  1. People need to learn, to be awakened.

    If not, this happens:

    Where's Their teacher?

    This happens daily:

This has nothing to do with power or the theme/topic of this thread. This is urban youths running amok without any consideration for others. They don't want/need a qigong teacher. Their world is a million miles away from any cultivation practice.

  2. Yes, we're screwed and confused, you bet....!!!

It is not the forum that was screwed but it was the people who provide the information. The forum is only a meeting place which gives us a chance to express ourselves. It is up to a true Taoist to sort out the facts from all the misinformation and make corrections in accordance with the purest concepts. These purest concepts may be learned from the principles in the Tao Te Ching. By using these principles as a guide line, thus any misinformation or fallacy may be rejected for keeping the known facts in tact. This process was considered to be purifying the mind. Indeed, purifying the mind is the main practice for a Taoist which has been known as the Cultivation of Xing(修性). Another is the Cultivation of Ming(修命). The combination of both was known as the Dual Cultivation of Xing and Ming(DCXM). In plain English, DCXM is the Dual Cultivation of the Mind and Body.

Taoists are mandatory to hold the DCXM as a standard practice. Of course, there is one more important concept which is Wu Wei(無為). Its concept is "let everything be the way it suppose to be" or "let Nature take its course". The only, and only, intention is not to interfere or interrupt Nature if possible.

Thank you for your answer ChiDragon.

I think you have described Daoism as it should be, not how it's portrayed on this, and other forums.

This is how I try to live.

    DCXM, I like that. :)

    Many blessings to you.

  3. So what have you learned from TTBs? :)

That lots of people are obsessed with John Chang, power, showing off supposed 'abilities', pretending to be superior and more knowledgable than others.

Not enough people interested in the great unfathomable, mystery of mysteries, the Dao.

Having said that, I have acquired some great bits of information from some wonderful folks which have been extremely useful.

So it ain't all bad. :P

  4. I know someone with extraordinary qi power.

He has no wish or desire to be measured/studied or put in the limelight whatsoever.

He wants to remain humble, sincere and genuine.

If people wish to know of his skills, they will find ways to seek him out.

'When the student is ready, the teacher appears.'

  5. I disagree. The universe is limitless, and therefore the number of questions is limitless. Refusing to answer the questions we have to try and preserve the sense of mystery just means that we'll end up gridlocked and that that sense of mystery will grow stale. It's answering the mysteries we have that allows us to move onto the next set of mysteries.

But some mysteries will remain mysteries.

  6.

By this, I practice some of the principles that Taoists do but not just other people.

You mean after all this time you have been, here, with TTB and you have no idea what a Taoist is.....???

    No idea whatsoever. .

    I'm not joking either.

There's more confusion on here than ever.

If this forum is a typical example of what 'Daoists' are, then we're screwed.

John Chang this, and Mo Pai that.

    Qigong, neigong, neidan.

Philisophical, religious, atheist, creationist, anarchist, communist.

    Learned, unlearned. Lettered, unlettered.

    Buddhist, schmuddist, vedantic, pedantic.

    Ch'an, zen, thai, tibetan.

    Christian, mystic, orthodox, gnostic.

Meditation, zhan zhuang, tai chi, contemplation.

    Self, no-self, I AM, enneagram.

Big bang, yin, yang, wu-wei, ziran.

    Confused ? You bet.

    I WROTE:

Lots of talk on forums about masters, teachers, etc..

No one ever steps up to the challenge

    I HAVE.

I'm not talking lame videos of moving stuff with qi/whateverscamoftheweek

That proves nothing but who is better at faking stuff

    I WANT REAL SCIENTIFIC TESTING

    LET'S DO IT

Some things just aren't measurable by mainstream science and I, for one would like to keep it that way. Questions will remain unanswerable. It is this constant questioning of the unknown which keeps us flexible and pliable.

If we knew all the answers to life's great mysteries, the universe would be a very stale and stagnant place.

  8. I tried it for about a month and lost some body fat.

Eventually though, I started to feel weak and re-introduced carbs back in to my diet.

It's probably good in short spells but I wouldn't like to eat like this for long periods.

  9. As to what should be done in a day, when the eating and drinking has been arranged, let one sit straight with his mouth shut, and not allow a single thought to arise in his mind. Let him forget everything, and keep his spirit with settled purpose.

