I try to do 7 reps and have done 8's and 9's on the shorter Advanced Seated Meditations, to no apparent ill effects. I admit to occasionally doing fewer than 7, also to no apparent ill effect. The important thing for me to remember is the three clearing breaths at the end. It has also been my experience that reviewing the disc can be very beneficial even after practicing for many weeks. It occurs that I see something that did not register deeply enough. I have had very intense qi sensations while watching and imitating Sifu on more than one occasion. That experience also seems to follow into succeeding practices of the forms. thanks again to Sifu for presenting this material so clearly and openly. and for his frequent timely responses to questions on this thread.
  2. Meat

meat: i have been a small cooperative rancher, raising free range beef no steroid feed mostly grass and browse fed. I have read a bit about it and feel I am quite justified in saying our beef is good for you. It is not easy to find small owner rancher who hope to have a quality safe and drug free product for sale, but not impossible! I hope to handle our cows and steers with respect and consider them partners in life. They play an important role in helping us to manage land so as not to over graze or simply extract all we can from the land in the short run. to I eat our beef, but not to exclusion or in my opinion excess. It is not always easy to rationalize this position, but I have no doubt that I have given extensive time and meditation to the position I take regarding food. Peace

after three years of practice I feel cheated because I never have the blue light .. LOL I see lots of green lights, red lights (mostly when driving) .. Once I thought I had a purple light but that was illusory. for those how have it good for you ... as for me in fact I do not feel cheated just lucky to come upon FP today's long form 26 + minutes yesterday ASM 2 & 3 .... very intense sensations in fingers, wrists and internal 'circulation' of dantian qi ... After a lapse of some years I have also re-established a strong almost continuous buzz/vibration at the Bai Hui during execution of the ASM's hopefully meng min vibes will also return soon!! Peace to all beings

practice a little sparse so far today , a long trip to town and back driving too much in traffic however< early this morning did the mirror image of long form vol. 4 27 min and early evening the normal style .. vol 4 26 min and the qi just keeps buzzingggggg

I do not reverse hand positions for the most part ... following the males right over left on the dan tien idea. However, sometimes the yin feeling of the form does feel more like reversing the hand positions. I do reverse if the 'qi' seems to have a strong leading to do so .... this is not often. Early on I tried alternating hand position when I did the mirror image, (and worried about it a good deal). At this point the qi almost always directs the position.

tao stillness, I learned vietnamese another oriental language it is my impression (one instructor was chinese heritage) that d is an unaspirated t that is there is no puff of breath, but the tounge position is the same. Therefore in vietnamese and I suspect chinese whether on aspirates or not is a function of local speech habits ... therefore tao and dao are the same in the wider language region. as westerners we often do not pronounce many sounds 'correctly' and even correctly is complex peace

have had more mirror practice both sides have ramped up. a break through after a long pleasant plateau. sometimes we get stuck because the form seems to be working very well, in this case practice on both sides intensified chi noticeably on each side with each alternation. A couple of days doing mirror then when I switched back to normal, there was a surprize with that practice. Moving back to left (mirror) side again intensified. Then I had a couple of rather routine practices untll this morning's normal side ... big energy surge ... Also my TCC practice intensity has increased. And finally the standing still nei gong I do occasionally ... so now i expect a plateau soon LOL

I too have used visualization to good effect ... once you have established the physical response awareness it proved very useful. On the other hand let me warn people that if they are of the 'too much in the head' type (me and many of my scientific colleagues). Visualization can be confused with mental imaging,, which in turn can be counterproductive. People like me find it difficult to move into 'body wisdom, knowledge mode'. So there is a potential problem for some people...

tea ... Jaio gu Lan seems like a broad tonic that I tolerate well it's stimulative property effects me intermittently mirror image 4 ... this morning 24 min practice, the prior practices had been < 20 hence about 5 min less than the usual right side practice so now the left side nearly = right side have now done mirror 4 times last 6 days Peace to all creatures (creation)
  14. Flying Phoenix Chi Kung

hello all, briefly I have done volume 4 long form 'mirror image' from time to time as my left hand is always different than right. So mirror image seems a balancing process. It has been a long time since I did Mirror long form, however, the last two days I have done as the first morning exercise early. Both times I have had very intense qi flow, lots of saliva generated and buzzing at bai hue crown point. have a good weekend and practice with focus and intent BREATHE

Cant wait to get many more days , weeks , months and years of FP energy practice as I can only imagine where it takes you ! hmmm ... curb your enthusiasm ... can't wait? Yes the long term is what we invest our practice in. qi gong implies a long term 'practice' not a hurry up get 'er dun when thinking about FPCH it helps to have a long term commitment. Your early perceptions certainly agree with my experience over the last 4 with the qi gong FPCK. if I might suggest a frame to consider might more likely be a commitment to practice daily for 100 days. Take your time to engage deeply with each meditation Sifu Dunn has presented. The journey is more important than the objective in many respects. Cultivate qi with each practice. However, do not be surprised by occasional 'plateaus' or even declines in progress. Every day just practice. Make the time. The rewards are there. Peace

oops long form TCC by Sifu Dunn
  17. Flying Phoenix Chi Kung

... and I repeat FP meditations and especially the long form continue to surprise me as the intensity of awareness of qi increases. Recently I think I reported here I have had several powerful practices that left me at a loss to believe! One item the tinnitus i had hoped would respond to FPCH does not seem to ... finally I seem to have lost my long form disk which i use for reference mostly

i have been doing long form for 3 years, when I met Sifu Dunn we did it together in the Goose Egg park he led the breathing as 90 60 5 50 40 ... I had been doing it that way for over a year and surely would have noticed the change ?? as to the breath I notice lots of concern about lengths and counts I suggest a metronome or as a beginning effort just an old fashioned clock that ticks loudly. That helps to maintain the rhythm and timing of the counts. Over the years I have worked on slowing and deepening the breathing during TCC and QC exercises. The rate of performance of any of the meditations I let the breath guide me. The more I can meditate (concentrate) on the breath the more intense the feeling of qi and the more cultivation of qi in dan tien. Doing the forms too slowly at first when not associated with deep natural breathing has always seemed to miss the mark. The whole point being to cultivate qi, to cultivate awareness of one's own qi. peace

  25. having a great challenge to get to this page and document my practice ... have not missed a day although some days have been somewhat light since I have had a sinus thing now if only all this practice stopped the rhinitis susceptibility i have had all my life ) my last few days have included Adv Seated FP 1, 2, 3, and 4 disk 7. Zhan Zhuang of 1 hour duration plus two shorter 35 and 45 min sessions. TCC teaching class 2 50 min sessions. Ba Duan Chin daily practice including one session of 8 reps each at slow speed (28 min duration) otherwise normally 12 minute. The long form FPCH disk 4 has suddenly moved from about 20 min to >26 min almost always first thing in the morning. Practice of some healing after Master Yun Xiang Tseng seated ... Today I completed one 15 min route of Daoyin Yangsheng gong progressively breath length has expanded to 20-25 sec cycle, flow in both TCC and FPCH has also jumped intensity level if that says anything .. thanks again for this forum
