  1. The Worst Mistake in Human History

To which time period are you referring? The records of this science exist in India and the time scale chosen for a full human life span was 120 years there is no doubt on this figure as a estimated "long life span", it is fundamental to Jyotish calculations. But the way that time and life are perceived are so fundamentally different to that of occidental thought (which is now predominating globally). So much so, that it is difficult to equate with; Schrodinger did try. We find what we want to find, and occidental research seeks to justify its own position, where as another stance would lead to different conclusions; most researchers are ego driven idiots. Original and truly wise minds are rare and original thought is far from encouraged in occidental academia. If you step on established toes you don't get funding, this unfortunately colours the results. For an example all texts translated from Sanskrit were doctored to fit with current western beliefs; where as the Indian scholars have always stated them to be referring to older periods; to understand the importance of this astrological dating you must first realize how fundamental astronomy is the the Indian calendar, and also to its philosophy and literature. http://www.indicethos.org/Astronomy/GreatBharatawar.html Occidental scholars are still emerging from the long effects of the Christian beliefs and indoctrination; the "style" of thought is still guided by its former mind set. The effect of Occidental thought upon the well established yet humble Indian system was devastating for quite some time. Not due to superiority; but rather due I am afraid, to intellectual aggressiveness. To my mind anyhow.
  2. The Worst Mistake in Human History

Hello dustybeijing, The article is interesting but seems rather limited in its scope to me. http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/25352727 We fundamentally know very little about what life is; and the Occidental notion of what time is is very dubious from the perspective of a JyotisĖŠa, though it is undoubtedly more aggressively perused as a "norm" in financially directed research circles. The doctrine that I study who's origins dates back 5000 years and more, uses the time span of 120 solar years, when calculating human life. Its foundations state that in the age prior to its roots 10000 years ago, that humans lived a much healthier and longer lifespans. That time itself undergoes an entropy and that we have degenerated to a recent low; the middle or dark ages; from which we are now emerging. Time is not viewed as linear, and it is considered to be something that emerges rather than exists.
  3. Hello Rara, Age of a nodal return often problematic; important time for self assessment, sometimes a time mistakes; often a time of change due to this. You are also experiencing a transit of Saturn over your natal Saturn, this often causes trouble in yang energy. Take it easy one step at a time, the spiritual umbilical chord is never easy to cut; should you chose this route. This dynamic with your mother will show in your chart; You may have tamasic graha in the 4th bhāva or a tricky placement of the 4th marker. Remember that this is one of your self's biggest defining factors, and it may be a challenge for a reason; remove the self from the perspective to understand this; Not from your self emotionally, but from the dynamic between you both, try to observe your situation from another perspective that of an impartial observer. That the energy be better directed or diffused, but not removed or quashed; Reflective of your relation with yin, this is often the cause of troubles in Men. It is the Mother Earth that attracts the lightening bolt; same dynamic in family life, the force of the lightening is manifest in yang, but it is yin that draws it out ... It is infinitely better that you construct a spiritual lightning conductor for your energy, than try to hide from the lightning under a tree, which it sounds to me as though you might be doing to a certain degree; Causing pent up anger to manifest as disturbance in your speech. As you have correctly correlated to your pranayama or spiritual breath.
  4. Hello Owledge, I do not know the saying, but will offer you these thoughts upon a possible origin: Is not the change of humour that a menstruating Woman undergoes, an obvious obstruction to ones peace of mind? For some, the dark side of them literally awakens, all reason disappears; Let us bear in mind that temples are like amplifiers or resonators ... The menstrual cycle is representative of the cleansing of the body and regeneration, through the end of a cycle, by the flushing out that which was not required. Now there is a very long and very complex astrological explanation and reason for this also, but I shall not expand upon this here; it is way to deep. I think given the knowledge how delicate temple construction is through vastu; it becomes quite obvious then but that is some very high level understanding of the science of the architecture of temples and of vastu.

