  1. Hey Cat,

I've been hesitating to throw this in here, because it seems trivial compared to all the pain in the world, but since you asked...

Deep pressure anywhere on my leg muscles has always been very painful. A couple years ago my rolfer was roto-rooting my legs, and it was incredibly painful, when suddenly it changed. The sensation was that he was just pushing a wave of deep thick energy up my leg. It didn't hurt at all. It was just very interesting. I'd been doing a lot of chi gung, and I had somehow shifted into an energy state instead of my usual consciousness. In that state, the work was not at all painful. The same thing happened at our next session. Somehow I shifted into that other state, and the deep leg work was just energy being moved. No pain. I thought I was done with bodywork pain, but the following session, I couldn't find that doorway, and the work was again painful.

Recently, it happened again, but this time, before the painful work, I was "in my chi mind" from meridian work that had put me in a strong chi state. Then the therapist moved to the back of a sore shoulder, and the pain brought me momentarily out of that chi state. But then I went back into the chi state, and the shoulder relaxed into the work amidst great waves of chi.

Anybody else have their pain shift into energy waves or surges? Tips or techniques for entering that state? Any relation to right/left brain function?

    Adeha

Brilliant! Thanks so much for sharing something real. I know what you mean about the doorway: once you move through it, resistance is dissolved and what was 'pain' is now something else: a phenomenon. The stuck energy shifts instead of is resisted. I think EFT works really well to open that doorway, to lower the resistance which sets up the kind of road block that we experience as pain. Idk if you know EFT.. the first thing it removes is our disaproval of self / withdrawal of self acceptance: so often when have pain or symptom we are annoyed with ourselves for 'falling from grace'.. and the negativity immediately makes the situation escalate.

About 'chi state' .. my first training was one in which 'enter qigong state' was an always and every time instruction, so that it became an instant thing one could do. It might help if one uses qigong standing stance, for as long as it takes, ie train to use that to signal to the body that it's full flow open time. At some point it's possible to do it mentally, the pathways become well worn.

One of the useful things I learned about pain is that it is never steady. It moves in waves. There will always be dips in the wave. Even when the pain is beyond what you think you can endure, it will ebb. You will get a chance to regroup, some. This is the way it moves.

  2. I would have to dig to find quotes, but the Idea that life [both spiritual and physical] Evolved through a series of stages, from less complex to more and more complex is a very old Idea. Its found in early Hermetic texts, Alchemy, the Illuminism stream of Sufism which is an Islamic branch of Neo Platonism, In places in Kabbalah, and hinted at in the Greek teachings.

This is not to suggest that they developed the theory in a great way, or collected empirical evidence, But Hermetisism sourced, Alchemy which gave birth to science.

Also, Hermetisism and its various offshoots, has a long tradition of trying to undermine the Church, and bring about a separation of church and State. Thats two things that modern science has picked up and ran with... lol.

Darwin and I share a belief in intelligent design that is completely contrary to the Christian Idea of it. Alchemists and Hermetisists Love science, as it is a process to understand the workings of the Divine in/through the world. I would never argue with evolution on any level, outside of being open to the possibility for new discovery's.

    Thanks Seth.

Got a bit involved in typing out some of Secret History :

"In the secret history the evolution of the species was not the even progress that science supposes. There were twists and turns that have important implications for the way we understand our own physiology and make up. There were dead ends, false starts and even deliberate attempts at sabotage. According to the secret doctrine animals evolved into the forms we are familiar with today, influenced by the stars and planets, lions by the constellation of Leo, for instance.. The cosmic plan was that all the world's biological forms would be gradually incorporated into humankind, which was intended to be the crown of all creation. As the gods led humanity closer to human anatomy as we now it, they assumed the part animal, part human forms remembered by the Sumerians, Egyptians, Babylonians, Persians, unitill they assumed the forms remembered by the ancient world, the Greeks and Romans... the goddess of the planet Venus was cow headed Hathor and Mercury was dog headed Anubis on the walls of Egyptian temples. According to secret tradition, these same gods, the same living beings, were remembered by classical Greeks in later, more evolved form.......In the secret history the last creatures to incarnate before humans were the apes. they came about because some human spirits rushed into incarnation too early, before human anatomy was perfected. In the secret history , therefore, it is not right to say that humans descended from apes, rather that apes represent a degeneration of humankind. "

Fascinating book, very fun to read, really recommend it to those who havent come across it yet.

  3. I had a lot of pain recently. I was told "look on the bright side, you're burning through a lot of karma", which foxed me right proper, because uuhh, did I volunteer to burn karma so painfully..no, not consciously. Am I a better person from having that pain, and all the pain I've had.. yes. More compassionate, more fully human. It extended my territories. As the pain of childbirth does. How did I cope with it? I became very quiet indeed and shut down to be alone with the pain, to feel the suffering full on, just to watch it 'what are you going to do now, pain?!' It needed space, clearly. It claimed it. I also wondered what I had done to create a situation that caused pain, so it was an opportunity for self examination of an urgent nature. Would I choose that kind of opportunity, not consciously, no. Would I choose to extend my territory? yes. Pain, and laughter, and love... treat them all the same? Part of the journey. Love more, because you know pain. Laugh more, because you know pain. Cry less, because you know pain.

