  1. Yes, the patenting of ancient compounds has been going on for years.

Umm ... I'm pretty sure you can go to any herbalist with a good amount of knowledge and they will be able to tell you.

I will consult my library too. Seems this data is "off the web" as it were. I'd be interested in writing up a Wikipedia page ...

Did you come across ''forbidden rice" too ??

  2. you still haven't answered any questions. Whom are you messenger for?

What gives you the right to give this "warning?"

Be a man and back up what you say and stop hiding behind your false humility...

I was sent by and for those with True Knowledge to give a voice to the poor, the downtrodden, and the dispossessed.

The way of eternal life need not be commodified. The knowledge of its acquisition need not be quarantined and embargoed.

No amount of money will buy you the knowledge which affects your ascendance. The technique you will charge for carries no power.

No secret will save you or preserve the strength of your incantations. True strength is symptomatic of the collective imperium, not the individual will UNLESS it is written in water. Mystery will not insulate your techniques from the failure intrinsic to them AS TECHNIQUES.

You are QUITE SURE of yourself, fiveelement"tao" ... the wade-giles transliteration underlines your obliviousness. I am sorry to venture upon insult but you initiated such a low level exchange.

Your methods that have been written into stone will be broken into dust by the wind of the dao, young one. Your modes will be outmoded. Your practice rendered obsolete. You must return to the source and remember the truth if you are to progress.

    This is my humble opinion.

I give you a final warning: for you who CHARGE people the money of their life for the teaching which is their birthright - you will be hung out to dry in the wind of the dao. Your pattern will be unravelled by the force of that wind and you will be made to pay back all that you have stolen in your passive and wicked way.

All who know and seek truth will agree.

    I wish you luck,

    Ben

  3. I tend to agree. I try to stay as far away as possible & refuse to study from any master who charges large sums of money (anything more then a red envelope). Its just impossible to develop a true master-student relationship on this basis.

If these teachers need money then get off your ass & get a job like the rest of us !!!

    Quite right.

So, maybe your teachers should pay YOU? I am amazed that people think that they are doing teachers a favor by allowing them to teach. This is a very westernized concept. In the traditional way, you had to bust your ass, to get anyone to teach you. You not only paid money, you gave up your career and life if necessary and became their personal servants. we don't have to do that anymore... Paying a few dollars is nothing compared to what it cost to learn in times past... People are now teaching their hard earned skills for sometimes only $10 or $15 a class and you feel you are getting ripped off!

I suppose you feel your doctor, plumber, builder, dentist should go and "Get off their ass and get a job" and then come and help you in their spare time for FREE?

Of course not. Hey idiot! Teaching IS their job, you moron. If you don't want to pay anything to learn a priceless art, then don't! You don't deserve to be a student if that is your attitude.

    (Harumph!)

I am afraid I have hit the nerve with you, fiveelementtao.

Apologies for any discomfort this has caused you.

    That is all.

    Ben

  4. Has anyone heard about the Sufi master who can make water that has the ability to unpollute polluted rivers etc?

I've heard of the Emoto water crystal studies .. thing is none of his experiments were done double-blind so all he has to go on is his n of 1. I'd like to see more scientists follow Emoto's method and see what results they get.

Emoto's credentials have also been regarded as suspect. Awarding himself his own degrees through the university that he founded and such.

  5. Do you think money really corrupts? If money is merely a neutral commodity what is it that really is doing the corrupting?

What do you think money is really?

What is the real currency for the exchange of knowledge?

Why on earth would you say that someone would burn in a terrible fire? Why do you think you have the authority to say such a thing?

Do you think being 'against' something is in any way productive or useful?

If we abolish money, what practical alternative do you suggest that could be implemented worldwide in the next 5 years?

You have many questions and I am afraid I have no answers. I am but a humble messenger.

