  1. Taboos

A taboo is a guideline only if it makes sense to the purpose of one's daily living and cultivation. If it is harmful, don't entertain it. Others who do not know of certain things will not see the significance in holding a guidelinefor certain practices. Each higher level has a certain manner inwhich cultivation must go in a certain way. It is the technique of using limitation to erradicate all limitations. This is why one will need a teacher for cultivation. One can become brainwashed by their own guidelines if there is no one there to guide them, wether in physical body or not. Morals keep the mind in the light of proper thinking. Proper thinking in terms of being a good person, selfless, compassionate, wise, patient, ...all these good mannerisms, and cultivation. If one were to disregard any form of restraint, it would just be inconsiderate, and unwise to do so. Though there are situations, conditions, and places for all sorts of mannerisms...when one is there, one must be wise enough to know which manner to work with. Cultivation, in any manner, should be on a foundation of Vows. Vows to oneself on their attaining the outcome, and assisting others to do the same. But following those vows are the most important. They are guidelines to keep the mind in a one pointedness of cultivation...which SHOULD be every moment...and not the intellectual kind of cultivation...of thinking and analyzing everything. Intellectual cultivation is simply putting a head ontop of another head. Use guidelines (whatever you wish to call them), show respect to what you cultivate and the objects you use, books you use, etc. But do not personally attach to them. Do not be moved by their destruction...for there is no production nor destruction. Peace and Happiness, Ai wei
  2. What is it that you pursue?

There is nowe. AndYes. Peace, AiWei
  3. Daoist Sexual Techniques

When urinating, practice stopping the urination 3-6 times during one ..urination. Do this till there is no more burning sensation, and no more slight pain from holding it in during mid.. urination. If you haven't done that then do it. After a time, you can begin practicing NOT EJACULATING during sex, and the bringing of the breath and essense (that which is the creator of semen (energy) ) to the dantian as well as to the brain, and etc... Fun stuff. Not easy, but fun, and not basic, nor advanced techniques.
  4. How often do you engage in stillness meditation?

Guan Yin Bodhisattva using forms as a means to teach living beings Buddhist Teachings. Wether in male or female body, plant, tree, animal, fish, etc, they are all expedient means to teach beings how to end the cycle of birth and death. People think its easy but its not.. hahaha Awakening isn't Complete pure enlightenment. It is only a stepping stone. One must still cultivate. Gaining wisdom does not come from understanding that which is male and female. Male and female are ideas, expedients to cultivate through to understand one's karma. Having a body is due to cause and effect.. haha Peace and Happiness, Aiwei
  5. Hi Every One, Its been a while since I was on the forum, due to the earthquake in Taiwan some time ago, I lost international internet access out here in China. But its all good now. Here's some news for you all. If you would like: I am working with a company in China which provides various schools and training centers in my city, Jinan, with English teachers. I have been friends with this company for a long time. They are very honest and really look to help the foreigner out in terms of negotioating contract terms with another school. My offer is this: If anyone is interested in coming out to China for some time to train in Martial Arts, mainly Wing Chun, Taiji Quan, Qigong, and cultivation such as Qigong/Neigong, Buddhism, and Daoist cultivation methods, (which I teach), let me know. I can offer you , or a number of you, teaching positions which will give you a fully furnished apartment, sometimes 2 bedroom, RENT FREE, sometimes utilities are free too, but they are not expensive anyway. Sponsored visa for 6 months or a year, whichever one you choose. The average salary is 1100rmb, about 120U.S. You will be making about 3500-6000rmb a month, depending on your qualifications. This way more than enough money to live out here actually, and given that you will not have to pay for rent and taxes, you will be very well off. Most schools offer free Chinese classes during the week. Qualifications are: TEFL degree, and or Bachelor's degree or above. Teaching experience is not necessary. 20-55yrs old, male or female and willing to be open minded when dealing with China.. hahaha My situation in teaching is as follows: I am free almost 5 days a weeks in the early mornings till late evenings. I donot charge a set tuition, so studying is basically free unless the student decides to give some money whenever they want. Nothing is fixed. My schedule is training in the early morning and in the evening when the students have time from their teaching schedule which is no more than about 4 classes a day, 5 days a week. That is the most actually. Teachers out here have a pretty relaxed time working actually. Here is the website of the company I am working with. It is legit, safe and they speak English too.. haha http://www.abroad4you.org/English/index.asp Peace and Happiness, Lin Ai Wei
  6. Teaching English and studying Cultivation/Martial Arts

