    The Mystery of the Hanging Garden of Babylon: An Elusive World Wonder Traced

    Oxford University Press, 2013, 279pp. $34.95

     

    She posits the Hanging Garden was built at his Nineveh palace by Sennacherib in 700 BC.  Through  a complex, engineered, watercourse system - dams, aqueducts, tunnels, and bronze screws to "pump" water up - large trees were cultivated on the upper amphitheater-like walls of his palace.

    I am grateful that this vehicle has been created.

     

    Would the participating members please share their understanding of Hsűan?

     

    It seems fundamental to entering The Tao Te Ching/ 

     

    I have seen it rendered as "Dark-enigma" which does nothing for me.

     

    Also seen it as "mysterious, dark, profound, subtle."

     

    Would welcome your insight.
