  1. Hi Kalidastony,

Thank you for your short and sweet evaluation of Flying Phoenix Chi Kung and comparison with the other systems you have also practiced. There is nothing more gratifying for teachers like myself and Sifu Hearfield than to hear practitioners feel rejuvenated, get fast relief, conquer stress, heal from ailments, and otherwise derive the universally-experienced benefits of FPCK practice--for that means that the practitioner has done the work--the gong in the Qigong, and the Qi (in our case a very specific FP energy) has manifested and producing healthful, stress-eliminating results.

Good work, Kalidastony, and keep us appraised of your new FPCK experiences, and of course, post any questions that might arise along the way.

Pleasant journeying on the wings of the Phoenix.

    FPCK folks:

Really good to see other practicioners' comments. Here are some observations, if they appeal to you try them otherwise ignore . I am a 30+ tai chi player. Many of the initial experiences and teachings, which initially rather baffled me have come clear in 18 months. Plus two session with Sifu Terry Dunn.

My observations/experience> Rooting: the long form weight shift in various movements, cradling eg., moving right the left heel digs in consciously move your intention to the opposite side heel as you shift weight, this really improves balance and rooting. Breath: moving your breath with though not locked to, your movement. Awareness of breath while moving deepens the practice and heals all wounds . Posture: downward motion of the hands leads to stretching of the spine and energy flow along it. Do not be surprised by sudden, small pops along the spine as you make these movements.

Do the form slowly, I think Sifu Terry suggest working toward half the speed of Tai Chi form. I am closing in on this goal. It pushed me through a plateau I was on.

I do the form twice daily, along with a silk reeling work out and either of Tai Chi Chuan yang long form or shorter pieces, such as the 5 short fpck forms or 8 pieces of brocade.

Looking forward to reading this forum and your experience with chi kung, tai chi and especially FPCK

  3. I second Fu dog's comments: Daily practice over long periods yields positive energy returns. I try to do two sessions a day early (5 am) and afternoon (3 pm). As a septuagenarian, I was losing some balance and had BP issues. FPCH definitely improved both issues. It is increasingly clear that joints and tendons are 'softening' with practice. The breath work now causes subtle pops and releases in my spine. My sense of rooting has improved. Some of the weight shifting left or right shows up as pressure in the opposite heel, that is a better balance, deeper root.

If you begin the FPCH, results will accumulate in your physical well being.

The balance and psychological benefits are more difficult to explain. Dualism slips away. Peace grows.

  4. dear leviticus,

i also do some hand energy transfer after a session, both to my heart/esophagus/pyloric valve GERD related, and to my face? Frankly I do not remember why i do the little face massage, maybe a long ago chi gong class?

Don't worry too much about what follows what, the possibility of cause and effect. Instead just observe what is happening.

If it is true cause and effect I usually recognize that slowly over time and repeated observation.

Mainly just enjoy the new awarenesses!

  5. More: i had high blood pressure 2 years ago ... doctor prescribed beta blockers, which I used until I had been doing FPCH long form about 4 months my BP dropped below 100/80 from 150/100. I stopped the meds and have been running 115/85 ever since. Today it was 103/82. I also had some GERD issues which I took several sequences of omeprazol..but gave up the meds and have had no more problems for nearly a year. (I do sometimes take antacid / omeprazol, but much less often). I am now medicine free.

I am not recommending going without seeing a doctor or going off meds. Be advised I am NOT anti western med and am somewhat skeptical of all alternative medicines. This is just my experience. I do think FPCH is positive, active, self responsibility for my own health.

  6. Good story....Kudos to Charlie (ridingtheox) for his observation discovered from his personal practice. This is good info for the board.

So twice a day of the FP long form - and he's still gaining benefits. Very cool!

Hello all, Just to confirm the observations. I have done tai chi for 30 years, some little teaching in New Orleans, but have been isolated in Cascabel AZ for 15years. I had Terry's tape of long form Yang style for years. So I thought I would give FPCH a try. Even before the full form was learned I felt old blockages which quickly began to dissolve. Over the first 6 months, I noticed lots of saliva formed. Numerous stiff tendons popped and buzzed with renewed flexibility. I have continued to experience opening awareness of rooting, dan tien warming, breath quality. My sense of smell opened. I tend to practice early in the morning 5 am.

Ok another issue is I am now 71 and my immune system seems to have improved. Almost everyone in our community came down with a 5 day, serious flu like illness. I was well exposed, but never contracted the thing!

At some point I inquired about learning the form on the left side ie., mirror image form. I refer to it as the yin long form ... I have a really strong right handedness which I feel doing this form has helped to balance. If i were younger I think it might have been even more useful. Anyway This form just continues to surprise and energise this old ****!

