, and held it up to her. She said, "Ha, you can't break that." I replied, "I didn't think I could, but hey, let's try just for fun." I did the same motion as before, and it broke so easy. We looked at each other, and laughed. Then I closely examined the cinder block...I found it to be dried up and weathered. HAHAHAHAHAHAHA I then said to my wife, "HA! I knew it. Its very most definitely the weathering the brick went through that allowed me to break it so easily." She replied, "That makes logical sense." I agreed, and we looked at the rest of the blocks. I took another, more cleaner piece, and tried to break it. It broke. We looked at each other a bit confused. I said to her, "Ok, lets prove this totally wrong, and use the bigger block. If I can break that one, you will definitely have to practice with me, if not, I will wash the dishes." She was hesitant, and then I smiled at her, winked at her. She smiled and said, "Go for it." I did the same thing before, effortlessly deviated the wrist over the brick... Later that night, I washed the dishes

Hmmm... a title of Fa Shi would signify this person is also a Buddhist Monk who lectures on the Sutras as well. I don't see anything of "Buddhist" here. Not to get involved in such a heated investigation, but I guess I am now, since there is no ruling body for any one with claims to specific lineages, why not just make a Taobums Cultivation Leaks...then do extensive research on those who claim to be what they are, and archive the info for cultivators to reference. Of course, it would and must be, un-biased. This way, everyone who has posted on this thread would not have to sit here and argue their points, and waste their energy. They could apply more time to practice and attaining the fruits of their efforts, thus being able to teach what they have to those in "need" I would be first to state, the only "lineage" I have is truly nothing. I learned through meditation, received teachings and methods through meditation, as well as met my teachers and guides along the way through meditation. As for my martial arts background, I would be very happy to say I personally, willingly, and ecstatically dis-associated due to back stabbing and nonsense. So, I don't claim lineage in the C.M.A. world. Neither could my ex-teacher, since someone in their old lineage never took discipleship with a said teacher. ..oops. Okay, so I wouldn't qualify for my own idea, but its all good. For those with a lineage claim, why not simply archive it, research, and then publish it in a "Taobums Cultivation Leaks" ... hahaha Like I said above, it would save all of us a lot of time, and perhaps we could apply ourselves harder in practice and start attaining the fruit of our efforts, teach each other, share, and become a model of cultivation, wholesome, and diverse, for those in the future. Peace and Blessings, Lin (not the "Shifu Lin" of discussion here, just Lin, or Aiwei, or ..."that guy")

  24. The OFFICIAL Shifu Lin aka Micah aka Hern Hung.

hahaha sticks and stones... very true. Take criticism with a happy smile, and praise with an unworthy frown. Qigong became a money making fad, and now its tiring to sift through all the mess, and inform the same masses who practiced the fluff about the truth. Master Xuan Hua said once in his commentary on the 6th Patriarch's Diamond Platform Sutra, "False, False, True. True, True, False" Meaning, nowadays people here the false so many times they think its true, yet when faced with the truth, they truly believe its false.
  25. The OFFICIAL Shifu Lin aka Micah aka Hern Hung.

HAHA Just like my ex-Wing Chun teacher who tried to character assassinate me after I closed my school, got the landlord to rent to him, and even paid his 1st month's rent. HAHAHA Him saying nasty terrible things behind my back to my students and friends for 3 yrs, and then when I close my school, claims to try and use all his power in the martial arts world to stop me from succeeding as a teacher. I confronted him, but he says nothing, only lied behind my back and then tries to lie to my face. HAHAHA Sad for him, the people he told all the lies to, called me and met with me telling me his nonsense. Confronting him again, he just has to make more lies.... I must be some competition for him.. HAHAHA On top of that, the gongfu brothers who claimed their support to me for all the years I knew them, especially when I opened my own school, became quiet, and did nothing to "help" things for the better... In situations like this, it is so much better to not start them. If there is a need to character assassinate someone, understand the problem is truly in your own mind and heart. Talking bad about people is just a sign of ignorance and arrogance, covering up the inability to do what they do, and the envy that burns inside. Peace and Blessings, Lin p.s.: not Shifu Lin of Mopai...or whatever :-) just Lin