    My apologies,

    Ben

  6. To all who would seek to charge money for the knowledge of the various ways I bring to you a warning:

Make not a business of knowledge. If you do not stop seeking money in exchange for the information you possess you shall perish in a terrible fire.

The time has come for the knowledge to be made free, rightfully as it is; purely as it will remain. Unsullied by the forces of monetary corruption.

You cannot stop this as it is destiny.

    Good luck.

    Ben

  7. Hi, considering that time for practice is limited and that we spent a lot of time sleeping, the silly question came to my mind whether it is possible to enhance sleep so that it becomes practice.

In one of Yogananda's lesson he says that sleep is the time when each of us unconsciously becomes a yogi. And he didn't rate it as particularly useful in spiritual practice because it's unconscious. But he didn't provide any method to enhance sleep to become practice. He only describes a method to induce dreams.

Anybody has ideas on how to use sleep as practice/meditation? Quiet practice/meditation of course, I wouldn't like to shake while sleeping... ;)

    Cheers

  8. Hi,

I have never met anyone still in body who could fly. SO I can't address that part of your question.

I do, however, know running qigong. It has 4 aspects: Lightness technique, stamina technique, swiftness technique, Qi-Pushing up a hill technique, and a separate scare-off-wild-animals technique. It was one of the methods that the Taoists used to cross great distances in the past.

At the time I learned it I though it was important to know. Now I really question the need. As an intellectual exercise? My advice would be to forget it. Way too much trouble. It always boils down as to (why?). What greater good comes from learning this? I am not questioning your motive, simply writing my perspective.

I understand what you are saying. The philosophical basis for such a practice (the internal cultivation) is ABSOLUTELY INTEGRAL. It is the foundation stone.

If the idea is not correct ... the approach vector not sure ... the chemicals in the brain are offset and the entire endeavor will come to nothing.

You are correct. It is best to have GOOD REASON to do ANYTHING.

  9. vegetarian

did you vote TTT? Please use the poll function to vote. Ty

    No-restrictavore.

please vote yourself as a carnivore. ty

I was a strict vegetarian for several years when I began my training in the spiritual practices of Qigong.

However, the last five years I have begun to eat fish and some seafood; the term for this is Pescetarianism or pesco-vegetarian.

Some of the Taijiquan masters I met in Beijing also ate meat, smoked and drank alcohol yet they were very, very skilled in Taijiquan. So I figured I wouldn't be too strict with myself!

    please vote carnivore. ty

I've gone ova/lacta vegetarian but I eat bacon on the Lords day because if he didn't want us eating bacon He wouldn't have made it taste crazy awesome!

EDIT: I was vegetarian from 1988-2000 with very little cheating.

can you vote vegetarian except meat 2-3 years?

    ty

  10. I meant no offense to you, mwight. B) I just don't like how everyday there's this new "scientific" discovery that is supposedly the golden ticket. It's almost always based on hardly any research, and almost always dangerous if taken seriously.

Nothing in and of itself is THE golden ticket .. except THE GOLDEN TICKET. heh ... if that makes ANY sense.

Er ... let me rephrase as I'm among fellow daoists ..

the golden ticket that is said to be the golden ticket is not the unchanging eternal golden ticket ;-)

Anyway ... these studies and scientific discoveries are meant to be taken in relation to the rest of the phenomenal universe.

See them in their degree ... not for more, not for less than what they are.

  11. Hey Darin,

That is interesting that you say that. A friend of mine, Amadeus the Stampede (daoist and rapper from Boston) have had discussions of flight and there were two points he brought to bear. One I can remember at the moment one I can't and it's directly related to your Crowley reference. Amadeus stated that if you could flex every muscle in your body (and this lends itself to desert eagle's reference in the other 'What is Dao' thread speaking about learning to move with the stomach and intestinal tract) that you would be able to achieve flight.

I'll inquire with him as to what the secondary point was as I feel it is germane to this discussion.

