While looking for a new qigong training, this Flying Phoenix really caught my interest and I would like to get started with it. However, is it normal that I cannot find the training as online videos instead of DVDs? None of my computers or laptops have a dvd drive. Although I have a PlayStation, I can’t move it away from the tv that’s mostly occupied by another family member.

Hi I'm Jan from Belgium. Although I've practiced Yang style Taichi and Qigong in the past, the book "Shaolin spirit" - that I read about 3 weeks ago on our vacation - reignited the flame for the Chinese arts again. Years ago I wasn't even aware that there was "shaolin qigong" although my teacher did explain certain martial applications behind the tai chi movements. So, when I got home from vacation I immediately started reading "The Chinese Roots of Qigong" from Dr Yang Jwing Ming and watching some of his videos. I'm still reading that book (and in parallel about Zhan Zhuang and tai chi) and watching the videos, but wow... what a rabbit hole of information I found. I must say that I'm finally starting to understanding a lot more about the theory behind the practices. Before I continue, I also like to add that I have followed a Reiki level 1 workshop, where I seemed to be one of the few people (or even only one) that could feel on my fellow student three distinct places where she has/had medical problems. I guess energy blocks/stagnation? I don't practice much, but my relatives always feel better the day after. What's even baffling was that my Reiki master said that I was "highly sensitive" or something like that in English. Something that 2 people afterwards - even 1 month ago - told me too. So, besides some interesting experiments in the psychic realm and the Reiki experiences combined with the warm/electrical feelings in my hands (even in the past during certain tai chi movements)... it all seems to push me in this direction of energy healing and internal energy. I'm also triggered a lot by the martial aspect of Tai Chi. Thanks to my ADHD I'm very open minded and eager to learn and know about everything, but it's hard to find my path, because I'm getting overwhelmed by all the possibilities, the possible frauds to be wary of... I know that becoming an energy healer - like those "pulse-reading-chinese doctors" that can blast energy blockages away with their Qi - might be too much of dream. Maybe Qi massage could be an interesting topic to follow (did follow some massaging courses in the past too). Yes, I'm also aware that I should find a good teacher locally, and I'm onto it. An older woman that practiced tai chi with me in the past still... ehm... said she switched teachers. Our old teacher wasn't bad, but didn't work or focus enough on the internal energy. So, I'm about to contact that new teacher this week. She says she finally feels the warmth/heat in her dantien and her new teacher seems to explain even more about the martial parts. Healing and the warmth are currently my next most important steps. Meanwhile, I started practicing the good old 8 broccades qigong, Daoyin baojian gong and basic zhan zhuang standing meditation. But I'm looking for more depth, guidance and structure. And I also want to restart with tai chi. The Flying Phoenix Qigong sparked my interest... also might look into that.