Let his lips be glued together, and his teeth be firmly pressed against one another. Let him not look at anything with his eyes, nor listen to a single sound with his ears. Let him with all his mind watch over his inward feelings. Let him draw long breaths, and gradually emit them, without a break, now seeming to breathe, and now not.

In this way any excitement of the mind will naturally disappear, the water from the kidneys will rise up, the saliva will be produced in the mouth, and the real efficaciousness becomes attached to the body.

It is thus that one acquires the way of prolonging life.

During the twelve hours of the day let one's thoughts be constantly fixed on absolute Purity. Where one thought (of a contrary kind) does not arise, we have what we call Purity; where nothing (of a contrary kind) enters the Tower of Intelligence (= the mind), we have what we call the Undefiled. The body is the house of the breath; the mind is the lodging of the spirit. As the thoughts move, the spirit moves; as the spirit moves, the breath is distributed. As the thoughts rest, the spirit rests when the spirit rests, the breath is collected.

The true powers of the five elements unite and form the boat-like cup of jade, (after partaking of which), the body seems to be full of delicious harmony. This spreads like the unguent of the chrismal rite on the head. Walking, resting, sitting, sleeping, the man feels his body flexible as the wind, and in his belly a sound like that of thunder. His ears hear the songs of the Immortals, that need no aid from any instrument; vocal without words, and resounding without the drum. The spirit and the breath effect a union and the bloom of childhood returns. The man beholds scenes unfolded within him; Spirits of themselves speak to him; he sees the things of vacuity, and finds himself dwelling with the Immortals. He makes the Great Elixir, and his spirit goes out and in at its pleasure. He has the longevity of heaven and earth, and the brightness of the sun and moon. He has escaped from the toils of life and death.

Do not allow any relaxation of your efforts, During all the hours of the day strive always to be pure and undefiled. The spirit is the child of the breath; the breath is the mother of the spirit.

As a fowl embraces its eggs, do you preserve the spirit and nourish the breath. Can you do this without intermission? Wonderful! wonderful! The mystery becomes still deeper!

In the body there are seven precious organs, which serve to enrich the state, to give rest to the people, and to make the vital force of the system full to overflowing. Hence we have the heart, the kidneys, the breath, the blood, the brains, the semen, and the marrow. These are the seven precious organs. They are not dispersed when the body returns (to the dust). Refined by the use of the Great Medicine, the myriad spirits all ascend among the Immortals.

  10. But, if this is a forum about Daoism, and it's side effects- then talking about "power" is a legitimate subject

Hey, I've got no problem with people talking about power etc. This forum is about sharing knowledge and different opinions after all.

But, this has nothing to do with the Dao. Even Dao-ism has nothing to do with the Dao.

I think you're mixing up the terms Dao, Daoism (man-made religion), qigong, neigong.

Nothing wrong with practicing Daoyin for health, martial power and longevity. I myself practice daily and I know well enough that my quality of life has vastly improved with qi cultivation.

But, personally, I have no desire to put out candle flames with my mind-power, shoot fireballs out my ass etc etc. It doesn't prove a goddam thing.

    Best wishes.

  11. What does the type of power that John Chang, Wim Hoff and other practitioners actually prove anyway ?

That some people, through practice can do things that other's can't ?

Well, sorry to burst everyone's bubble, but people have been doing this since the dawn of time.

Does that make them better examples of humanity ? Probably not.

Would it not be better, while on this earth, to try and be nice to each other instead of comparing skill/power levels and such like. These pursuits only feed the ego.

When I see videos of these guys I think of street magicians like Blane and Dynamo etc - nice to watch, but for what purpose, entertainment ?

The people who've had the most impact on me throughout my life are the one's who are not famous. They are genuine, caring, humble and have no wish or desire for power, fame and fortune, or huge bank balances.

    Remember, power corrupts !

  12. Jeff,

What about not being a member of a 'club' ?

Clubs, societies, lineages, traditions, religions, are all man-made constructs which often end in dispute, argument, threats, murder and all-out warfare.

What about a pathless path, where seekers rely on their own initiative and experiences, albeit sometimes with a little help from various sources ?

The tao that can be told
    is not the eternal Tao
The name that can be named
    is not the eternal Name.

    Best wishes.
