Found this hiding in my Best of Bums thread-

Dao Zhen:

Those who wish to embody the Tao should embrace all things.

To embrace all things means
one holds no anger or resistance
toward any idea or thing,
living or dead, formed or formless.

Acceptance is the very essence of the Tao.

To embrace all things means
one rids oneself of any concepts of separation:
male and female, self and others, life and death.

Division is contrary to the nature of the Tao.

Foregoing antagonism and separation,
one enters into
the harmonious oneness of all things...

and my favorite of his...

You never change things by fighting the existing reality...  To change something, build a new model that makes the existing model obsolete.

May the stars carry your sadness away,

May the flowers fill your heart with beauty,

May hope forever wipe away your tears.

And, above all, may the silence make you strong !

And may a bird of paradise fly up your nose.

"'What day is it?', asked Winnie the Pooh.

'It's today,' squeaked Piglet.

'My favorite day,' said Pooh."

I've long suspected my Dad rewrote some of Milne's book...

Really?

You cannot change how someone thinks, but you can give them a tool to use which will lead them to think differently.

"Saving someone's life is like falling in love. The best drug in the world. For days, sometimes weeks afterwards, you walk the street making infinite whatever you see. Once, for a few weeks, I couldn't feel the earth. Everything I touched became lighter. Horns played in my shoes. Flowers fell from my pockets. You wonder if you've become immortal, as if you've saved your own life as well. God has passed through you. Why deny it that for a moment there-- why deny for a moment there, God, was you?" ~Nicolas Cage, Bringing out the Dead

One of my bosses, after giving me a good dose of shit yesterday, semi-apologized for being a smart ass... I grinned rather uncontrollably, like the generally silly beast I imagine I seem like to other people... and blorted out.

"Never stop. I'd rather take shit from a smart ass... than clean it up after a dumb one."