    Cheers,

    Worldpeace,

    Ben

  12. astragalus has no resveratrol, sorry for the misunderstanding I kind of listed those two things too closely together.

resveratrol however is a phytoalexin which is a component of plant immune response so actually I might be speaking too soon.

there could be resveratrol in astragalus after all!

  13. LOL Darin! You always want to know how old people are! I am older than you! That is all you need to know :)

As far as flight is concerned, yes you're right ... Saint Joseph of Cupertino was reported to have flown.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Joseph_of_Cupertino

There is the work of the Yogic flyers

Tales of Peter Pan and magic persian rugs. Birds who have cryptochromes in their eyes which allow them to "see" magnetic fields: http://www.ks.uiuc.edu/Research/cryptochrome/

So on and so forth ..

There is also documented evidence to suggest that Tibetan monks have levitated stones using semi-circle sonic resonation formations that corresponds to the work of Dr. Tesla, Dr. Deak, and Dr. Hutchison.

The Hutchison Levitation Effect is a phenomena whereby objects can be made to hover when resonant frequencies are broadcast: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hutchison_eff...utchison_effect

Dr. Deak has replicated this effect here:

"This is an acoustic levitation chamber I designed and built in 1987 as a micro-gravity experiment for NASA related subject matter. The 12 inch cubed plexiglas Helmholtz Resonant Cavity has 3 speakers attached to the cube by aluminium acoustic waveguides. By applying a continuous resonant(600Hertz) sound wave, and by adjusting the amplitude and phase relationship amongst the 3 speakers; I was able to control levitation and movement in all 3 (x,y,z) axis of the ambient space. This research was used to show the effects of micro-gravity conditions that exist in the space shuttle environment in orbit, but done here on Earth in a lab"

Human flight is not a joke, Darin - I apologize if I came off sounding foolish or misguided but I do approach this with a very severe yet serene demeanor.

Understanding the rotation of the Earth is integral to generating the effect I believe and separating oneself from the surface of this sphere such that one could fly "with it" presents problems that even the most hardened of mathematicians and meditation practitioners would love to crack.

I look forward to continued discussion of this art of qinggong and its effects.

    Cheerio,

    Benjamin Fritz Peterson

  14. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Girdler_sulfide_process

This is the most common chemical process of distilling heavy water from normal water. There is some history at the link to suggest that 340,000 tons of water is necessary to distill 1 ton of heavy water. The ratio's are crazy ... 1 molecule in 3200 is deuterium-enhanced water molecule.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Heavy_water#Production

The thing with all of these mathematics and calculations is that people forget to realize the daoist way of internal alchemy. That their body is quite literally a laboratory and that all of the equipment they need resides within them. Through various breathing methods and electrical activity at the molecular scale within the body you can synthesize all of the deuterium you need.

It doesn't mean we shouldn't pursue external processes ... quite the contrary ... people should learn the internal synthetical process as well as the external scientific one.

Anyone here familiar with Fritjof Capra's book "The Dao of Physics" will understand that modern science in many ways is simply reifying and reiterating knowledge of the ancients which had been understood centuries ago.

    Cheers,

    Ben

I'm not I just read about this as I posted it, thought it was interesting.

one thing that I noticed that caught my attention was that it has a sweet taste but is chemically identical to normal water. Supposedly they analyzed some of that sweet elixir those masters created from normal water, and it was no different chemically from normal water, yet it did have a sweet taste. So perhaps the masters were faking miracles using heavy water, or maybe they were able to some how add neutrons to the hydrogen atoms in the water. Either way its interesting to think about..

You probably could, through meditation and resonation and magnetic concentration affect a migration of deuterium-enhanced water molecules into your system through space into your lungs in water vapor. There may also be ways to internally manufacture the desired molecule through reactions in the heart/lungs/brain.

Bad scientists will scoff at this possibility .. good scientists will consider the probability and refine their methods to increase the likelihood of the probable occurrence.

There really is no more room for bullshit. Immortality is a very real thing. Say whatever you will.
