Taoist classics (free download)

Recommended Posts

An [un]IMPORTANT note

Dear all,

I find words like "Dear", "Sincerely Yours", or "Best Regards" a bit insincere and artificial 'cause we use them without actually feeling anything for the other person. I don't like using such words.

So if you don't see your name at the beginning of my messages (or sometimes e-mails), or if I only write your name without a "dear" etc. before it, or if I don't say "Best Regards" etc. at the end, please don't take this as an indication of disrespect. It is not.

The Files will be Uploaded Soon

Pullybone found a good sharing site: http://www.mediafire.com

It seems quite convenient, no upload or download limits, etc.

I'll upload ALL of the files quite soon. (Estimation: 10-20 days.)

I'm working on a few new texts and made additions to a few texts I posted before.

Because the download site is kinda 'ad-infested' and wants cookies, I made a ZIP archive containing all PDF files with the complete titles as filenames and made it available via eMule. I will keep it online for some days and see whether there is demand and the download priority works.

I got the feeling that it won't be any good, but it's an experiment.

If it helps... I am on eDonkeyServer No2 (212.63.206.35:4242) but also have KAD active.

UPDATED version from RT's post below:

The file name is "Taoism - Tao texts - Taoist classics (english and_or chinese).zip".

Have to Get This Version

I made a stupid mistake in the "Diagram of the Inner Channels" (Neiching T'u / Neijing Tu) file... (It's the 1st file above.) The author translated colophon at the end of the text, in the part 1 of the article, while the rest of the text was translated in part 2. Not seeing it in part 2, I assumed that he (somehow) translated only a part of the colophon.

Today I saw trs. of the colophon by chance and prepared the latest version of the NCT file. If you downloaded the NeichingT'u.pdf, I suggest deleting that file and downloading the latest version:

NCT.pdf (7 MB)

LOL, so you're going to put it on emule ?? Get peer-guardian 2 [ http://phoenixlabs.org/pg2/ ] and look at all the antipiracy sites that are trying to track you when you log on to any server, and which are probably the source of all the "fake" returns that come up when you try a global search. Emule has gone to pot.

Just an observation for anyone who might consider hopping on emule.

@pullybone

That's why I already use PG2. :D But thanks for the info for beginners. :) My idea was mainly intended for people who use it anyway.

After all... If you're not downloading ... say ... blockbuster movies from 2009, you're safe. ;) I'm using it for educational/research purposes.

I wonder who's providing all the upload bandwidth that causes BT to be so fast. I prefer BT, but some things aren't available there, and then I usually find them on eMule.

Wow, awesome! But could you or someone else please re-UL those to one of the other sites listed...or badongo (links good until inactive for 30 days)? Oh wait, I see some already have..
Get the torrent here: http://www.spaceweather-chat.info/_etc/old...20texts.torrent

I can't leave my computer on 24/7, hope you understand. So I hope in a few days enough people got it as well, AND seed it as well. Please help spread it further once you got it yourself!

Thanks - does that include all the aforementioned texts?

So, this torrent contains all the files listed above? Do you have an actual torrent link for that? Yea, I'd rather just DL everything in one ZIP file at once, if possible. :)

@vortex

It's not a BitTorrent, it's a file available on the eMule/KAD network. It is 123 MB in size ... too big for my webspace. And I can't supply a useful torrent, because I have dynamic ip address. Maybe I'll register at DynDNS again, but currently I don't have motivation for that.

Cool, 123 MB's not that big. :D

Would you mind ULing it to mediafire, badongo or one of the other sites here?

I don't have eMule cuz I've heard it's a less-secure torrent site. I typically use uTorrent instead. Thanks! :)

And few more new files here too, just to keep the list updated:

Sorry for the mess, but I deleted previous "Diagram of the Inner Channels" (Nei-ching T'u / Neijing Tu) files. The link here is the only link to NCT:

NCT.pdf (7 MB)

Maybe someone can also add these 2 to the master compilation ZIP file and UL it?

IMPORTANT NOTICE

I'm really grateful that some members (JeroenK, Hardyg and Pullybone) are working on torrents. But they may not UPDATE the texts. I'm making additions to some of the texts; NCT (Ne-ching T'u) file is a good example.

I'll be happy if the torrent people take time and update the files.

If they don't, then the best way to ensure that you're getting the latest, updated versions is to DOWNLOAD FROM THE LINKS THAT I PROVIDE.

P.S.: Last night I added a link to Wiki. You can always download the latest version of NCT (Ne-ching T'u) file at the following Wiki page because I'll update it with each new version. Look for the link that says "Bilingual (Chinese-English) text of Neijing tu (7 MB PDF file)". Currently the first link at the "External links" section.