All comes down to territory really, I am certain that the Gypsies understand this well; I quite fancy becoming a Gipsy if I'm honest.
  6. The Worst Mistake in Human History

I like Jarred Diamond; he writes ideas that are so simple that you wonder why you never thought to write them down yourself, yet his depth and style are hard to read also, though well worthy of the Pulitzer prise to my mind, as received for "Guns Germs and steel". Why people do not just wonder off the grid is simple, there is no space left; the inherent roots of today's sprawling occidental lifestyle are attached to, and require, both its geographical constraints and its wars; no place to run. As population reaches certain thresholds, as Diamond mentions this as a primary forcing attribute; the dominant or successful phenotypes and the hierarchical order therein, change. The parasites of one age are the leaders of the next, and vis versa. It is interesting that he has mentioned in another writing that He finds the wits (an intellect of sorts) of tribesmen of Papua New Guinea to be better formed or sharper than those of the average city dweller; The city being more like an ant hill or a bee hive than a herd or tribe. As a side note, most influential people are disliked by their entourage; it is a necesity that to instigate a change of thought you must step upon the toes of those who guard knowledge by convention; their are many of those conventionalists; alas their are very few original thinkers.
  7. Hello Owledge, We must ask our selves seriously the question: is psychiatry a science or a belief system? It is compiled by a very small specific subgroup of people who compile the lists of "dis-order's"; who, in many cases it could be well said, have acute cases of OCD themselves; thus the relative pot is rather labelling the kettle black. Savants have always been little understood by scribes; the difference today is the way our economic performance based society and its cattle farm like education, segregates people ... The now egocentric scribes are oblivious to their intellectual incompetence; yet they have passed all the exams and are rewarded financially for it. Psychopaths would surely make an excellent soldier or perhaps a front man, for an incompetent scribe who profess superiority by way of force and manipulative illusion/delusion. Where then one might ask; is the mental illness; in the pot, the kettle, or is it perhaps the label itself? To my mind the only difference between genus and genius, is having the right mix of the correct traits at just the right time. Kind regards.
  8. Free Will/Choice?

Hello Vanir Thunder Dojo Tan, The freer that our will appears to us, the tighter the knot we tie in our future; perhaps not for this time around; we pick this up from where we left off in our next generation/incarnation, our next breath depends upon how we take this one. Life ebbs and flows, should we do not flow with it then there is turbulence, this is not free will it is a dynamic in a dynamic system. The beating heart of the universe reacts to the way that we breath, our will is simply that; how we breath; Relating to a heart that is much more profound than the pump in our physical body; This heart beat can be felt. So where then lays the confusion and where lays freedom; In knowledge of this heart, or in the ignorance of its existence that allows for complete freedom?

  10. Free Will/Choice?

Hello Marblehead, I fully understand your perspective, and totally agree with you that; you think that you have free will within the limits of your own domain and from your current and past recollected experience. Which is a perfectly rational and valid perspective.

  12. Hello DreamBliss, I am speaking from the vantage of one versed in jyotish shastra which is a vedaga used for the understanding of vedic wisdom; as such I could refer you to the Bṛhat Parāśara Horā śāstra; though it is not recommended that this be studied with out the assistance of an expert; it will dispel this illusion for you fully, and replace it with sound advice in how to work with your own set of possible futures; by which you can obtain peace of mind. It is NOT as simple self help book nor is it intended to be. There are other methods, but this is the one with which I am currently most familiar. My own teacher is starting a new batch of courses this coming year; if you would like I can put you into contact with the course mentor? If this is too expensive for you, I will take a little look at your chart for you and advise, as I have previously mentioned; a precise birth time is required rectification is a long timely process and out of the scope of a simple gesture. Perhaps the simplest route, if that is what you seek, is to have a chart reading with a trusted Jyotisha, to have a method formulated personally. I am not getting any commission nor do I have a vested interest; here is a link for my teachers site from where you can investigate course subscription. http://srath.com/
  13. These beliefs work to trigger wealth yoga's in the charts of a small subset of people that have such a disposition; these people will swear blindly that it worked because it did for them. If you do not have this temporal predisposition, it simply will not work for you; the temporal predisposition also refers to the chart of your country and its economy, as well as any wealth indications such as rajayoga in your own chart ...
  14. Free Will/Choice?