Well, getting to know Daoist Masters and such isn't so easy. You have to know people who know the master, and then, gt introduced. They don't advertise themselves as masters, nor is it easy to find one through internet. There are reasons for that. Also, you would have to speak chinese if you are looking to learn anything at all. So, a year teaching and a year studying chinese, at the same time, would be a good plan. ALso, during that year you can search around on your free time to different mountains, and seek someone out, though it isn't easy, it may be a plan. During the year you can save some money to give to the teacher as well. They don't do it for free like the old days. I have met some, and unless they see something in you, they will not teach anything even for a fee. Come out here, get to know China a bit. Then, familiarity will be the best friend you ever have out here. Without it, a foreigner will get ripped off at every corner. Peace, Aiwei
  7. Taoist roots of Zen???

In Buddhism, there is reference for cultivating the Way (Dao) This cultivation is not different from that taught and described by Laozi. Buddhism recognized "Dao" before Buddhism reached China. Laozi only worded it specifically.. Buddhism is for direct cultivation towards attaining enlightenment. That means it doesn't really look towards heavenly and earthly rewards as Daoism does. Anywho.. I have no time to discuss right now.. more later. Peace and Happiness, Aiwei
  8. Open Discussion in NY

Hi Everyone, I am co hosting a small gathering this Saturday(see info below). It is basically a gathering requested to me by the head of this temple. I know this temple for many years, and have been there for sitting meditation (on my own). They are very welcoming and compassionate. Please read below, and if anyone is interested in coming down for an hour and a half, that would be great! It is free.. and there will be tea involved Fan Yin Temple At Fan Yin Temple located on 5601 Fort Hamilton Parkway in Brooklyn, we are hosting our first open English discussion group this Saturday,January 27th at 2pm. It is an open discussion, which means one can ask any questions they have about the cultivation school of Buddhism, and its role in our modern society. It will be a great opportunity to let Buddhism take a face that fits for American society and culture, as well as to understand the cultural differences of Chinese Buddhism. We will begin to learn where American culture and Buddhism come together. This group meeting will be the first of its kind in looking how Buddhism can adopt to the culture of America, as well as assist us at the temple in strengthening our understanding of what our society as a whole is wanting to move towards. Such a gathering will not be the only one, for every week there will be full English spoken meetings which will help us strengthen our English speaking skills so as to reach out to those who are interested in the Buddha Teachings. Topics can be any thing whatsoever, such as Discussing the differences between Buddhism, Daoism and other religious practices, Different Schools of Buddhism, Meditation: Chan (Zen), etc... We hope you can make it! It will be an open discussion over fine tea. Pleaseemail me to let us know you are coming: Lin Ai Wei [email protected]
  9. In New York

Hi Everyone, It has been a while since writing on the board. I couldn't get international websites in china due to the Taiwan earthquake 2 weeks or so ago. I am now in NY visiting family and students for 2 weeks. If anyone would like to met up for some tea and a chat, I am sure it would be fun. Peace and Happiness, Ai Wei
  10. In New York

I used to perform poetry reading at the International Film and Video Festival in Madison Square Garden back in 1997 and 98. It was filled with hundreds of artists and poets, producers from around the world. I did some small poetry readings for the Spiral magazine run by a woman named Emily Brown and also for some of her friends. Fun. I was young at that time.. 17, 18, 19. I still have that poetry which I was coming across in the attic of my father's house. It may be time to gather it all. In China town, there is a Buddhist Vegetarian Dumpling House on Pell Street I used to often go to. This is one suggestion. THere are also other places, but I am only familar with this one. haha It is off Mott street. I forgot the cross street name. Peace,

