  1. Wim Hof's Meditation

Here's the video from Vice. Good stuff.
  2. I think this has been covered somewhere, but, from a practitioner standpoint, it is very beneficial to work with the DVD to begin with. I worked with the Gift of the Tao I dvd for a few months before attending my first seminar and I think it helped me to get more out of the workshop, but practicing on my own was not nearly as powerful as practicing in the workshop. You could, potentially, only work with the DVD, but I don't think you're maximizing the benefits of the system by doing that.
  3. The Magus Of Java

If it is your karma to find the instruction you seek, you will find it. If it isn't your karma, you won't. Keep in mind that you didn't get to this place on your own. You've had a lot of help along the way. Trust that you will continue to be guided along the path. Seek, but don't seek blindly for some ideal you're hung up on. Listen! Listen and look to see what the universe sends your way. You may discover something amazing, but entirely unlike what you set out to find.
  4. Juice: Radical Taiji Energetics

Mr. Chuckrow's article is an interesting read, but I don't think it is going to help me improve my push-hands technique. Just because you understand the vectors and equations doesn't mean you'll be able to feel them. Scott's content is more focused on getting you to understand the sort of sensations that indicate progress. It's more visceral than it is intellectual.
  5. Yi Chuan demonstration

Demonstrations like this make me wonder how much student cooperation is going on. Is he genuinely resisting? Would this demonstration not go so smoothly if it was done on some random martial arts students?
  6. Yi Chuan demonstration

Awesome! thanks for sharing. Scott Meredith recently wrote a blog post that covers this topic really well. He says, How do you do that? According to him, it is a simple, 4-step process. You can read the full post here. EDIT: to remove videos and add emphasis via bolded lines.
  7. Neidan vs Alchemy: The object vs The process

This should probably be pinned somewhere. Sums up a lot of discussions. It is nice to TRY and have discussions about these things, but it can be difficult and misunderstandings abound. I feel for the people who are trying to go it alone and I suppose an online community is better than no community at all, but you really need (not just a good teacher) but a good community of students for support.
  8. Yi Chuan demonstration

I thought this seemed like it was bordering on an example of empty force, but not quite. He is at least making contact, however light. I think Yi Chuan practitioners have some creepy-strong root strength, but I've never met anyone who could apply it like this. I've met some Aikido practitioners who could throw you with small movements, but this looks like almost no movement.

  10. Liu He Ba Fa Chuan (Water Boxing)

Hey! Thanks for posting the videos. I study with a student of Master Choi, but I have never had the pleasure to meet him or see him demonstrate the form. It's frustrating that you can't find a full demonstration video either, but he does demonstrate the second half of the form in this video: Are the Wu Yi Hui and Chen Yi Ren books only available in Chinese or are there English translations, do you know? Thanks!
  11. Liu He Ba Fa Chuan (Water Boxing)

Many thanks! I really impressed one of my classmates with this info.
  12. I remember there was mention of UFO-ish sightings in ancient Japan in Jacques Vallee's book, Passport to Magonia. An interesting book in general, if you're interested in the subject of UFOs.
  13. Liu He Ba Fa Chuan (Water Boxing)

Hey, thanks for the link! So this must be the 66 posture form?

  15. Kermit frog species discovered

My first thought was: "What if the collective unconsious manifested this new frog into the jungles of Costa Rica, because it likes Kermit so much?" Naaah
  16. What happens if we die?

Lots of interesting thoughts in this thread. Last year I read Michael Newton's book, Journey of Souls. He hypnotizes people and claims he can regress them into past lives and also into the time between lives. Hypnosis is a shaky foundation for this sort of investigation, but his findings are intriguing. Most of his subjects report very similar experiences, some of which are familiar. There is a sense of floating out of the body at the time of death and traveling through a tunnel into a bright light. Many souls are met by someone they knew in their life, they meet with their spiritual guide, and reunite with their spiritual 'family'. A life review takes place at some point and then preparation for the next life. It's interesting. I can't say I necessarily believe it, but I think it reinforces some basic ideas that I've believed for a long time--that we are connected to another level of existence. I suspect that no one can really KNOW what happens after death, because knowing is something unique to this life (I suspect). Any attempt at describing it would be like trying to paint the scenes of a movie. You're operating in a completely different medium with different tools.
  17. I agree 100% with what John stated: "Weight liftring is what you make it." When I was in high school, the football coach set us up on a weightlifting program but spent very little time teaching us proper form and technique, so it resulted in creating more injuries than it prevented. There are a lot of ways to heal abused and misused tissue, and qigong is one, but I've got to say that I think rolling it out with a foam roller or massage ball is probably your best bet. Kelly Starrett of mobilitywod.com also recommends "flossing" joints with big rubber bands. I can't comment on that, as I don't do it, but it might be worth looking into. Combine that with your movement practices and I think you'll start to see results quickly.

A couple of videos I've been watching for motivation:
  20. Akashic Record?

I love Rudolf Steiner but he is such a dry read. I don't know if it's just the translation from German, but it isn't something the average wife with a curiosity in the akashic record would appreciate. I would think she'd like Edgar Cayce stuff better. I've also seen a book called Science and the Akashic Field that looked interesting. (you can get it on Kindle here)
  21. Jing/Shen Gong?

This may just be a confusion of terms, but lately I keep coming across 'shen' gong. At first I thought this was a type of qi gong, but then I read that it is a dicipline strictly focused on mental/spiritual development. One of the texts I was reading stated that an initial shen gong exercise involved repeating the question "Who am I?" I was hoping someone here might be able to provide a more expanded definition of shen gong, or clarify how it is different from qi gong. Also, is there a jing gong as well? Is that a thing? I did a search for jing gong on google and found mostly hits for an airsoft gun company by that name. Searching that term on TTB returns mostly sexual cultivation threads. Could semen retention and sexual cultivation qigong be considered 'jing gong?'