I am Kashmir shavite, I don't practise; I live with and in the experience of saktipata ... I refer not to nihilistic thought but holistic thought. We have will but it is not free; it is bound by the laws of the Universe and every action is part of a flow of prior and consecutive actions including thought; The filter through which time flows to a great extent makes up our mind, this is to my mind the important concept to understand here and thus why this is then self evident. You will be switching that pump on and off in a multitude of worlds and all of which, at a slightly different times, leading to infinite different futures. Did you chose the the one that you wanted, or simply the one that was most probable? māyā or blinkers are quite natural and dependant upon where and when we live; I somewhat envy those who can live in their social direction. I can not, the filters through which my time flows do not allow me that luxury so easily. I am not complaining don't get me wrong; the understanding of the workings of time that this affection affords me is well worth the effort it demands.
  15. Free Will/Choice?

The days and thus weeks have emerged from the planetary speeds also apparent in the north and southern hemispheres; I was referring to the lunar cycles in relation to solar cycles. Days weeks years are all based upon the solar calendar; the Sun will blind you if you stare for to long. Where as the lunar cycle breathes with human nature. But you only see that which you chose to see, and unless able to retract the senses, and I do not mean dampen the emotions, rather I mean to enhance them by quieting the mind so as to hear and see them. Language to has its roots, so the reference frame in this instance, for freedom of choice, is constrained to a subset of possible divergence, highly relative to past events; thus also relative to our family our heritage and geo-temporal position; the reference frame here is much larger and thus far more illusive or illusory; but it still exists. Thus it is not free will as it is still relative, and inherently dependant upon this apparent temporal frame of reference. My use of "apparent" is reference to temporal appearance, that something might appear due to the apparent flow of time. It would seem to me that the factor which determines most our awareness or lack there of of this; is the size of our ego. The width and focus of our foresight and understanding. the more we focus the ego the more we belive in our own freedom; the less we are aware of the motion seen in a more open minded vision of the whole. All is relative and we are all capable of both foresight and focus, excepting that there is a large relativistic filter put in front of our vision; which affects this vision or view greatly that of mind, giving each of us tendencies one way or the other in our sight. The more focused predatory visors are far less aware of this, where as to the herbivores it is obvious. I learnt French because I was washed up on a French shore, I find Sanskrit to be far more interesting that Latin based languages.
  16. Free Will/Choice?

