  1. Damn, that bad huh? Leaving town isn't really an option for me right now and my heart's set on learning tai chi. Not that I have anything against the other schools you suggested, might check em out later, but right now it's gotta be tai chi. I'm stubborn like that. :P I think I'm going to train myself for now. Any suggestions on books, websites, videos, etc. I should look into?

  2. Anyone have any experience with this school? They any good? I plan on signing up with them either next month or in October. They're the only place in my town that teaches Tai Chi so if I want to learn it's either them or teach myself. I figure I'm better off with a teacher so I plan on signing up either way, but I'd still like to get an idea of what to expect.

  3. Though I think it's a shame that some animals that are bred for slaughter aren't given better lives before their time comes, my opinion is that if people refuse to eat that animal out of protest, then that animal died for nothing. Yes I like the taste of meat and it's the main reason I wouldn't be willing to never eat it again, but I also think it's important to respect and give thanks to those animals that died and sometimes suffered to put food on my plate.

No disrespect to anyone. Just my opinion.

  4. Is anyone here familiar with TENS devices? I have a bad back and use one for the pain sometimes. It helps, but since the machine basically gives you a massage by electrocuting you, I'm wondering if it has any negative effects on chi.

    Thanks

  5. Hi everybody! Just postin my initial welcome post. I'm a complete noob. I always wanted to learn martial arts as a kid but we didn't have the money to sign me up for anything when I was growing up and I eventually forgot about it. It was still in the back of my mind somewhere though. After years of not taking care of myself, I ended up with a bunch of health problems as an adult. I started doing some yoga I found online to help my bad back and it slowly started to help so then I started looking for ways I could fix my other health problems. I started thinking about martial arts again and managed to stumble onto qigong and neigong. I called up the local Tai Chi school in my area and I'm joining their next classes in Sept. In the meantime, I've been trying to get as healthy as possible while I'm waiting. I've given up drugs, alcohol, and junk food and started exercising regularly. I found Lam Kam Chuen's Zhan Zhuang videos on you tube and I got his book The Way of Energy, so I've been practicing that everyday in addition to the yoga for my back. I've also been trying to get into seated meditation (something that caught my interest in high school but I eventually gave up on) and I started doing more yoga to get my flexibility back so I can maintain the posture. So far so good. Still, any advice anyone can give me is greatly appreciated.

    Thanks
