  1. Tolerance, Apathy and the Fall of Civilizations

After some thought, I thought about tolerance and the law. When society has made something against the law it is declaring without doubt that there is zero tolerance therefore it is made illegal. So any subject that is illegal is already deemed to be not tolerated in fact it is so not tolerated that you can be arrested for said activity. It is very clear that tolerance has nothing to do with violent crimes as they are not tolerated by any society as they are against the law which is the very opposite of tolerating something.
  2. I wonder if the statement man is pure woman is impure. Is due to a womans menstrual period and that was viewed as impure?
  3. Tolerance, Apathy and the Fall of Civilizations

I appreciate your opinions Karl, thank you for participating with me in this conversation.
  4. Tolerance, Apathy and the Fall of Civilizations

It appears I cannot cut and paste but look up the definition of tolerance. I am confused. The ability or willingness to tolerate something, in particular the existence of opinions or behaviors that one does not necessarily agree with. I know there are many who are not tolerant of the LBGT community. Your opinion seems strange to me.
  5. Tolerance, Apathy and the Fall of Civilizations

I wonder who would ask someone to be tolerant of killing and murder? Seems odd to me. Tolerance seems to me to be more for opinions and non-harmful actions.
  6. Is it the duty of a Taoist to protect Nature?

Nature protects itself. Nature will self correct, if that means it takes out that which throws off balance then it will. Man is nature, I do not see man as separate from nature. It may take time for nature to balance but it will follow the course of itself. An example would be "over population" of a species. If there is enough food for 100 creatures and there are 200 creatures balance will happen.
  7. Christian vs. Hindu deities

IMO the Christian and Hindu deities are manifestations of the one infinite source of all manifestation. In that way they are related. I believe if the religion guides the person to compassion, humility and moderation then it is a beneficial path.
  8. Tolerance, Apathy and the Fall of Civilizations

I am not sure tolerance is as much a withholding of judgment as it is accepting a perception. There needs to be more compassion and tolerance in the world.

  11. Eternal youth & physical immortality

I am not sure if there is a greater curse than physical immortality. To watch all your loved ones pass on throughout infinity? The sun in approximately 4 billion years will get too hot for the earth to retain all its water and the oceans will boil away... being immortal means you get to enjoy the heat. The wish does not include invulnerability to heat and pain, just that someone will live for all eternity. YIKES. "death" is merely a change anyways so there is no problem with death to me.
  12. Thank you.

I can list far more than 25. I have needs air, water, food, shelter and love. Those are needs for me. Everything else I can look at and appreciate greatly. My shelter is far more comfortable than some others. I do not have to fight other animals to attain my water in fact it just flows clean from my sink. So many things to appreciate I do not have time to list them all now. Put on the correct lens to look at your life through. When you have the negative lens up things will be negative and you will see what you are looking for.
  13. Thank you.

I agree with Jim D 21 to go. It is important to be balanced. So list those things that you appreciate. Contentment is wealth... Lao Tzu.