If I might be so bold as to correct you here, your opinion seems very biased ... living on the equator has given a different understanding of the passing of time; with 5 or 6 seasons instead of 4; it is at the poles that there are only two. It is then less of an obsession with the solar calendar, that we find nearing the inner limits of the tropics of Cancer and Capricorn, consequently a greater appreciation of the finer aspects of time; that of several cycles simultaneously beating in and out of phase, rather than one big clunky clock. Though that is not to say that the clock is not extremely useful; it is just a little misleading when it comes to understanding the finer aspects of reality. Time and space are our actions, thus are directly related to our apparent choices; they are inseparable. How can you have the choice between an apple and an orange if you live in the north pole in an age with no shipping or freight transport? The choice is limited in space and time desire is an illusion limited by space and time; Inuit's do not desire nor do they chose oranges or apples, they do not have knowledge of such fruit, desire and choice are thus limited by geographical position, the belief of free will is an illusion.
  17. Hello Manitou, I am not certain that I have understood your thought in perhaps that which is meant by beginners mind; it is perhaps a tao reference with which I am not yet familiar, but this is a little more on the nature of knowledge in this cycle; how it relates to the topic at hand from my current perspective. I like to get into the details of the flow of tao, thus my studies and these explanations. Knowledge of mind is not the same as knowledge of an object, knowledge of an object is always relative to a point of reference; of a place and a time; The closer we are to the source of the knowledge, the longer lasting is the knowledge. Knowledge also exists out side of space and time; describing it rather than being of it, at this level though later they also merge; these are the tattva or elements. The pasture may become a desert when the river takes another path, and by this simple analogy we can also see how research scientists may find themselves unemployed, when a new branch or technology renders their own obsolete even after years of work and study; the river still emerges from the same glacier but it now flows to another valley. The same is true of all technology consequent employment; This is the differentiation of knowledge. Thus the store is somewhat more fragile over time if one does not have a good connection to the source. Aquarius or rather Kumbha is also the house by which we enter and leave this life, this world; the pitcher or kunda is the body. Kind regards.
  18. The implications of damning and flow are vast ... Things that we would be wise to consider, as you wisely state Manitou; what happens when wealth stops flowing? If those at the top of the hill either damn, or dirty the water ... The kumbha or kunda (water pot or pitcher) are representative of the 11th bhāva or house source of wealth, stored water carried by the water bearer in the pitcher carrying fresh water from the mountains. We find relevance here to stored karma, in this pot this kunda. Now this pitcher has its uses, but of course we know that if you store water for to long, it becomes stagnant and thus it is critical that there be a flow, life is a flow. This is in part, the symbolism of Aquarius. The other facet of wealth and its generations is Taurus the Bull; found in the pastures down river, and here we see the other side of wealth, the paśu is the tethered beast, in our conception of wealth its stores are taurus the 2nd house; The tethered beast drinks and eats upon the well irrigated pasture. Fear of having nothing can transform man into a rampaging beast, as can the possibility of getting something for nothing; especially when competition becomes rife; perhaps then it is far better that man be tethered by wealth ... This is true for all forms of flow and as a dynamic, and is rather predictable. Wealth is also synonymous with knowledge.
  19. There is no need to apologise manitou; this subject is very difficult to accept unless one has studied it, thus realises that there is a logic behind it; It is a serious spiritual matter so I have no problem to discuss it. Similar rituals are performed if a parent risks loosing a child; we might consider this as the ultimate preventative medicine. I read the chart of a friend the other day who had such a placement for the loss of a child; sure enough he had lost his first child. Jyotisha, if trained highly enough, do I believe also perform exorcism to "dispel" possessions. I have a lot of study to do still but I fully intend to work with the mentally ill, or spiritually possessed; the patterns of which do install them selves over several generations when adharma is rife; Much of the basic chart work is of the same nature but a less intense version there of. Most people simply want to know when they will get rich and never consider the implications any further.
  20. You are quite welcome Brian. Hello the learner, Lth, The events happen to individuals or groups depending upon the placement of the Gaṇḍānta Junctions in the chart at the time of birth; the origin is past karma of the people involved; not necessarily the person who was born it can also be the karma of the family affected. Perhaps as a learning experience for those involved; these subjects have a tendency to accelerate ones spiritual learning curve; It is a tricky subject in India today as people move away from the ancient beliefs and customs with the moral opinions from infiltrating foreign culture, effecting the established beliefs and status quo; to the dismay of many, and understandably so, if one has a grasp of the subjects at hand ... Though a normal progression for KaliYuga. The these particular sandhya or Gaṇḍānta junctions are the meeting point of the lunar and solar zodiacs; there are others. The junctions relate directly to the void and to spiritual growth also. The beloved Dog holds a particular place in Indian tradition; as any familiar with the epic mahabharata will know. The case with which I have experience was with a French native so obviously no remedies had been performed; I strongly suspect that her mother also has strong Gaṇḍānta connections in her chart also general havoc ensued; as you rightly say it does run in families, often I have remarked royals, you will observe a tradition of royals being brought up by other people, rather than than the parents themselves this is said to disable the cause and effect; I strongly suspect that these traditions are in some way related ... Though this would be rather the domain of the RajaJyotish, rather than the village astrologer. For an example HRH Prince Charles has his Natal Moon in a Junction, as does HRH Queen Elisabeth II; Lady Dianna her ascendant. Here is an explanation and some examples written by my esteemed Jyotish Guru Pt Sanjay Rath. To understand the depths of the ocean of Jyotish can take many lifetimes.
  21. It is interesting to see this reported in a British rag, this ritual happens all the time in India, more often a pot is used not a dog. I have had direct experience of the negative side of this relativistic culmination when the ritual is not performed; it was very frightening to observe and indeed be a part of; the Fathers side of this girls family had be totally destroyed and He handicapped through accident. I won't go into the details of what happen when we got together, but it was as if it were indirectly connected to our meeting. This should be taken very seriously, to cast dispersions from the obstructed vantage point of ignorance, would be a rather foolish stance to adopt; In my opinion. The culture describing the rite is one of the oldest surviving culture on the planet and a culture that has greatly influenced the world as a whole, the proof is in the pudding as they say ... I believe that they have forgotten to mention that the village elders were astrologers; in this occidental translation of the proceedings.