  4. I'm sick, demented! I came unrepresented. I rose from the grave. I had a close shave

The cops tried to lock me down

    'Cause the Glock they found

    Was stolen

    That's how I'm rollin'

Shamans learn from the weather, but can't control it.

Politicians learn from the populace, but can't control it.

The Tao learns from Taoists, but does it exist.

    :D

People learn from cats but cant control them.

Cats learn from being stroked, and they love it.

The tao learns from love, and it exists.

  5. The use of the term "monkeys" in the modern day sense does not in any way describe our origin. The fossil records show that we descended from a type of simian that I believe was four legged. When I find the link, I will post it. The book referred to in the above quote, is not science.

Thanks Ralis. I know both those things you mentioned and I reckon so does Seth. I'm more interested in Hermetic and Alchemical ideas of origin than the mainstream ones, right now.

  6. Darwin was an Alchemist, which is a branch of Hermetisism.

Evolution of the species through more and more complex forms of Life, is an old Hermetic Idea.

    Darwin would have abhored Dwarkins.

Seth, I know you read "The Secret History of the World" by Johnathan Black... did you get the idea that we evolved from monkeys, when you read that? I wonder what your sense of it is.

  7. Yes.. the anger is what I have to learn to subdue.

The reason why I don't "express" is that I have misplaced anger. Like my professor says.. why get angry? Why not just shout? When shouting might be what one of the zang organs require... I forgot which one(s). So it just gives another perspective.

So it's not actually that telling someone "fuck you" is wrong.. it might be more so how you say it. If you project anger, that's insecurity. If you say it without the anger that is stronger, more balanced, and might work better than projecting anger which might just bounce back to you.

So until I can control my anger I am afraid of expressing... because I know it usually ends up biting me back in the ass... Regardless of when people say "dude do something about it"... because if I'm angry/frustrated/insecure there's no point in "doing"...

You can "do something" about it all you want but if you do it with the negative mindstate it will be counter-productive. But I fear too much...

I had a lot of anger response in me, very fiery, very volatile. The healing sounds helped me a lot, I used to vent liver sometimes just walking along the road, had to do it very regularly. They are very useful and fast acting in the moment, and offer a deeper balance, over the long term.

    Healing sounds

  8. Ive tried so hard to click my amygdala a number of times. Perhaps I just needed more consistency and just more practice.

I think I've gotten some effects similar to clicking but I never felt a "click" or a "pop".

more like being able to will adrenaline and exciting feelings rising to my head from my lower spine (conracting sorta).

Yes, you dont have to try so hard. Just r e l a x into it, enjoy tickling it and r e l a x.

  9. So cat, have you tried this?

looks interesting, but also "has the look" of one of those "just click here and for 49.99 all your problems are solved" type of thing LOL

but seriously, have you purchased it and vouch for it?

hi rookie, I have tried it and yes it works. I didnt purchase anything though, I just read how to click my amygdala, and did it. It's easy. It lifts your mood instantaneously.

Lately I've been listening to lectures by Todd Murphy on neuroscience and spirituality, one of the interesting things he pointed out which I didnt know is that the two side of the amygdala when stimulated create different feelings. One side creates a varying spectrum of response ranging from a sense that some presence is there with you, and degrees of that sensation, all the way to a full on sense of God, Bliss, Light, Divinity. The other side when stimulated creates a sense of fear and doom, a sense of impending calamity. Sooo interesting about the amount of people who get the "I found God" and at the same time start wearing sandwich boards reading "The end is Nigh"

I also heard, elsewhere, that an enlarged amygdala equates with a high level of creativity, and that enlarged amygdala is also often found amongst homosexuals.

  10. Bear in mind that the vast majority of taobums never need to be moderated by an external source, they actually do it themselves very beautifully. Thanks to all the members who use the board so productively, interestingly, and respectfully.

    :)

That leaves a few members who abuse their forum membership with multi handling, trolling, clique infighting, and insulting other members repeatedly.

    ;)

Apech has done a lot of tedious work moderating some very inapropriate use of the forum, and thanks go to him for doing it with such good grace. Thanks Apech.

  11. Yes, an old acquaintance was a sexual shaman and dominatrix. She used to require of her followers to place her picture on a sacred altar and masturbate to it. She would tell them how long to masturbate and when to ejaculate. Then she would sometimes have them eat their ejaculate as an offering to her.

She was their surrogate for the Goddess because they did not know how to admire and worship a goddess that was spirit. Eventually, they became accustomed to and trained enough so they could transfer their devotion to her to be devotion to the Goddess.

    :)

Some relationships /people can go straight to the point and see/feel/relate the divinity in their partner instinctively and organically have that flower within them..some not so fast.. all birthdays that lead to cake are good 'uns.:)

  12.

Or are too unaware to notice, especially when it is part of the culture to overly sexualize people.

One can offer the orgasm/ejaculate up to the goddess and see the pic as a representation of a goddess form.

It would make a nice reply video to the clip you quoted, to suggest the "offering to the goddess" way ... which isnt currently part of widespread awareness, but who knows.. it could well become so..:)

  13. Sorry there, your statement was difficult to relate to any specific subject in the OPs post so i made the wrong conclusion : )

The idea u just mentioned... is NOT common smile.gif

    _/\_

:D My statement referred to the idea put forward in ShaktiMama's clip, as well as her saying