I tend to do the mirror style later in the day afternoon or early evening. Thus harmonizing the yang of morning with right side and yin of afternoon with the left side. Play with it, experience the flow, breathe into it. It just continues to open.

  7. my chi gung approach is gentle nodding while breathing into the base of skull ( physiological and psychological )

remember never do more than 70% of the motion which leads to real pain. discount mild discomfort. try to find the balance between pain and discomfort, in other words.

to begin lie on a hard surface with a rug / firm mat. pay attention to your head/neck stretching very slowly as you breathe. Feels as if you are extending the head making the neck longer and straighter. Breathe into this.

then do some standing with your spine and back of head flattening against the wall ... gently no pain.

turn the head slowly left and right slowly breathing.

nod the head. bend your head left and rght as if trying to touch your ears to your shoulders. the image that is of course you won't go past the pain point.

do this set of exercises for about 12 min total. twice a day. 10 days.

if this does not improve see a medical doctor. necks and spines are not to be trivialized.

  8. Hi Somamech,

Thanks for update and report of your progress and breakthroughs in meditation.

Your seeing blue with eyes closed in FP meditation is a common experience in practicing this system.

As stated in much earlier posts, when practiced on a regular basis for many months or until one feels the tangible reserve of the FP energy constantly in one's body, a video camera (especially all the modern HD cameras, including the Flipcam) will record a blue-ish aura. The blue aura just comes and goes and varies in intensity when you do various FP meditations. I have video footage of GM Doo Wai when he was demonstrating and teaching me the more advanced seated meditations in the early 1990's where his aura turned the brightest and pure-flourescent-yet-dark-blue (somewhat like the color of certain sportscars' dashboard displays at night) and then the aura momentarily expanded to fill the entire space around the grandmaster, and the blue aura momentarily turned opaque so that the normal background and details of the surroundings in the room were no longer visible.

When one is well-cultivated and does healing with the FP energy, a subject will sometimes "light up" internally with the transference of the FP healing energy and see the radiant blue with his or her eyes closed.

There is yet another means of imparting the "seeing" of blue light to another person that I will disclose when you or another contributor report that you've had a certain yogic experience that will appropriately trigger my disclosure. ;)

Your report of "seeing blue" has led me to respond with this forecast/hint of how delightfully blue life can get with the Flying Phoenix Qigong. But don't take my word for it. Practice, practice, practice, and find out for yourself.

    Enjoy your discoveries,

    Sifu Terry Dunn

P.S. And thanks for posting this blue video of Clair de Lune. Although it's hard to get (try amazon), I want to recommend B.J. Cole's CD called "Transparent Music" that came out in the early 80's or so. He is a phenomenal English pedal-steel guitarist who does radical yet sublime versions of Debussy and Satie classics. You've never heard Gnoissienne #3 and G#5 until you've heard B.J. Cole's. Here is link to info on his CD's (they're all excellent, but "Transparent Music" is incomparable for meditation and Qigong.

P.S. And thanks very much for visiting www.kungufpanda.lawsuit.com, taking the "panda poll" at the bottom and for circulating the link to all your contacts.

  9. finally I think I have figured out how to get on here :D

Here is a little about me before I put my question out there.

I am 70 have been practicing some forms of Tai Chi and Chi Kung since 1976. Even taught some basic short and long forms in New Orleans in the '80s. for the last 15 years i have been a rancher in SE Arizona desert. So I have had little contact with other practicioners. Ranching is an everyday job for me. Now I find myself with some new help and a little more time so I am doing more tai chi chi kung.

Recently, I bought the long form FPCK disk. It was immediately so powerful I have done it 2x daily. I also do some standing and a wu dang sitting meditation.

The form has loosened every joint in my body ( my back pops during practice in subtle ways as do shoulders etc. ) The form was immediately felt during the learning phase and increased energetics continue.

So recently I bought the 5 short form disk and have started learning those. Again I am amazed at the feelings and energetics at the early stages.

My question is: how do I schedule these practices? I am doing long form at dawn and early evening, before bed actually. And i try to do Tai chi during the day sometime between chasing cows and repairing old pickup trucks.

When and how do I do the short forms? should I do all 5 in one session or should I space them out.

ok that's it for now. Thanks to Empty Water and wtm for pointing me to this thread.

    peace

is not a destination it is the way

  10. Welcome Mr T!, I resemble that name! That's my Dads nickname for me ... HaHaHa! Anyways, welcome to the forum. Sounds like you have a lot of experience in the cultivation, looking forward to you sharing your views

    Cheers,

  11. New today, tai chi / chi kung practicioner of some years have been living in Cascabel AZ for 15 years, so i am isolated from most groups. I am a rancher of sorts. May have time to visit here but never certain how busy I will be.

hope to make some connections get some practice encouragement etc. Right now I am 60 days into a taoist daily meditation on the microcosmic orbit.
