  1. I think somebody is doing black magic to me. If nobody else sees waiting for prapra.net while loading taobums.com

then it must be a sort of internet black magic.

Note that the site has a title named "I am"

This probably means to suggest to me that I am like that skull.

    What do you think?

This page always loads in the background before taobums.com

  2. Guided meditation?I dont belive thats real meditation. But its a start for setting up a meditation routine. You shouldnt expect to much from it.sorry, but you asked and thats my opinion.I would rather do standing meditation like zhan zhuang if I didnt like "normal" meditation

OK, you are right. I'll have to grow out of guided meditation.

  3. How would you know if the channels are open? By feeling? How do you know that feeling is a sign of good practice or bad?

When energy channels are open, you do not necessarily feel anything. Open energy channels are the natural state of the body. In fact, sometimes if you feel something from energy work it can mean that your channels are blocked. concentrate on your foundational training like standing postures and basic navel breathing and your channels will open as they should. There is no need to focus on energy channels or trying to open them. This can result in serious injury. If you are asking these kind of questions on an internet discussion forum, you need to be working with a teacher who will help you build your foundation.

If the channels are more open you feel so fresh and connected and light like you have a new body. How can this be bad?

But I understand your point that if you feel something like friction your channels are blocked.

    Thank you for your reply.

  4. Thank you all. Don't worry I have a teacher and he has given me a guided meditation CD recorded by himself.

He told me however best is to memorize it but I prefer the guided CD.

Are guided mediations less effective than otherwise?

About anapanasati, yes I know I used to practice it in the past but I don't like it. I prefer my current style of meditation and I'm not changing it. But thank you for your good will to help me.

  5. I have meditated and done energy work within a lucid dream. The energetic sensations inside the body are amplified 1000 fold, and it is easy to focus the mind with little mind noise (monkey mind).

It has happened to me some times in a dream that I dream I sit in a place and begin to meditate and the concentration seems really strong and the energetic feelings more than if I meditated during day.

I think I slept sitting up.

Does anyone know how to purposely cause this meditation dream? It happened to me by chance more than twice.

Otherwise, never meditate when you are sleepy because it's a waste of time. EXCEPT if you are only a bit sleepy which you can overcome after a few minutes you have began the meditation, in my experience.

I forgot that if you are not a beginner in meditation and the chi enters the head you may begin to feel a bit like sleepy. It's normal.

  6. Meditation is a quality over quantity game. For some ofcourse it may take 15 to 40 minutes just to ease up and get real work done..

But for a master compared to a novice, 5 minutes of a master's meditation does more work then 5 hours of a novice's meditation.

    Im convinced of this.

    ^_^ Hope it helped.

Very good point. Which means a novice should practice more.

  7. Hm yeah if a channel is completely closed I'd figure it's disease/severe illness.

On the other hand I like to think they're just less open the more severe a problem is. and yes you sort of have to maintain your practice, depending on the practice you've been doing.

It isn't very hard if you have a simple practice that keeps your channels from becoming stagnant, there are alot out there.

Also I'd say people in "modern" society have a very good chance of keeping their channels clean to a good degree. 10 to 15 minutes twice a day or so and you can feel great (by my experience).

That's to a simple degree ofcourse, if you're trying internal alchemy or something then more time is likely needed.

Well take the leg channels for instance. By meditation for 45 minutes I have merely a bit of response but they don't actually open. Whereas if I sit in full lotus for 2 hours I feel they are much more open.

So 2 hours meditation many people can't afford it every day...except if you go with less sleep. well.

  8. I dunno, I think my qi is just now starting to break through past my neck blockages after 1.5 years of daily meditation.. So, I'm thinking more in terms of months, not minutes...

I'm not saying there was zero qi flow before, but I believe it was crimped. And I believe it is opening up & increasing now..

Thank you for your input vortex. You answered very well exactly what I wanted to know.

  9. My question is: Once you have opened an energy channel, is it possible for it to close again?

If so, that's a disaster all the pain and meditation etc and it becomes clogged again if you stop practicing?

Is this true, or if you truly open it once it doesn't become blocked again?

Please tell me your personal experience in this regard?

I'm afraid modern people don't have consistently much time to practice so I hope at least the openings they achieve at a retreat aren't lost when he resumes ordinary daily schedule.

Please give me your opinions, experiences.

  10. nobody can tell you how long before your chi enters the head in such a way you feel it clearly.depends on your general health and the amount of practice.and off course you have to meditate correctly.

on the second question, yes that is very well possible, but with moore practice the energy will move in the spine also.just keep on meditating.

most importent is to practice 2 times a day min 20 min, every day to get a good progress.

And also doing zhan zhuang is very good, and can speed things up.but if only doing one thing keep on meditating.

Thanks sykkelpump. OK you're right there is no hard and fast time rule.

But I've heard that if you meditate less than 45 minutes you don't make significant progress is that true?

  11. Let me clarify my question.

I want to open the channels in the head. For that the chi must ascend to the head. So I ask: how long must one meditate for this to happen? 45 minutes? 2 hours?

Is it possible to meditate for 45 minutes correctly and chi not reach the head because the lower channels are clogged?

Does anyone have personal experience with sitting meditation?

Edit: what do you mean chi is always flowing? In the 12 meridians?

I mean in the tu mai and jen mai which are usually blocked, if I'm correct.

Actually are the yin chiao and yang chiao mai connected to the tu mai?

    Thank you

  12. Hello,

I have read the book by Master Nan - Huai Chin Tao and Longevity where he describes the physical effects of meditation and the movement of chi along the tu mai and jen mai.

My question is: from your experience how long must one meditate for the chi to enter the head?

I meditate for 45 minutes but I think it is not enough.

When the chi enters the head don't you feel a calming of the mind? Or do you see visions?

My second question is: For a beginner whose energy channels are not open, is it possible that although he meditates well, the energy is still flowing in the legs and doesn't come up the spine?

Generally for serious meditation is 45 minutes enough?

    Thank you all

  13. Hello all members,

I am a young person who is interested in Buddhism and Taoism and specifically in meditation and healing, siddhis and enlightenment. Also like vajrayana and love mantras. I would like to learn from others experiences. I have a teacher but anyway I don't have many friends interested in meditation.
