  1. Connecting with Deities

Any reason why you feel it wasnā€™t Jesus himself ?
  2. Merging and guru yoga

For a long time, I always thought ā€œThis is possible, yes. but itā€™s impermanent and therefor another illusion. Not the truth. It can be taken away. ā€ This is still true to me. Canā€™t get attached... Then, however, I met someone who could provide that introduction. Now I see there actually is a lot of benefit in working with a connection like that. Someone can show you how to get out of the woods if your lost... They will guide you out. But you wake up the next day and your lost in the woods again. They continue to show you, and you start to remember the way yourself. Pretty soon your out of the woods completely. Whether you stay out or go back in to help others who are lost is up to you. Technically the woods donā€™t exist anyway right? Lol...
  3. Merging and guru yoga

    Nice šŸ‘
  4. Merging and guru yoga

In my experience, most people canā€™t pull off a full merge... instead you get a ā€œconnectionā€ (which is powerful in its own right). Iā€™ve done merges many times, and sometimes Iā€™ll only get a partial merge or connection (for whatever reason). But if you have trust in said being, whatā€™s there to worry about ? Any specifics as to the dangers?
  5. Merging and guru yoga

I guess I am not at that level yet, as I still get caught up in issues šŸ˜Š
  6. Merging and guru yoga

Is the goal of certain meditations to clear away obstructions ? Thats all merging does, is help clears away obstructions. Each time I merge with a being, I am less bound to my body, my sense of self. I kind of ā€œreleaseā€ into them and feel ā€œfa xinā€ melting away. Thats just my own experience. Iā€™m not very good debating semantics or traditions.
  7. Merging and guru yoga

    Well said, thanks.
  8. Already Tired of Ignorance

When things donā€™t match our expectations, we tend to get a bit disappointed in them. If we have no expectations and take things openly as they arise, much can be learned. Good luck on your journey.
  9. The Taoist and Chopsticks

I dated a Chinese girl for a while, and her family had metal chopsticks. I embarrassed myself more than a few times trying to use them. The wooden ones are much easier!
  10. Thatā€™s the one! Lol
  11. Hey! Ya'll seem pretty chill to me

Mods... Iā€™d like to be known as internet phantom from here on out .... thanks
  12. All really good recommendations. One thing ill say - try out magnesium before bed. Maybe 250mg magnesium citrate (calm brand name) about 1-3hours before bed. magnesium does a lot for the body - including promoting relaxation for muscles and regulating stress hormones and helping with sleep. Diets are notoriously low in magnesium, and many people are extremely surprised in how well they feel after supplementing with it.

    Welcome !
  14. Diversity in The Great Divide

I read most of the article. He gives some interesting points. Although it seemed more about the politics and socio structure, which I donā€™t really care about (sorry). One thing that jumped out to me was the first paragraph as well. Not for the reason others give however... More so the fact that his reaction to the group of Buddhists he was with, seemed to be his own personal reaction, one based on issues and perceptions. He then goes onto write the article based on his perceived imbalance of western sangha, and need to diversify. Instead of looking outward and encouraging diversity, I hope he also looked inward and asked himself, why am I feeling uncomfortable here?
  15. What is Non-duality?

Someone told me once buddha was an incarnation of Vishnu. *backs away slowly* šŸ˜€
  16. Counting our Blessings

After having no heat in my apartment the last few days - going to have to say ... heated homes ...
  17. What is Non-duality?

I feel like any attempt to describe it could be considered dualistic. Does this mean we just sit around quietly because ā€œthe Dao that can be named...ā€ etc. Itā€™s just an attempt to point... no need to split hairs imo.
  18. Commonly Closed Chakras

Good questions. I was thinking more a culture that treasures compassion and filial piety to have an open heart, versus a materialist culture which would be more focused in the third. So many different factors come into play though.
  19. Commonly Closed Chakras

I think it all depends on the individual. Would be interesting to do a cultural study though. I bet bet thereā€™s some sociological factors that go into building issues at certain centers.
  20. meditation and channels

I gave up caffeine for a few years. I felt I had more energy in the mornings and throughout the day. Less of a crash at night. I think the pendulum swings both ways. I felt I had developed a fear of caffeine - as silly as that sounds. I tried to avoid all caffeinated beverages. Always checking the labels, ā€œdoes this contain caffeine?ā€ Now I drink caffeine, and simply donā€™t pay it much thought. I accept it. I donā€™t fight it, and I donā€™t dwell with it. Itā€™s okay
  21. meditation and channels

Coffee is good, I prefer tea
  22. Gospel of Thomas

Thank you. That verse was not particularly clear for me until now.
