  1. Gospel of Thomas

    65. He said, "A [...] person owned a vineyard and rented it to some farmers, so they could work it and he could collect its crop from them. He sent his slave so the farmers would give him the vineyard's crop. They grabbed him, beat him, and almost killed him, and the slave returned and told his master. His master said, 'Perhaps he didn't know them.' He sent another slave, and the farmers beat that one as well. Then the master sent his son and said, 'Perhaps they'll show my son some respect.' Because the farmers knew that he was the heir to the vineyard, they grabbed him and killed him. Anyone here with two ears had better listen!"

  3. Gospel of Thomas

    62. Jesus said, Someone was receiving guests. When he had prepared the dinner, he sent his slave to invite the guests. 2 The slave went to the first and said, "My master invites you." The first replied, 3 "Some merchants owe me money; they are coming to me tonight. I have to go and give them instructions. Please excuse me from dinner." 4 The slave went to another and said, "My master has invited you." 5 The second said to the slave, "I have bought a house, and I have been called away for a day. I shall have no time." 6 The slave went to another and said, "My master invites you." 7 The third said to the slave, "My friend is to be married, and I am to arrange the banquet. I shall not be able to come. Please excuse me from dinner." 8 The slave went to another and said, "My master invites you." 9 The fourth said to the slave, "I have bought an estate, and I am going to collect the rent. I shall not be able to come. Please excuse me." 10The slave returned and said to his master, "Those whom you invited to dinner have asked to be excused." 11The master said to his slave, "Go out on the streets and bring back whomever you find to have dinner." 12. Buyers and merchants [will] not enter the places of my Father.

Thanks for the link. Really good stuff on that site šŸ™
  5. Gospel of Thomas

Nicely put! I agree here. šŸ˜Š Didnt mean surrender like put him on a pedestal at all. Sometimes I donā€™t share as much detail as I should. šŸ˜ƒ in my own practice, I approach Jesus as part of myself. The energy translates conceptually as a best friend or older brother. šŸ˜Š

Wondering who the author is? I ran a search on google but didnā€™t find it
  7. Gospel of Thomas

When I read this one, I think of being fully submitted and surrendered to What Is - Gods will. To truly let go of ones self. I also got the feeling of surrendering to Jesus as energetic support - A Yidam or Master - placing your trust in Him and growing in Him. Being worthy isnt neccesarily reaching a certain level of attainment or gaining anything, but rather losing ones self as to open up to God
  8. Gospel of Thomas

    62. Jesus said, "I disclose my mysteries to those [who are worthy] of [my] mysteries. 63 Jesus said, "There was a rich person who had a great deal of money. He said, 'I shall invest my money so that I may sow, reap, plant, and fill my storehouses with produce, that I may lack nothing.' These were the things he was thinking in his heart, but that very night he died. Anyone here with two ears had better listen!"
  9. Really enjoyed the video. What does the ending portray? wondering what others think it represents
  10. Gospel of Thomas

To me I see this as a uniting of yin and yang, or energetically, male and female. Anyone want to add anything or should we move on? hope everyone had a nice holiday.
  11. Congrats Shanmugam! Looking forward to reading it and spreading the word to others. Cheers
  12. Gospel of Thomas

    61. Jesus said, "Two will recline on a couch; one will die, one will live." Salome said, "Who are you mister? You have climbed onto my couch and eaten from my table as if you are from someone." Jesus said to her, "I am the one who comes from what is whole. I was granted from the things of my Father." Salome said, "I am your disciple." Jesus replied, "For this reason I say, if one is whole, one will be filled with light, but if one is divided, one will be filled with darkness."
  13. Gospel of Thomas

Hmmm. You got me on this one. The verse seems to indicate that a shift happens... it does seem like the shift is from being a self centered ā€œman of dustā€ to being the ā€œheavenly manā€ which would encompass the ā€œlightā€ that Jesus came to bring. Saying that in the old days it was not possible, things were ā€œnatural but not spiritualā€. Things had to ā€œevolveā€, the new wine vs the old wine skins.
  14. Gospel of Thomas

Yes - the Gospel of Thomas seems to be more similar to eastern teachings than the traditional New Testament gospels. At least in the way it is written - simple, direct teachings, which I personally find easier to understand than the writing style of the NT - even if they're talking about the same things
  15. Gospel of Thomas

Also, thanks to everyone for sharing... I very much enjoy this thread and GoT discussions.
  16. Gospel of Thomas

This verse seems a bit aloof for me, until the last line. It speaks to the "aliveness" and awareness inside that is seperate from the body. "Place for rest" is your true nature, while the "carcass being eaten" would be what happens if you have attachments to worldly things.
  17. Gospel of Thomas

    60. He saw a Samaritan carrying a lamb and going to Judea. He said to his disciples, "that person ... around the lamb." They said to him, "So that he may kill it and eat it." He said to them, "He will not eat it while it is alive, but only after he has killed it and it has become a carcass." They said, "Otherwise he can't do it." He said to them, "So also with you, seek for yourselves a place for rest, or you might become a carcass and be eaten."
  18. What does it mean to "Be True To Yourself"

For me, it just means to be aware of your thoughts and actions, reactions, emotions, attachments... all that good stuff. Being mindful (eh hate that word) and knowing your mind. It may not be something as grand as discovering your own true nature - but itā€™s the important step to take in that direction. Something a bit more attainable for Joe Shmoe. Joe Shmoe may not know his true nature, but if he can see that his current ā€œnatureā€ and tries to make the best of that.... if he is aware of his habits, his patterns, and the effects of his actions. Above all is ACCEPTING them and being truthful about your flaws and foibles. Sorry, what was the question ?
  19. What to do about compassion?

Keep it up - if it makes you feel good and your reaping benefits - tharts all that really matters. šŸ™
  20. What to do about compassion?

Nicely put. Yes this is accurate for me.
  21. What to do about compassion?

Sounds about right to me šŸ˜Š I think at first, choosing to open your heart and trying to be empathetic is an important step in opening the heart. Iā€™ve done many ā€œmaniā€ mantras and loving kindness meditations over the years. I know they werenā€™t in vein. At some point the ā€œtryingā€ fell away, and compassion was just there on its own. Itā€™s alot different than the empathy I felt when doing the above meditations, too. I canā€™t really explain it well. Itā€™s more an understanding of the nature of suffering (or being) that gives compassion, rather than ME trying to alleviate suffering.
  22. Spiritual Qigong that develops Chi

I used to practice PGSG daily ; I feel it gave me a good foundation in feeling energy and being healthier. It does a nice job in helping you release things too; the trick is to really relax into the practice. Relaxing is key! have fun