  12. Now never comes

PAst, present, future.. neither real, or not real. Perception makes it present, wether it be memory or wasteful wandering thoughts of the future. Now,...Because of the attachment to seeing, it is perceived of as passing, and not real. The same with Past and Future. Though the future effects of past causes have not been experienced in its "formal" manner, they have already been experienced by the one creating future causes. To create the cause is to know the effect. If one does not know their causes, one will not know their efects. They are just like sheep following the herder. One who knows causes, will know their effects(future), and thus is the sheep out of the flock. One who knows causes, yet is not greedy for delightful effects and utilizes the awakening of cause and effect to awaken others is not an ordinary sheep. I stick to the sheep analogy because it diverts one from feeling attacked in ego, being, personality, and life. Peace,

Greetings Every One, I would like to share with you some chapters of a manuscript for cultivation I have written. It is made up of 3 sections, but for now I would like to present chapters from the 1st section, for discussion, and for your personal use in cultivation. 8 To be still and moving is simple. Being simple becomes complicated at first. In center, of extreme or not, There is another center. In this place, there is yet another. Slow movement is not slow enough to stop time, and yet time is only perception, but exists not in conclusion of itself. Be conscious of what perception you are using to experience being still and moving, simple and complicated, extreme and center. Experience is the key, and accumulates over time. What manner is used to perceive of time? Who is experiencing?

5 Absence is the key to enlightenment. Enlightenment is the key to all being. In the consciousness of Being all, absence does not exist. There is no separation, hence, there is no superiority. Know that the Being who is all knows nothing. and one who knows nothing knows all. Therefore, one must realize but Drop perception. To perceive to know is to conclude in the moment. To perceive to know for that moment and release conclusion is progress.

A talisman of stillness is a reflection of the cultivator's mind. ;-) I use certain words to gather the attention, as people are more familiar, but I understand what you mean :-) Peace, Aiwei
  19. Microcosmic Orbit

There are cultivators much more advanced than he is. In the Daoist realm very high level masters do not want society to know they exist because it is more harmful to the people and to themselves. They mix into society. If one is looking for a genuine cultivator, seek Zhang Yi Xiang (Lily Siu), 64th Heavenly Master of Long Hu Shan located in Hawaii at the Tai Xuan foundation. Sometimes a highly skilled master is rght under our noses, and we can't tell because the cup is too full. Peace and Happiness to you all... Aiwei
  20. A Request for help

  21. Fu sheng wu liang tianzun

Very simple. Nice explanation for touching on the surface. Each realm has a particular vibration to it. A talisman is like a key...being able to tap into which ever realm one is moving through, and utilizing its energy/vibration for a cultivated one's proper intent. Takes cultivation to handle things properly, in this manner. peace,
  22. If you could Remake Master Mantak Chia's videos

THey are both to different schools, but can actually be worked together in the understanding that... One school of cultivation works for the cultivation of energy, and form, as well as working in line with fate, and a perceived will of heaven with cultivation methods that reach the celestial levels, yet are still subject to birth and death and karma. The other cultivates to end the cycle of birth and death as well as get out of the cycle of karma. Within that cultivation is the cultivation through wisdom and understanding, patience and compassion in cultivating to change mind, and if not successful in ending the cycle of birth and death, being reborn(in mind because that is all there is) in higher realms, heavens, celestial realms, etc... all to look to cultivate for Pure Complete Enlightenment. They both can be worked together, but one "escapes" the cycles of birth and death, karma. Immortality doesn't necessarily mean one ihas "attained" complete enlightened, nor does it mean they are not subject to birth and death, karmic retribution. The teachings of Daoism can lead one well into cultivation to high levels, and to work well in this realm. Each school of cultivation has a piece of the puzzle. Some pieces are more comlete than others in filling the puzzle, but others are complete for what they have. Peace,

  24. Traditional Chinese Clothing

I still have some pictures to post up. Yet as for Wudang style clothig, I don ot have any, and it cannot be bought in stores. Mainly Daoist robes and such can be purchased at Bai Yun Guan in Beijing. Some places would not give it to a non secular Daoist though. There are long robes that can be made, which are crossed over the chest, tied to the side, with the sleeves very very big. I like those...good for covering th ebody during meditation so as to not let wind creep in...also good as a means of keeping the mind concentrated. I will post more soon. As a reminder to everyone, I will be moving from my current residence within this month. I will begin taking orders in late january because it will be more convienient to do things that way, instead of movng the materials with me during this month. I will also be posting the price as soon as I get the cost for mailing all figured out. China has a different price for every city I have seen... haha Peace and Happiness,
